Abstract

We show that every map in the group G of self-homeomorphisms of the bisequence space can be approximated by homeomorphisms which “look like” the shift map and are expansive. By removing a certain open set of maps from G, we obtain a closed subspace M which contains all mixing maps. If φ · M then any shiftlike approximation to φ is topologically strong mixing. Thus the strong mixing expansive maps are dense in M. Further the weak mixing maps form a dense Gδ sets in M.  相似文献

In this paper, consistent algebraic L-domains are considered. One algebraic and two topological characterization theorems for their directed completions are given. It is proved that eliminating a set of maximal elements with empty interior from an algebraic L-domain results a consistent algebraic L-domain whose directed completion is just the given algebraic L-domain up to isomorphism. It is also proved that the category CALDOM of consistent algebraic L-domains and Scott continuous maps is Cartesian closed and has the category ALDOM of algebraic L-domains and Scott continuous maps as a full reflective subcategory. There is an invariant measure μ, which is the pluri-complex version of the harmonic measure of the Julia set for polynomial maps of C.In this paper we give an integral formula for the Lyapunov exponents of a polynomial automorphism with respect to μ, analogous to the Brolin-Manning formula polynomial maps of C.Our formula relates the Lyapunov exponents to the value of a Green function at a type of critical point which we define in this paper. We show that these the critical points have a natural dynamical interpretation.  相似文献

A new definition of a spectrum for nonlinear operators is suggested, which is called phantom. The phantom naturally divides into two subsets which in the linear case correspond to the point spectrum, and to the union of the continuous and residual spectrum. There is also a natural nonlinear analogue to the approximate point spectrum. The phantom may be considered as a variant of the spectrum of M. Furi, M. Martelli, and A. Vignoli (Ann. Mat. Pura Appl. 118 (1978), 229–294), which reflects the behavior of the operator on bounded sets and which is based on a new definition of an eigenvalue that was suggested earlier by the authors (Nonlinear Anal. 40 (2000), 565–576).?To define the phantom, the class of stably 0-epi maps is introduced and studied. We construct natural maps (the Klein and Wirtinger maps) from moduli spaces of semistable vector bundles over an algebraic curve X to affine spaces, as quotients of the nonabelian theta linear series. We prove a finiteness result for these maps over generalized Kummer varieties (moduli space of torus bundles), leading us to conjecture that the maps are finite in general. The conjecture provides canonical explicit coordinates on the moduli space. The finiteness results give low-dimensional parametrizations of Jacobians (in for generic curves), described by 2Θ functions or second logarithmic derivatives of theta.We interpret the Klein and Wirtinger maps in terms of opers on X. Opers are generalizations of projective structures, and can be considered as differential operators, kernel functions or special bundles with connection. The matrix opers (analogues of opers for matrix differential operators) combine the structures of flat vector bundle and projective connection, and map to opers via generalized Hitchin maps. For vector bundles off the theta divisor, the Szegö kernel gives a natural construction of matrix oper. The Wirtinger map from bundles off the theta divisor to the affine space of opers is then defined as the determinant of the Szegö kernel. This generalizes the Wirtinger projective connections associated to theta characteristics, and the associated Klein bidifferentials.  相似文献

A multidimensional version of the Li–Yorke cycle coexisting theorem [Li, T.-Y. and Yorke, J.A. “Period three implies chaos”, Am. Math. A variational inequality index for γ-condensing maps is established in Hilbert spaces. New results on existence of nonzero positive solutions of variational inequalities for such maps are proved by using the theory of variational inequality index. Applications of such a theory are given to existence of nonzero positive weak solutions for semilinear second order elliptic inequalities, where previous results of variational inequalities for S-contractive maps cannot be applied.  相似文献

We sharpen the two main tools used to treat the compactified Jacobian of a singular curve: Abel maps and presentation schemes. First we prove a smoothness theorem for bigraded Abel maps. Second we study the two complementary filtrations provided by the images of certain Abel maps and certain presentation schemes. Third we study a lifting of the Abel map of bidegree (m, 1) to the corresponding presentation scheme. Fourth we prove that, if a curve is blown up at a double point, then the corresponding presentation scheme is a 1-bundle. Finally, using Abel maps of bidegree (m, 1), we characterize the curves having double points at worst.  相似文献

We extend the Nielsen theory of coincidence sets to equalizer sets, the points where a given set of (more than 2) mappings agree. On manifolds, this theory is interesting only for maps between spaces of different dimension, and our results hold for sets of k maps on compact manifolds from dimension (k−1)n to dimension n. We define the Nielsen equalizer number, which is a lower bound for the minimal number of equalizer points when the maps are changed by homotopies, and is in fact equal to this minimal number when the domain manifold is not a surface.As an application we give some results in Nielsen coincidence theory with positive codimension. This includes a complete computation of the geometric Nielsen number for maps between tori.  相似文献

In a recent paper in this journal, J. Soto-Andrade and F. J. Varela draw attention to the fact that ifR is a retract of a reflexive domain in a suitable category thenR has the fixed point property. They suggest [1], pp. 1 and 18, that conversely every structure with the fixed point property is a retract of a reflexive domain. In this note it is shown that ifR is a retract of a reflexive domain thenR R has the fixed point property. This leads to counterexamples to the suggestion of Soto-Andrade and Varela in the categoryPo of partially ordered sets and monotone maps.  相似文献

Summary The joint density function of the latent roots ofS 1 S 2 −1 under violations is obtained whereS 1 has a complex non-central Wishart distributionW c (p,n 1,Σ 1,Ω) andS 2, an independent complex central Wishart,W c (p,n 2,Σ 2, 0). The density and moments of Hotelling's trace are also derived under violations. Further, the non-null distributions of the following four criteria in the two-roots case are studied for tests of three hypotheses: Hotelling's trace, Pillai's trace, Wilks' criterion and Roy's largest root. In addition, tabulations of powers are carried out and power comparisons for tests of each of three hypotheses based on the four criteria are made in the complex case extending such work of Pillai and Jayachandran in the classical Gaussian case. The findings in the complex Gaussian are generally similar to those in the classical.  相似文献

Common fixed-point results are proved for II-nonexpansive maps, Ciric type maps, and ∗-nonexpansive multimaps. Invariant approximation results are obtained for these types of maps as applications. Our results extend or generalize several known results including the recent results of Chen and Li [J. Chen, Z. Li, Common fixed-points for Banach operators pairs in best approximation, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 336 (2007) 1466–1475]. In particular, we show that the results of Chen and Li on Banach operator pairs are particular cases of the results of Al-Thagafi and Shahzad [M.A. Al-Thagafi, N. Shahzad, Noncommuting selfmaps and invariant approximations, Nonlinear Anal. 64 (2006) 2778–2786].  相似文献

A new generalized set-valued contraction on topological spaces with respect to a measure of noncompactness is introduced. Two fixed point theorems for the KKM type maps which are either generalized set-contraction or condensing ones are given. Suppose F is a field of characteristic not 2. Let Mn F and Sn F be the n × n full matrix space and symmetric matrix space over F, respectively. All additive maps from Sn F to Sn F (respectively, Mn F) preserving Moore–Penrose inverses of matrices are characterized. We first characterize all additive Moore–Penrose inverse preserving maps from Sn F to Mn F, and thereby, all additive Moore–Penrose inverse preserving maps from Sn F to itself are characterized by restricting the range of these additive maps into the symmetric matrix space.  相似文献

We give a Pontryagin-Thom type construction for Stein factorizations of fold maps of 3-manifolds into the plane. As an application, we compute the cobordism group of Stein factorizations of fold maps of oriented 3-manifolds into the plane and the oriented cobordism group of fold maps of 3-manifolds into the plane. It turns out that these two groups are isomorphic to Z 2Z 2. We have the analogous results about bordism groups as well.   相似文献

We provide a positive answer to a question raised by Eldred and Veeramani [A.A. Eldred, P. Veeramani, Existence and convergence of best proximity points, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 323 (2006) 1001–1006] about the existence of a best proximity point for a cyclic contraction map in a reflexive Banach space. Moreover, we introduce a new class of maps, called cyclic φφ-contractions, which contains the cyclic contraction maps as a subclass. Convergence and existence results of best proximity points for cyclic φφ-contraction maps are also obtained.  相似文献

Originally, exponentiable maps in the category Top of topological spaces were described by Niefield in terms of certain fibrewise Scott-open sets. This generalizes the first characterization of exponentiable spaces by Day and Kelly, which was improved thereafter by Hofmann and Lawson who described them as core-compact spaces.Besides various categorical methods, the Sierpinski-space is an essential tool in Niefield's original proof. Therefore, this approach fails to apply to quotient reflective subcategories of Top like Haus, the category of Hausdorff spaces. A recent generalization of the Hofmann–Lawson improvement to exponentiable maps enables now to reprove the characterization in a completely different and very elementary way. This approach works for any nontrivial quotient reflective subcategory of Top or Top/ T , the category of all spaces over a fixed base space T, as well as for exponentiable monomorphisms with respect to epi-reflective subcategories.An important special case is the category Sep_Top/ T of separated maps, i.e. distinct points in the same fibre can be separated in the total space by disjoint open neighbourhoods. The exponentiable objects in Sep turn out to be the open and fibrewise locally compact maps. The same holds for Haus/ T , T a Hausdorff space. In this case, a similar characterization was obtained by Cagliari and Mantovani.  相似文献
