It is shown thatX is finite if and only ifC(X) has a finite Goldie dimension. More generally we observe that the Goldie dimension ofC(X) is equal to the Souslin number ofX. Essential ideals inC(X) are characterized via their corresponding z-filters and a topological criterion is given for recognizing essential ideals inC(X). It is proved that the Fréchet z-filter (cofinite z-filter) is the intersection of essential z-filters. The intersection of idealsO x wherex runs through nonisolated points inX is the socle ofC(X) if and only if every open set containing all nonisolated points is cofinite. Finally it is shown that if every essential ideal inC(X) is a z-ideal thenX is a P-space.  相似文献

It is shown that, in a category with a specified class of monics and under some mild hypothesis, there is a monoreflection maximum among those whose reflection maps lie in . Thus, for example, any variety, and most SP-classes in a variety, have both amaximum monoreflection and amaximum essential reflection (which might be the same, but frequently aren't, and which might be the identity functor, but frequently aren't). And, for example, under some mild hypotheses, beneath each completion lies a maximum monoreflection, so that, for example, any category of rings has amaximum functorial ring of quotients.  相似文献

Consider the ideal I⊆K[x,y,z]IK[x,y,z] corresponding to points p1,…,prp1,,pr of P2P2. We study the symbolic generic initial system  {gin(I(m))}m{gin(I(m))}m of such an ideal and its behaviour as mm gets large. In particular, we describe the limiting shape   of this system explicitly when p1,…,prp1,,pr are generic, assuming that the Uniform SHGH Conjecture holds for r≥9r9. The symbolic generic initial system and its limiting shape reflect information about the asymptotic behaviour of Hilbert functions of fat point ideals.  相似文献

This paper shows that for a local field K, a subfield kK and a variety X over k, X is complete if and only if for every finite field extension Kʹ | K, the set X(Kʹ) is compact in its strong topology. Abstract

Let R be a commutative ring. An ideal I of R is called a d-ideal (f d-ideal) provided that for each aI (finite subset F of I) and bR, Ann(a) ? Ann(b) (Ann(F) ? Ann(b)) implies that bI. It is shown that, the class of z0-ideals (hence all sz0-ideals), maximal ideals in an Artinian or in a Kasch ring, annihilator ideals, and minimal prime ideals over a d-ideal are some distinguished classes of d-ideals. Furthermore, we introduce the class of f d-ideals as a subclass of d-ideals in a commutative ring R. In this regard, it is proved that the ring R is a classical ring with property (A) if and only if every maximal ideal of R is an f d-ideal. The necessary and sufficient condition for which every prime f d-ideal of a ring R being a maximal or a minimal prime ideal is given. Moreover, the rings for which their prime d-ideals are z0-ideals are characterized. Finally, we prove that every prime f d-ideal of a ring R is a minimal prime ideal if and only if for each aR there exists a finitely generated ideal , for some n ∈ ? such that Ann(a, I) = 0. As a consequence, every prime f d-ideal in a reduced ring R is a minimal prime ideal if and only if X= Min(R) is a compact space.  相似文献

Abstract

For each adjoint functor U: A → X where X is an (?, M)-category having enough ?-projectives, we construct an (?, M)-algebraic hull E: (A, U) → (Â, Û), i.e., (Â, Û) is (epsiv; M)-algebraic and E has a certain denseness property. We show that there is a conglomerate of functors over X with respect to which the (? M)-algebraic categories are exactly the injective objects and characterize (? M)-algebraic hulls as injective hulls.  相似文献

Long and Herrington [3] have investigated some properties of the strongly -continuous functions. In this paper we strengthen some of these properties of Long and Herrington [3] by studying a new class of functions, called HC-continuous functions.  相似文献

Let , wheref(n) is the characteristic function of square-full integers. A formula is proved that can be used to obtain better upper bound estimate for (x). We get (x)=O(x 5/33+), which improves the exponent 11/72 obtained by R. Blasubramania and K. Ramachandra.  相似文献

Abstract

It is shown that (concretely) Cartesian closed topological hulls can be characterized as injective hulls in a rather natural setting. The characterization of locale hulls as injective hulls in the category of (meet-) semilattices by Bruns & Lakser and Born & Kimura constitutes a special case.  相似文献
