New routes to steroidal heterocyclic derivatives: Synthesis of biologically active pyrazolyl‐ and isoxazolylpregnene derivatives

Pyrazolyl‐ and isoxazolylpregnene derivatives were synthesized from the appropriate hydrazonoyl chlorides and hydroximoyl chlorides with enaminoprogesterone derivative. The newly synthesized compounds were elucidated by elemental analysis, spectral data and chemical transformation. Some products were tested towards some bacteria and some Fungal‐plant pathogens     

Luminescent Terbium Protein Labels for Time‐Resolved Microscopy and Screening

Brilliance of terbium : Heterodimeric conjugates of trimethoprim covalently linked to sensitized terbium chelates bind to Escherichia coli dihydrofolate reductase fusion proteins with nanomolar affinity (see picture). Terbium luminescence enables sensitive and time‐resolved detection of labeled proteins in vitro and on the surface of living mammalian cells.

A Self‐Sorting Scheme Based on Tetra‐Urea Calix[4]arenes

Size and shape do matter : When dimerized in nonpolar solvents, an equimolar mixture of eleven tetra‐urea calix[4]arenes with different wide‐rim substituents self‐sorts into only six out of 35 different homo‐ and heterodimers (see picture). Since the calixarene scaffold and the four urea units are the same in all cases, the self‐sorting process is driven only by the cooperative action of steric requirements and stoichiometry.

Michael addition of dimedone with α,β‐unsaturated ketones: Synthesis of quinoline and chromene derivatives

A series of quinoline and chromene derivatives has been synthesized by Michael addition of dimedone 1 with 2‐aroyl‐3‐arylacrylonitrile 2 and study of absorption and fluorescence maxima of quinolines.     

Microwave induced efficient synthesis of (un)substituted benzaldehyde (5‐aryl‐1,3,4‐thiadiazol‐2‐yl)hydrazones using silica‐supported dichlorophosphate as a recoverable dehydrant

(Un)substituted benzaldehyde (5‐aryl‐1,3,4‐thiadiazol‐2‐yl)hydrazones were efficiently synthesized by reactions of (un)substituted benzaldehyde thiocarbohydrazones with aromatic carboxylic acids by using silica‐supported dichlorophosphate as a recoverable dehydrant under microwave irradiation. The protocol has advantages of short reaction time, high yield, easy work‐up procedure and no environmental pollution.
