The fundamental spectrum and the parameters of the potential function of a number of saturated hydrocarbon molecules are calculated in an anharmonic approximation. The calculation is performed by the variational technique using a minimal Morse-harmonic basis. The potential function is taken as the sum of the Morse function for CH bonds and the harmonic function for the skeletal and deformation vibrations. The initial approximation for the potential function is found by ab initio calculations in a 6-31G basis and refined by solving the inverse problem. The calculated CH bond dissociation energies depend significantly on the molecular structure and on the position of CH bonds in the molecule. These energies correlate well with the experimental cleavage energies of these bonds. The changes in the dipole moment of the molecule induced by vibrations were found by ab initio calculations in a 6-31G basis. The calculated IR transmission curves are in good agreement with the experimental curves.  相似文献

The Grimme-D3 semi-empirical dispersion energy correction has been implemented for the original effective fragment potential for water (EFP1), and for systems that contain water molecules described by both correlated ab initio quantum mechanical (QM) molecules and EFP1. Binding energies obtained with these EFP1-D and QM/EFP1-D methods were tested using 27 benchmark species, including neutral, protonated, deprotonated, and auto-ionized water clusters and nine solute–water binary complexes. The EFP1-D and QM/EFP1-D binding energies are compared with those obtained using fully QM methods: second-order perturbation theory, and coupled cluster theory, CCSD(T), at the complete basis set (CBS) limit. The results show that the EFP1-D and QM/EFP1-D binding energies are in good agreement with CCSD(T)/CBS binding energies with a mean absolute error of 5.9 kcal/mol for water clusters and 0.8 kcal/mol for solute–water binary complexes. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

An intramolecular NEMO potential is presented for the N-formylglycinamide molecule together with an intermolecular potential for the N-formylglycinamide-water system. The intramolecular N-formylglycinamide potential can be used as a building block for the backbone of polypeptides and proteins. Two intramolecular minima have been obtained. One, denoted as C5, is stabilized by a hydrogen bonded five member ring, and the other, denoted as C7, corresponds to a seven membered ring. The interaction between one water molecule and the N-formylglycinamide system is also studied and compared with Hartree-Fock SCF calculations and with the results obtained for some of the more commonly used force fields. The agreement between the NEMO and SCF energies for the complexes is in general superior to that of the other force fields. In the C7 region the surfaces obtained from the intramolecular part of the commonly used force fields are too flat compared to the NEMO potential and the ab initio calculations. We further analyze the possibility of using a charge distribution obtained from one conformation to describe the charge distribution of other conformations. We have found that the use of polarizabilities and generic dipoles can model most of the changes in charge density due to the different geometry of the new conformations, but that one can expect additional errors in the interaction energies that are of the order of 1 kcal/mol.  相似文献

The binding energies and the equilibrium hydrogen bond distances as well as the potential energy curves of 48 hydrogen‐bonded amide–thymine and amide–uracil dimers are evaluated from the analytic potential energy function established in our lab recently. The calculation results show that the potential energy curves obtained from the analytic potential energy function are in good agreement with those obtained from MP2/6‐311+G** calculations by including the BSSE correction. For all the 48 dimers, the analytic potential energy function yields the binding energies of the MP2/6‐311+G** with BSSE correction within the error limits of 0.50 kcal/mol for 46 dimers, only two differences are larger than 0.50 kcal/mol and the largest one is only 0.60 kcal/mol. The analytic potential energy function produces the equilibrium hydrogen bond distances of the MP2/6‐311+G** with BSSE correction within the error limits of 0.050 Å for all the 48 dimers. The analytic potential energy function is further applied to four more complicated hydrogen‐bonded amide–base systems involving amino acid side chain and β‐sheet. The values of the binding energies and equilibrium hydrogen bond distances obtained from the analytic potential energy function are also in good agreement with those obtained from MP2 calculations with the BSSE correction. These results demonstrate that the analytic potential energy function can be used to evaluate the binding energies in hydrogen‐bonded amide–base dimers quickly and accurately. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The relative energies of one-, two-, and three-dimensional Bravais lattice Lennard-Jones particles can be calculated by lattice sums. The expression of lattice sums over a Lennard-Jones potential can be manipulated into a form that converges rapidly. A formalism capable of calculating the lattice potential at arbitrary points of a completely general lattice has been developed. This method provides an alternative way to calculate the relative energies from the surface and the interior bulk sites of many chemical systems. The method is illustrated with application to hcp and fcc Lennard-Jonesium, both for the relative binding energy and for calculating the potential along the geometric diffusion pathway between tetrahedral and octahedral interstitial sites. Diffusion from the tetrahedral site to the octahedral site experiences a barrier of 752.600 in units of 4 epsilon. The reverse pathway experiences a barrier of 1035.614 in units of 4 epsilon.  相似文献

Some relations between lattice energies calculated from various simple equations are pointed out. It is found that these equations give values of the variation of compressibility with pressure that agree poorly with experiments, at least for sodium and cesium chloride, bromide, and iodide. Equations which take this variation into account are developed, and it is found that calculated values of the lattice energy vary very little with the exact equation used. On the whole these extended equations give better agreement between the calculated and observed lattice energies.  相似文献

The energies and oscillator strengths of exciton transitions in crystalline naphthalene, anthracene, tetracene and pentacene are calculated using second quantized boson theory. The lattice sums of Coulomb exciton transfer interactions consist of an Ewald sum of molecular point dipole-dipole interations and a direct sum of nondipolar interactions calculated from PPP wavefunctions using the atomic—multipole representation of transition charge densities. The calculated exciton energies and oscillator strengths are compared with available experimental data. For anthracene, inclusion of the nondipolar interactions leads to substantially better agreement between theory and experiment. For tetracene and pentracene, the factor group splittings of the lowest transition are determined primarily by crystal induced mixing with higher transitions.  相似文献

Accurate lattice energies of organic crystals are important i.e. for the pharmaceutical industry. Periodic DFT calculations with atom‐centered Gaussian basis functions with the Turbomole program are used to calculate lattice energies for several non‐covalently bound organic molecular crystals. The accuracy and convergence of results with basis set size and k‐space sampling from periodic calculations is evaluated for the two reference molecules benzoic acid and naphthalene. For the X23 benchmark set of small molecular crystals accurate lattice energies are obtained using the PBE‐D3 functional. In particular for hydrogen‐bonded systems, a sufficiently large basis set is required. The calculated lattice energy differences between enantiopure and racemic crystal forms for a prototype set of chiral molecules are in good agreement with experimental results and allow the rationalization and computer‐aided design of chiral separation processes. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The relation between the lattice energies and the bulk moduli on binary inorganic crystals was studied, and the concept of lattice energy density is introduced. We find that the lattice energy densities are in good linear relation with the bulk moduli in the same type of crystals, the slopes of fitting lines for various types of crystals are related to the valence and coordination number of cations of crystals, and the empirical expression of calculated slope is obtained. From crystal structure, the calculated results are in very good agreement with the experimental values. At the same time, by means of the dielectric theory of the chemical bond and the calculating method of the lattice energy of complex crystals, the estimative method of the bulk modulus of complex crystals was established reasonably, and the calculated results are in very good agreement with the experimental values.  相似文献

In this article, the results of a recently implemented DFT a posteriori and Kohn-Sham (KS ) linear combination of atomic orbital computational scheme for solids are presented. The equilibrium lattice parameters, bulk moduli, and lattice energies are calculated for eight crystallized systems. Local density approximation (LDA ) and generalized gradient approximation (GCA ) functionals and potentials are used. The maps of the Hartree-Fock (HF ) and Ks electronic densities and band structures are depicted. The KS results confirm the trend of the a posteriori scheme. Very good agreement between calculated and experimental lattice energies has been found for GGA potentials. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The algebraic Hamiltonian of NO2 is optimized using U(4) algebra via fitting to 102 observed vibrational lines. The RMS error of the fitting is 2.39 cm?1. We calculated highly excited vibrational energy levels using this optimized Hamiltonian, and then obtained the potential energy surface for the electronic ground state by using the classical limit of the U(4) algebraic Hamiltonian. We also calculated the dissociation energies, the force constants etc. Our results are in good agreement with the other theoretical results. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The ground states of the M-NH(3) (M=Na,Al,Ga,In,Cu,Ag) complexes and their cations have been studied with density functional theory and coupled cluster [CCSD(T)] methods. The adiabatic ionization potentials (AIPs) of these complexes are calculated, and these are compared to results from high-resolution zero-electron kinetic energy photoelectron spectroscopy. By extrapolating the CCSD(T) energies to the complete basis set (CBS) limit and including the core-valence, scalar relativistic, spin-orbit, and zero-point corrections, the CCSD(T) method is shown to be able to predict the AIPs of these complexes to better than 6 meV or 0.15 kcal/mol. 27 exchange-correlation functionals, including one in the local density approximation, 13 in the generalized gradient approximation (GGA), and 13 with hybrid GGAs, were benchmarked in the calculations of the AIPs. The B1B95, mPW1PW91, B98, B97-1, PBE1PBE, O3LYP, TPSSh, and HCTH93 functionals give an average error of 0.1 eV for all the complexes studied, with the B98 functional alone yielding a maximum error of 0.1 eV. In addition, the calculated metal-ammonia harmonic stretching frequencies with the CCSD(T) method are in excellent agreement with their experimental values, whereas the B3LYP method tends to underestimate these stretching frequencies. The metal-ammonia binding energies were also calculated at the CCSD(T)/CBS level, and are in excellent agreement with the available experimental values considering the error limits, except for Ag-NH(3) and Ag(+)-NH(3), where the calculations predict stronger bond energies than measured by about 4 kcal/mol, just outside the experimental error bars of +/-3 kcal/mol.  相似文献

An analytic potential energy function is proposed and applied to evaluate the amide–amide and amide–water hydrogen‐bonding interaction energies in peptides. The parameters in the analytic function are derived from fitting to the potential energy curves of 10 hydrogen‐bonded training dimers. The analytic potential energy function is then employed to calculate the N? H…O?C, C? H…O?C, N? H…OH2, and C?O…HOH hydrogen‐bonding interaction energies in amide–amide and amide–water dimers containing N‐methylacetamide, acetamide, glycine dipeptide, alanine dipeptide, N‐methylformamide, N‐methylpropanamide, N‐ethylacetamide and/or water molecules. The potential energy curves of these systems are therefore obtained, including the equilibrium hydrogen bond distances R(O…H) and the hydrogen‐bonding energies. The function is also applied to calculate the binding energies in models of β‐sheets. The calculation results show that the potential energy curves obtained from the analytic function are in good agreement with those obtained from MP2/6‐31+G** calculations by including the BSSE correction, which demonstrate that the analytic function proposed in this work can be used to predict the hydrogen‐bonding interaction energies in peptides quickly and accurately.

The high-temperature heat capacity of three lanthanide orthophosphates of monazite structure have been measured in the temperature range (450 to 1570) K. The data have been analysed in terms of a lattice term, represented by the 4f0 and 4f7 compounds LaPO4 and GdPO4, and an electronic term for CePO4. The calculated excess heat capacity thus obtained is in reasonable agreement with that calculated from the crystal field energies.  相似文献

Electronic structures of the title complexes have been studied using quantum chemical computations by different methods. It is shown that the results of Xalpha calculations agree well with expectations from classical ligand-field theory, but both are far from being in agreement with the results given by ab initio calculations. The HOMO in the ab initio Hartree-Fock molecular orbital diagrams of all these complexes is a chalcogen p(pi) lone pair orbital rather than the metal nonbonding d(xy)() orbital previously proposed. Electronic transition energies were calculated by CASSCF and CI methods. The results suggest that in the cases when Q = S, Se, and Te the lowest energy transitions should be those from the p(pi) lone pair orbitals to the metal-chalcogen pi orbitals. The calculated and observed electronic spectra of the oxo complex are in good agreement and very different from the spectra of the other complexes, and the lowest absorptions were accordingly assigned to transitions of different origins.  相似文献

The formation and physicochemical properties of polymer electrolytes strongly depend on the lattice energy of metal salts. An indirect but efficient way to estimate the lattice energy through the relationship between the heterolytic bond dissociation and lattice energies is proposed in this work. The heterolytic bond dissociation energies for alkali metal compounds were calculated theoretically using the Density Functional Theory (DFT) of B3LYP level with 6‐311+G(d,p) and 6‐311+G(2df,p) basis sets. For transition metal compounds, the same method was employed except for using the effective core potential (ECP) of LANL2DZ and SDD on transition metals for 6‐311+G(d,p) and 6‐311+G(2df,p) calculations, respectively. The dissociation energies calculated by 6‐311+G(2df,p) basis set combined with SDD basis set were better correlated with the experimental values with average error of ca. ±1.0% than those by 6‐311+G* combined with the LANL2DZ basis set. The relationship between dissociation and lattice energies was found to be fairly linear (r>0.98). Thus, this method can be used to estimate the lattice energy of an unknown ionic compound with reasonably high accuracy. We also found that the dissociation energies of transition metal salts were relatively larger than those of alkaline metal salts for comparable ionic radii. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The binding energies and the equilibrium hydrogen bond distances as well as the potential energy curves of 20 hydrogen‐bonded amide–base dimers are evaluated from the analytic potential energy function established in our laboratory recently. The analytic potential energy function is used to calculate the N? H···N, N? H···O?C, C? H···N, and C? H···O?C dipole–dipole attractive interaction energies and C?O···O?C, N? H···H? N, and N? H···H? C dipole–dipole repulsive interaction energies in the 20 dimers composed of DNA bases adenine, guanine, cytosine, or thymine and peptide amide. The calculation results show that the potential energy curves obtained from the analytic potential energy function are in good agreement with those obtained from MP2/6‐311+G** calculations by including the basis set superposition error (BSSE) correction. For all the 20 dimers, the analytic potential energy function yields the binding energies of the MP2/6‐311+G** with BSSE correction within the error limits of 0.50 kcal/mol for 19 dimers, only one difference is larger than 0.50 kcal/mol and the difference is only 0.61 kcal/mol. The analytic potential energy function produces the equilibrium hydrogen bond distances of the MP2/6‐311+G** with BSSE correction within the error limits of 0.030 Å for all the 20 dimers. The analytic potential energy function is further applied to four more complicated DNA base‐peptide amide systems involving amino acid side chain and β‐sheet. The values of the binding energies and equilibrium hydrogen bond distances obtained from the analytic potential energy function are also in good agreement with those obtained from MP2 calculations with the BSSE correction. These results demonstrate that the analytic potential energy function can be used to evaluate the binding energies in hydrogen‐bonded peptide amide–DNA base dimers quickly and accurately. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
