The thermal properties of cobalt(II) and copper(II) complexes of saccharin (sacc) (o-benzoic sulfimide) have been studied, and are compared with those of ternary complexes of cobalt(II) and copper(II) having both saccharin and pyridine as ligands. The thermal behaviour is discussed in terms of the bonds between the central ion and the ligands. The frequency shifts of the carbonyl and sulfonyl groups support the hypotheses derived from the thermal data. The thermal stability scale CO(II) /s> Cu(II) is always obtained while the stability constant scale is CO(II) < Cu(II).  相似文献

The thermal decomposition of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes has been studied using thermogravimetry (TG) and differential TG (DTG). The complexes have been characterized by IR spectroscopy. The results reveal that the decomposition of these complexes is accompanied by the formation of metal acetate as an intermediate fragments. On the basis of the applicability of a non-isothermal kinetic equations, it was demonstrated that the stability of the complexes follows the order Co(II)>Cu(II)>Ni(II). These stably correspond to the strength of chelation between the metal ions and the primary and secondary ligands. A possible mechanism of the thermal decomposition of the complexes is suggested.  相似文献

The thermal properties of the complexes of phthalic, isophthalic and terephthalic acid with cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) are determined by thermogravimetry (TG), differential thermogravimetry (DTG) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).The thermal stability of the anhydrous compounds gives, for the metal ions, a sequence Co > Ni > Cu.The thermal stability series as a function of the ligand for each metal is terephthalate > isophthalate > phthalate.  相似文献

Cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes of 2-thiophenecarbonyl hydrazone of 3-isatin (H2L1) and 2-furoic hydrazones of 3-isatin (H2L2) and 3-(N-methyl)isatin (HL3), with general composition [M(L)2] · nX, where X is ethanol or/and water, were synthesised and characterised. The molecular structure of HL3 showed that it crystallised in the keto form, which is also the more abundant tautomer for the three hydrazone ligands in solution. The three ligands behave as κ2-O,N donors in the cobalt(II) and zinc(II) complexes. The X-ray crystal structure of pseudotetrahedral [Zn(HL1)2] · 1.75MeOH confirmed the O,N coordination mode of the two monodeprotonated ligands in their keto forms. Secondary interactions of zinc ions with the O atoms of each isatin keto residue provoke a substantial distortion towards a square pyramidal form. The interaction of the isatin keto residues is stronger in the three nickel(II) complexes where the three acylhydrazones can be considered as κ3-O,N,O donors.  相似文献

The interaction of two symmetrically branched tris-cyclam derivatives based on 1,3,5-trimethylenebenzene and phloroglucinol cores with nickel(II), copper(II), zinc(II) and cadmium(II) is reported. All four metal ions yield solid complexes in which the metal : ligand ratio is 3 : 1. For both ligand types, spectrophotometric titrations confirm the formation of nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes of similar 3 : 1 stoichiometry in dimethyl sulfoxide. Visible spectral, electrochemical, magnetic moment, ESR and NMR studies have been performed to probe the nature of the respective complexes. Where appropriate, the results from the above metal-ion studies are compared with those from parallel investigations in which the corresponding (substituted) mono-cyclam analogues were employed as the ligands. A structural determination employing a poorly diffracting crystal of the trinuclear nickel(II) complex of the tris-cyclam ligand incorporating a 1,3,5-trimethylenebenzene core was successfully carried out with the aid of a synchrotron radiation source. A nickel ion occupies each cyclam ring in a square-planar coordination arrangement, with each cyclam ring adopting the stable trans-III configuration.  相似文献

The cobalt, nickel, copper and zinc atoms in bis(1,10-phenanthroline)bis(salicylato-O)metal(II) monomeric octahedral complexes [M(Hsal)2(phen)2nH2O, (M: Co(II), n=1; Cu(II), n=1.5 and Ni(II), Zn(II), n=2) are coordinated by the salicylato monoanion (Hsal) through the carboxyl oxygen in a monodentate fashion and by the 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) molecule through the two amine nitrogen atoms in a bidentate chelating manner. On the basis of the DTGmax, the thermal stability of the hydrated complexes follows order: Ni(II) (149°C)>Co(II) (134°C)>Zn(II) (132°C)>Cu(II) (68°C) in static air atmosphere. In the second stage, the pyrolysis of the anhydrous complexes takes place. The third stage of decomposition is associated with a strong exothermic oxidation process (DTA curves: 410, 453, 500 and 450°C for the Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes, respectively). The final decomposition products, namely CoO, NiO, CuO and ZnO, were identified by IR spectroscopy. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

The electrochemical behaviour at a platinum electrode in methylene chloride of zinc(II) and nickel(II) p-diethylaminodithiobenzoate complexes has been studied. For the zinc(II) complex the electroactive site of oxidation is the ligand and the tetrathian dication is produced. In contrast, for the nickel(II) complex the electroactive site is the metal and a stable nickel(IV) species is obtained.  相似文献

The thermal properties of the complexes of ortho-, meta- and para-amino- benzenemonocarboxylic acids with nickel(II), copper(II), and zinc(II) are determined by TG and DTA. The activation energy values for the first decomposition step of the anhydrous compounds are also calculated. The thermal data are then examined and correlated with the structure of the compounds.  相似文献

The coordination compounds obtained by reaction of hot solutions of dipicolinic acid with the carbonates of the divalent metal ions manganese(II), iron(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) are studied using TG, DSC and HTRS techniques. For the thermal stability a sequence Mn > Fe > Zn > Co > Ni > Cu may be observed. This series is compared with the similar series obtained with isocinchomeronic acid. The thermal stability is, for each metal of the series, isocinchomeronic > dipicolinic. Thermal stability is discussed in terms of the intermolecular bonds, of the structures and of the stability constants of the complexes examined.  相似文献

Some 1,1′‐(dicarbohydrazono) ferrocenes have been prepared by condensing 1,1′‐diacetylferrocene with either 2‐furoic hydrazide, 2‐thiophenecarboxylic hydrazide or 2‐salicylic hydrazide. All the ligands synthesized were characterized by IR and NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis data (carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen) and then were used as ligands to react with cobalt(II), copper(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II) metals as chlorides to afford metal complexes having the general formula M(L)Cl2. IR and electronic spectral data, magnetic moment and elemental analyses were used in the structural investigation of the metal complexes synthesized. The ligands synthesized and their metal(II) complexes have been screened for their in vitro antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi, Shigella dysenteriae, Bacillus cereus, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes bacterial strains and for in vitro antifungal activity against Trichophyton longifusus, Candida albicans, Aspergillus flavus, Microsporum canis, Fusarium solani and Candida glabrata. The results of these studies show the metal complexes to be more antibacterial and antifungal than the uncomplexed ligands. However, the potency of all the ligands synthesized and their metal complexes was lower than that of the standard drugs. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes of Schiff bases obtained by condensation of amoxicillin and cephalexin with salicylaldehyde/pyridoxal were prepared and characterized by microanalytical, thermogravimetric, magnetic and spectroscopic data. All the complexes were found to be six‐coordinate and containing two water molecules. The electron paramagnetic resonance spectral lines exhibited rhombic distortion from axial symmetry, with g|| > g? > ge, in the copper(II) complexes. The geometry of the zinc(II) complexes appears to be octahedral. All the compounds under investigation showed antibacterial activity. The antibacterial activity showed the following trend: copper(II) complexes > zinc(II) complexes > Schiff base ligands > parent drugs. The copper(II) complexes with the Schiff bases derived from cephalexin showed substantially enhanced activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa compared with the parent drug. All the copper complexes were also found to be active against kaolin paw oedema, whereas the parent drugs were inactive. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The complexes [M(HIm)4(H2O)2](sac)2 (M=Co, Ni) and [Cd(HIm)2(sac)2]2 with saccharin (sac) and imidazole (HIm) were synthesized and their thermal (TG, DTG and DTA) behaviour in the interval from room temperature up to 1000°C in a static air atmosphere was investigated. Irrespectively of whether the deprotonated saccharinato residues are present as ligands or ions or both as ligands and ions, the anhydrous complexes regularly decompose in two stages. The thermal data of 16 saccharinato complexes (including the title compounds) were correlated with the respective structural data. The general thermal stability order of the saccharinato complexes can be represented as: Pb(II)<Zn(II)<Co(II)Ni(II)<Cd(II) (the stability of the Cu saccharinates depends on the particular compound) and is dictated by several structural factors, e.g. metal ionic radii, participation of the water in the coordination sphere of the metal and other structural characteristics. Chiral Schiff base complexes containing azo-groups, bis(N-R-1-naphtylethyl-4-phenyldiazenylsalicydenaminato) nickel(II), copper(II), and zinc(II) complexes affording a distorted square planar trans-[MN2O2] coordination geometry were prepared newly. Organic/inorganic hybrid materials in polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) cast films of them (a containing type) or the analogous chiral Schiff base complexes, bis(N-R-1-phenylethyl-3,5-dichlorosalicydenaminato) nickel(II), copper(II), and zinc(II), and azobenzene (AZ) (a separated type) were assembled for comparison of polarized UV light induced molecular arrangement caused by Weigert effect. Investigation of parameters for optical anisotropy of metal complexes as well as AZ suggested that the degree of increasing optical anisotropy of the containing type is higher than that of the separated type based on π-π (of which characteristic band appeared around 380 nm), n, and d-d bands of polarized absorption electronic spectra. Rigid nickel(II) or zinc(II) complexes are easy to increase optical anisotropy than flexible copper(II) complexes for both types.  相似文献

Two new quadridentate Schiff base ligands formed from 2,5-hexanedione and S-alkyldithiocarbazic acids and their nickel(II), zinc(II) and cadmium(II) complexes having the general formula [M(SNNS)] (SNNS2− is the dinegatively charged ligands) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and magnetic and spectroscopic methods. The Ni(SNNS) complexes are diamagnetic and square-planar. The Zn(SNNS) complexes are assigned with polymeric structures with mercapto sulphur-bridging. The Cd(SNNS) complexes presumably have polymeric structures.  相似文献

Vibrational spectra of N,N′-ethylene-Bis(salicylaldiminaates) and N,N′-ethylene-Bis(acetylacetoniminates) of nickel (II), copper (II), and zinc (II) are studied experimentally (IR spectroscopy, 400–4000 cm−1) and theoretically (B3LYP), band assignment is given, and the distribution of potential energy of normal vibrations in internal coordinates is studied. Differences between vibrational spectra of the complexes are discussed. Thermodynamic functions of gas-phase complexes corresponding to temperatures of 298 and 800 K are calculated.  相似文献

A series of new coordination complexes of cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) with two new aroylhydrazones, 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde isonicotinoylhydrazone (H(2)L(1)) and 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde-2-thenoyl-hydrazone (H(2)L(2)) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, conductance measurements, magnetic susceptibility measurements, (1)H NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, electronic spectroscopy, EPR spectroscopy and thermal analysis. IR spectra suggests ligands acts as a tridentate dibasic donor coordinating through the deprotonated naphtholic oxygen atom, azomethine nitrogen atom and enolic oxygen atom. EPR and ligand field spectra suggests octahedral geometry for Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes and a square planar geometry for Cu(II) complexes.  相似文献

The synthesis of a new ligand 2-pyridine-2-yl-3(pyridine-2-carboxylideneamino)-quinazolin-4(3H)-one (PPCAQ) is described together with its manganese(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II), zinc(II) and cadmium(II) complexes. The single crystal X-ray diffraction studies of the ligand reveal the presence of two crystallographically independent molecules in asymmetric unit cell, which exhibit N…N attractive interaction. The PPCAQ and its metal complexes were characterized by analytical, spectroscopic (i.r., n.m.r and u.v.–vis), magnetic moment, conductance and thermal studies. The i.r. spectral studies reveal the ligational diversity of the PPCAQ towards different metal ions as NNN donor in cobalt(II), copper(II), zinc(II) and cadmium(II) complexes and as ONN donor in manganese(II) and nickel(II) complexes. The antimicrobial activity of all the compounds was tested; copper(II), zinc(II) and cadmium(II) complexes show enhanced antibacterial activity compared to the free ligand.  相似文献

Manganese and iron complexes of Schiff bases derived from 6-formylkhellin were prepared and characterized. Complexes of o-phenylenediamine derivative (ligand (I)) are monomeric or dimeric whereas those of p-phenylenediamine derivative (ligand (II)) are polymeric. The complexes obtained are characterized by a lower magnetic moment values. The complexes also have different solvent of crystallization with different nature of interaction. The thermal behaviour of the ligands and their metal complexes was investigated by means of DTA, TG, IR and X-ray diffraction spectroscopy. Ligand (I) shows different thermal behaviour from that of ligands (II) and (III). The complexes of ligand (II) give abnormal oxides as a final product during their thermal decomposition. The thermal properties of the Cu(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) complexes of iminodiacetic acid (H2IMDA) were determined using TG, DTG and DSC techniques. The complexes, of general formula, MIMDA-2H2O evolved water of hydration from 50 to 150°C which was followed by the decomposition of the anhydrous complex in the 250 to 400°C temperature range. The thermal stability, as determined by procedural decomposition temperatures, was: Ni(II) >Co(II) >Cu(II). The thermal stability is discussed in terms of IR spectra, ΔH, and ΔS, as well as thermal data.  相似文献

Abstract

Thermodynamic parameters have been determined by poten-tiometric techniques for complex ions formed by N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(2-hydroxyethyl)ethylenediamine TKED, with nickel (II), copper(II), and zinc(II) ions. The formation constants, enthalpy, and free energy data for the complexes exhibited values qualitatively consistent with predicted ligand field stabilization trends for these cations. The general expected stability of the complexes in the order Ni(II) < Cu(II) > Zn(II) is observed.  相似文献
