An elastic Ising model for a one-dimensional diatomic spin chain is proposed to explain the ferroelectricity induced by the collinear magnetic order with a low-excited energy state. A statistical theory based on this model is developed to calculate the electrical and magnetic properties of Ca3CoMnO6, a typical quasi-one-dimensional diatomic spin chain system. The calculated ferroelectric polarization and dielectric susceptibility show a good agreement with recently reported data on Ca3Co2-xMnxO6 (x ≈0.96) (Phys. Rev. Lett. 100 047601 (2008)), although the predicted magnetic susceptibility does not coincide well with experiment. We also address the rationality and deficiency of this model by including a first-order correction which improves the consistency between the model and experiment.  相似文献

In this paper, we explore the magnetoelectric coupling in Ca3CoMnO6-type compound with the consideration of interaction between spins. Under the linear approximation of nearest-neighbor spin interaction with respect to the ion displacement, both the Hamiltonian and the partition function of the system can be simplified as the summation of two independent items, one is linear harmonic oscillator relevant to the lattice vibration, and the other is only relevant to the spin. We obtain the magnetic and ferroelectric quantities of Ca3CoMnO6-type rigorously on the basis of the transfer-matrix method, qualitatively exhibiting the corresponding curves taken in the presence of temperature for zero magnetic field and various magnetic fields, respectively, and our calculation results are basically consistent with the behaviors in the experiment. We find that the magnetic susceptibility in the absence of magnetic field takes on the features of ferromagnetic Ising-like behavior. Moreover, the influence of different next-nearest-neighbor exchange interaction on the magnetic susceptibility and relative dielectric constant is given as well, exhibiting the corresponding complex response of the magnetic susceptibility based on the up-up-down-down spin structure.  相似文献

Using the method of the Jordan--Wigner transformation for solving different spin--spin correlation functions, we have investigated the generation of next-nearest-neighbouring entanglement in a one-dimensional quantum Ising spin chain with the Gaussian distribution impurities of exchange couplings and external magnetic fields taken into account. The maximal value of entanglement between the next-nearest-neighbouring qubits in the transverse Ising model was analysed in detail by varying the effectively controlled parameters such as interchange coupling, magnetic field and the system impurity. For such systems, where both exchange couplings and external magnetic field disorder appear, we show that it is possible to achieve next-nearest-neighbouring entanglement better than the previously discussed pure Ising spin chain case. We also show that the Gaussian distribution impurity can induce next-nearest-neighbouring entanglement, which can be used as a means to characterize quantum phase transition.  相似文献

An Ising spin effective field theory (EFT) is developed as a framework for a detailed analysis of the magnetic properties of two-dimensional (2D) nano-islands on a nonmagnetic substrate with an out of plane magnetization. The Hamiltonian with nearest neighbor exchange interactions and single-atom magnetic anisotropy defines the ground state. The calculation yields the single site spin correlations, the magnetizations, and the isothermal susceptibilities for the core and periphery domains, and the island core phase diagrams. The choice of a spin S=1 for the atoms permits the analysis of the effects of spin fluctuations via the single site spin correlations. In particular we investigate the effects due to the different anisotropies and reduced dimensionalities for the core and periphery domains. The present model calculations are developed for different 2D nano-islands lattices. Detailed theoretical results are presented for the square and hexagonal lattices, with numerical applications for the 2D Co nano-islands on Pt. The derived transition temperature for the hexagonal lattice nano-islands is in good agreement with the experimental data for Co nano-islands on Pt. Though both the core and the periphery domains have the same order-disorder transition temperature, the magnetization of each domain attains this transition differently. The temperature behavior of the spin correlations is also fundamentally different for the periphery and core sites, which entails distinctly different isothermal susceptibilities, and yields statistically averaged nano-islands susceptibilities that do not correspond to a second order phase transition. The experimental susceptibility results for 2D Co nano-islands on Pt can be interpreted within our EFT Ising model without reference to a transition from a blocking state of the particle to a superparamagnetic behavior. The results for the different lattices are formally comparable, and demonstrate the robustness and general character of the model.  相似文献

本文系统地研究了有限尺寸下非束缚类准周期量子伊辛链在横场中的赝临界点的行为. 首先, 通过计算平均磁矩和协作参量, 发现这两个量的导数随着横场的变化都会出现两个清晰的峰. 这与束缚类伊辛链和无序伊辛链的结果明显不同. 其次, 研究了横场中赝临界点的概率分布情况, 发现概率分布并不是高斯型的. 这也与无序的结果不同. 最后, 分析了赝临界点产生的原因, 发现赝临界点是由非束缚类准周期伊辛链中的集团结构造成的.  相似文献

The ground‐state magnetic phase transitions in a classical spin chain with long‐range interactions in a system of trapped ions are investigated. The tunable competing interactions, mediated by both longitudinal and transverse photon modes, lead to competition among different spins, due to which magnetic frustration occurs. Various ground‐state spin configurations are separated by multiple phase transitions when the strength and sign of these interactions are tuned continuously. The spin chains are highly degenerated because of the frustration, so there is some melting of several magnetic phases.  相似文献

The effects of second-neighbor spin coupling interactions and a magnetic field are investigated on the free energies of a finite-size 1-D Ising model. For both ferromagnetic of nearest neighbor (NN) and next-nearest neighbor (NNN) spin coupling interactions, the finite-size free energy first increases and then approaches a constant value for any size of the spin chain. In contrast, when NNN and NN spin coupling interactions are antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic, respectively, the finite-size free energy gradually decreases by increasing the competition factor and eventually vanishes for large values of it. When a magnetic field is applied, the finite-size free energy decreases with respect to the case of zero magnetic fields for both ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic spin coupling interactions. Deviation of free energy per size for finite-size systems relative to the infinite system increases when the spin coupling interactions as well as the f parameter (the ratio of the magnetic field to NN spin coupling interaction) increase.  相似文献

We explicitly calculate the zero-field magnetic susceptibility of the anisotropic Kagomé lattice Ising model on two different varieties of the parameter space. One of them is the limitH=0 of the solubility condition, obtained in a previous paper by Giacomini, for the model with magnetic field. The other one is the disorder variety of the model, for which a dimensional reduction occurs. These varieties do not contain any nontrivial critical behavior of the model. A functional relation is also established, which relates the zero-field susceptibility for ferromagnetic and competing interactions.  相似文献

In this paper we show how an infinite system of coupled Toda-type nonlinear differential equations derived by one of us can be used efficiently to calculate the time-dependent pair-correlations in the Ising chain in a transverse field. The results are seen to match extremely well long large-time asymptotic expansions newly derived here. For our initial conditions we use new long asymptotic expansions for the equal-time pair correlation functions of the transverse Ising chain, extending an old result of T.T. Wu for the 2d Ising model. Using this one can also study the equal-time wavevector-dependent correlation function of the quantum chain, a.k.a. the q-dependent diagonal susceptibility in the 2d Ising model, in great detail with very little computational effort. It was first proposed that an extended chain Ising (ECI) model contains the Ising chain model, single spin double-well potentials and a pure phonon heat bath of a specific energy exchange with the spins. The extension method is easy to apply to high dimensional cases. Then the single spin-flip probability (rate) of the ECI model is deduced based on the Boltzmann principle and general statistical principles of independent events and the model is simplified to an extended chain Glauber-Ising (ECGI) model. Moreover, the relaxation dynamics of the ECGI model were simulated by the Monte Carlo method and a comparison with the predictions of the special chain Glauber-Ising (SCGI) model was presented. It was found that the results of the two models are consistent with each other when the Ising chain length is large enough and temperature is relative low, which is the most valuable case of the model applications. These show that the ECI model will provide a firm physical base for the widely used single spin-flip rate proposed by Glauber and a possible route to obtain the single spin-flip rate of other form and even the multi-spin-flip rate.  相似文献

We derive a new inequality for ferromagnetic Ising spin systems and then use it to obtain information about the number of phases which can coexist in such systems. We show in particular that for even interactions only two phases (up and down magnetization) can coexist below the critical temperature at zero magnetic field (h=0) whenever the energy is a continuous function of the temperature. We also prove that the derivatives with respect toh ath=0 of the odd correlation functions (triplet,...) diverge like the susceptibility in the vicinity of the critical temperature (at least for pair interactions). 采用蒙特卡罗(Monte Carlo)重点抽样法对三维Ising模型进行计算机模拟,测量无外磁场时三维Ising模型中自旋键链的能量、磁化强度、比热及磁化率的统计平均值与标准误差(不确定度).结果表明,三维Ising模型在无外磁场时存在自发磁化现象,铁磁→非铁磁相变临界点在J/(kBTC)=0.222 0,或居里温度TC=4.500 0处.并研究存在外磁场时上述物理量随温度与外磁场的变化规律,给出物理解释.  相似文献

We obtain exact expressions for the free energy and the magnetic susceptibility in zero field of a compressible double Ising chain with first and second neighbour interactions. The chain is supposed to be made of rigid rods which move like dumbbells in an elastic harmonic potential. The exchange interactions along the direction of the chain are linear functions of the spacing between rods. The effective spin hamiltonian of the double chain involves short-range two and four-spin interactions. Due to the existence of compensation points, we obtain regions of peculiar thermodynamic properties in the pressure-temperature phase diagram.  相似文献

The mixed spin-(1/2, 3/2) Ising model on a decorated square lattice, which takes into account lattice vibrations of the spin-3/2 decorating magnetic ions at a quantum-mechanical level under the assumption of a perfect lattice rigidity of the spin-1/2 nodal magnetic ions, is examined via an exact mapping correspondence with the effective spin-1/2 Ising model on a square lattice. Although the considered magnetic structure is in principle unfrustrated due to bipartite nature of a decorated square lattice, the model under investigation may display anomalous spin frustration driven by a magnetoelastic coupling. It turns out that the magnetoelastic coupling is a primary cause for existence of the frustrated antiferromagnetic phases, which exhibit a peculiar coexistence of antiferromagnetic long-range order of the nodal spins with a partial disorder of the decorating spins with possible reentrant critical behavior. Under certain conditions, the anomalous spin frustration caused by the magnetoelastic coupling is responsible for unprecedented absence of spontaneous long-range order in the mixed-spin Ising model composed from half-odd-integer spins only.  相似文献

An Ising effective field theory model is presented to calculate the magnetic properties of 2D nano-islands on a nonmagnetic substrate, subject to an externally out-of-plane applied magnetic field. The system Hamiltonian contains nearest neighbor exchange interactions, single-atom magnetic anisotropies, and the Zeeman term. The calculations yield, in particular, the single site spin correlations, the magnetizations, and the isothermal susceptibilities, for the core and periphery domains of the nano-island. The choice of a spin S=1 for the atoms of the system permits the analysis of local spin fluctuations via the single site spin correlations. We investigate in this respect the effects due to the different magnetocrystalline anisotropies and reduced dimensionalities, for the core and periphery domains, and in particular the critical influence of the applied magnetic field. Detailed theoretical results are presented for the square and hexagonal lattice symmetries, with numerical applications for the 2D monolayer Co nano-islands on a Pt substrate. It is shown that the remarkable differences between the magnetic properties of the core and periphery domains in zero field are washed out when an out-of-plane field is applied. The applied field also provokes critical discontinuities for the spin correlations and magnetization reversals, for the core and periphery domains, which are especially evident for the hexagonal lattice nano-island in the range of fields of interest. The discontinuities and magnetization reversals occur over elementary temperature widths, and shift to lower temperatures with increasing field. The field-dependant isothermal susceptibilities show new features very different from those for the susceptibilities in zero field. The present Ising model does not show any blocking temperature transition to superparamagnetism.  相似文献

We consider a three-dimensional Ising model in a transverse magnetic fieldh and a bulk fieldH. An interface is introduced by an appropriate choice of boundary conditions. At the point (H=0,h=0) spin configurations corresponding to different positions of the interface are degenerate. By studying the phase diagram near this multiphase point using quantum mechanical perturbation theory, we show that the quantum fluctuations, controlled byh, split the multiphase degeneracy giving rise to an infinite sequence of layering transitions.  相似文献

We study the role of Franck-Condon (F-C) principle in the dynamics of a central spin system, which is coupled to an Ising chain in transverse field. The transition process of energy levels caused by the excited central spin is studied to manifest the quantum critical effect through the Franck-Condon principle. The super-sensitivity of this quantum critical system is demonstrated clearly from the properties of Franck-Condon factors. We analytically show how spin numbers, coupling strength and order parameter of the Ising chain sensitively effect on the energy level populations in dynamical evolution near the critical point. This super-sensitivity and criticality are explicitly displayed in absorption spectrum.  相似文献

The Ising spin glass model on Bethe-like lattices (cactus lattices) is studied using replicas in the presence of a magnetic field. Parisi's order parameter function and the de Almeida–Thouless (AT) line are obtained close to the spin glass transition temperature. The results are compared with those for the Bethe lattice to see the effects of loops. The slope of the order parameter function diminishes considerably for both lattices compared with that for the Sherrington–Kirkpatrick (SK) model. The loci of the AT line for the cactus lattices and the Bethe lattice are above and below that for the SK model, respectively.  相似文献
