Abstract

Let  be a simple classical Lie algebra over a field F of characteristic p > 7. We show that > d () = 2, where d() is the number of generators of . Let G be a profinite group. We say that G has lower rankl, if there are {G α} open subgroups which from a base for the topology at the identity and each G α is generated (topologically) by no more than l elements. There is a standard way to associate a Lie algebra L(G) to a finitely generated (filtered) pro-p group G. Suppose L(G) ?  ? tF p [t], where  is a simple Lie algebra over F p , the field of p elements. We show that the lower rank of G is ≤ d () + 1. We also show that if  is simple classical of rank r and p > 7 or p 2r 2 ? r, then the lower rank is actually 2.  相似文献

The optimal systems and symmetry breaking interactions for the (1+2)-dimensional heat equation are systematically studied. The equation is invariant under the nine-dimensional symmetry group H 2. The details of the construction for an one-dimensional optimal system is presented. The optimality of one- and two-dimensional systems is established by finding some algebraic invariants under the adjoint actions of the group H 2. A list of representatives of all Lie subalgebras of the Lie algebra h 2 of the Lie group H 2 is given in the form of tables and many of their properties are established. We derive the most general interactions F(t,x,y,u,u x ,u y ) such that the equation u t =u xx +u yy +F(t,x,y,u,u x ,u y ) is invariant under each subgroup.  相似文献

The covariant Weyl (spin s = 1/2) and Maxwell (s = 1) equations in certain local charts (u, φ) of a space-time (M, g) are considered. It is shown that the condition g00(x) > 0 for all x ε u is necessary and sufficient to rewrite them in a unified manner as evolution equations δtφ = L(s)φ. Here L(s) is a linear first order differential operator on the pre—Hilbert space (C (Ut, 2s+1). (…)), where Ut ? IR3 is the image of the coordinate map of the spacelike hyper-surface t = const, and (φ, C) = ?Ut ? *Q d(3)x with a suitable Hermitian n × n- matrix Q = Q(t,x). The total energy of the spinor field ? with respect to Ut is then simply given by E = 〈?,?〉. In this way inequalities for the energy change rate with respect to time, δt|?|2 = 2Re (?, L(s)?) are obtained. As an application, the Kerr—Newman black hole is studied, yielding quantitative estimates for the energy change rate. These estimates especially confirm the energy conservation of the Weyl field and the well—known superradiance of electromagnetic waves.  相似文献

We consider some functional Banach algebras with multiplications as the usual convolution product * and the so‐called Duhamel product ?. We study the structure of generators of the Banach algebras (C(n)[0, 1], *) and (C(n)[0, 1], ?). We also use the Banach algebra techniques in the calculation of spectral multiplicities and extended eigenvectors of some operators. Moreover, we give in terms of extended eigenvectors a new characterization of a special class of composition operators acting in the Lebesgue space Lp[0, 1] by the formula (Cφf)(x) = f(φ(x)).  相似文献

Abstract

Ternary derivations, ternary Cayley derivations and ternary automorphisms are computed over fields of characteristic ≠ 2, 3 for the algebras A t obtained by the Cayley–Dickson duplication process. While the derivation algebra of A t stops growing after t = 3, the ternary derivation algebra significantly decreases in the step from the octonions A 3 to the sedenions A 4, revealing the symmetry lost on that stage.  相似文献

In this article, we study the asymptotic behaviour of solutions to the nonlocal operator u t (x, t) = (?1) n?1 (J * Id ? 1) n (u(x, t)), x ∈ ? N , which is the nonlocal analogous to the higher order local evolution equation v t = (?1) n?1(Δ) n v. We prove that the solutions of the nonlocal problem converge to the solution of the higher order problem with the right-hand side given by powers of the Laplacian when the kernel J is rescaled in an appropriate way. Moreover, we prove that solutions to both equations have the same asymptotic decay rate as t goes to infinity.  相似文献

Fix a direction e* ∈ 𝕊 n?1 arbitrarily. Assuming that ?D(t) is strictly convex for 0 ≤ t ≤ T, we show that k and sup {ex; x ∈ D(t)} (0 ≤ t ≤ T), in particular D(t) itself, are determined from the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map : f → ?ν u(t, x)|(0, T)×?Ω. The knowledge of the initial data u 0 is not used in the proof. If we know min0≤tT (sup xD(t) x·e*), we have the same conclusion from the local Dirichlet-to-Neumann map. Numerical examples of stationary and moving circles inside the unit disk are shown. The results have applications to nondestructive testing. Consider a physical body consisting of homogeneous material with constant heat conductivity except for a moving inclusion with different conductivity. Then the location and shape of the inclusion can be monitored from temperature and heat flux measurements performed at the boundary of the body. Such a situation appears for example in blast furnaces used in ironmaking.  相似文献

We study scattering problems for the one-dimensional nonlinear Dirac equation (?t + α?x + iβ)Φ = λ|Φ|p?1Φ. We prove that if p > 3 (resp. p > 3 + 1/6), then the wave operator (resp. the scattering operator) is well-defined on some 0-neighborhood of a weighted Sobolev space. In order to prove these results, we use linear operators D(t)xD(?t) and t?x + x?t ? α/2, where {D(t)}t∈? is the free Dirac evolution group. In this paper, a symmetry classification of a (2+1)-nonlinear wave equation uttf(u)(uxx+uyy)=0 where f(u) is a smooth function on u, using Lie group method, is given. Let V be a complex vector space with basis {x 1, x 2, . . . , x n } and G be a finite subgroup of GL(V). The tensor algebra T(V) over the complex is isomorphic to the polynomials in the non-commutative variables x 1, x 2, . . . , x n with complex coefficients. We want to give a combinatorial interpretation for the decomposition of T(V) into simple G-modules. In particular, we want to study the graded space of invariants in T(V) with respect to the action of G. We give a general method for decomposing the space T(V) into simple modules in terms of words in a Cayley graph of the group G. To apply the method to a particular group, we require a homomorphism from a subalgebra of the group algebra into the character algebra. In the case of G as the symmetric group, we give an example of this homomorphism from the descent algebra. When G is the dihedral group, we have a realization of the character algebra as a subalgebra of the group algebra. In those two cases, we have an interpretation for the graded dimensions and the number of free generators of the algebras of invariants in terms of those words.  相似文献

Let kQ be the path algebra of a quiver Q without oriented cycles with n vertices. An indecomposable kQ-module without self-extensions is called exceptional. The braid group B n with n ? 1 generators acts naturally on the set of complete exceptional sequences. Crawley-Boevey (Proceedings of ICRA VI, Carleton-Ottawa, 1992) and Ringel (Contemp. Math. 1994, 171, 339–352) have pointed out that this action is transitive. The number of complete exceptional sequences for kQ representation finite will be computed here and it is shown to be independent of the orientation of the arrows of the quiver Q. The factor group of the braid group which acts freely on the set of complete exceptional sequences can be regarded as a subgroup of the symmetric group S ? n , where ? n is the number of complete exceptional sequences of the algebra kQ. This group is known for certain special types of quivers. Some other interesting relations of the acting group will be given.  相似文献

It is shown that {St} is subnormal if and only if φ2 is the product of an exponential function and the Laplace-Stieltjes transform of an increasing function of total variation one. This paper reviews some recent results on the parafermion vertex operator algebra associated to the integrable highest weight module L(k, 0) of positive integer level k for any affine Kac-Moody Lie algebra ĝ, where g is a finite dimensional simple Lie algebra. In particular, the generators and the C 2-cofiniteness of the parafermion vertex operator algebras are discussed. A proof of the well-known fact that the parafermion vertex operator algebra can be realized as the commutant of a lattice vertex operator algebra in L(k, 0) is also given.  相似文献
