The angular and the power characteristics of noncollinear acousto-optic tunable filters are investigated both experimentally and theoretically. The dependencies of the acoustic wave frequency, the bandpass width and the diffraction efficiency of the filter are studied as functions of the angle of incidence of the optical wave and of the acoustic signal power density. These dependencies are illustrated and tested on the basis of a realized such a filter based on tellurium dioxide (TeO2). A good agreement of theory and experiment is demonstrated, which indicates that the approach used can be effective in designing such devices.  相似文献

The spectral dependencies of the bandpass width, the spectral resolution and the diffraction efficiency of a non-collinear acousto-optic tunable filter of TeO2 are designed by the method proposed by Chang. The effect of four parameters (the directions of propagation of the acoustic and optic waves, the length of acousto-optic interaction and the power density of the controlling RF-signal) on the filter spectral characteristics is discussed and illustrated from the point of view of practical application. An example of filter design using these dependencies is presented.  相似文献

The acousto-optic interaction with leaky surface acoustic wave radiation into the bulk of YX-cut LiTaO3 crystals has been investigated. The light incidence and diffraction angles corresponding to the strongest acousto-optic interaction were calculated and measured as functions of the acoustic wave frequency. The dependencies of the diffracted light intensity on the amplitude of radio-frequency voltage applied to the interdigital transducer (IDT) were studied. Our acousto-optic measurements revealed generation, by the IDTs, of slow shear bulk acoustic waves propagating at different angles depending on their frequency. A secondary acousto-optic interaction from the bulk waves radiated by the receiving IDT has been studied.  相似文献

分析了La3Ga5SiO14(简称LGS)既可以做成同向声光可调谐滤波器,又可以做成大孔径非同向声光可调谐滤波器。推导出超声波频率f和光波波长λo的调谐关系;计算出滤波器的光谱分辨率R和集光能力δiθ;光入射角iθ与衍射角θd、声入射角θa之间的关系。为LGS声光可调滤波器的实用化设计提供了充分可靠的理论依据。把LGS与TeO2声光可调滤波器的光谱分辨率和集光能力做了比较,认为LGS设计成同向声光可调谐滤波器既简便又实用。  相似文献

An acousto-optic tunable filter that is insensitive to the polarization of incident light is studied both theoretically and experimentally. The fundamental possibility of designing an acousto-optic filter of nonpolarized light is demonstrated. The filter operates in the visible range of electromagnetic waves with λ=480–750 nm and provides a high spatial and temporal resolution. The number of resolvable spots of the filtered image reaches a value of 400×400 with the spectral bandwidth of the device being Δλ=1.7 nm. The results of the processing of optical images formed by arbitrarily polarized light beams are discussed. An acousto-optic filter based on a TeO2 crystal can be used in optics and spectroscopy in the processing of light beams with an arbitrary polarization, as well as in analyzing optical images formed by light beams whose polarization varies with time.  相似文献

The paper examines operation of a tunable acousto-optic filter applying a sectioned piezoelectric transducer. The analysis was carried out for a tellurium dioxide cell having 1.4-cm long transducer divided into 7 identical sections connected in series. Each section generated acoustic waves with a time delay relatively to adjacent sections. The time delay caused electric and acoustic phase shifts as well as inclination of a resulting acoustic wave front in the crystal. We showed that the inclination of the acoustic front influenced on shape of the filter transmission function causing asymmetry of side lobes. Investigation of the filter was carried out at the driving acoustic frequencies 100–240 MHz. The measurement proved that the electric phase shifts between the adjacent sections increased with the frequency up to 30°. Ratio of intensities of the first two side lobes in the transmission function was varying with the frequency from 0.9 to 0.5. Based on the carried out analysis, we discussed a prototype device using the acoustic beam steering effect. The device applied two sets of transducer sections that simultaneously generated two acoustic wave fronts tilted with respect to each other.  相似文献

应用单级偏振无关的准共线型声光可调谐滤波器为调谐元件,实现了环形腔掺铒光纤激光器的连续可调谐激光输出.简要阐述了与偏振无关的准共线型声光可调谐滤波器的工作原理,对其频移补偿原理进行了分析.实验研究得到:当抽运功率为13mW时,中心波长为1550nm的激光输出功率为322μW,阈值抽运功率在7.65mW左右,斜率效率约为6.02%;并获得了38nm带宽(1524.7—1562.4nm)的连续可调谐激光输出.  相似文献

The interference of optical transmission spectra of thin CuGaS2 single crystals is measured in E||c and E⊥c polarizations. The spectral dependencies of the refractive indexes no, ne and Δn = no − ne near the absorption edge have been determined from interference spectra. The intersection of refractive indexes at two wavelengths has been revealed at 300 K and 10 K. The characteristics of Band-Pass-Mode Filter and Band-Elimination-Mode Filter have been measured, which possess 7 narrow absorption (transmission) bands and represent a comb filter. We examine again the crosstalk level (Xtalk) and extinction ratio (Xratio) of an acousto-optic tunable filter (AOTF) operating with ultrashort light pulses (2 ps), now considering the loss effect. The compression factor was studied for the switched pulse with lossy AOTF (α dB = 4 dB/mm) considering five nonlinearity profiles. One can observe that there is always an optimum value for δ (final value of the nonlinearity) that one can obtain a switched pulse with the same time duration of the input pulse (C = 1). The compression factor for the switched pulse along the filter length shows that for the constant profile, the compression factor is around 1 all over the device. The study of the crosstalk level (Xtalk) of this device, considering the optimum values of δ obtained from the compression studies, as a function of the pump power (P 0) was done. The acousto-optic tunable filter (AOTF) has attracted great attention in recent years, in part because it appears to be a suitable basis for multi-wavelength optical cross-connects. It is probably the only known tunable filter that is capable of selecting several wavelengths simultaneously. This capability can be used to construct a multi-wavelength router.  相似文献

阐述了偏振依赖的共线型和偏振无关的准共线型声光可调谐滤波器的滤波原理,进而导出了两级滤波的转换特性表达式;通过理论计算说明了两级声光可调谐滤波器能够有效地抑制旁瓣;最后,将两个单级的声光可调谐滤波器级联成两级滤波器,进行了旁瓣抑制的实验.实验结果表明,旁瓣被抑制到-19 dB,并且3 dB带宽也得到一定程度的压窄. 关键词: 集成光学 声光可调谐滤波器 旁瓣抑制  相似文献

A ZnO thin-plating surface acoustical waveguide (SAWG) has a strong confinement, excellent filter characteristics and provides design flexibility and simple fabrication technique. It can suppress sidelobes effectively. These are very interesting in the design of acousto-optic tunable filter (AOTF). In this paper we present a numerical method for the design of ZnO film-loaded SAWG on X-cut Y-propagating LiNbO3. The result agrees with the experiment.  相似文献

The problem of controlling the characteristics of a calcium molybdate collinear acousto-optic filter using acoustic trains of variable duration is investigated experimentally. It is shown that electronic restructuring of not only the central transmission frequency but also the transmission bandwidth of the filter as well as the form of the transmission curve is possible in collinear acousto-optic filters. The frequency characteristics of the filter are measured by synchronous and inertial methods. The experimental relative-transmission curves and the experimentally measured side wings of the transmission bands of the acousto-optic cell are presented. Zh. Tekh. A double monochromator is developed and manufactured on the basis of an acousto-optic filter made of a potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP) single crystal. The device has an operating range of 260–540 nm and improved optical characteristics: high aperture ratio (an angular aperture of 2° and a linear aperture of 6.5x15 mm), high polarization contrast (~108), and low level of transmission sidelobes (~103). The spectral resolution of the monochromator at the edges of the operating range is 0.5 and 3 nm, respectively. The control frequency band is 60–150 MHz. Experimentally, it is shown that, for sound beams with equivalent geometric parameters, the diffraction efficiency provided by the KDP-based acousto-optic filter is an order of magnitude higher than that obtained with a noncollinear acousto-optic filter fabricated on the basis of crystalline quartz.  相似文献

The design of a noncollinear acousto-optic tunable filter (AOTF) is commonly based on parallel tangent momentum-matching condition. Previous studies have either moving parts or modulation. These approaches would obviously decrease the accuracy of an acousto-optic tunable filter (AOTF) since it will be influenced by vibration or by an extended measurement time. In this paper, we introduce a novel noncollinear acousto-optic tunable filter division-of-amplitude photopolarimeter (DOAP). It is completely characterized by a wavelength-dependent 4 × 4 matrix that can be determined directly by calibration. The instrument has neither moving parts nor modulation. Besides, this system can acquire the image, spectral and polarization information of an object simultaneously.  相似文献

介绍了非共线声光可调谐滤波器的构成及基本原理,计算了非共线声光可调谐滤波器衍射出的±1级衍射偏振光的偏转角,采用在光路中添加光楔的方法补偿非共线声光可调谐滤波器晶体色散引起的图像漂移.分析结果表明使用TeO_2材料设计的光楔在楔角为7.6°的时候可以控制图像漂移在一个像元以内,并在400~900 nm的工作波段范围内满足稳定成像的要求.  相似文献

We have developed a new Brewster-cut acousto-optic programmable gain control filter to optimize the spectral losses inside a regenerative cavity. This spectral amplitude control combined with an acousto-optic programmable dispersive filter for the spectral phase control optimizes, in a few steps of a direct algorithm, the performance of a 10-Hz CPA Ti:sapphire laser to 18-fs pulse duration, 1.2% RMS energy stability and 107 contrast ratio. The design and realisation of a SiO2 film-loaded Ti:LiNbO3 integrated acousto-optic tunable filter are presented. An optimised Hamming apodisation is achieved through introducing an angular offset between the acoustic and optical waveguides along with carefully placed acoustic absorbers. The realised device has a 20-mm acoustic interaction length and achieves a 3-dB linewidth of 1.8 nm with 19-dB sidelobe suppression. The realised device is highly efficient, requiring a RF drive power of only 10 mW to achieve complete polarisation conversion. The enhanced drive efficiency of the device is analysed using both acoustic and optical mode analysis. Based on this analysis, possible explanations for the improved behaviour are presented and directions that may lead to further enhancements are discussed. In this paper we present an accurate and efficient numerical method for a rigorous full-wave analysis of interdigital transducers (IDT) for the excitation of surface acoustic waves on the piezoelectric substrate of acousto-optical devices. The problem is formulated in terms of an integral equation that is solved by the method of moments. The transducer input admittance and the power coupling factors to both surface and bulk waves are computed. Numerical results for some configurations of X-Y LiNbO3 IDT for acousto-optic applications are in very good agreement with measured data. It is pointed out that bulk wave excitation may be a serious limitation in the design of efficient, wide band transducers for acousto-optical devices.  相似文献

Monochromators based on a noncollinear acousto-optic filter without external polarizers have been studied. As an element to select an operating diffracted light beam, (1) a spatial filter-telescope and (2) an output plane of a filter crystal rotated in a diffraction plane have been used. In the latter case, dispersion of the acousto-optic filter crystal is compensated using a correcting prism made from the same crystal and placed behind an output filter plane along a path of a filtered light beam. As a result, the transmission coefficient of the monochromator is increased upon an effective compensation of the angular drift of the filtered light beam, the monochromator design is simplified, and its sizes are decreased.
