Synthesis and antimicrobial activity of some new N‐(substituted phenyl)‐N′‐[2,3‐dihydro‐2‐oxido‐3‐(4′‐fluorophenyl)‐1H‐(1,3,2)benzoxazaphosphorin 2‐yl]ureas

Substituted benzoxazaphosphorin 2‐yl ureas were synthesized by reacting 2‐(4‐fluoro‐phenylamino)‐methylphenol (4) with different carbamidophosphoric acid dichlorides (3) in the presence of triethylamine in dry toluene at 45‐50 °C and characterized by spectral data. These compounds were found to possess good antimicrobial activity.     

Synthesis of new spiro‐[isothiochromene‐3,5′‐isoxazolidin]‐4(1H)‐ones

A series of seven new 2′,3′,4′‐substituted spiro[isothiochromene‐3,5′‐isoxazolidin]‐4(1H)‐ones ( 7‐13 ) has been prepared in the reaction of benzylidene(phenyl)azane oxide ( 5 ) or benzylidene(methyl)azane oxide ( 6 ) with (3Z)‐3‐(4‐substituted‐benzylidene)‐1H‐isothio‐ chromen‐4(3H)‐one ( 1‐4 ). The reaction occurs by a 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition mechanism that leads to the regiospecific formation of various spiroisoxazolidines ( 7‐13 ).     

Reactions of some pyrrole‐2,3‐diones with hydrazine hydrate and o‐phenylenediamine

2,3‐Dihydro‐1H‐pyrrole‐2,3‐diones 1a‐d react with hydrazine hydrate 2 and o‐phenylenediamine 4 under different conditions to yield the pyrazole‐3‐carboxamide derivatives 3a‐d , the pyrrol‐2‐ones 5a‐d and the quinoxaline‐2‐one derivatives 6a‐d , respectively. Hydrolysis of the quinoxaline‐2‐one derivatives 6a‐d gave a substituted furo[2,3‐b]quinoxaline 7 . The structures of the synthesized compounds were assigned on the basis of analytical results as well as spectroscopic data.     

Synthesis and antimalarial activity of 7‐benzylamino‐1‐isoquinolinamines

Computer modelling suggests that 7‐benzylamino‐1‐isoquinolinamines should mediate antimalarial effects by a mechanism distinct from that employed by existing antimalarial drugs. A series of these compounds was prepared in seven synthetic steps, via reductive amination of 1,7‐isoquinolinediamine. In vitro efficacy testing of the novel compounds against Plasmodium falciparum revealed them to be potent antimalarial agents.     

Synthesis of an 4‐oxo‐1,4‐dihydropyridinomethylidene substituted 2‐indolinone

The (Z)‐3‐substituted 2‐indolinone 6 was prepared using the aldehydes 4 and 8 unknown up to now and 2‐indolinone.     

One‐pot synthesis of new 3‐substituted coumarins by tandem reactions

The synthesis of new 3‐substituted coumarins appended to imidazolium, pyridinium, 3‐dimethylamino pyridinium, 3‐chloro pyridinium and 3‐bromo pyridinium salts is reported. These salts were prepared by tandem reactions, followed by quantitative anionic metathesis. The structure of these new 3‐substituted coumarins was established by NMR (¹H, ¹³C) and high‐resolution mass spectrometry.     

Microwave assisted synthesis of thiazolo[3,2‐b][1,2,4]‐triazoles containing 1,8‐naphthyridine moiety

A simple and efficient protocol for the synthesis of 5‐aryl‐2‐(2‐substituted‐1,8‐naphthyridin‐3‐yl)‐thiazolo[3,2‐b][1,2,4]triazoles ( 4 ) is achieved by cyclocondensation of 3‐(2‐substituted‐1,8‐naphthyridin‐3‐yl)‐1,2,4‐triazoles ( 3 ) with α‐halogenoketones in anhyd. methanol under microwave irradiation. The products are obtained in good yields and in a state of high purity.     

An interesting cyclization of N‐methyl‐3‐phenyl‐N‐(2‐(Z)‐phenylethenyl)‐cis‐oxiranecarboxamide

Under Lewis acid condition, N‐methyl‐3‐phenyl‐N‐(2‐(Z)‐phenylethenyl)‐cis‐oxiranecarboxamide undergoes elegant double cyclizations to give interesting products.     

Synthetic and spectroscopic studies of some new 2‐[1‐aryl‐4{4‐methoxyphenyl}‐6‐thioxo‐1,6‐dihydro‐1,3,5‐triazinyl]amino/hydrazonothiazolidin‐4‐ones

A series of 4‐thiazolidinones having triazinethione moieties have been synthesized by the systematic chemical modification of S‐benzylmercapto‐1‐aryl‐4‐(4‐methoxyphenyl)‐1,6‐dihydro‐1,3,5‐triazine‐6‐thione.
