The synthesis, structure, spectroscopic and electro-spectrochemical properties of sterically constrained Schiff-base ligands (LnH) (n = 1, 2, and 3) (L = N-[m-(methylmercapto)aniline]-3,5-di-t-butylsalicylaldimine, m = 4, 3, and 2 positions, respectively) and their copper(II) complexes [Cu(Ln)2] are described. Three new dissymmetric bidentate salicylaldimine ligands containing a donor set of ONNO were prepared by reaction of different primary amine with 3,5-di-t-butyl-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde (3,5-DTB). The copper(II) metal complexes of these ligands were synthesized by treating an methanolic solution of the appropriate ligand with an equimolar amount of Cu(Ac)2 · H2O. The ligands and their copper complexes were characterized by FT-IR, UV–Vis, 1H and 13C NMR and elemental analysis methods in addition to magnetic susceptibility, molar conductivity, and spectroelectrochemical techniques. Analytical data reveal that copper(II) metal complexes possess 1:2 metal–ligand ratios. On the basis of molar conductance, the copper(II) metal complexes could be formulated as [Cu(Ln)2] due to their non-electrolytic nature in dimethylforamide (DMF). The room temperature magnetic moments of [Cu(Ln)2] complexes are in the range of 1.82–1.90 B.M which are typical for mononuclear of Cu(II) compounds with a S = 1/2 spin state. The complexes did not indicate antiferromagnetic coupling of spin at this temperature. Electrochemical and thin-layer spectroelectrochemical studies of the ligands and complexes were comparatively studied in the same experimental conditions. The results revealed that all ligands displayed irreversible reduction processes and the cathodic peak potential values of (L3H) are shifted towards negative potential values compared to those of (L1H) and (L2H). It is attributed to the weak-electron-donating methyl sulfanyl group substituted on the ortho (m = 2) position of benzene ring. Additionally, all copper complexes showed one quasi-reversible one-electron reduction process in the scan rates of 0.025–0.50 V s−1, which are assigned to simple metal-based one-electron processes; [Cu(2+)(Ln)2] + e → [Cu(1+)(Ln)2]. The spectral changes corresponding to the ligands and complexes during the applied potential in a thin-layer cell confirmed the ligand and metal-based reduction processes, respectively.  相似文献

Two new potentially octadentate N2O6 Schiff-base ligands 2-((E)-(2-(2-(2-((E)-2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylideneamino)phenoxy)phenoxy)phenylimino)methyl)-6-methoxyphenol H2L1 and 2-((E)-(2-(2-(2-((E)-2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylideneamino)phenoxy)-4-tert-butylphenoxy)phenylimino)methyl)-6-methoxyphenol H2L2 were prepared from the reaction of O-Vaniline with 1,2-bis(2′-aminophenoxy)benzene or 1,2-bis(2′-aminophenoxy)-4-t-butylbenzene, respectively. Reactions of H2L1 and H2L2 with copper(II) and zinc(II) salts in methanol in the presence of N(Et)3 gave neutral [CuL1]?·?0.5CH2Cl2, [CuL2], [ZnL1]?·?0.5CH2Cl2, and [ZnL2] complexes. The complexes were characterized by IR spectra, elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility, ESI–MS spectra, molar conductance (Λm), UV-Vis spectra and, in the case of [ZnL1]?·?0.5CH2Cl2 and [ZnL2], with 1H- and 13C-NMR. The crystal structure of [ZnL1]?·?0.5CH2Cl2 has also been determined showing the metal ion in a highly distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry. The electrochemical behavior of H2L2 and its Cu(II) complex, [CuL2], was studied and the formation constant of [CuL2] was evaluated using cyclic voltammetry. The logarithm value of formation constant of [CuL2] is 21.9.  相似文献

A new series of binuclear unsymmetrical compartmental oxime complexes (15) [M2L] [M=Cu(II), Ni(II)] have been synthesized using mononuclear complex [ML] (L=1,4-bis[2-hydroxy-3-(formyl)-5-methylbenzyl]piperazine), hydroxylamine hydrochloride and triethylamine. In this system there are two different compartments, one has piperazinyl nitrogens and phenolic oxygens and the other compartment has two oxime nitrogens and phenolic oxygens as coordinating sites. The complexes were characterized by elemental and spectral analysis. Electrochemical studies of the complexes show two step single electron quasi-reversible redox processes at cathodic potential region. For copper complexes E1 pc=−0.18 to −0.62 and E2 pc=−1.18 to −1.25 V, for nickel complexes E1 pc=−0.40 to −0.63 and E2 pc=−1.08 to −1.10 V and reduction potentials are sensitive towards the chemical environment around the copper and nickel atoms. The nickel(II) complexes undergo two electrons oxidation. The first one electron oxidation is observed around +0.75 V and the second around +1.13 V. ESR Spectra of the binuclear copper(II) complexes [Cu2L](ClO4), [Cu2L(Cl)], [Cu2L(NO3)] shows a broad signal at g=2.1 indicating the presence of coupling between the two copper centers. Copper(II) complexes show a magnetic moment value of μeff around 1.59 B.M at 298 K and variable temperature magnetic measurements show a −2J value of 172 cm−1 indicating presence of antiferromagnetic exchange interaction between copper(II) centres.  相似文献

Varying coordination modes of the Schiff base ligand H2L [5-methyl-1-H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid (1-pyridin-2-yl-ethylidene)-hydrazide] towards different metal centers are reported with the syntheses and characterization of four mononuclear Mn(II), Co(II), Cd(II) and Zn(II) complexes, [Mn(H2L)(H2O)2](ClO4)2(MeOH) (1), [Co(H2L)(NCS)2] (2), [Cd(H2L)(H2O)2](ClO4)2 (3) and [Zn(H2L)(H2O)2](ClO4)2 (4), and a binuclear Cu(II) complex, [Cu2(L)2](ClO4)2 (5). In the complexes 1-4 the neutral ligand serves as a 3N,2O donor where the pyridine ring N, two azomethine N and two carbohydrazine oxygen atoms are coordinatively active, leaving the pyrazole-N atoms inactive. In the case of complex 5, each ligand molecule behaves as a 4N,O donor utilizing the pyridine N, one azomethine N, the nitrogen atom proximal to the azomethine of the remaining pendant arm and one pyrazole-N atom to one metal center and the carbohydrazide oxygen atom to the second metal center. The complexes 1-4 are pentagonal bipyramidal in geometry. In each case, the ligand molecule spans the equatorial plane while the apical positions are occupied by water molecules in 1, 3 and 4 and two N bonded thiocyanate ions in 2. In complex 5, the two Cu(II) centers have almost square pyramidal geometry (τ = 0.05 for Cu1 and 0.013 for Cu2). Four N atoms from a ligand molecule form the basal plane and the carbohydrazide oxygen atom of a second ligand molecule sits in the apex of the square pyramid. All the complexes have been X-ray crystallographically characterized. The Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes show considerable fluorescence emission while the remaining complexes and the ligand molecule are fluorescent silent.  相似文献

Two polymeric complexes, [Cu2(btec)(phen)2]n·(H2O)n (1) and [Cd4(btec)2(phen)4(H2O)4]n (2) (H4btec=1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid; PHEN=1,10-phenanthroline), were synthesized by solvothermal reactions at 140 °C. Both complex 1 and 2 possess infinite double-chain structures, in which each Cu(II) center has a tetrahedral configuration and the Cd(II) centers adopt triangular prismatic and square-based pyramidal configurations simultaneously. The inter-chain face to face π–π interactions among the aromatic rings of phen and the hydrogen bond interactions between aqua molecules and carboxyl O atoms result in 3-D networks in the two complexes. The ESR spectra study of complex 1 shows that there is negligibly small long-range super-exchange interactions between the Cu(II) atoms via benzenecarboxylate bridging.  相似文献

An investigation of the MII/X/L [MII = Co, Ni, Cu, Zn; X = Cl, Br, I, NCS, NO3, N3, CH3COO; L = 1-methyl-4,5-diphenylimidazole] general reaction system towards the detailed study of the intermolecular interactions utilized for controlling the supramolecular organization and the structural consequences on the structures produced has been initiated. Three representative complexes with the formulae [Co(NO3)2(L)2] (1), [Zn(NO3)2(L)2] (2) and [Co(NCS)2(L)2]·EtOH (3·EtOH) have been synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic methods and single-crystal X-ray analysis. Compounds 1 and 2 are isomorphous (tetragonal, I41cd) with their metal ions in a severely distorted octahedral Co/ZnN2O4 environment, while 3·EtOH crystallizes in P21/c with a tetrahedral CoN4 coordination. The structural analysis of 1, 2 and 3·EtOH reveals a common mode of packing among neighbouring ligands (expressed through intramolecular ππ interactions between the 4,5-diphenylimidazole moieties), enhancing thus the rigidity and stability of the complexes. The bent coordination of the two isothiocyanates in 3 [Co–NCS angles of 173.8(2) and 160.8(2)°] seems to be caused by intermolecular hydrogen bonding and crystal packing effects.  相似文献

Mononuclear complexes of 3-methylpyrazole with general formulas (3-Mepz)4CuCl2 (1), (3-Mepz)4CoCl2 (2), (3-Mepz)2PdCl2 (3), and (3-Mepz)2ZnCl2 (4) were prepared by reaction of the corresponding MCl2 salt (M?=?Cu, Co, Pd, and Zn) with 3-methylpyrazole in appropriate amounts using acetonitrile as solvent at ambient temperature. The X-ray crystal structure determination reveals that 1 and 2 possess octahedral geometry, while 3 and 4 are square planar and tetrahedral, respectively. All the synthesized compounds have the MCl2 fragment, thus making the synthesized compounds attractive synthons for further transformation. The cyclic voltammograms of the synthesized complexes were obtained and the voltammetric signatures of 1, 2, and 4 showed a single irreversible pH-dependent cathodic peak, while 3 has two reversible cathodic peaks. Involvement of protons accompanying the electron transfer processes was ascertained from differential pulse voltammetric results, indicating peak potential shift as a function of pH.  相似文献

Four novel copper(Ⅱ) complexes have been synthesized,namely Cu(hfac)2NITPhNO2 (1),Cu(hfac)2NITPhCH3 (2),Cu(pfpr)2NITPhNO2,(3) and Cu(Pfpr)2NITPhCH3 (4),where hfac= hexafluoro-acetylacetonate,pfpr=pentafluoropropionate,NITR.=2-R-4,4,5,5-tetraniethyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazolyl-1-oxyl-3-oxide.(R=4-nitrophenyl,4-methylphenyl).These complexes were rharicter-ized by elemental analyses,IR,electronic spectra and molar conductance.The temperature-dependent magnetic susceptibility of complexes 1 and 3 have been studied in the 4 300 K range,giving I he exchange integral J=10.56 cm-1 for complex 1 and J =-30.9 cm-1 for complex 3.  相似文献

The reactions of nickel(II), copper(II), and zinc(II) acetate salts with a potentially tetradentate biphenyl-bridged bis(pyrrole-2-yl-methyleneamine) ligand yielded three complexes with different coordination geometries. X-ray crystal structural analysis reveals that in the nickel(II) complex each nickel is five-coordinate, distorted trigonal bipyramid. In the copper(II) complex, each copper is four-coordinate, between square planar and tetrahedral. In the zinc(II) complex, each zinc is four-coordinate with a distorted tetrahedral geometry and the molar ratio of the zinc and ligand is 1 : 2.  相似文献

Abstract

Two triply-bridged dinuclear copper(II) complexes of formula [LCu(μ-OH)(μ-OAc)(μ-X)CuL]X?0.5H2O where L is a bidentate ligand of N-(pyridine-2-ylmethyl)propane-2-amine and X=Cl, 1 and Br, 2 were synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, spectroscopic techniques (IR, UV–Vis, EPR), thermal analysis, conductance measurements, and single-crystal X-ray structure determination. The structures of both complexes are similar. The complexes show a distorted square-pyramidal arrangement around each copper(II) ion with a CuN2O2X chromophore in which both copper(II) ions are connected by a hydroxo bridge and a triatomic syn-syn carboxylato bridge in equatorial positions and a halide ion bridge at the axial site. The chromotropism behavior of the complexes, including solvato-, thermo-, and halochromism, were investigated in detail. Their halochromism was investigated in the pH range of 2.0–11.0 by visible absorption spectroscopy. The reversible color variations from blue to colorless are attributable to deprotonation and protonation of the ligands. The complexes show reversible thermochromism in solution due to dissociation and recombination of ligands to copper ions.  相似文献

Two divalent metal phosphonates with a layered structure, Zn(H2L) (1) and Cd2L (2) (H4L?=?CH3CH2CH2N(CH2PO3H2)2), have been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction as well as with infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis and thermogravimetric analysis. The structure of 1 shows a layered structure in which the 1D zinc(II) phosphonate chains are interconnected by bridging organic groups to form 2D layers. In 2, the interconnection of [CdO5N] and [CdO5] polyhedra via edge-sharing forms a dimer. The dimers are interconected by [CPO3] tetrahedra via corner-sharing to form 2D double layers in the bc-plane.  相似文献

Two new divalent metal phosphonates, [Cu2{CH3C(OH)(PO3)2}(H2O)2]?·?0.5H2O (1) and [NH3CH2CH2NH3][Zn3{CH3C(OH)(PO3)2}2(H2O)]?·?H2O (2), have been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction as well as with infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis and thermogravimetric analysis. The structure of 1 comprises [Cu3(hedp)2]2? layers connected by [CuO4] units to form a 3D open-framework structure with a one-dimensional channel system along the b axis. In 2, the connections of alternately arranged [ZnO4] tetrahedra, [ZnO6] octahedra and [CPO3] tetrahedra via vertex-sharing result in a 2D layered structure. The protonated ethylenediamine cations and water molecules are located between adjacent layers.  相似文献

Metal complexes of two general formulae [M(L)(Cl)(H2O)2] [M = Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II)] and [M(L)(H2O)] [M = Zn(II) and Cd(II)] with pyrazine-2-carbohydrazone of 2-hydroxy-5-methylacetophenone (H2L) are synthesized and characterized by microanalytical, thermal, magnetic susceptibility measurement, spectroscopic (IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR), mass, molar conductance, X-ray powder diffraction, ESR and SEM studies. While the molar conductance measurements in DMSO indicated their non-electrolytic nature, the spectroscopic studies confirmed a tridentate ONO donor behaviour of the ligand towards the central metal ion. Based on the physico-chemical studies monomeric octahedral geometry around Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) ions (i.e. for the first series of complexes) whereas tetrahedral to Zn(II) and Cd(II) ions (i.e. for the second series of complexes) are suggested. Based on the thermal behavior of the complexes, various kinetic and thermodynamic parameters were evaluated using Coats-Redfern method. The ligand and its metal complexes were screened for in vitro antibacterial and antifungal activity against Gram +ve S. aureus, B. subtilis and Gram –ve E. coli and S. typhi. and fungal strains, C. albicans and A. niger. The observed data infer promising biological activity of some of these complexes compared the parent ligand against all bacterial and fungal species.  相似文献

Two novel one-dimensional polymeric cyano-bridged platinum(II) complexes of N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-ethylenediamine (hydeten), [MII(hydeten)Pt(CN)2(μ-CN)2]n (MII = ZnII (1) and CdII (2)), were synthesized and characterized by physico-chemical methods (elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and thermoanalytical measurements) and X-ray diffraction. Thermal behaviours of 1 and 2 were followed using TG and DTA (DSC) techniques. The 1D chain structures of 1 and 2 were verified by X-ray diffraction studies. According to the positions of the bridging cyano groups, in complex 1 the polymeric chains are built up via the 2,2-CT type, while in complex 2 the polymeric chains are built up via the 2,2-TT type.  相似文献
