The kinetics of the permanganate oxidation of formic acid in aqueous perchloric acid at 30°C were examined by the spectrophotometric method. The chemical reaction 2MnO + 3HCOOH + 2H+ → 2MnO2 + 3CO2 + 4H2O, appears to proceed via several parallel reactions. The overall rate equation has been obtained by using statistical multilinear regression analysis of the 660 cases studied, and the presence in the rate equation of two new terms in relation to previous studies shows that both permanganate autocatalytic effects and acid media inhibition must be taken into account when the reaction proceeds at constant ionic strength.  相似文献

The kinetics and mechanism of cerium(IV) oxidation of hexitols, i.e. D ‐sorbitol and D ‐mannitol, in aqueous sulfuric acid media have been studied in the presence and absence of surfactants. Under the kinetic conditions, [S]T ? [Ce(IV)]T, where [S]T is the total substrate (D ‐sorbitol or D ‐mannitol) concentration, the overall process shows a first‐order dependence on [Ce(IV)]T and [S]T. The process is acid catalyzed and inhibited by [HSO]. From the [HSO] dependence, it has been noted that the both Ce(SO4)2+ and Ce(SO4)2 have been found kinetically active. The different rate constants in the presence and absence of surfactants have been estimated with the activation parameters. N‐cetylpyridinium chloride has been found to retard the oxidation process of hexitols, whereas sodium dodecyl sulfate has been found to accelerate the rate process. All these findings including the micellar effects have been interpreted in terms of the proposed reaction mechanism and partitioning behavior of the kinetically active different species of Ce(IV) between the aqueous and pseudomicellar phase. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 40: 445–453, 2008  相似文献

Protonated benzene, C6H, has been studied extensively to understand the structure and energy of a protonated organic molecule in the gas phase. The formation of C6H is either through direct protonation of benzene, i.e., chemical ionization, or through fragmentation of certain radical cations produced from electron ionization or photon ionization. We report a novel observation of C6H as a product ion formed in the collision‐induced dissociation (CID) of protonated benzamide and related molecules produced via electrospray ionization (ESI). The formation of C6H from these even‐electron precursor ions during the CID process, which has not been previously reported, is proposed to occur from the protonated molecules via a proton migration in a five‐membered ring intermediate followed by the cleavage of the mono‐substituent C? C bond and concurrent formation of an ion‐molecule complex. This unique mechanism has been scrutinized by examining some deuterated molecules and a series of structurally related model compounds. This finding provides a convenient mean to generate C6H, a reactive intermediate of considerable interest, for further physical or chemical investigation. Further studies indicate that the occurrence of C6H in liquid chromatography/electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (LC/ESI‐MS/MS) appears to be a rather common phenomenon for many compounds that contain ‘benzoyl‐type’ moieties. Hence, the observation of the C6H ion in LC/ESI‐MS/MS can be used as an informative fragmentation pathway which should facilitate the identification of a great number of compounds containing the ‘benzoyl‐type’ and similar structural features. These compounds are frequently present in food and pharmaceutical products as leachable impurities that require strict control and rapid elucidation of their identities. Vanadium(V) oxidation of D ‐glucose shows first‐order dependence on D ‐glucose, vanadium(V), H+, and HSO. These observations remain unaltered in the presence of externally added surfactants. The effect of the cationic surfactant (i.e., N‐cetylpyridinium chloride [CPC]), anionic surfactant (i.e., sodium dodecyl sulfate [SDS]), and neutral surfactant (i.e., Trion X‐100 [TX‐100]) has been studied. CPC inhibits the reactions, whereas SDS and TX‐100 accelerate the reaction to different extents. Observed effects have been explained by considering the hydrophobic and electrostatic interaction between the surfactants and reactants. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The structural features of vibrational excitation cross‐sections in resonant e‐H2 scattering have been investigated using a time dependent wave packet approach and a local complex potential to describe the 2Σ H anion. An analysis of the partial contributions to the vibrational excitation cross‐sections reveals that all features of the excitation profile result from simple interference between bound vibrational levels of H2 and H. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Transition Metal Chalkogen Compounds. Preparation, I.R. spectra, Raman Spectra, and X-Ray Investigations on Compounds of the Type A3(MeOS3)CI and A2 MeOS3(A = K, Rb; Me = Mo, W) The preparation, vibrational spectra, and x-ray data of compounds of the type A3(MeOS3)Cl and A2MeOS3 (A = K, Rb; Me = Mo, W) are reported. K3(MoOS3)Cl, K3(WOS3)Cl, and Rb3(WOS3)Cl are novel salts which can be prepared by passing H2S through strong alcaline aqueous MoO and WO solutions containing KCl or RbCl. The salts crystallize in space group Pca21? C (No. 29) (Z = 4) with discrete MeOS tetrahedrons. The compounds A2MeOS3 (A = K, Rb; Ne = Mo, W) which are in part precipitable only by addition of organic solvents crystallize in space group Pnma? Thin films of AgSbS2 are important for phase‐change memory applications. This solid is deposited by various techniques, such as metal organic chemical vapour deposition or laser ablation deposition, and the structure of AgSbS2(s), as either amorphous or crystalline, is already well characterized. The pulsed laser ablation deposition (PLD) of solid AgSbS2 is also used as a manufacturing process. However, the processes in plasma have not been well studied. We have studied the laser ablation of synthesized AgSbS2(s) using a nitrogen laser of 337 nm and the clusters formed in the laser plume were identified. The ablation leads to the formation of various single charged ternary AgpSbqSr clusters. Negatively charged AgSbS, AgSb2S, AgSb2S, AgSb2S and positively charged ternary AgSbS+, AgSb2S+, AgSb2S, AgSb2S clusters were identified. The formation of several singly charged Ag+, Ag, Ag, Sb, Sb, S ions and binary AgpSr clusters such as AgSb, Ag3S?, SbS (r = 1–5), Sb2S?, Sb2S, Sb3S (r = 1–4) and AgS, SbS+, SbS, Sb2S+, Sb2S, Sb3S (r = 1–4), AgSb was also observed. The stoichiometry of the clusters was determined via isotopic envelope analysis and computer modeling. The relation of the composition of the clusters to the crystal structure of AgSbS2 is discussed. On the Stoichiometry of the Allotropic Variation γ-Bi2O3 The study of the solid solutions Bi12[BBi□1/5]O20 (B+V = As, V) with 0 ? x ? 0,80 leads for x = 0,77 to a phase whose cubic centered symmetry and parameter (10.255 Å) correspond to those previously announced for γ-Bi2O3. The présence of impurities seems required to obtain such a phase whose theoretical stoichiometry should be Bi12[Bi□1/5]O20 i. e. Bi2O3,125.  相似文献

Synthesis, Vibrational Spectra, and Crystal Structure of ( n ‐Bu4N)2[(W6Cl )F ] · 2 CH2Cl2 and 19F NMR Spectroscopic Evidence of the Mixed Cluster Anions [(W6Cl )F Cl ]2–, n = 1–6 The reaction of (n‐Bu4N)2[(W6Cl)Cl] with CF3COOH in dichloromethane gives intermediately a mixture of the cluster anions [(W6Cl)(CF3COO)Cl]2–, n = 1–6. By treatment with NH4F the outer sphere coordinated trifluoracetato ligands are easily substituted and the components of the series [(W6Cl)FCl], n = 1–6 are formed and characterized by their distinct 19F NMR chemical shifts. An X‐ray structure determination has been performed on a single crystal of (n‐Bu4N)2[(W6Cl)F] · 2 CH2Cl2 (orthorhombic, space group Pbca, a = 15.628(4), b = 17.656(3), c = 20.687(4) Å, Z = 4). The low temperatur IR (60 K) and Raman (20 K) spectra are assigned by normal coordinate analysis based on the molecular parameters of the X‐ray determination. The valence force constants are fd(WW) = 1.89, fd(WF) = 2.43 and fd(WCl) = 0.93 mdyn/Å.  相似文献

The kinetics of the permanganate oxidation of formic acid in aqueous perchloric acid has been studied. The results indicate that this reaction is autocatalyzed by both manganese(II) ion (formed as a reaction product) and colloidal manganese dioxide (formed as an intermediate). The apparent rate constants corresponding to the noncatalytic and autocatalytic reaction pathways are given, respectively, by the following equations The activation energies associated with the true rate constants, ??, ??, ??, ??, ??, and ?? are 37.2, 62.5, 70.9, 52.5, 40.8, and 59.9 kJ mol?1, respectively. The percentage of the total reaction corresponding to each pathway is given for typical experimental conditions. Mechanisms in agreement with the kinetic data are proposed for the six different reaction pathways observed.  相似文献

The crystal unit‐cell structures and the isothermal crystallization kinetics of poly(L ‐lactide) in biodegradable poly(L ‐lactide)‐block‐methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) (PLLA‐b‐MePEG) diblock copolymers have been analyzed by wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry. In particular, the effects due to the presence of MePEG that is chemically connected to PLLA as well as the PLLA crystallization temperature TC are examined. Though we observe no variation of both the PLLA and MePEG crystal unit‐cell structures with the block ratio between PLLA and MePEG and TC, the isothermal crystallization kinetics of PLLA is greatly influenced by the presence of MePEG that is connected to it. In particular, the equilibrium melting temperature of PLLA, T, significantly decreases in the diblock copolymers. When the TC is high so that the crystallization is controlled by nucleation, because of the decreasing T and thereafter the nucleation density with decreasing PLLA molecular weight, the crystallinity of PLLA also decreases with a decrease in the PLLA molecular weight. While, for the lower crystallization temperature regime controlled by the growth mechanism, the crystallizability of PLLA in copolymers is greater than that of pure PLLA. This suggests that the activation energy for the PLLA segment diffusing to the crystallization site decreases in the diblocks. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Vibration spectra and force constants of the series O2PF — S2PF — S2P(CH3). The vibrational spectra of OSPF, S2PF, S2PF(CH3) and S2P(CN) are reported and discussed with O2PF and S2P(CH3). On the basis of a simplified valence-force-field the force constants are calculated and the bonding relations are discussed. In the ions, f PF is lower than in corresponding molecules. The ionic charge is distributed over nearly all atoms of the ions.  相似文献

An ion of formula C6H5N (m/z 105) has been produced by atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) of benzene and clearly detected in the corresponding positive ion mass spectrum. Its elemental composition has been established by the mass shift at m/z 110 observed when measurements were carried out with hexadeuterated benzene. MS2 experiments performed in the ion‐trap analyzer, and guided ion beam (GIB) experiments on the reaction of the phenyl cation with nitrogen molecules, allow us to establish that the detected C6H5N ion is the benzenediazonium ion. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on the gas‐phase total synthesis of the benzenediazonium ion within the APCI source. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The kinetics of ketone‐catalyzed decomposition of caroate (peroxomonosulfate) was studied in aqueous alkaline medium at 25°C. The rate follows simple second‐order kinetics, first order in each [Ketone] and [PMS]. The rate constant values are independent of hydroxide ion concentrations over the range from 0.05 M to 0.15 M. The experimental results suggest that the nucleophilic addition of SO ion at the carbonyl carbon leads to the formation of oxirane intermediate in the rate‐determining step. Oxirane reacts rapidly with another SO to give the parent ketone, oxygen, and SO. The observed substituent effect on the activation energy EA and Arrhenius (A) factor suggests that the electron‐donating substituents stabilize the activated state and make the entropy of activation more negative. This can be explained by the fact that the mechanism of oxirane formation shifts from concentric to nonconcentric process as we go from acetone to 3‐hexanone. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. On Ordered Perovskites with Cationic Vacancies. X. Compounds of Type A B B □1/4MVIO6 ? A BIIB □M O24 with AII, BII = Ba, Sr, Ca and MVI = U, W Perovskites of type Ba8BIIB2III□UO24 show polymorphic phase transformations of order disorder type. An 1:1 ordered orthorhombic HT form is transformed into a higher ordered LT modification with a fourfold cell content (four formula units Ba8BIIB□U4O24), compared to cubic 1:1 ordered perovskites A2BMO6. In the series Ba8BaB□W4O24 and Sr8SrB□W4O24 different ordering phenomena are observed. In comparison with 1:1 ordered cubic perovskites A2BMO6, the cell contains eight formula units ABIIB□W4O24. The higher ordered cells with UVI and WVI are face centered, which has its origin in an ordering of cationic vacancies.  相似文献

Cationic polymerizations of trioxane in 1,2‐ethylene dichloride and benzene were heterogeneous and reversible. Phase separation accompanying with crystallization occurred during the polymerization. Three morphological changes were found in the course of the polymerization as were investigated by dilatometry and precipitation method. Based on the findings of morphological changes and three reversible processes for the polymerization, a rate equation was proposed to describe the polymerization. The proposed rate equation was fairly good in describing the experimental data, and kinetics constants including Kp, Kd, Kp′, Kd′, M, M, and Kdis/Kcr for the polymerization at 30, 40, and 50°C in 1,2‐ethylene dichloride and benzene were obtained. The characteristic fragmentations of a pTyr group in the negative ion electrospray mass spectrum of the [M–H]? anion of a peptide or protein involve the formation of PO (m/z 79) and the corresponding [(M‐H)?–HPO3]? species. In some tetrapeptides where pTyr is the third residue, these characteristic anion fragmentations are accompanied by ions corresponding to H2PO and [(M‐H)?–H3PO4]? (these are fragmentations normally indicating the presence of pSer or pThr). These product ions are formed by rearrangement processes which involve initial nucleophilic attack of a C‐terminal ‐CO [or ‐C(?NH)O?] group at the phosphorus of the Tyr side chain [an SN2(P) reaction]. The rearrangement reactions have been studied by ab initio calculations at the HF/6‐31+G(d)//AM1 level of theory. The study suggests the possibility of two processes following the initial SN2(P) reaction. In the rearrangement (involving a C‐terminal carboxylate anion) with the lower energy reaction profile, the formation of the H2PO and [(M‐H)?–H3PO4]? anions is endothermic by 180 and 318 kJ mol?1, respectively, with a maximum barrier (to a transition state) of 229 kJ mol?1. The energy required to form H2PO by this rearrangement process is (i) more than that necessary to effect the characteristic formation of PO from pTyr, but (ii) comparable with that required to effect the characteristic α, β and γ backbone cleavages of peptide negative ions.
