Two multi‐walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)‐based nanohybrids, MWCNT–ZnTPP and MWCNT–TPP (TPP=5‐[4‐{2‐(4‐formylphenoxy)‐ ethyloxy}phenyl]‐10,15,20‐triphenylporphyrin, ZnTPP=5‐[4‐{(4‐formylphenyl)ethynyl}phenyl]‐10,15,20‐triphenylporphinatozinc(II)), were prepared directly from pristine MWCNTs through 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition reactions. Covalent attachment of the porphyrins to the surfaces of the MWCNTs was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet/visible absorption, fluorescence, Raman, and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, elemental analysis, transmission electron microscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. Attachment of the porphyrin moieties to the surface of the MWCNTs significantly improves the solubility and ease of processing of these MWCNT–porphyrin composite materials. Z‐scan studies reveal that these MWCNT–porphyrin nanohybrids exhibit enhanced nonlinear optical properties under both nanosecond and picosecond laser pulses at λ=532 nm in comparison with free MWCNTs and the free porphyrin chromophores, whereas superior optical limiting performance was displayed by MWCNT–porphyrin composite materials rather than MWCNTs/ZnTPP and MWCNTs/TPP blends, which is consistent with a remarkable accumulation effect as a result of the covalent linkage between the porphyrin and the MWCNTs.  相似文献

The photophysical properties of the 5-(4-pyridyl)-10,15,20-tri(4-methyloxyphenyl)porphyrins covalently linked to polyethylene glycol – PEG of different molecular weights (35000, 20000 and 8000) dissolved in dimethylsulfoxide were studied. The singlet and triplet states of the porphyrin species behavior were discussed in terms of fluorescence and thermal relaxation processes. The absorption, fluorescence and photothermal experiments showed that in the porphyrins linked to the PEG systems in dimethylsulfoxide the dye moieties occur in weakly interacting dimers. The triplet state enhancement in the 5-(4-pyridyl)-10,15,20-tri(4-methyloxyphenyl)porphyrins covalently linked to PEG was discussed. It was shown that even that the weak interaction of the porphyrin species in the covalent systems with PEG is not detectable by the absorption and only slightly by fluorescence, it is possible to be performed by the complementary spectroscopic methods like photoacoustics and photothermal time resolved spectroscopy.  相似文献

The self‐assembly and induced supramolecular chirality of meso‐tetrakis(4‐sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin (TSPP) on both single‐wall (SWCNT) and multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) are investigated. Under mild pH conditions (pH 3), TSPP forms aggregates when CNTs are dispersed in an aqueous solution containing positively charged polyelectrolytes such as poly‐L ‐lysine (PLL) or poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH). Evidence for the geometry of the porphyrin aggregates is obtained from absorption spectra, whereby the fingerprints of J‐ and H‐aggregates are clearly seen only in the presence of smaller‐diameter nanotubes. J‐aggregates are better stabilized with PLL, whereas in the presence of PAH mainly H‐aggregates prevail. Excited‐state interactions within these nanohybrids are studied by steady‐state and time‐resolved fluorescence. The porphyrin emission intensity in the nanohybrid solution is significantly quenched compared to that of TSPP alone, and this implies strong electronic interaction between CNTs and porphyrin molecules. Fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) further supports that porphyrin arrays are associated with the MWCNT sidewalls wrapped in PLL. In the case of the SWCNT hybrid, spherical structures associated with longer fluorescence lifetime appeared after one week, indicative of H‐aggregates of TSPP. The latter are the result of π–π stacking of porphyrin units on neighboring nanotubes facilitated by the strong tendency of these nanotubes to interact with each other. These results highlight the importance of optimum dimensions and surface‐area architectures of CNTs in the control/stability of the porphyrin aggregates with promising properties for light harvesting.  相似文献

The incorporation of symmetrically branched tridecyl ("swallowtail") substituents at the meso positions of porphyrins results in highly soluble building blocks. Synthetic routes have been investigated to obtain porphyrin building blocks bearing 1-4 swallowtail groups. Porphyrin dyads have been synthesized in which the zinc or free base (Fb) porphyrins are joined by a 4,4'-diphenylethyne linker and bear swallowtail (or n-pentyl) groups at the nonlinking meso positions. The swallowtail-substituted Zn(2)- and ZnFb-dyads are readily soluble in common organic solvents. Static absorption and fluorescence spectra and electrochemical data show that the presence of the swallowtail groups slightly raises the energy level of the filled a(2u)(pi) HOMO. EPR studies of the pi-cation radicals of the swallowtail porphyrins indicate that the torsional angle between the proton on the alkyl carbon and p-orbital on the meso carbon of the porphyrin is different from that of a porphyrin bearing linear pentyl groups. Regardless, the swallowtail substituents do not significantly affect the photophysical properties of the porphyrins or the electronic interactions between the porphyrins in the dyads. In particular, time-resolved spectroscopic studies indicate that facile excited-state energy transfer occurs in the ZnFb dyad, and EPR studies of the monocation radical of the Zn(2)-dyad show that interporphyrin ground-state hole transfer is rapid.  相似文献

Photoinduced charge separation processes of three-layer supramolecular hybrids, fullerene-porphyrin-SWCNT, which are constructed from semiconducting (7,6)- and (6,5)-enriched SWCNTs and self-assembled via π-π interacting long alkyl chain substituted porphyrins (tetrakis(4-dodecyloxyphenyl)porphyrins; abbreviated as MP(alkyl)(4)) (M = Zn and H(2)), to which imidazole functionalized fullerene[60] (C(60)Im) is coordinated, have been investigated in organic solvents. The intermolecular alkyl-π and π-π interactions between the MP(alkyl)(4) and SWCNTs, in addition, coordination between C(60)Im and Zn ion in the porphyrin cavity are visualized using DFT calculations at the B3LYP/3-21G(*) level, predicting donor-acceptor interactions between them in the ground and excited states. The donor-acceptor nanohybrids thus formed are characterized by TEM imaging, steady-state absorption and fluorescence spectra. The time-resolved fluorescence studies of MP(alkyl)(4) in two-layered nanohybrids (MP(alkyl)(4)/SWCNT) revealed efficient quenching of the singlet excited states of MP(alkyl)(4) ((1)MP*(alkyl)(4)) with the rate constants of charge separation (k(CS)) in the range of (1-9) × 10(9) s(-1). A nanosecond transient absorption technique confirmed the electron transfer products, MP˙(+)(alkyl)(4)/SWCNT˙(-) and/or MP˙(-)(alkyl)(4)/SWCNT˙(+) for the two-layer nanohybrids. Upon further coordination of C(60)Im to ZnP, acceleration of charge separation via(1)ZnP* in C(60)Im→ZnP(alkyl)(4)/SWCNT is observed to form C(60)˙(-)Im→ZnP˙(+)(alkyl)(4)/SWCNT and C(60)˙(-)Im→ZnP(alkyl)(4)/SWCNT˙(+) charge separated states as supported by the transient absorption spectra. These characteristic absorptions decay with rate constants due to charge recombination (k(CR)) in the range of (6-10) × 10(6) s(-1), corresponding to the lifetimes of the radical ion-pairs of 100-170 ns. The electron transfer in the nanohybrids has further been utilized for light-to-electricity conversion by the construction of proof-of-concept photoelectrochemical solar cells.  相似文献

Tetrameric porphyrin formation of 2‐hydroxymethylpyrrole fused with porphyrins through a bicyclo[2.2.2]octadiene unit gave bicyclo[2.2.2]octadiene‐fused porphyrin pentamers. Thermal conversion of the pentamers gave fully π‐conjugated cruciform porphyrin pentamers fused with benzene units in quantitative yields. UV/Vis spectra of fully π‐conjugated porphyrin pentamers showed one very strong Q absorption and were quite different from those of usual porphyrins. From TD‐DFT calculations, the HOMO level is 0.49 eV higher than the HOMO?1 level. The LUMO and LUMO+1 levels are very close and are lower by more than 0.27 eV than those of other unoccupied MOs. The strong Q absorption was interpreted as two mutually orthogonal single‐electron transitions (683 nm: 86 %, HOMO→LUMO; 680 nm: 86 %, HOMO→LUMO+1). The two‐photon absorption (TPA) cross section value (σ(2)) of the benzene‐fused porphyrin pentamer was estimated to be 3900 GM at 1500 nm, which is strongly correlated with a cruciform molecular structure with multidirectional π‐conjugation pathways.  相似文献

In this work, the effect of the single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) as the mixtures of metallic and semiconducting tubes (M + S-SWNTs) as well as highly separated semiconducting (S-SWNTs) and metallic (M-SWNTs) tubes on the photoluminescence (PL) of poly(3-hexyl thiophene) (P3HT) was reported. Two methods were used to prepare such composites, that is, the chemical interaction of the two constituents and the electrochemical polymerization of the 3-hexyl thiophene onto the rough Au supports modified with carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The measurements of the anisotropic PL of these composites have highlighted a significant diminution of the angle of the binding of the P3HT films electrochemical synthetized onto Au electrodes covered with M + S-SWNTs. This change was attributed to metallic tubes, as was demonstrated using the anisotropic PL measurements carried out on the P3HT/M-SWNTs and P3HT/S-SWNTs composites. Small variations in the angle of the binding were reported in the case of the composites prepared by chemical interaction of the two constituents. The proposed mechanism to explain this behavior took into account the functionalization process of CNTs with P3HT. The experimental arguments of the functionalization process of CNTs with P3HT were shown by the UV-VIS-NIR and FTIR spectroscopy as well as surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). A PL quenching process of P3HT induced both in the presence of S-SWNTs and M-SWNTs was reported, too. This process origins in the various de-excitation pathways which can be developed considering the energy levels diagram of the two constituents of each studied composite.  相似文献

Chemically converted graphene (CCG) covalently linked with porphyrins has been prepared by a Suzuki coupling reaction between iodophenyl‐functionalized CCG and porphyrin boronic ester. The covalently linked CCG–porphyrin composite was designed to possess a short, rigid phenylene spacer between the porphyrin and the CCG. The composite material formed stable dispersions in DMF and the structure was characterized by spectroscopic, thermal, and microscopic measurements. In steady‐state photoluminescence spectra, the emission from the porphyrin linked to the CCG was quenched strongly relative to that of the porphyrin reference. Fluorescence lifetime and femtosecond transient absorption measurements of the porphyrin‐linked CCG revealed a short‐lived porphyrin singlet excited state (38 ps) without yielding the porphyrin radical cation, thereby substantiating the occurrence of energy transfer from the porphyrin excited state to the CCG and subsequent rapid decay of the CCG excited state to the ground state. Consistently, the photocurrent action spectrum of a photoelectrochemical device with a SnO2 electrode coated with the porphyrin‐linked CCG exhibited no photocurrent response from the porphyrin absorption. The results obtained here provide deep insight into the interaction between graphenes and π‐conjugated systems in the excited and ground states.  相似文献

A study on thermogravimetric analyses, surface photovoltage (SPV), electron paramagnetic resonance and electrochemical properties comparing a porphyrin dimer with that of corresponding monomer was presented. The SPV intensity is weaker than that corresponding monomer, and with field-induced surface photovoltage spectroscopy (FISPS) reveal that all the compounds are p-type semiconductors. The spectral bands of all the porphyrins corresponded to π → π* transitions. Electrons (or holes) can be trapped on the porphyrins by applying both light and negative (or positive) electric field. The electrochemistry and EPR of the porphyrins show clearly that a π–π interaction existed between the two macrocycles of the dimer.  相似文献

Tetraphenyl porphyrin substituted deoxyuridine was used as a building block to create discrete multiporphyrin arrays via site specific incorporation into DNA. The successful covalent attachment of up to 11 tetraphenyl porphyrins in a row onto DNA shows that there is virtually no limitation in the amount of substituents, and the porphyrin arrays thus obtained reach the nanometer scale (approximately 10 nm). The porphyrin substituents are located in the major groove of the dsDNA and destabilize the duplex by deltaT(m) 5-7 degrees C per porphyrin modification. Force-field structure minimization shows that the porphyrins are either in-line with the groove in isolated modifications or aligned parallel to the nucleobases in adjacent modifications. The CD signals of the porphyrins are dominated by a negative peak arising from the intrinsic properties of the building block. In the single strands, the porphyrins induce stabilization of a secondary helical structure which is confined to the porphyrin modified part. This arrangement can be reproduced by force-field minimization and reveals an elongated helical arrangement compared to the double helix of the porphyrin-DNA. This secondary structure is disrupted above approximately 55 degrees C (T(p)) which is shown by various melting experiments. Both absorption and emission spectroscopy disclose electronic interactions between the porphyrin units upon stacking along the outer rim of the DNA leading to a broadening of the absorbance and a quenching of the emission. The single-stranded and double-stranded form show different spectroscopic properties due to the different arrangement of the porphyrins. Above T(p) the electronic properties (absorption and emission) of the porphyrins change compared to room temperature measurements due to the disruption of the porphyrin stacking at high temperature. The covalent attachment of porphyrins to DNA is therefore a suitable way of creating helical stacks of porphyrins on the nanometer scale.  相似文献

Single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) synthesized with different methods are investigated by using multiple characterization techniques, including Raman scattering, optical absorption, and X‐ray absorption near edge structure, along with X‐ray photoemission by following the total valence bands and C 1s core‐level spectra. Four different SWNT materials (produced by arc discharge, HiPco, laser ablation, and CoMoCat methods) contain nanotubes with diameters ranging from 0.7 to 2.8 nm. The diameter distribution and the composition of metallic and semiconducting tubes of the SWNT materials are strongly affected by the synthesis method. Similar sp2 hybridization of carbon in the oxygenated SWNT structure can be found, but different surface functionalities are introduced while the tubes are processed. All the SWNTs demonstrate stronger plasmon resonance excitations and lower electron binding energy than graphite and multiwalled carbon nanotubes. These SWNT materials also exhibit different valence‐band X‐ray photoemission features, which are considerably affected by the nanotube diameter distribution and metallic/semiconducting composition.  相似文献

The Pd-mediated Glaser coupling of a zinc monoethynyl porphyrin and a magnesium monoethynyl porphyrin affords a mixture of three 4,4'-diphenylbutadiyne-linked dyads comprised of two zinc porphyrins (Zn-pbp-Zn), two magnesium porphyrins (Mg-pbp-Mg), and one metalloporphyrin of each type (Zn-pbp-Mg). The latter is easily isolated due to the greater polarity of the magnesium versus the zinc chelate. Exposure of Zn-pbp-Mg to silica gel results in selective demetalation, affording Zn-pbp-Fb where Fb = free base porphyrin. This synthesis route employs the magnesium porphyrin as a latent form of the Fb porphyrin, thereby avoiding copper insertion during the Glaser reaction, and as a polar entity facilitating separation. The absorption spectrum of Zn-pbp-Mg or Zn-pbp-Fb is the sum of the spectra of the component parts, while in each case the fluorescence spectrum upon illumination of the Zn porphyrin is dominated by emission from the Mg or Fb porphyrin. Time-resolved absorption spectroscopy shows that the energy-transfer rate constants are (11 ps)(-1) and (37 ps)(-1) for Zn-pbp-Mg and Zn-pbp-Fb, respectively, corresponding to energy-transfer quantum yields of 0.995 and 0.983, respectively. The calculated F?rster through-space rates are (1900 ps)(-1) and (1100 ps)(-1) for Zn-pbp-Mg and Zn-pbp-Fb, respectively. Accordingly, the through-bond process dominates for both dyads with a through-bond:through-space energy-transfer ratio of > or =97:1. Collectively, the studies show that the 4,4'-diphenylbutadiynyl linker supports fast and efficient energy transfer between Zn and Mg or Fb porphyrins.  相似文献

A phosphole‐fused porphyrin dimer, as a representative of a new class of porphyrins with a phosphorus atom, was synthesized for the first time. The porphyrin dimer exhibits remarkably broadened absorption, indicating effective π‐conjugation over the two porphyrins through the phosphole moiety. The porphyrin dimer possesses excellent electron‐accepting character, which is comparable to that of a representative electron‐accepting material, [60]PCBM. These results provide access to a new class of phosphorus‐containing porphyrins with unique optoelectronic properties.  相似文献

A series of coronenetetraimide (CorTIm)‐centered cruciform pentamers containing multiporphyrin units, in which four porphyrin units are covalently linked to a CorTIm core through benzyl linkages, were designed and synthesized to investigate their structural, spectroscopic, and electrochemical properties as well as photoinduced electron‐ and energy‐transfer dynamics. These systems afforded the first synthetic case of coroneneimide derivatives covalently linked with dye molecules. The steady‐state absorption and electrochemical results indicate that a CorTIm and four porphyrin units were successfully characterized by the corresponding reference monomers. In contrast, the steady‐state fluorescence measurements demonstrated that strong fluorescence quenching relative to the corresponding monomer units was observed in these pentamers. Nanosecond laser flash photolysis measurements revealed the occurrence of intermolecular electron transfer from triplet excited state of zinc porphyrins to CorTIm. Femtosecond laser‐induced transient absorption measurements for excitation of the CorTIm unit clearly demonstrate the sequential photoinduced energy and electron transfer between CorTIm and porphyrins, that is, occurrence of the initial energy transfer from CorTIm (energy donor) to porphyrins (energy acceptor) and subsequent electron transfer from porphyrins (electron donor) to CorTIm (electron acceptor) in these pentamers, whereas only the electron‐transfer process from porphyrins to CorTIm was observed when we mainly excite porphyrin units. Finally, construction of high‐order supramolecular patterning of these pentamers was performed by utilizing self‐assembly and physical dewetting during the evaporation of solvent.  相似文献

Multiporphyrinic assemblies were quantitatively formed, in one step, from a gable‐like zinc(II) bis‐porphyrin ZnP2 and free‐base porphyrins bearing pyridyl groups. The different fragments are held together by axial 4′‐N(pyridyl)–Zn interactions. Formation of a macrocycle ZnP2?(4′‐cisDPyP) and a bis‐macrocycle (ZnP2)2?(TPyP) is discussed. The macrocycle and the bis‐macrocycle were crystallized and studied by X‐ray diffraction, which confirmed the excellent complementarity between the various components. Spectrophotometric and spectrofluorimetric titrations and studies reveal high association constants for both multiporphyrinic assemblies due to the almost perfect geometrical match between the interacting units. As expected, energy transfer from the zinc porphyrin component to the free‐base porphyrin quenches the fluorescence of the zinc porphyrin components in both compounds. But while in ZnP2?(4′‐cis DPyP) sensitization of the emission of the free‐base porphyrin was observed, in (ZnP2)2?(TPyP) excitation of the peripheral Zn porphyrin units does not lead to quantitative sensitization of the luminescence of the free‐base porphyrin acceptor. An unusual HOMO–HOMO electron transfer reaction from ZnP2 to the excited TPyP unit was detected and studied.  相似文献

Oxidative polymerization of nickel(II) 5,15‐diphenyl porphyrin and nickel(II) 5,15‐bis(di‐3,5‐tert‐butylphenyl) porphyrin by oxidative chemical vapor deposition (oCVD) yields multiply fused porphyrin oligomers in thin film form. The oCVD technique enables one‐step formation, deposition, and p‐doping of conjugated poly(porphyrins) coatings without solvents or post‐treatments. The decisive reactions and side reactions during the oCVD process are shown by high‐resolution mass spectrometry. Owing to the highly conjugated structure of the fused tapes, the thin films exhibit an electrical conductivity of 3.6×10?2 S cm?1 and strong absorption in the visible to near‐infrared spectral region. The formation of smooth conjugated poly(porphyrins) coatings, even on sensitive substrates, is demonstrated by deposition and patterning on glass, silicon, and paper. Formation of conductive poly(porphyrins) thin films could enable the design of new optoelectronic devices using the oCVD approach.  相似文献

Spectroscopical properties and photocurrent (or photovoltage) of tetraphenyloporphyrins and metallotetraphenyloporphyrins in nematic liquid crystal have been studied. Photoelectric response has been measured in an electrochemical cell made of the semitransparent semiconducting and golden electrodes with porphyrin dyes embedded in liquid crystal. Fluorescence, time-resolved luminescence in microsecond time scale and photoacoustic spectra have also been measured. The competition between radiative, non-radiative processes and charge transfer is discussed. It has been shown that effectivity of porphyrins for photocurrent generation depends on the presence/absence of central metal in the macrocycle of porphyrin skeleton and the kind of metal. The schematic model of the contributions of the dye molecule and semiconducting electrode in the electron transfer process is shown.  相似文献

We have investigated the DNA binding interactions and in vitro photoactivated DNA damage induced by a neutral water soluble porphyrin derivative 5,10,15,20‐tetrakis(2,4,6‐trihydroxyphenyl)porphyrin (TTHPP) and its zinc derivative 5,10,15,20‐tetrakis(2,4,6‐trihydroxyphenyl)porphyrinato zinc(II) (Zn‐TTHPP) upon visible light irradiation through various spectroscopic techniques and employing repair endonucleases. These porphyrin derivatives exhibited high affinity toward DNA through groove binding interactions as evidenced through the UV–vis absorption, emission, circular dichroism spectral and viscosity changes. Interestingly, the free base porphyrin derivative, TTHPP generated efficient singlet oxygen mediated DNA damage sensitive to formamidopyrimidine‐DNA glycosylase (Fpg protein), when compared with its metal derivative and to the well‐known photosensitizer, hematoporphyrin. These results provide direct evidence for the role of DNA binding mode as well as extent of interactions with DNA in the efficiency of photoactivated DNA damage induced by the neutral porphyrins, which are believed to be the ideal candidates for photodynamic therapeutic applications.  相似文献

A new strategy is described and implemented for determining the rates of hole‐transfer between equivalent porphyrins in multiporphyrin architectures. The approach allows access to these rates between sites that are not the most easily oxidized components of the array. The specific architectures investigated with this new strategy are triads consisting of one zinc porphyrin (Zn) and two free base porphyrins (Fb). The triads employ a diphenylethyne linker ( ZnFbFbU ) and a phenylene linker ( ZnFbFbΦ ). The zinc porphyrin is selectively oxidized to produce Zn + FbFb, the free base porphyrins are excited to produce the excited‐state mixture Zn + Fb*Fb and Zn + FbFb*, and the subsequent dynamics are monitored by ultrafast absorption spectroscopy. The system evolves by a combination of energy‐ and hole‐transfer processes involving (adjacent and nonadjacent) zinc and free base porphyrin constituents that are complete within 100 ps of excitation; the rate constants of many of these processes are derived from prior studies of the oxidized forms of the benchmark dyads ( ZnFbU and ZnFbΦ ). One of the excited‐state decay channels produces the metastable state ZnFbFb + that decays to a second metastable state ZnFb + Fb by the target hole‐transfer process, followed by rapid hole transfer to produce the Zn + FbFb thermodynamic ground state of the system. The rate constant for hole transfer between the free base porphyrins in the oxidized ZnFbFb triads is found to be (0.5 ns)?1 and (0.6 ns)?1 across phenylene and diphenylethyne linkers, respectively. These rate constants are comparable to those recently measured, using a related but distinct strategy, for ground‐state hole transfer between zinc porphyrins in oxidized ZnZnFb triads. The two complementary strategies provide unique approaches for probing hole transfer between equivalent sites in multiporphyrin arrays, with the choice of method being guided by the particular target process and the ease of synthesis of the necessary architectures.  相似文献

Polynorbornenes appended with porphyrins containing a range of different linkers are synthesized. The use of bisamidic chiral alanine linkers between the pending porphyrins and the polymeric backbone has been shown to bring the adjacent porphyrin chromophores to more suitable orientation for exciton coupling owing to hydrogen bonding between the adjacent linkers. The hydrogen bonding between the adjacent pendants in these polymers may induce a cooperative effect and therefore render single‐handed helical structures for these polymers. Such a cooperative effect is reflected in the enhancement of FRET efficiencies between zinc–porphyrin and free base porphyrin in random copolymers.  相似文献
