利用自行研制的纳秒脉冲实验平台(输出脉冲前沿30 ns,半宽百纳秒)和标准介电强度测试仪,对变压器油、甘油、去离子水、Galden HT200四种液体绝缘介质在直流与纳秒脉冲下的击穿特性进行了实验研究与结果比对,结果表明:在直流与纳秒脉冲下,Galden HT200均具有最高的击穿场强,且两种情况下均比变压器油高出40%以上;纳秒脉冲下,Galden HT200与变压器油的击穿场强均提高6.5~7倍,Galden HT200击穿过程耗时最短(ns量级),其次是变压器油(20 ns),然后依次为甘油(45 ns)和去离子水(70 ns);多次放电后,粘度系数最大的甘油更易在电极间隙处聚集碳化放电产物,粘度系数较小的Galden HT200和去离子水则无明显痕迹,但二者放电过程会产生明显的冲击波,多次放电后易造成间隙电极松动。

The surface laser-induced damage threshold fluence of sapphire is determined under various experimental conditions concerning the material irradiation (femtosecond, picosecond and nanosecond temporal regimes) and preparation (surface state). Single- and multiple-shot damage thresholds and plasma-emission thresholds for fused silica and CaF2 are reported for 790 nm photons as a function of laser pulse width (190 fs – 4.5 ps). The results are compared with single-shot plasma-emission measurements [1] and with multiple-shot damage measurements [2]. Both the damage threshold and the plasma-emission threshold are shown to decrease with decreasing pulse width over the entire pulse-width range investigated.  相似文献

Undistorted guided-wave propagation of subpicosecond terahertz pulses   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
We report efficient quasi-optic coupling of a freely propagating beam of terahertz (THz) pulses into a parallel-plate copper waveguide (with a plate separation of 108mum) and subsequent low-loss, single-TEM-mode propagation with virtually no group-velocity dispersion. Undistorted, low-loss propagation of the incoming 0.3-ps FWHM THz pulses was observed within the bandwidth from 0.1 to 4 THz for a length of 24.4 mm. We compare experimentally derived values for the absorption and phase velocity with theory to show consistency. This demonstration is direct proof of the excellent performance of the parallel-plate waveguide as a wideband THz interconnect.  相似文献

Grooves laser-micromachined in InP using 130 fs and 8 ns pulses with fluences 2 and 0.7 J/cm2 are investigated by cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy. At the fluence of 2 J/cm2, irradiation with both femtosecond and nanosecond laser pulses yield substantial resolidified layers with a maximum thickness of 0.5 m. In contrast, at the fluence of 0.7 J/cm2, irradiation with nanosecond pulses leads to a layer of similar thickness, while femtosecond irradiation produces laser induced periodic surface structures with minimal resolidified material. For both fluences, femtosecond pulses generate substantial densities of defects extending over a few microns in depth, while nanosecond laser irradiation leads to no observable damage beneath the resolidified layer. The high peak power density and the stress confinement obtained from femtosecond pulses, along with incubation effects, are identified as the major factors leading the observed plastic deformations. An experimental study of high-order harmonic generation in nitrogen molecules (N2) has been made using intense visible (616 nm) dye-laser pulses, where the harmonic radiation up to the 21st order is observed. The harmonic distribution represents a plateau that is preceded by an intensity minimum at the 7th order. The harmonic generation characteristics were atomic-like. It has been found that there are some similarities in the high-order harmonic generation characteristics for N2 and Ar, including the highest-order harmonics, harmonic distributions, and the influence of the multiphoton ionization on the high-order harmonic generation. These similarities are reasonably attributed to the energetic correspondence of excited levels and ionization potentials. It is pointed out that the ac Stark shift of excited levels and ionization potentials plays an important role also in the high-order harmonic generation in N2.  相似文献

Electrical breakdown in alkali halide crystals subjected to ∼10-ns-long electrical pulses is studied. Two, primary and basic, channels of the anodic discharge are noted. In the presence of the primary channel, the other arises at static breakdown voltages. Otherwise, the basic channel forms at voltages exceeding the static breakdown voltage by more than four times. The basic channel is assumed to form via a cascade of Auger transitions. The generation and migration of linear defects seem to play a significant role in the basic channel formation. The enhancement of the pulsed dielectric strength of the crystals is related to conditions of current passage through the metal-insulator interface.  相似文献

Single light pulses, generated by a mode-locked Nd-glass laser, were shortened with saturable absorbers of low initial transmissionT 0. The pulse duration was reduced from 8 to 2.6 ps after a single pass through a dye cell ofT 0=10–7. Light pulses as short as 0.5 ps were observed after five transits through an absorberamplifier system. Detailed calculations of the stationary and the transient situation (with respect to the dye relaxation time) are presented to demonstrate optimum conditions for the pulse shortening.  相似文献

A novel parametric generator-amplifier system is discussed which for the first time allows the generation of tunable pulses in the infrared with substantial pulse shortening and with high energy conversion of up to 20%. Starting with an intense laser pulse of a mode-locked Nd: glass laser system of ≈ 8 ps, a signal pulse at ≈ 6500 cm-1 is produced by a single path parametric generator. This signal pulse is subsequently amplified generating an intense idler pulse in the IR. Varying the time delay between the signal and pump pulse in the amplifier stage, the pulse duration of signal and idler is readily adjusted. The shortest pulses are nearly bandwidth limited of duration 0.5 ps with energy conversion exceeding 5% in the frequency range around 6500 cm-1.  相似文献

This paper presents the design and testing results for a generator of bipolar voltage pulses of amplitude ±200 kV, duration ∼3.5 ns, and repetition rate up to 100 Hz across a 12.5-Ω matched load. The mode of multichannel switching of spark gaps with subnanosecond time delays between the operation of the channels has been realized. A numerical simulation of the generator operation has been performed with its design represented by homogeneous lines and with the parameters of spark gaps described in terms of the Felsenthal-Praud criterion for the breakdown delay and by the Rompe-Weitzel spark model. It has been demonstrated that mixtures of ordinary and inert gases as well as hydrogen show promise as fill gases for spark gaps to reduce losses. Some results of an experimental and theoretical study of the interaction of laser pulses with plastic foams are reported. The propagation velocity of a hydrodynamic peturbation which was initiated in foam target under the action of a laser pulse with intensityq≈2·1013 W/cm2 and the velocity distribution function of plasma ions were measured; the preliminary results of time-integrated spectroscopic measurements of an intense red-shifted signal are also reported. A self-consistent model of the foam target’s laser plasma formed in a hydrodynamic mode was derived. The predictions of this model are consistent with experimental results. A model of microprocesses of laser plasma formation in a structured material was also developed. The results of numerical simulations by 1D and 2D computer codes are also reported. The absorption of 250 fs KrF laser pulses incident on solid targets of aluminum, copper and gold has been measured for normal incidence as a function of laser intensity in the range of 1012–1014 W cm–2 and as a function of polarization and angle of incidence for the intensity range of 1014–2.5×1015 W cm–2. As the intensity increases from 1012 W cm–2 the reflectivity at normal incidence changes from the low-intensity mirror reflectivity value to values in the range of 0.5–0.61 at 1014 W cm–2. For this intensity maximum absorption of 63–80% has been observed for p-polarized radiation at angles of incidence in the range of 54°–57°, increasing with atomic number. The results are compared with the expected Fresnel reflectivity from a sharp vacuum-plasma interface with the refractive index given by the Drude model and also to numerical calculations of reflectivity for various scale length density profiles. Qualitative agreement is found with the Fresnel/Drude model and quantitative agreement is noticed with the numerical calculations of absorption on a steep density profile with normalized collision frequencies, v/, in the range of 0.13–0.15 at critical density and normalized density gradient scale lengths, L/0, in the range of 0.018–0.053 for a laser intensity of 1014 W cm–2.At 2.5×1015 W cm–2 a small amount of preplasma is present and maximum absorption of 64–76% has been observed for p-polarized radiation at angles of incidence in the range of 45°–50°.Dedicated to Prof. Dr. Rudolf Wienecke on the occasion of his 65th birthdayOn leave from: Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Alberta, Edmonton, T6G 2G7, Canada  相似文献

We describe the generation of subpicosecond electrical pulses by optical rectification of ultrashort optical pulses. The electrical pulses are generated by the second-order nonlinear response of a LiTaO(3) crystal bonded to a coplanar transmission line. A bipolar temporal waveform with a width of 875 fs was measured after a propagation distance of 175mum . This pulse width was limited by the response time of the photoconductive sampler. We observed both broadening and amplitude reduction in the temporal waveform owing to propagation.  相似文献

Interdiffusion processes are induced by nanosecond laser pulses from an excimer laser. The Bi-based systems studied are formed by a Bi layer and a Sb or Ge layer. Configurations with Bi at the surface layer or at the innermost layer are both studied. Real-time reflectivity measurements are performed during the irradiation to determine the process kinetics and times and Rutherford backscattering spectrometry is used to obtain the concentration depth profiles. It will be shown that there is an interfacially initiated diffusion process in the Bi-Sb system and that the diffusion coefficients of this system within the liquid phase are in the 10–5–10–6 cm2/s range. The Bi-Ge system shows instead little mixing, the diffusion coefficients of the system within the liquid phase being at least two orders of magnitude lower. The differences observed when Bi is the surface layer or the innermost one are related to the different thermal responses of the system.  相似文献

The optoacoustic transformation of 5-ns laser pulses was used to excite broadband longitudinal acoustic pulses in a 0.4-mm-thick steel plate. An electromagnetic acoustic transducer that incorporated a flat wire coil with a diameter of 5 mm and an amplifier was proposed as a device for contactless ultrasound detection. A permanent cylindrical magnet and a coil close to the printed-circuit board of an operational amplifier were placed on one side of the sample, thus allowing the detection of the alternating electromagnetic field produced by pressure pulses excited on the opposite side. The frequency spectrum of detected pulses ranged from 5 to 200 MHz.  相似文献
