Seed proteins of Ricinus communis. III. Isolation and characterization of the two-component polypeptide chains of acid resins

It has been shown that the acid form of ricin — ricin T — consists of two nonidentical subunits: isoleucine and alanine subunits with molecular weights of 30 and 28 kDa, respectively. The isoelectric points, N- and C-terminal amino acids, and partial amino acid sequences of these subunits have been determined. O-acylated lignans from the wood of Abies species

Summary From the wood of the Siberian firAbies sibirica Ledeb. and the Khingan firA. nephrolepis Maxim., five new compounds have been isolated which are ester derivatives of the lignans lariciresinol, olivil, and hydroxymatairesinol.It has been established that olivil is esterified at the primary alcoholic hydroxyl by hydroxycinnamic acids — p-coumaric or ferulic — and lariciresinol is esterified by vanillic acid. The seed oils of some species of the family Cruciferae

Proteins of the seeds of Ricinus communis. IV. Amino acid sequence of the alanine subunit of ricin T from the seeds of Central Asian caster oil plant. Peptides from limited tryptic hydrolysis

To establish the primary structure of the CM-alanine subunit of ricin T, its limited tryptic hydrolysis has been performed. With the aid of Aminex Q-150S, followed by high-voltage paper electrophoresis, 14 peptides, amounting in total to 256 amino acid residues, have been isolated. A new plant growth regulator of microbial origin

A new plant growth regulator — an inhibitor of the germination of mustard seeds — has been isolated from a culture filtrate of a phytopathogenic fungus of the genusPhoma. The methyl and trimethylsilyl derivatives of this compound have been obtained. Its empirical formula — C₁₆H₂₂O₅ — has been determined. The structure of karatavic acid

Conclusions Karatavic acid has been isolated from the resin of the roots ofFerula karatavica Rgl. et Schmalh; this is an ether of umbelliferone and a hydroxy acid C₁₅H₂₄O₃ probably having the humulane type of hydrocarbon skeleton.
