Let A = (aij) be a Borel mapping on [0, 1] x Rd with valuesin the space of non-negative operators on Rd and let b = (bi)be a Borel mapping on [0, 1] x Rd with values in Rd. Let Under broad assumptions on A and b, we construct a family µ= (µt)t [0, 1] of probability measures µt on Rdwhich solvesthe Cauchy problem L* µ = 0 with initial conditionµ0 = , where \nu is a probability measure on Rd, in thefollowing weak sense: and Such an equation is satisfied by transition probabilities ofa diffusion process associated with A and b provided such aprocess exists. However, we do not assume the existence of aprocess and allow quite singular coefficients, in particular,b may be locally unbounded or A may be degenerate. An infinite-dimensionalanalogue is discussed as well. Main methods are Lp-analysiswith respect to suitably chosen measures and reduction to theelliptic case (studied previously) by piecewise constant approximationsin time. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification 35K10, 35K12,60J35, 60J60, 47D07.  相似文献

Let K be the (real closed) field of Puiseux series in t overR endowed with the natural linear order. Then the elements ofthe formal power series rings [[1,...,n]] converge t-adicallyon [–t,t]n, and hence define functions [–t,t]n K. Let L be the language of ordered fields, enriched with symbolsfor these functions. By Corollary 3.15, K is o-minimal in L.This result is obtained from a quantifier elimination theorem. The proofs use methods from non-Archimedean analysis. 2000 MathematicsSubject Classification 03C64, 32P05, 32B05, 32B20, 03C10 (primary),03C98, 03C60, 14P15 (secondary).  相似文献

Nodal Solutions of a p-Laplacian Equation   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
We prove that the p-Laplacian problem –p u = f(x, u),with u on a bounded domain RN, with p > 1 arbitrary, has a nodal solution providedthat f : x R R is subcritical, and f(x, t) / |t|p2 is superlinear. Infinitely many nodal solutions are obtainedif, in addition, f(x, –t) = –f(x, t). 2000 MathematicsSubject Classification 35J20, 35J65, 58E05.  相似文献

The authors of this paper study positive supersolutions to theelliptic equation -u = c|x|sup in Cone-like domains ofRN (N 2), where p, s R and c > 0. They prove that in thesublinear case p < 1 there exists a critical exponent p*> 1 such that the equation has a positive supersolution ifand only if – < p < p*. The value of p* is determinedexplicitly by s and the geometry of the cone. 2000 MathematicsSubject Classification 35J60 (primary), 35B05, 35R45 (secondary).  相似文献

A smooth fibration of 3 by oriented lines is given by a smoothunit vector field V on 3 all of whose integral curves are straightlines. Such a fibration is said to be nondegenerate if dV vanishesonly in the direction of V. Let be the space of oriented linesof 3 endowed with its canonical pseudo-Riemannian neutral metric. We characterize the nondegenerate smooth fibrations of 3 byoriented lines as the closed (in the relative topology) definiteconnected surfaces in . In particular, local conditions on imply the existence of a global fibration. Besides, for anysuch fibration the base space is diffeomorphic to the open discand the directions of the fibers form an open convex set ofthe two-sphere. We characterize as well, in a similar way, thesmooth (possibly degenerate) fibrations.  相似文献

Let G be a -compact, locally compact group and I be a closed2-sided ideal with finite codimension in L1(G). It is shownthat there are a closed left ideal L having a right boundedapproximate identity and a closed right ideal R having a leftbounded approximate identity such that I = L + R. The proofuses ideas from the theory of boundaries of random walks ongroups. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: primary 43A20;secondary 42A85, 43A07, 46H10, 46H40, 60B11.  相似文献

Using the Wiener–Poisson isomorphism, we show that if(Ft)0 t 1 is a real, bounded, predictable process adaptedto the filtration of a compensated Poisson process (Xt)0 t 1, and if is the operator corresponding to multiplication by , then for any regular self-adjoint quantum semimartingale , the essentially self-adjoint quantumsemimartingale satisfies the quantum Ito formula. We also introduce a generalisation of the Poisson process toa measure space (M, M, µ) as an isometry I: L2 (M, M,µ) L2(, F, P) and give a new construction of the generalisedWiener–Poisson isomorphism WI: F+ (L2(M)) L2 (, F, P)using exponential vectors. Using C*-algebra theory, given anymeasure space we construct a canonical generalised Poisson process.Unlike other constructions, we make no a priori use of Poissonmeasures. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification 60G20, 60G35,46L53, 81S25.  相似文献

Let f, g: (Rn, 0) (Rp, 0) be two C map-germs. Then f and gare C0-equivalent if there exist homeomorphism-germs h and lof (Rn, 0) and (Rp, 0) respectively such that g = l f h–1.Let k be a positive integer. A germ f is k-C0-determined ifevery germ g with jk g(0) = jk f(0) is C0-equivalent to f. Moreover,we say that f is finitely topologically determined if f is k-C0-determinedfor some finite k. We prove a theorem giving a sufficient conditionfor a germ to be finitely topologically determined. We explainthis condition below. Let N and P be two C manifolds. Consider the jet bundle Jk(N,P) with fiber Jk(n, p). Let z in Jk(n, p) and let f be suchthat z = jkf(0). Define Whether (f) < k depends only on z, not on f. We can thereforedefine the set Let Wk(N, P) be the subbundle of Jk(N, P) with fiber Wk(n, p).Mather has constructed a finite Whitney (b)-regular stratificationSk(n, p) of Jk(n, p) – Wk(n, p) such that all strata aresemialgebraic and K-invariant, having the property that if Sk(N,P) denotes the corresponding stratification of Jk(N, P) –Wk(N, P) and f C(N, P) is a C map such that jkf is multitransverseto Sk(N, P), jkf(N) Wk(N, P) = and N is compact (or f is proper),then f is topologically stable. For a map-germ f: (Rn, 0) (Rp, 0), we define a certain ojasiewiczinequality. The inequality implies that there exists a representativef: U Rp such that jkf(U – 0) Wk (Rn, Rp = and suchthat jkf is multitransverse to Sk (Rn, Rp) at any finite setof points S U – 0. Moreover, the inequality controlsthe rate jkf becomes non-transverse as we approach 0. We showthat if f satisfies this inequality, then f is finitely topologicallydetermined. 1991 Mathematics Subject Classification: 58C27.  相似文献

M. J. D. Powell This paper concerns the fast evaluation of radial basis functions. It describes the mathematics of hierarchical and fast multipolemethods for fast evaluation of splines of the form where is a positive integer andp is a low-degree polynomial. Splines s of this form are polyharmonicsplines in 3 and have been found to be very useful for providingsolutions to scattered data interpolation problems in 3. Asit is now well known, hierarchical methods reduce the incrementalcost of a single extra evaluation from O(N) to O(log N) operationsand reduce the cost of a matrix–vector product (evaluationof s at all the centres) from O(N2) to O(N log N) operations. We give appropriate far- and near-field expansions, togetherwith error estimates, uniqueness theorems and translation formulae.A hierarchical code based on these formulae is detailed andsome numerical results are given.  相似文献

Let G be a locally compact group. We show that L1(G) does notcontain any analytic semigroups which are bounded on the half-disc,by using some facts about the analytic Radon-Nikodm propertyin Banach spaces. This solves a question raised by J. Esterle.  相似文献

Hopf C*-Algebras   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this paper we define and study Hopf C*-algebras. Roughlyspeaking, a Hopf C*-algebra is a C*-algebra A with a comultiplication: A M(A A) such that the maps a b (a)(1 b) and a (a 1)(b)have their range in A A and are injective after being extendedto a larger natural domain, the Haagerup tensor product A hA. In a purely algebraic setting, these conditions on are closelyrelated to the existence of a counit and antipode. In this topologicalcontext, things turn out to be much more subtle, but neverthelessone can show the existence of a suitable counit and antipodeunder these conditions. The basic example is the C*-algebra C0(G) of continuous complexfunctions tending to zero at infinity on a locally compact groupwhere the comultiplication is obtained by dualizing the groupmultiplication. But also the reduced group C*-algebra of a locally compact group with thewell-known comultiplication falls in this category. In factall locally compact quantum groups in the sense of Kustermansand the first author (such as the compact and discrete ones)as well as most of the known examples are included. This theory differs from other similar approaches in that thereis no Haar measure assumed. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 46L65, 46L07, 46L89.  相似文献

Let L denote a right-invariant sub-Laplacian on an exponential, hence solvable Lie group G, endowed with a left-invariant Haarmeasure. Depending on the structure of G, and possibly alsothat of L, L may admit differentiable Lp-functional calculi,or may be of holomorphic Lp-type for a given p 2. ‘HolomorphicLp-type’ means that every Lp-spectral multiplier for Lis necessarily holomorphic in a complex neighbourhood of somenon-isolated point of the L2-spectrum of L. This can in factonly arise if the group algebra L1(G) is non-symmetric. Assume that p 2. For a point in the dual g* of the Lie algebrag of G, denote by ()=Ad*(G) the corresponding coadjoint orbit. It is proved that every sub-Laplacian on G is of holomorphicLp-type, provided that there exists a point g* satisfying Boidol'scondition (which is equivalent to the non-symmetry of L1(G)),such that the restriction of () to the nilradical of g is closed. This work improves on results in previous work by Christ andMüller and Ludwig and Müller in twofold ways: on theone hand, no restriction is imposed on the structure of theexponential group G, and on the other hand, for the case p>1,the conditions need to hold for a single coadjoint orbit only, and not for an open set of orbits. It seems likely that the condition that the restriction of ()to the nilradical of g is closed could be replaced by the weakercondition that the orbit () itself is closed. This would thenprove one implication of a conjecture by Ludwig and Müller, according to which there exists a sub-Laplacian of holomorphicL1 (or, more generally, Lp) type on G if and only if there existsa point g* whose orbit is closed and which satisfies Boidol'scondition.  相似文献

Let M be an orientable connected and compact real hypersurfaceof the complex space form C(n + 1)/2. If the mean curvature and the function f = g(A, ) of hypersurface M satisfy the inequalityn22 (n2 – 1) + f2, where is the characteristic vectorfield, A is the shape operator and (n – 1) is the infimumof the Ricci curvatures of hypersurface M, then it is shownthat is a constant and M is the sphere Sn(2) in C(n + 1)/2.  相似文献

Let E2(T) denote the error term in the asymptotic formula forT0|(+it)|4dt. It is proved that there exist constants A>0,B>1 such that for TT0>0 every interval [T, BT] containspoints T1, T2 for which and that T0|E2(t)|adt>>T1+(a/2) for any fixed a1. Theseresults complement earlier results of Motohashi and Ivi thatT0E2(t)dt<<T3/2 and that T0E22(t)dt<<T2logCT forsome C>0. Omega-results analogous to the above ones are obtainedalso for the error term in the asymptotic formula for the Laplacetransform of |(+it)|4.  相似文献
