A study of muonic238U has been performed in a combined (μ ?,γ f) and (μ ?,γγ) coincidence experiment to investigate the role of non-radiative transitions and their fission probabilities. An augmentation of the outer fission barrier ofΔE b =(0.6±0.1) MeV due to the presence of the muon is deduced. A significant contribution to the prompt fission yield not only results from the (2p→1s) and (3d→1s) non-radiative transitions, but also from other radiationless transitions. Specifically, the measured fission probabilities of the transitions (2p→1s), (3d→1s), and (3p→1s) are (1.5±0.4)%, (5.7±1.7)%, and (5.3±1.9)%, respectively.  相似文献

The magnetic hyperfine interaction in several muonic atoms has been measured. The magnetic splittings of the 1s 1/2, 2s 1/2 and 2p 1/2 muon states in the 9/2+ ground state of115In, determined by measuring muonic X rays areΔE mag(1s 1/2,115In 9/2+)=3580±70 eVΔE mag(2s 1/2,115In 9/2+)=525±120 eVΔE mag(2p 1/2,115In 9/2+)=850±180 eV. The magnetic splitting of nuclearγ rays in the presence of a muon in the 1s 1/2 state yields for the 1/2? ground state in199HgΔE mag(1s 1/2,199Hg 1/2?)=468±115 eV and the following values for the first excited 2+ states in the nuclei190,192Os and200Hg:ΔE mag(1s 1/2,190Os 2+)=665± 40 80 eVΔE mag(1s 1/2,192Os 2+)=800±80 eVΔE mag(1s 1/2,200Hg 2+)=655± 75 105 eV. These data are compared with calculations using different nuclear models.  相似文献

The ground state radiative widths of the 1.56 MeV (3/2+) and the 1.35 MeV (5/2?) levels in19F were determined by inelastic electron scattering. The measured cross sections have been analysed using DWBA calculations. The resultsΓ y 0 (5/2?→1/2?,E3)=(8.1±1.7)·10?10eV andΓ y 0 (3/2+→1/2+,E2=(1.76±0.15)·10?4eV are in agreement with, but more accurate than, former measurements.  相似文献

The level scheme of102Rh has been investigated by the102Ru(p, nγ) reaction in the proton energy range 3.1 MeV≦E p≦6 MeV. Excitation functions,γ-γ coincidences and pulsed beam measurements have been performed and a level scheme including 33 excited states up toE x≈650 keV has been constructed. Theγ-branchings of several levels have also been measured. The lifetimes of 5 excited states have been determined with the centroid-shift method:τ m(105.2 keV)=(1.3±0.3) ns,τ m(123.7 keV)=(0.6±0.3) ns,τ m(178.6 keV)=(1.5±0.3) ns,τ m(208.7 keV)=(0.5±0.3) ns,τ m(359.6 keV)=(0.8±0.4) ns. Upper limits have been placed for the lifetimes of 20 other levels.  相似文献

The e + e ?→ηγ→7γ process was studied in the energy range 2E=600–1060 MeV with an SND detector on a VEPP-2M e + e ? collider. The decay branching ratios B(φ→ηγ)=(1.353±0.011±0.052)×10?2, B(ω→ηγ)=(4.62±0.71±0.18)×10?4, and B(ρ→ηγ)=(2.73±0.31±0.15)×10?4 were measured.  相似文献

The excitation function of the fission probability P E E x) for238U has been measured in the reaction238U(α, α′ f) at 480 MeV bombarding energy. The reaction mechanism of this reaction is discussed for excitation energies belowB nf , the threshold for second chance fission, and aboveB nf up toE x =37 MeV. In comparing with results from fission induced by photons and by particle transfer reactions the (α, α′f) reaction gives too low values for the fission probabilityP f at excitation energies well aboveB nE . The role of the quasi-elastic knock-out process in this reaction is discussed.  相似文献

A new series of precision measurements of the muon momentum pμ+ in the decay πμ+vμ at rest have been made using a magnetic spectrometer. The result is pμ+=(29.79139 ± 0.00083) MeV/c. The consequences of this value for the rest masses of the muon neutrino and of the charged pion are discussed.  相似文献

In the48Ti(p, γ)49V reaction gamma decays of thirteen resonances betweenE p =960 and 1570 keV are investigated. Level energies within ±0.5–±2.0 keV andQ-value 6756.8±1.5 keV are obtained. Branching ratios for the resonance states and strongly populated bound states are given. Gamma-ray angular distribution measurements yield the followingJ(keV) assignments of49V bound and resonance states:J(1140)=5/2,J π(2235)=5/2(?),J(2264)=(3/2),J(2308)=3/2,J(3912)=3/2,J(8105,Ep=1374keV)=(1/2) andJ π(8289,E p =1564keV)=3/2(?). Multipolarity mixing ratios for all measured primary and secondary gamma rays are tabulated. Dopplershift attenuation measurements yield the mean lifetimes τ m (keV) of the following bound states in49V:τ m (748)=(200± 100 400 )fs, τ m (1140)=(250± 100 500 )fs, τ m (1155)>400 fs, τ m (1515)=(45± 20 30 )fs, τ m (1644)=(55± 20 30 )fs, τ m (1661)=(25±5)fs, τ m (1994)>400 fs, τ m (2235)=(30± 15 30 )fs, τ m (2264)=(45± 15 30 )fs and τ m (2308)=(20±10)fs.  相似文献

Ti and Cr ions at specific energies of 3.6 MeV/N and 5.0 MeV/N have been excited by passing them through thinC foils. The emission ofK-x rays andK-Auger electrons have been investigated using a flat crystal spectrometer and an electrostatic cyclindrical mirror analyzer. The lifetimes of the (1s2p)3 P 2 and (1s2s2p)4 P 5/2 states have been determined by applying the time-of-flight technique. The experimental resultsτ(Ti20+,3 P 2)=(404±40)ps,τ(Cr22+,3 P 2)=(215±35)ps,τ(Ti19+,4 P 5/2)=(236±12)ps, andτ(Cr21+,4 P 5/2)=(140±8)ps are compared with calculated lifetimes.  相似文献

From about 6×106 stoppingK ?-meson reactions in the Saclay 80 cm hydrogen bubble chamber 70Σ ?→Λe?¯ν and 11Σ+→Λe+ν decays have been identified. The ratio of the vector to axial vector coupling constant has been determined,f 1/g 1=?0.22±0.28, consistent with the predictionf 1=0 of the CVC-theory. The branching ratios for the two decay modes are,Γ(Σ ?→Λe?ν)/Γ(Σ?→ all modes)=(0.69±0.12). 10?4,Γ+→Λe+ν)/Γ(Σ+→ all modes)=(0.29±0.10). 10?4. The ratio, Γ(Σ+→Λe+)/Γ(Σ?→Λe?v)=0.69±0.18, agrees with the phase space ratio, 0.61, therefore a theory that includes no second class currents is consistent with the data.  相似文献

The M1 and M2 transition strength distribution for 16O in the excitation energy range from 16 to 20 MeV has been measured in a high-resolution electron scattering experiment. The M1 strength is concentrated in three sharp states at Ex = 16.22, 17.14 and 18.79 MeV (± 0.01 MeV) with B(M1, k)↑ = 0.20 ± 0.02, 0.32 ± 0.03 and 0.13 ± 0.03 μN2, respectively. An additional strength of 0.35 ± 0.09 μN2, distributed over eight weakly excited states with excitation energies Ex = 17.4 to 18.0 MeV, brings the total measured M1 strength to B(M1, k)↑ = 1.0 ± 0.1 μN2. The experimental M2 strength is distributed over states at Ex = 16.82, 17.78, 18.50 and 19.0 MeV (± 0.01 MeV) with B(M2, k)↑ = 19 ± 2, 13 ± 2, 59 ± 7 and 341 ± 51 μN2 · fm2, respectively. Electric transitions were also measured to states at Ex = 16.45 MeV (2+, E2), 17.30 MeV (1+, E1) and 18.20 MeV (2+, E2). Calculations were performed using the modified surface delta interaction in a 2p-2h shell model for the M1 transitions and the random phase approximation for the M2 transitions. The results show the sensitivity of the M1 strength as a measure of ground-state correlations and compare well with results from the 15N(p, γ) reaction.  相似文献

The reactionppp f (ηπ+π?)p s where the ηπ+π? system is centrally produced has been studied at 300 GeV/c incident momentum at the CERN Ω spectrometer. The ηπ± mass spectrum shows a strong δ/a 0(980) signal having a mass of 984±4 and Γ=95±14 MeV. The ηπ+π? mass spectrum shows η′ andf 1(1285) signals over little background. A spin-parity analysis of the ηπ+π? system shows evidence for aJ PC =1++ peak at thef 1(1285) mass but no evidence for the pseudoscalar states η(1270) andl/η(1440). No evidence is found for the ηππ decay of theE/f 1(1420) meson for which we set an upper limit BR(E/f 1(1420)→ηππ)<0.1 at 95% cl.  相似文献

The capture of a muon by protons at different hydrogen densities is considered. More precise values of γ-factors for ortho- and para-states of the muonic molecule ppμ are obtained: 2γo = 1.009±0.001 and 2γp = 1.143±0.001. Relativistic effects are taken into account in the muonic molecule, and the rate of ortho-para transitions λop = (7.1±1.2) × 104s?1, caused by these effects, is calculated. With this value of λop the μ-capture rate in liquid hydrogen is found to be Λc = (490±10)s?1 that is in agreement with the value Λc = 460±20 s? recently measured by the Saclay-CERN-Bologna collaboration.  相似文献

The neutron emission is studied following the formation of muonic atoms of 232Th and 239Pu. Energy and time distributions are measured. Various processes which contribute to the measured spectra are considered. A collective resonance model of the muon capture is used to calculate the nuclear excitation function. The probability of the radiationless nuclear excitations and the influence of the presence of the bound atomic muon on the fission barrier are discussed. The existing data for the ΓnΓf, are analysed. As a result of the analysis the rates of the prompt and delayed fission events (due to the radiationless mu-atomic transitions and the nuclear muon capture, respectively) are deduced from the experimental data to be 0.006/muon and 0.045/muon for 232Th and 0.10/muon and 0.49/muon for 239Pu, respectively. The increase of the fission barrier for muonic atoms is confirmed. The experimental neutron rates can be consistently explained only if it is assumed that in both nucleides the Kα radiationless transitions do not induce fission. The increase of the fission barrier for 239Pu is hence deduced to be not less than 1.2 MeV. The fate of the atomic muon after the nuclear fission is briefly discussed. Its influence on the interpretation of the present results is found to be small.  相似文献

Inelastic electron scattering cross sections were measured for energies below 60 MeV and momentum transfersq between 0.2 and 0.6 fm?1. Ground state radiative widths Γ γ 0 and transition radiiR tr were deduced. 2.18 MeV: Γ γ 0 (E2)=(4.40±0.34) · 10?4 eV,R tr=(4.28±0.39)fm; 3.56MeV: Γ γ 0 (M1)=(8.31±0.36)eV,R tr=(2.90±0.10)fm; 4.27 MeV: Γ γ 0 (E2)=(5.4±2.8) · 10?3 eV,R tr=(3.4±1.2) fm. We have performed a search for vector-vector final states centrally produced in proton proton interactions at 300 GeV/c using the CERN Ω spectrometer. Evidence is found for ωρ0 production in the reactionppp f (2π+?0)p s and for ωω production in the reactionppp f (2π+?0)p s . The vast majority of muon catalyzed fusion research has been concerned with muonic molecules of hydrogen isotopes only, since the dynamics of higher-Z muonic atoms in general preclude the formation of molecular systems. In the specific case of hydrogen–helium mixtures, bound muonic molecular states can exist, and thus it is possible to search for the reaction μd 3He $$\xrightarrow{{\tilde \lambda f}}$$ μ+α(3.66 MeV)+p(14.64 MeV). Until recently, the theoretical predictions for the nuclear fusion rate in the μd 3He molecule, ${\tilde \lambda }$ f , ranged over one order of magnitude, from 105 to 106 per second. An experimental upper limit has been measured for ${\tilde \lambda }$ f in HD + 3He giving a value (<6×104 s?1 [1]). We report on the analysis of an experiment in D2 + 3He which has shown a signal coming either from the muon catalyzed reaction, or from the fusion in flight of 3He's formed from dμd fusion.  相似文献

About 100 000 K+-decays were observed in a magnetic spectrometer with streamer chambers. The estimation for the radiative decay K+→μ+νμγ, Rexp = [W(K+μ+νμγ)]/[W(K+all)]=(5.8±3.5) x 10?3, at Eγ ? 9 MeV was obtained and the ratio R = [W(K+π+π°)]/[W(K+μ+νμ)] = 0.328 ± 0.005 was measured.  相似文献

The reactionppp f +π?π0)p s , where the π+π?π0 system is centrally produced, has been studied at 300 GeV/c. The π+π?π0 mass spectrum shows evidence for the η, ω anda 2 (1320) as well as an enhancement in thea 1 (1260) region. A Dalitz plot analysis of the π+π?π0 system has been performed. Thea 1 (1260) parameters coming from the fit of the 1+ S wave arem=1208±15 MeV and Γ=430±50 MeV. No evidence is found for theh 1(1170) orh 1(1380).  相似文献
