ABSTRACT

By defining a suitable adjoint process in the category of k-spaces, it is shown that systems that can be described by polynomial equations can be studied via the Arbib-Manes model of machines in a category. Let A be a possibly unbounded skew-adjoint operator on the Hilbert space X with compact resolvent. Let C be a bounded operator from D(A) to another Hilbert space Y. We consider the system governed by the state equation with the output y(t)=Cz(t). We characterize the exact observability of this system only in terms of C and of the spectral elements of the operator A. The starting point in the proof of this result is a Hautus-type test, recently obtained in Burq and Zworski (J. Amer. Soc. 17 (2004) 443-471) and Miller (J. Funct. Anal. 218 (2) (2005) 425-444). We then apply this result to various systems governed by partial differential equations with observation on the boundary of the domain. The Schrödinger equation, the Bernoulli-Euler plate equation and the wave equation in a square are considered. For the plate and Schrödinger equations, the main novelty brought in by our results is that we prove the exact boundary observability for an arbitrarily small observed part of the boundary. This is done by combining our spectral observability test to a theorem of Beurling on nonharmonic Fourier series and to a new number theoretic result on shifted squares.  相似文献

In this article, we derive uniform admissibility and observability properties for the finite element space semi-discretizations of , where A 0 is an unbounded self-adjoint positive definite operator with compact resolvent. To address this problem, we present a new spectral approach based on several spectral criteria for admissibility and observability of such systems. Our approach provides very general admissibility and observability results for finite element approximation schemes of , which stand in any dimension and for any regular mesh (in the sense of finite elements). Our results can be combined with previous works to derive admissibility and observability properties for full discretizations of . We also present applications of our results to controllability and stabilization problems. This paper is addressed to studying the exact controllability of stochastic Schrödinger equations by two controls. One is a boundary control and the other is an internal control in the diffusion term. By means of the duality argument, the control problem is converted into an observability problem for backward stochastic Schrödinger equations, and the desired observability estimate is obtained by a global Carleman estimate. At last, we give a result about the lack of exact controllability, which shows that the action of two controls is necessary.  相似文献

A complete solution is obtained to the suboptimal Nehari extension problem for transfer functions of parabolic systems with Dirichlet boundary control and smooth observations. The Nehari problem and its suboptimal extension are solved under the assumption that the system (A, B, C) has bounded controllability and observability maps, an L2-impulse response and a transfer matrix that is bounded and holomorphic on the right half-plane. Exponential stability of the semigroup is not assumed and the Hankel operator is not compact. A continuous resp. discrete r-dimensional (r1) system is the solution space of a system of linear partial differential resp. difference equations with constant coefficients for a vector of functions or distributions in r variables resp. of r-fold indexed sequences. Although such linear systems, both multidimensional and multivariable, have been used and studied in analysis and algebra for a long time, for instance by Ehrenpreis et al. thirty years ago, these systems have only recently been recognized as objects of special significance for system theory and for technical applications. Their introduction in this context in the discrete one-dimensional (r=1) case is due to J. C. Willems. The main duality theorem of this paper establishes a categorical duality between these multidimensional systems and finitely generated modules over the polynomial algebra in r indeterminates by making use of deep results in the areas of partial differential equations, several complex variables and algebra. This duality theorem makes many notions and theorems from algebra available for system theoretic considerations. This strategy is pursued here in several directions and is similar to the use of polynomial algebra in the standard one-dimensional theory, but mathematically more difficult. The following subjects are treated: input-output structures of systems and their transfer matrix, signal flow spaces and graphs of systems and block diagrams, transfer equivalence and (minimal) realizations, controllability and observability, rank singularities and their connection with the integral respresentation theorem, invertible systems, the constructive solution of the Cauchy problem and convolutional transfer operators for discrete systems. Several constructions on the basis of the Gröbner basis algorithms are executed. The problems of solvability, controllability, and observability for the singular systemKx(t)=Ax(t)+Bu(t) are studied, whereK is a singular, square matrix andu(t) is a complex vector function sufficiently differentiable. The classical theories of matrix pencils are first related to the solvability of singular systems. Then, the concepts of reachability, controllability, and observability of regular systems are extended to singular systems. Finally, the set of reachable states is described. The proposed matrix conditions for testing the controllability and observability of singular systems are simple and always feasible.  相似文献

It is well known that, when a full rank observable pair (C,A) is slightly perturbed, the new observability indices k′ are majorized by the initial ones k, k?k′. Conversely, any indices k′ majorized by k can be obtained by perturbing (C,A). The aim of this paper is the explicit construction of perturbations of (C,A) which have the desired indices k′ by means of a sequence of uniparametrical versal perturbations. Even more, using versal deformations we refine this construction in such a way that the perturbation has the maximum possible number of zeros and no parameters in the square part.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Following the Arbib-Manes approach to machines in categories, the categories Mach(C) of machines and TBeh(C) of total behaviours are constructed, where c is a class of state-behaviour processes. It is shown that the total external behaviour functor E: Mach(C) → TBeh(C) has a left adjoint and that the free realization of any total behaviour is reachable. Furthermore, the restriction of E to the full subcategory of Mach(C) with all reachable machines as objects has as right adjoint the minimal realization functor.  相似文献

We define observability and reachability and introduce the corresponding Gramians for a Levy driven linear system like Benner, Damm in [3] which focused on the case of Wiener noise. We additionally show that the sets of observable and reachable states are characterized by these Gramians. This paper studies the controllability and observability of a class of linear piecewise constant impulsive systems. Necessary and sufficient criteria for reachability and controllability are established, respectively. It is proved that the reachability is equivalent to the controllability under some mild conditions. Then, necessary and sufficient criteria for observability and determinability of such systems are established, respectively. It is also proved that the observability is equivalent to the determinability under some mild conditions. Our criteria are of geometric type, they can be transformed into algebraic type conveniently. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the utility of our criteria.  相似文献

This paper addresses the investigation of the reachability, observability and stabilizability properties of hybrid linear systems under multirate sampling. Technical results guaranteeing such properties at sampling instants and in between samples are formulated and proved. It is shown that the above properties can be investigated in terms of ranks of real or complex matrices if the system parameters are periodic or constant. The freedom in the choice of the sampling rates is finally used, under observability and exponential stability conditions, in the context of a optimal worst-case design. Two numerical examples are given. The first one is related to the design of such sampling rates for all possible choices of the inputs in a worst-case design context by using loss functions involving linear combinations of the L 2 and induced l 2 norms. The second one considers the choice of the sampling rates for an optimal transmission of possible rounding or measurement errors in the reachability problem.  相似文献
