1‐Arylsulfonyl‐2‐styrylsulfonylthenes — source for a new class of bis heterocycles

New and novel sulfone linked bis heterocycles_ bis pyrroles and pyrrolyl pyrazolines are prepared from 1‐arylsulfonyl‐2‐styrylsulfonylethenes by 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition methodology.     

Sulfonic acid functionalized silica as an efficient heterogeneous recyclable catalyst for one‐pot synthesis of 2‐substituted benziimidazoles

An efficient one‐pot synthesis of 2‐substituted benzimidazoles from o‐phenylenediamine and aldehydes in the presence of sulfonic acid functionalized silica at room temperature is reported.     

Synthesis of 2‐substituted benzimidazoles by iodine‐mediated condensation of orthoesters with 1,2‐phenylenediamines

Iodine was found to be an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of 2‐substituted benzimidazoles by the condensation of orthoesters and 1,2‐phenylenediamines in good to excellent yields under mild reaction conditions.     

Solvent‐free one‐pot approach for synthesis of substituted 2‐aminochromenes

A solvent‐free one‐pot approach for the preparation of 2‐aminochromenes in the presence of NaHCO₃ by grinding was described. Its advantages are easy work‐up, mild reaction condition, high yield and environmental compatibility.     

Chemistry and application of 4‐oxo‐4H‐1‐benzopyran‐3‐carboxaldehyde

The Chemistry and application of the title aldehyde and some simple derivatives thereof are reviewed.     

An efficient and green synthesis of 3,3′‐benzylidenebis (4‐hydroxy‐6‐methylpyridin‐2(1H)‐one) derivatives through multi‐component reaction in ionic liquid

A series of new 3,3′‐benzylidenebis(4‐hydroxy‐6‐methylpyridin‐2(1H)‐one) derivatives were synthesized via a three‐component reaction of an aldehyde, an aniline or ammonium acetate and 6‐methyl‐4‐hydroxypyran‐2‐one in ionic liquid. These heterocyclic compounds produced could be conveniently separated from the reaction mixture without any volatile organic solvents, and the ionic liquid could be readily reused without efficiency loss after simple treatment.     

Furazan‐Functionalized Tetrazolate‐Based Salts: A New Family of Insensitive Energetic Materials

Insensitive energetic salts : A series of furazan‐functionalized tetrazolate‐based energetic salts (see figure) were synthesized and characterized. All of the salts exhibit excellent thermal stabilities and high positive heats of formation.

     

Deoxygenation of pyridine N‐oxides with dimethylthiocarbamoyl chloride

Treatment of pyridine N‐oxides with dimethylthiocarbamoyl chloride in boiling acetonitrile effects chemoselective deoxygenation to pyridines.     

A facile synthesis of 1‐alkyl‐5‐arylalkoxy‐6‐methoxy‐3,4‐dihydroisoquinolines

1‐Alkyl‐5‐arylalkoxy‐6‐methoxy‐3,4‐dihydroisoquinolines were synthesized by the alkylation of 1‐alkyl‐5‐hydroxy‐6‐methoxy‐3,4‐dihydroisoquinolines with arylalkyl halide in the presence of potassium carbonate. 1‐Alkyl‐5‐hydroxy‐6‐methoxy‐3,4‐dihydroisoquinolines as key precursor prepared from o‐vaniline via 6 steps.     

Ground‐ and Excited‐State Tautomerization Rates in Porphycenes

Reaction rates from polarized spectroscopy : A new method based on ultrafast pump–probe polarization spectroscopy enables the measurement of the ground‐ and excited‐state reaction rates for self‐exchange processes. The technique was used to study double hydrogen transfer in porphycene and its derivatives (see figure).

     

Fused pyridines by a tandem aza‐wittig / heterocyclization strategy: Synthesis of 1,2,4‐triazolo[1,5‐a]pyridines and pyrido[1,2‐b][1,2,4]triazines

The iminophosphorane 1‐amino‐6‐(triphenylphosphoranylideneamino)‐2‐oxo‐4‐phenyl‐1,2‐dihydro‐pyridine‐3,5‐dicarbonitrile 2 prepared from 1,6‐diaminopyridine 1 reacts with heterocumulenes such as carbon disulfide and phenylisocyanate, and with acid chlorides, acid anhydrides and haloketones to give directly the title compounds in an one‐pot aza‐Wittig / heterocyclic‐ring closure process with good yields.     

Phenacylsulfonylacetic acid methyl ester‐synthon for 1,2,3‐selena/thiadiazoles and 2H‐diazaphospholes

A new class of 1,2,3‐selena/thiadiazoles and 2H‐diazaphospholes were synthesized by exploiting α‐ketomethylene group in phenacylsulfonylacetic acid methyl ester.
