The Sz.-Nagy-FoiaŞ functional model for completely non-unitary contractions is extended to completely non-coisometric sequences of bounded operatorsT = (T1,...,T d) (d finite or infinite) on a Hilbert space, with bounded characteristic functions. For this class of sequences, it is shown that the characteristic function θT is a complete unitary invariant. We obtain, as the main result, necessary and sufficient conditions for a bounded multi-analytic operator on Fock spaces to coincide with the characteristic function associated with a completely non-coisometric sequence of bounded operators on a Hilbert space. In this note, we prove a harmonic-type maximal principle for the Schur parametrization of all contractive interpolants in the three chains completion problem (see [4]), which is analogous to the maximal principle proven in [2] in case of the Schur parametrization of all contractive intertwining liftings in the commutant lifting theorem.  相似文献

The family of all solutions of the three chains completion problem with a prescribed tolerance is described explicitly. It is shown that this family can be parameterized by a natural set of contractive upper triangular operators. As an application all solutions to a suboptimal nonstationary Nehari problem are described.  相似文献

We prove the existence of an integro-polynomial representation for a sequence of numbers such that there exists a difference operator mapping this sequence to a sequence that generates the solvable trigonometric moment problem. A similar result related to the power moment problem was given in [12].  相似文献

A time-variant version of the maximum principle for the central solution in the commutant lifting theorem is given. The main result is illustrated on the Parrott completion problem.  相似文献

In this paper a positive real tangential Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation problem with interpolation at operator points is solved. The Naimark dilation theorem together with the state space method from systems theory are used to obtain a parameterization for the set of all solutions. Explicit state space formulas are given for both the singular and non-ingular case. In the proofs the solution of an intermediate isometric extension problem plays an important role.  相似文献

Athavale introduced in [3] the notion of a completely hyperexpansive operator. In this paper some results concerning powers of completely (alternatingly) hyperexpansive operators (not necessarily bounded) are extended tok-hyperexpansive ones. A semispectral measure is associated with a subnormal contraction as well as with a completely hyperexpansive operator, and an operator version of the Levy-Khinchin representation is obtained. Passing to the Naimark dilation of the semispectral measure, such an operator is related to a positive contraction in a natural way. New characterizations of a completely hyperexpansive operator and a subnormal contraction are given. The power bounded completely hyperexpansive operators are characterized. All these are illustrated using weighted shifts.  相似文献

The classical Adamjan-Arov-Krein (A-A-K) theorem relating the singular numbers of Hankel operators to best approximations of their symbols by rational functions is given an abstract version. This provides results for Hankel operators acting in weightedH 2(T; ), as well as inH 2(T d ), and an A-A-K type extension of Sarason's interpolation theorem. In particular, it is shown that all compact Hankel operators inH 2(T d ) are zero.Author partially supported by NSF grant DMS89-11717.  相似文献

We study pure subnormal operators whose self-commutators have zero as an eigenvalue. We show that various questions in this are closely related to questions involving approximation by functions satisfying and to the study ofgeneralized quadrature domains.First some general results are given that apply to all subnormal operators within this class; then we consider characterizing the analytic Toeplitz operators, the Hardy operators and cyclic subnormal operators whose self-commutators have zero as an eigenvalue.  相似文献

Inspired by the problem of powers of hyponormal operators, this paper is to discuss the structure on powers of p-hyponormal and log-hyponormal operators. The structure on powers of operators consists of same-side structure and different-side structure. The same-side structure means relations between and , and the different-side structure means relations between where m, n are positive integers and T is a bounded linear operator on a Hilbert space. Thus, the original problem of powers of hyponormal operators belongs to different-side structure on powers of hyponormal operators. The structure on powers of p-hyponormal operators for p > 0 is emphasized. Also, some applications are obtained.   相似文献

Let B(H) denote the algebra of operators on a complex Hilbert space H, and let U denote the class of operators which satisfy the absolute value condition . It is proved that if is a contraction, then either A has a nontrivial invariant subspace or A is a proper contraction and the nonnegative operator is strongly stable. A Putnam-Fuglede type commutativity theorem is proved for contractions A in , and it is shown that if normal subspaces of . It is proved that if are reducing, then every compact operator in the intersection of the weak closure of the range of the derivation with the commutant of A* is quasinilpotent.  相似文献

Some recent results concerning theL-problem of moments in two variables are related via the Fourier-Laplace transform to an interpolation problem in the tube domain over a quadrant inR 2. The class of analytic functions for which the interpolation problem is posed is identified with the symbols of all bounded analytic Wiener-Hopf operators acting on theH 2-Hardy space of the tube domain. The extremal solutions of the corresponding truncated problem are computed and the related uniqueness phenomenon is also discussed.  相似文献

We construct the unique completion of a partial triangular matrix with compact operator entries that has the property that its sequence of singular values is minimal in lexicographical order among all completions. In addition some partial results regarding the singular values of this superoptimal completion are presented. The research was done while the author visited the Department of Mathematics at the George Washington University.Supported by the College of William and Mary  相似文献

Let T be an algebraically paranormal operator acting on Hilbert space. We prove : (i) Weyls theorem holds for f(T) for every f $\in$ H((T)); (ii) a-Browders theorem holds for f(S) for every S $\prec$ T and f $\in$ H((S)); (iii) the spectral mapping theorem holds for the Weyl spectrum of T and for the essential approximate point spectrum of T.  相似文献

We study the problem of determining which bounded linear operator on a Hilbert space can be dilated to a singular unitary operator. Some of the partial results we obtained are (1) every strict contraction has a diagonal unitary dilation, (2) everyC 0 contraction has a singular unitary dilation, and (3) a contraction with one of its defect indices finite has a singular unitary dilation if and only if it is the direct sum of a singular unitary operator and aC 0(N) contraction. Such results display a scenario which is in marked contrast to that of the classical case where we have the absolute continuity of the minimal unitary power dilation of any completely nonunitary contraction.  相似文献

The notion of a quasi-free Hilbert module over a function algebra $\mathcal{A}$ consisting of holomorphic functions on a bounded domain $\Omega$ in complex m space is introduced. It is shown that quasi-free Hilbert modules correspond to the completion of the direct sum of a certain number of copies of the algebra $\mathcal{A}$. A Hilbert module is said to be weakly regular (respectively, regular) if there exists a module map from a quasi-free module with dense range (respectively, onto). A Hilbert module $\mathcal{M}$ is said to be compactly supported if there exists a constant $\beta$ satisfying $\|\varphi f\| \leq \beta \ |\varphi \| \textsl{X} \|f \|$ for some compact subset X of $\Omega$ and $\varphi$ in $\mathcal{A}$, f in $\mathcal{M}$. It is shown that if a Hilbert module is compactly supported then it is weakly regular. The paper identifies several other classes of Hilbert modules which are weakly regular. In addition, this result is extended to yield topologically exact resolutions of such modules by quasi-free ones.  相似文献

Special classes of functions on the classical semigroupN of non-negative integers, as defined using the classical backward and forward difference operators, get associated in a natural way with special classes of bounded linear operators on Hilbert spaces. In particular, the class of completely monotone functions, which is a subclass of the class of positive definite functions ofN, gets associated with subnormal operators, and the class of completely alternating functions, which is a subclass of the class of negative definite functions onN, with completely hyper-expansive operators. The interplay between the theories of completely monotone and completely alternating functions has previously been exploited to unravel some interesting connections between subnormals and completely hyperexpansive operators. For example, it is known that a completely hyperexpansive weighted shift with the weight sequence {n}(n0) (of positive reals) gives rise to a subnormal weighted shift whose weight sequence is {1/n}(n0). The present paper discovers some new connections between the two classes of operators by building upon some well-known results in the literature that relate positive and negative definite functions on cartesian products of arbitrary sets using Bernstein functions. In particular, it is observed that the weight sequence of a completely hyperexpansive weighted shift with the weight sequence {n}(n0) (of positive reals) gives rise to a subnormal weighted shift whose weight sequence is {n+1/n}(n0). It is also established that the weight sequence of any completely hyperexpansive weighted shift is a Hausdorff moment sequence. Further, the connection of Bernstein functions with Stieltjes functions and generalizations thereof is exploited to link certain classes of subnormal weighted shifts to completely hyperexpansive ones.  相似文献

Ball in [Ba] showed that the commutant lifting theorem for the nest algebras due to Paulsen and Power gives a unified approach to a wide class of interpolation problems for nest algebras. By restricting our attention to the case when nest algebras associated with the problems are discrete we derive a variant of the commutant lifting theorem which avoids language of representation theory and which is sufficient to treat an analog of the generalized Schur-Nevannlinna-Pick (SNP) problem in the setting of upper triangular operators.  相似文献
