We present the first observation of substantial persistent flow in superfluid 3He-A in thick simply connected slabs in a zero magnetic field, but only in l textures with domain walls. The flow is induced in a rotating cryostat using a torsional oscillator as a probe. The hysteretic dependences of the trapped vorticity on the maximal angular velocity of rotation are fairly universal for different densities of domain walls and slab thicknesses. A model of a critical state set by either the critical velocity for vortex nucleation or pinning strength explains all observations.  相似文献

We show in this paper that an Abelian Chern-Simons term is induced in (2 + 1)- and (3 + 1)-dimensional rotating superfluid 3He-A and that it plays an important role in its dynamics. Because U(1) symmetry is spontaneously broken in 3He-A, a Goldstone mode appears and contributes to the induced Chern-Simons term. We found that the coefficient of the Chern-Simons term, which is equivalent to Hall conductance, depends on an infra-red cut-off of the Goldstone mode, and that the orbital angular momentum of 3He-A in a cylinder geometry is derived from the Chern-Simons term.  相似文献

It is shown that in the presence of superflow, υs, parallel to a strong magnetic field H (|H| ? 20 Oe), the uniform texture becomes unstable againts the formation of a one dimensional soliton lattice forυs ? υc2 (≈1 mm/s). Anisotropic superfluid 3He-A in aerogel provides an interesting example of a system with continuous symmetry in the presence of random anisotropy disorder. Recent NMR experiments allow us to discuss two regimes of the orientational disorder that have different NMR properties. One of them, the (c) state, is identified as the pure Larkin-Imry-Ma state. The structure of another state, the (f) state, is not very clear: probably, it is the Larkin-Imry-Ma state contaminated by the network of the topological defects pinned by the aerogel. The attenuation of second sound (spin-entropy) wave in the superfluid A1 phase has been measured in magnetic fields up to 11 T and to sufficiently high frequency to observe the bulk attenuation proportional to the square of frequency. The measured attenuation coefficient is compared with the existing theories of hydrodynamics and dissipative coefficients. The resulting "excess" attenuation is discussed in terms of the temperature dependent spin diffusion coefficient in the superfluid.  相似文献

It is shown that the effective action in 3He-A contains the Wess-Zumino topological action, from which the orbital dynamics is naturally obtained. The obtained spontaneous orbital momentum of liquid coincides fully with the one predicted by phenomenology. The connection with the chiral anomaly in quantum electrodynamics is considered.  相似文献
