In this paper,we study two-dimensional Riemann boundary value problems of Euler system for the isentropic and irrotational Chaplygin gas with initial data being two constant states given in two sectors respectively, where one sector is a quadrant and the other one has an acute vertex angle. We prove that the Riemann boundary value problem admits a global self-similar solution,if either the initial states are close,or the smaller sector is also near a quadrant. Our result can be applied to solving the problem of shock reflection by a ramp. 相似文献

In this paper, the existence and uniqueness of the local generalized solution and the local classical solution for the initial boundary value problem of the quasi-linear wave equation with viscous damping are proved. The nonexistence of the global solution for this problem is discussed by an ordinary differential inequality. Finally, an example is given. 相似文献

Abstract In this paper we consider the large time behavior of solutions to an n-dimensional transmission problem for two Kirchhoff type viscoelastic wave equations, that is, the wave propagation over bodies consisting of two physically different types of materials. One component is a simple elastic part while the other is a viscoelastic component endowed with a long range memory. We show that the dissipation produced by the viscoelastic part is strong enough to produce exponential or polynomial decay of the solution 相似文献

We seek to optimally control a reflection boundary coefficient for an acoustic wave equation. The goal-quantified by an objective functional- is to drive the solution close to a target by adjusting this coefficient, which acts as a control. The problem is solved by finding the optimal control, which minimizes the objective functional. Then the optimal control is used as a an approximation for an inverse “ identification” problem. 相似文献

In this paper the boundary integral expression for a one-dimensional wave equation with homogeneous boundary conditions is developed. This is done using the time dependent fundamental solution of the corresponding hyperbolic partial differential equation. The integral expression developed is a generalized function with the same form as the well-known D'Alembert formula. The derivatives of the solution and some useful invariants on the characteristics of the partial differential equation are also calculated. The boundary element method is applied to find the numerical solution. The results show excellent agreement with analytical solutions.A multi-step procedure for large time steps which can be used in the boundary element method is also described. In addition, the way in which boundary conditions are introduced during the time dependent process is explained in detail. In the Appendix the main properties of Dirac's delta function and the Heaviside unit step function are described. 相似文献

The order of convergence for the low frequency asymptotics of the exterior Dirichlet problem for the Helmholtz equation with variable, possibly non-smooth coefficients is shown to be Ω2, the square of the frequency, except of some singular cases. In these cases the asymptotics are characterized completely by some lower order terms in the spherical harmonics expansion of the solution to the static problem. 相似文献

In this paper we analyze self-similar solutions of the semilinear wave equation Φtt − ΔΦ − Φp = 0 for n > 3 space dimensions. We found several classes of analytic solutions labeled by a single parameter, the form of which differ in the vicinity of the light cone. We also propose suitable numerical methods to study them. 相似文献

We study certain boundary value problems for the one-dimensional wave equation posed in a time-dependent domain. The approach we propose is based on a general transform method for solving boundary value problems for integrable nonlinear PDE in two variables, that has been applied extensively to the study of linear parabolic and elliptic equations. Here we analyse the wave equation as a simple illustrative example to discuss the particular features of this method in the context of linear hyperbolic PDEs, which have not been studied before in this framework. 相似文献

Consider the Cauchy problem in odd dimensions for the dissipative wave equation: (□+∂t)u=0 in with (u,∂tu)|t=0=(u0,u1). Because the L2 estimates and the L∞ estimates of the solution u(t) are well known, in this paper we pay attention to the Lp estimates with 1p<2 (in particular, p=1) of the solution u(t) for t0. In order to derive Lp estimates we first give the representation formulas of the solution u(t)=∂tS(t)u0+S(t)(u0+u1) and then we directly estimate the exact solution S(t)g and its derivative ∂tS(t)g of the dissipative wave equation with the initial data (u0,u1)=(0,g). In particular, when p=1 and n1, we get the L1 estimate: u(t)L1Ce−t/4(u0Wn,1+u1Wn−1,1)+C(u0L1+u1L1) for t0. 相似文献

The paper is devoted to the study of the behavior of the following mixed problem for large values of time:
where Ω is an unbounded region of ℝ
n
with, generally speaking, noncompact boundary
; the surface Γ is star-shaped (relative to the origin), ν is the unit outer normal to ∂Ω; and the initial functionsf andg are assumed to be sufficiently smooth and finite. Under certain restrictions on the part of the boundary Γ2 constrained by the impedance condition, we establish that one can match the impedanceg≥0 (characterizing the absorption of energy by the surface Γ2) to the geometric properties of this surface so that the energy on an arbitrary compact set will decay at a rate characteristic
for the first mixed problem.

We discuss an initial boundary value problem for a one-dimensional stochastic wave equation with reflection. For stochastic parabolic equations with reflection, there are some well-known results. However, there seems to be no existence result for a stochastic wave equation with reflection. Even for a deterministic wave equation, the problem has not been completely resolved. Our goal is to establish the existence of a martingale solution for this problem. 相似文献

An analytic and numerical study of the behavior of the linear nonhomogeneous wave equation of the form ε2utt = Δu + tf with high wave speed (ε 1) is carried out. This study was initially motivated by meteorological observations which have indicated the presence of large spatial scale gravity waves in the neighborhood of a number of summer and winter storms, mainly from visible images of ripples in clouds in satellite photos. There is a question as to whether the presence of these waves is caused by the nearby storms. Since the linear wave equation is an approximation to the full system describing pressure waves in the atmosphere, yet is considerably more tractable, we have chosen to analyze the behavior of the linear nonhomogeneous wave equation with high wave speed. The analysis is shown to be valid in one, two, and three space dimensions. Partly because of the high wave speed, the solution is known to consist of behavior which changes on two different time scales, one rapid and one slow. Additionally, because of the presence of the nonhomogeneous forcing term tf, we show that there is a component of the solution which will vary only on a very large spatial scale. Since even the linearized wave equation can give rise to persistent large spatial scale waves under the right conditions, the implication is that certain storms could be responsible for the generation of large-scale waves. Numerical simulations in one and two dimensions confirm analytic results. 相似文献

We study radial solutions of the Cauchy problem for the wave equation in the multidimensional unit ball Bd, d≥1. In this case, the operator that appears is the Bessel Laplacian and the solution u(t,x) is given in terms of a Fourier–Bessel expansion. We prove that, for initial Lp data, the series converges in the L2 norm. The analysis of a particular operator, the adjoint of the Riesz transform for Fourier–Bessel series, is needed for our purposes, and may be of independent interest. As applications, certain Lp−L2 estimates for the solution of the heat equation and the extension problem for the fractional Bessel Laplacian are obtained. 相似文献
