ChemInform Abstract: A Structural Investigation of Hydrous and Anhydrous Rare‐Earth Phosphates.

Rhabdophane‐type LnPO₄·nH₂O (Ln: La, Nd, Sm, Gd, Dy) and xenotime‐type Ln′PO₄·nH₂O (Ln′: Y, Yb) are prepared by a precipitation‐based method and characterized by powder XRD and XANES.     

ChemInform Abstract: Pentacoordinate Phosphorus in a High-Pressure Polymorph of Phosphorus Nitride Imide P4N6(NH).

The title γ-P₄N₆(NH) polymorph is obtained by high-temperature high-pressure synthesis using P₃N₅ and NH₄Cl in the molar ratio of 4:1 (multianvil cell, 14 GPa, 1200 °C, 3 h).     

ChemInform Abstract: RE10TCd3 (RE: Y,Tb - Tm,Lu; T: Fe,Co, Ni,Ru, Rh,Pd) - Rare Earth-Rich Phases with Ordered anti-Co2Al5 Structure.

The title compounds are synthesized from the elements (flowing Ar, 1500 K for 2 min, 1300 K for 45 min, and 900 K for 2 h) and characterized by powder XRD.

ChemInform Abstract: Rational Syntheses and Structural Characterization of Sulfur‐Rich Phosphorus Polysulfides: α‐P2S7 and β‐P2S7.

The polysulfides α‐ and β‐P₂S₇ are synthesized by heating stoichiometric mixtures of P₄S₃ and sulfur in the presence of catalytic amounts of anhydrous FeCl₃ as mineralizer (evacuated silica tube, 250 °C, 10 d).

Single crystals of the title compounds are prepared by solid state reactions of M₂CO₃ (M: K, Rb, Cs), PbO, PbF₂, H₃BO₃, and (NH₄)H₂PO₄ in a molar ratio of 2:5:5:4:3 (Pt crucible, 700 °C, 10 h).
