Autorecycling oxidation of alcohol catalyzed by 1,3,7,9,11,12,14-heptazapentacene-2,4,8,10 (14H,3H,9H,12H)-tetraones (mixed flavins)

1,3,7,9,11,12,14-Heptazapentacene-2,4,8,10 (14$\text{H}$,3$\text{H}$,9$\text{H}$,12$\text{H}$)-tetraones (mixed flavins) were prepared by the cyclization of 1,5-dihydro-8-[N-alkyl-N-(5-nitrouracil-6-yl)-amino-5-deazaflavins with Vilsmeier reagent. The mixed flavins oxidized alcohol under neutral condition in sunlight and a remarkable autorecycling was observed.     

[2+2] Cycloaddition of benzyne to cis,trans- and cis,cis-1,5-cyclooctadiene

The relative rates of formation of $\text{cis}$ and $\text{trans}$ [2+2]cycloadducts of benzyne to $\text{cis}$, $\text{trans}$- and $\text{cis}$, $\text{cis}$-1,5-cyclooctadiene, $\text{trans}$- and $\text{cis}$-cyclooctene are discussed and properties of the adducts (e.g., their unusual hydrogenation) are described.     

Stereoselective synthesis of (1R,3R,5S-1,3-dimethyl-2,9-dioxabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane

(1$\text{R}$,3$\text{R}$,5$\text{S}$)-1,3-Dimethyl]-2,9-dioxabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane $\text{1}$ has been stereoselectively synthesized based on a highly stereoselective method for the synthesis of 1,3-$\text{syn}$-polyol.     

Electrophilic substitution at the δ-methine bridge of pheophorbide a and a′

A chloro-substituted derivative was prepared from chlorophyll $\text{a}$′. The derivative was shown to be δ-chloro-methyl pheophorbide $\text{a}$ by UV/VIS, MS and ′H NMR.     

Aromatic substitution and addition reactions of 1H-cyclobuta[de]naphthalenes

1$\text{H}$-Cyclobuta[$\text{de}$]naphthalenes undergo electrophilic substitutions at their C-4 and their C-5 positions; photolytic bromination of 1$\text{H}$-cyclobuta[$\text{de}$]naphthalene yields 1,2,3,4 tetrabromo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1$\text{H}$-cyclobuta[$\text{de}$]naphthalene.     

Boat-chair conformational preference of exo, exo-9-oxobicyclo[3.3.1]nonane-2,4-dicarboxylic acid

The ¹H and ¹³C nmr spectra of $\text{exo}$, $\text{exo}$-9-oxobicyclo[3.3.1]nonane-2,4-dicarboxylic acid, 3, in DMSO-d₆ or alkaline D₂O, clearly show that it exists in a $\text{boat}$-$\text{chair}$-conformation with $\text{equatorial}$ carboxyl groups, thus being the first case of $\text{boat}$-$\text{chair}$ preference of a bicyclo[3.3.1] nonan-9-one due to the presence of $\text{exo}$,$\text{exo}$-2,4- substituents.     

Stereocontrolled (E,Z and erythro, threo) synthesis of ⊙-hydroxyallylic sulphides

All four isomers of substituted 3-alkylthio-4-hydroxybutenes have been synthesised: both the geometry of the double bond and the relative stereochemistry of the two chiral centres are controlled.     

A stereocontrolled synthesis of Z and E terminal dienes from pinacol E-1-trimethylsilyl-1-propene-3-boronate

Pinacol $\text{E}$-1-trimethylsilyl-1-propene-3-boronate reacts with aldehydes to form (±)-($\text{R}$*,$\text{S}$*)-3-trimethylsilyl-4-hydroxy-1-alkenes, which can be deoxysilylated stereoselectively to either 98% $\text{Z}$ or 99% $\text{E}$ 1,3-dienes, including the separate components of the red bollworm moth pheromone.     

An improved synthesis of [2.2.3]cyclazines from 3H-pyrrolizines

[2.2.3]Cyclazines are obtained in moderate yields by reaction of 3$\text{H}$-pyrrolizines bearing conjugative substituents (Ph or CO₂Me) with vinamidinium salts in the presence of strong bases. Syntheses of the previously unknown 2-phenyl-3$\text{H}$-pyrrolizine and 1-methoxycarbonylcyclopenta [$\text{h}$] [2.2.4] cyclazine are also described.     

Stereospecific synthesis of Z- and E-1 alkoxy-1,3-butadienes

A stereospecific, highly efficient, generally applicable synthesis of $\text{Z}$- and $\text{E}$-1-alkoxy-1,3-butadienes involving dehydrative decarboxylations of 4,5-unsaturated-2-alkoxy-3-hydroxy-carboxylic acids is described.     

Useful synthetic reagents derived from 1-triisopropylsilylpropyne and 1,3bis-[triisopropylsilyl]propyne,direct, stereoselective synthesis of either Z or E enynes

Lithio reagents derived from 1-triisopropylsilylpropyne ($\text{1}$) and 1,3-$\text{bis}$-[triisopropylsilyl]propane ($\text{3}$) are effective for the synthesis of $\text{Z}$ or $\text{E}$ terminal enyne units (CHCHCCH) and for carboncarbon bond formation with halides, aldehydes, ketones, epoxides, and α,β-enones.     

Base-induced intramolecular cyclisation of N-(o-azidobenzoyl)-arylamines. A new synthesis of 2-aryl-1,2-dihydro-3H-indazolin-3-ones

In strong base, e.g., sodium hydride in dimethylformamide, $\text{N}$-($\text{o}$-azidobenzoyl)arylamines cyclise in high yield to 2-aryl-1,2-dihydro-3$\text{H}$-indazolin-3-ones.
