In this paper, an ultra-high resolution photoassociation spectroscopy study on photoassociation of cesium atoms is reported. The cold cesium gas in the magneto-optical trap is illuminated by a photoassociation laser with red-tuning as large as 40 cm−1 below the 6S 1/2 + 6P 3/2 dissociation limit, and the photoassociation to the excited state ultracold molecule is detected. High signal-to-noise ratio is obtained by using the lock-in detection of the fluorescence from the modulated cold Cs atoms. The 0 g , 1g and 0 u + long-range states which correspond to 6S 1/2 + 6P 3/2 dissociation limit are present in the photoassociation spectrum. The effective coefficients of leading long-range interactions and the corresponding vibrational quantum number are obtained using LeRoy-Bernstein Law. It is found that photoassociation process creates rotating molecules and the high J value is a hint that higher partial waves participate in the PA process in the presence of trapping laser. Recent theoretical studies with alkali atoms A* excited to high Rydberg states predicted the existence of ultra-long-range molecular bound states. Such excited dimers have large electric dipole moments which, in combination with their long radiative lifetimes, make them excellent candidates for manipulation in applications. This Letter reports on experimental investigations of the self-broadening of Rb principal series lines, which revealed multiple satellites in the line wings. The positions of the satellites agree quantitatively with theoretically predicted minima in the excited long-range Rydberg states of Rb2.  相似文献

We report the detailed analysis of translationally cold rubidium molecule formation through photoassociation. Cold molecules are formed after spontaneous decay of photoexcited molecules from a laser cooled atomic sample, and are detected by selective mass spectroscopy after two-photon ionization into Rb 2 + ions. A spectroscopic study of the 0 g - (5 S + 5 P 3/2 ) pure long-range state of 87Rb2 is performed by detecting the ion yield as a function of the photoassociation laser frequency; the spectral data are theoretically analyzed within the semiclassical RKR approach. Molecular ionization is resonantly enhanced through either the 2 3 Π g or the 2 3 Σ + g intermediate molecular states. Some vibrational levels of the latter electronic state are observed and assigned here for the first time. Finally, cold molecules formation rates are calculated and compared to the experimentally measured ones, and the vibrational distribution of the formed molecules in the a 3 Σ + u ground triplet state is discussed. We present high energy-resolution photoemission measurements of the spectral density at the discrete quantized electronic levels of a two-dimensional (2D) electron gas. The dynamical 2D electron gas has been obtained by generating a strong accumulation layer at the (110) surface of narrow-gap III–V semiconductors. Exploitation of a number of cases generating band bending (metallic chains or clusters, atomic structure, defects) demonstrates the generality of 2D electron gas formation at charge-accumulated semiconductor surfaces. A self-consistent solution of the Poisson and Schrödinger equations gives the potential well shape, the sub-band energy level position and the accumulated charge density, in excellent agreement with the present experimental data.  相似文献

We present high resolution photoassociation spectroscopy of ultracold~(23)Na~(133)Cs molecules in a long-range c~3Σ~+state below the(3 S_(1/2)+ 6 P_(3/2)) asymptote. We perform photoassociation spectroscopy in a dual-species magneto-optical trap(MOT) and detect the photoassociation resonances using trap-loss spectroscopy. By fitting the experimental data with the semi-classical Le Roy–Bernstein formula, we deduce the long-range molecular coefficient C6 and derive the empirical potential energy curve in the long-range region.  相似文献

We observed high-resolution photoassociation spectra of laser-cooled ytterbium (Yb) atoms in the spin-forbidden 1S0 - 3P1 intercombination line. The rovibrational levels in the 0u+ state were measured for red detunings of the photoassociation laser ranging from 2.9 MHz to 1.97 GHz with respect to the atomic resonance. The rotational splitting of the vibrational levels near the dissociation limit were fully resolved due to the sub-MHz linewidth of the spectra in contrast to previous measurements using the spin-allowed singlet transition. In addition, from a comparison between the spectra of 174Yb and those of 176Yb, a d-wave shape resonance for 174Yb is strongly suggested.  相似文献

We report on the formation of translationally cold Cs2 ground state molecules through photoassociation in the 1u attractive molecular state below the 6 s 1/2 +6 p 3/2 dissociation limit. The cold molecules are obtained after spontaneous decay of photoassociated molecules in a MOT and in a dark SPOT. We also used polarized atoms, in the f =3, m f =+3Zeeman ground state. Purely asymptotic and adiabatic calculations including hyperfine interaction and rotation are in excellent agreement with observed structures. As expected, the 1u state is actually a pure long-range state, consisting of paired atoms, uniquely linked by the first terms of the multipole expansion of the electrostatic interaction. Photoassociation spectroscopy was used to determine the s-wave scattering length of 40Ca atoms in their electronic ground state. Vibrational levels were observed in an extended range of up to 182 GHz below the dissociation limit 4s2 1S0–4s4p 1P1. Thus, the frequency interval was nearly tripled, in which photoassociation was observed compared to previous measurements. The spectra were analyzed by means of quantum mechanical simulations. With the new data it was possible to resolve the discrepancy concerning the ground state scattering length presented in earlier publications [Phys. Rev. A 67, 043408 (2003); Eur. Phys. J. D 26, 155 (2003)]. An improved dipole-dipole coupling constant C3 Σ = 0.52306(20) ×103 cm-1 nm3 is obtained.  相似文献

The vitreous SiO2 samples irradiated with fast neutrons at a dose of 5×1017?2.2×1020 per cm2 are investigated by the Raman scattering technique. It is demonstrated that the maximum of the low-frequency Raman spectrum (boson peak) shifts with an increase in the irradiation dose, and the medium-range order size decreases from 25 Å for the initial glass to 19 Å for the sample subjected to irradiation at a maximum dose. It is revealed that the fast relaxation intensity obtained from analysis of the low-frequency Raman spectra linearly correlates with the specific volume of the studied samples.  相似文献

Photo-resonant pumping of X-ray lasers requires close coincidence of a strong emission line with a suitable absorbing transition. We use a high-resolution crystal spectrometer to verify five coincidences, one of which has apparently not yet appeared in published work. All but one of the coincidences are found to lie within one linewidth. With respect to X-ray laser photo-pumping three of the five coincidences seem to be promising candidates.  相似文献

We analyze the behavior of edge states in long-range(LR) interacting systems. In terms of lattice model Hamiltonian with the LR coupling, we determine analytically the condition of existence of edge states within the transfer matrix method(TMM). The expressions we obtain are general and hold for any choice of the LR hopping. The reason why edge states can appear is the transfer matrix in the bulk different from that in the boundary layers. Our predictions are in good agreement with numerical results by exact diagonalization. Our result is helpful in solving novel edge states in oneand two-dimensional(2D) superconductors with LR hopping and pairing.  相似文献

The photoassociation dynamics of ultracold lithium atoms controlled by a cut-off pulse has been investigated theoretically by solving numerically the time-dependent Schrödinger equation using the mapped Fourier grid method. The frequency components of the laser pulse close to the atomic resonance are partly cut off. Compared with the typical Gauss-type pulses, the cut-off pulse is helpful to suppress efficiently the weakly bound states and prepare the associated molecules in the lower vibrational states. Especially, the dependence of photoassociation probability on the cut-off position of the laser pulse is explored.  相似文献

The photoassociative spectroscopy of the Cs2 0 g - long-range molecular state dissociating into the asymptote is performed, using cold cesium atoms in a vapor-cell magneto-optical trap (MOT). Vibrational levels from v =0 to v =132 are identified, and their rotational structure is well resolved up J =8 for levels below v =74. These data are analyzed in terms of the Rydberg-Klein-Rees (RKR) procedure, and correspond to 99.6% of an effective potential curve with a minimum at ? and a cm-1 depth. Both ab initio calculations and simple model estimations predict a double-well structure for this potential curve, which cannot be reproduced presently by the RKR approach but which is confirmed by the presence of giant structures in the spectrum. The 1u()long-range state is also observed for the first time in Cs2.  相似文献

Tunneling spectroscopy has been performed on Sr(2)RuO(4) searching for the edge states peculiar to topological superconductivity. Conductance spectra exhibit broad humps with three types of peak shape: domelike peak, split peak, and two-step peak. By comparing the experiments with predictions for unconventional superconductivity, these varieties are shown to originate from multiband chiral p-wave symmetry with weak anisotropy of pair amplitude. The broad hump in the conductance spectrum is a direct manifestation of the edge state due to chiral p-wave superconductivity.  相似文献

The possibility of performing a quantitative analysis of vibrational states of nanocrystalline carbon has been explored by using the spectroscopic method of diffuse IR reflection. An expression derived from the Kubelka-Munk relation has been proposed and employed to investigate the effect of the original parameters of a sample (absorber concentration, sample dispersion, radiation frequency, scattering factors) on the characteristic features of IR spectra. The IR absorption bands observed in the diffuse reflection spectrum of pyrographite were assigned.  相似文献

Theoretical calculation of 85Rb and 133Cs D1 signals in polarization spectroscopy is presented by using the method of velocity-selective optical pumping in a four-level system. Since good agreement between theory and experiment has been found in Na D1 polarized signals, the theoretical calculation can be also applied to Rb and Cs D1 lines. Rb and Cs atoms have higher total angular momentum F in the hyperfine structures than Na atom and then the calculation is more complicated. The relative signal intensities in polarization spectroscopy are compared with those in saturation spectroscopy.  相似文献
