Kinetics of the oxidation of methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) and diethyl ketone (DEK) by N-bromoacetamide (NBA) have been studied in perchloric acid media in the presence of mercuric acetate. A zero order dependence to NBA and a first-order dependence to both ketones and H+ have been observed. Acetamide, mercuric acetate and sodium perchlorate additions have negligible effect while addition of acetic acid has a positive effect on the reaction rate. A solvent isotope effect (K0D2O/k0H2O = 2.–.4 and 2.2-2.5 for MEK and DEK, respectively) has been observed at 40°. Kinetic investigations have revealed that the order of reactivity is MEK > DEK. The rates were determined at four different temperatures and the activation parameters were evaluated. The main product of the oxidation is the corresponding 1,2-diketone. A suitable mechanism consistent with the above observations has been proposed.  相似文献

N-bromosuccinimide oxidation of cyclopentanone in acidic media in presence of mercuric acetate has been made. A zero order dependance to N-bromosuccinimide and a first order dependence to cyclopentanone and hydrogen ion concentration has been observed. Ionic strength, mercuric acetate and succinimide has negligible effect while methanol addition has a positive effect. Various rate parameters have been computed and 1,2-cyclopentanedione identified as the end product. A suitable mechanism in confirmity with the above observations has been proposed. With 2 Figures  相似文献

A systematic kinetic study on the oxidation of glycine by N-bromosuccinimide (NBS) in presence of mercuric acetate in acetic acid—water media has been made. Near first order dependence inNBS and glycine and near inverse first order dependence in hydrogen ion concentrations have been observed. A negligible ionic strength effect and a positive dielectric effect have been observed. Various rate parameters have been computed and hydrocyanic acid identified as the end product. On the basis of the kinetic data, a mechanism of the reaction has been proposed. With 3 Figures  相似文献

Oxidative kinetics of diethyl ketone in perchloric acid media in the presence of mercuric acetate have been studied by using N-bromosuccinimide (NBS) as oxidant in the temperature range of 25°-50°C. It has been found that the order with respect to NBS is zero while with respect to diethyl ketone and [H+], it is unity. Succinimide, sodium perchlorate, and mercuric acetate have an insignificant effect on the reaction rate, while the dielectric effect was negative. A solvent isotope effect (k0D2O/k0H2O = 1.6–1.8) at 35°C has been observed. On the basis of the available evidences a suitable mechanism consistent with the experimental results has been proposed in which it is suggested that the mechanistic route for NBS oxidation in an acidic medium is through the enol form of the ketone. The magnitude of the solvent effect also supports the mechanism. Various activation parameters have been calculated, and the 1,2-dicarbonyl compound has been identified as the end product of the reaction.  相似文献

Kinetics of oxidation of ethylene glycol and glycerol by acidic solution of N-bromoacetamide (NBA) in the presence of ruthenium (III) chloride as a homogeneous catalyst and mercuric acetate as scavenger in the temperature range of 30–50°C have been reported. The reactions follow identical kinetics, being zero-order in substrate and first-order in Ru(III). First order dependence of the reaction on NBA at its low concentrations tends to zero order in the higher concentration range. Positive effect of [H?] and [Cl?] has been observed. A negative effect of acetamide and ionic strength of the medium is observed while D2O and mercuric acetate show zero effect on the reaction velocity. Various activation parameters have been computed. The main product of the oxidation is corresponding acid. (H2OBr)+ has been postulated as the oxidizing species. A suitable mechanism in conformity with the kinetic data has been proposed.  相似文献

The adsorption isotherms of some monofunctional alcohols, ketones and esters from cyclohexane onto silica gel have been determined at 30`C and 10`C. The silica gel used bad a BET area of 417 m2/g and an average pore radius of 45A. The concentrations of free and associated hydroxyls on the silica gel were 1.4 and 4.1/100A^2 respectively. The adsorption order is cyclohexanol>n-octyl alcohol>cyclohexanone>methyl isobutyl ketone>n-propyl acetate=n-amyl acetate. The adsorption decreases with increasing temperature as normal. Except at very low concentrations, the isotherms can be represented by the Langmuir equation. The limiting adsorption, nms, on the silica gel does not accord with the stoichiometric ratio (1:1) between the free surface hydroxyl groups of the adsorbent and the adsorbate. In addition to surface conditions and the functional group of the adsorbate, it seems that the limiting adsorption is also controlled by the other factors, including temperature, solvent, and, sometimes the chain length of the adsorbate. The standard free energy (ΔG0) and standard enthalpy (ΔH0) of the adsorbates in adsorptien processes have been determined from the Langmuir parameters. The results indicate that the absolute value of ΔH0 is higher than that of ΔG0 (in other words, standard entropy ΔS0 is negative), as in the case of the adsorption of gases. Since there is practically no difference in ΔG0 or ΔH0 of adsorption between alcohols or esters, it is suggested that in dilute solution only the polar groups take part in adsorption, and the hydrocarben chains remain in solution during the adsorption process. For ketones, the absolute values of ΔG0 and ΔH0 are somewhat lower for methyl isobutyl ketone than that for cyclohexanone. A possible explanation is that in the adsorbed state the isobutyl chain of the methyl isobutyl ketone may somewhat close to the surface and thus decreases the adsorption and changes the ΔG0 and ΔH0.  相似文献

The effect of the polarity of the medium on the rate and direction of oxidation processes has been studied. It has been shown that the rate of oxidation of methyl ethyl ketone in aqueous solutions diminishes with increase in the water concentration. A considerably greater reduction in the rate of decomposition of the RO 2 . radical is observed than in the rate of the interaction of this radical with methyl ethyl ketone, which results in an increase in the selectivity of the oxidation process. When methyl ethyl ketone is diluted with water in the molar ratio C4H8O H2O=120, the quantity of acetic acid in the reaction products amounts to 98–99% of the methyl ethyl ketone consumed. The suggestion is made that the high selectivity of the oxidation of methyl ethyl ketone in aqueous solutions is due to the effect of the dielectric constant of the medium on the ratio between the two parallel reactions of the peroxide radical RO 2 . .  相似文献

Summary The extraction of iron as ferric chloride in 7 M hydrochloric acid by a mixture of (1+1) or (2+1) methyl isobutyl ketone and amyl acetate is quantitative for macro as well as for micro amounts of iron. The distribution ratio is very high ( 4000). With these mixtures no emulsification difficulties are encountered as they are with methyl isobutyl ketone alone. The behaviour of 44 elements in this extraction has been investigated.  相似文献

Mercury(II)-chloride reacts with anhydrous methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone and cyclohexanone in a precise stoichiometry ratio (1:2), and weakly ionized compounds of mercury with ketones are formed and equivalent quantity of HCl is released. The application of a mercury anode for the quantitative generation of H+ ions in 0.25 M sodium perchlorate in anhydrous methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone and cyclohexanone has been investigated. Current/potentials curves for the solvents, titrated bases, indicator and mercury showed that in these solvents mercury is oxidized at potentials much more negative than those for the titrated bases and other components present in the solution. The protons generated in this way have been used for the titration of some organic bases, with either visual or potentiometric end-point detection. The oxidation of mercury in methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone and cyclohexanone and the reaction of mercury ions with these solvents have been found to proceed with 100% current efficiency.  相似文献

The extraction characteristics of some selected metals from an aqueous buffered solution by LIX 622, a commercial oxime extractant have been studied. The pH1/2 values for extracting different metals with 5 v/v% LIX 622 extractant in methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) have been obtained. The order of extraction of metals with LIX 622 extractant as a function of pH1/2 value is determined and results agree well with the order obtained using salicylaldoxime as chelating ligand for the extraction of these metals.  相似文献

Different solvents including cyclohexane, dichloromethane, chloroform, toluene, 1-octanol, and methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) have been evaluated in extracting copper(II) from nitrate medium by salicylideneaniline. Extracted species differs from solvent to solvent: CuL2 in cyclohexane, toluene, 1-octanol, and methyl isobutyl ketone. However, in dichloromethane or chloroform, there are two complexes of the type CuL2 and CuL2(HL). The extraction constants and percentage of extraction (%E) are calculated for different solvents. Solvent played an important role in recovering copper(II) from the aqueous solution, thus affecting the extraction equilibrium and extraction efficiency. The nonpolar solvent showed better performance than the polar solvent. The maximum extraction efficiency was 85.75% at pH?=?4.5, which was from cyclohexane.  相似文献

Copolymers of methyl vinyl ketone (MVK) and methyl isopropenyl ketone (MIK) with methyl methacrylate (MMA), have been prepared covering the whole composition range. Reactivity ratios have been estimated as follows: MMA/MVK, rMMA = 0·63 ± 0·2, rMVK = 0·53 ± 0·2; MMA/MIK, rMMA = 0·98 ± 0·2, rMIK = 0·69 ± 0·2. Number average molecular weights have been measured during the course of photodegradation under 253·7 nm radiation in methyl acetate solution and rates of chain scission calculated. In each system the copolymers are less stable than the corresponding homopolymers, the rate passing through a maximum at 20–30% ketone content. These results have been discussed from a mechanistic point of view.  相似文献

The ultrasonic sound velocities and densities are measured for the binary mixtures of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) with ketones and branched alcohols at 303.15?K. The ketones include methyl ethyl ketone, methyl propyl ketone, diethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone and cyclohexanone. The branched alcohols include 2-propanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol, 3-methyl-1-butanol, 2-butanol and 2-methyl-2-propanol. The ultrasonic sound velocity data were used to compute isentropic compressibilities (k s). The deviations in the value of k s from ideal value were computed. Except cyclohexanone all the binary mixtures formed by NMP with ketones at 303.15?K exhibit negative deviation from ideal behaviour over the entire range of composition. Cyclohexanone with NMP exhibit positive deviation over the entire range of composition. An inversion in the sign of Δk s from positive to negative was observed for 2-propanol system and negative deviation was observed in four binary mixtures formed by NMP with other branched alcohols at 303.15?K. The ultrasonic sound velocities of these mixtures have been analysed is terms of Free Length Theory (FLT), Collision Factor Theory (CFT) and Nomoto's relation.  相似文献

The bromo complexes of platinum(IV), palladium(II), rhodium(III), and iridium(IV) were prepared and studies were made on their distribution between hydrobromic acid solutions and various common solvents. The solvents employed were n-tributyl phosphate (TBP), methyl isobutyl ketone, amyl acetate, and various TBP-benzene mixtures. Distribution coefficients as a function of HBr concentration are given for each metal for each solvent system. A careful study of the measured distribution coefficients clearly showed that a number of binary and ternary mixtures of the metals can be resolved with a Craig countercurrent distribution apparatus. Rh-Pt and Rh-Pd mixtures in 4.38M HBr solutions were quantitatively separated on a Io-stage Craig apparatus using a 90% TBP-10% benzene solvent. Rh-Ir mixtures in 4.38 M HBr were resolved by 3 consecutive batch extractions with 90% TBP-10% benzene. Mixtures of Pd, Rh, and Ir in 4.38 M HBr were resolved in 90 stages using methyl isobutyl ketone as the solvent. Pd, Rh and Ir were recovered in 97.0, 87.6 and 94.5% yields, respectively. Mixtures of Pd, Rh and Pt in 4.38 M HBr were resolved in 90 stages using amyl acetate and methyl isobutyl ketone as solvents. Pd, Rh and Pt were recovered in 90.0, 96.0 and 94.0% yields, respectively. Two computer programs for the IBM 1620 Computer are given ; these facilitate the comparison of theoretical and actual solute distributions.  相似文献

Abstract

The use of dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6 methyl isobutyl ketone solution in extraction and flamelessatomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) determination of germanium in lignite fly ashes have been studied.

Germanium is usually determined in lignites after the carbonaceous part of the sample has been burnt by a dry or wet ashing method. However, methods are described for direct determination of germanium.

In the present paper a wet ashing method is reported for the determination of germanium in lignite fly ashes by flameless AAS after extraction into dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6 methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) solution. Solvent extraction is a known hydrometallurgical method that could be applied in germanium recovery.  相似文献

The rates of extraction of Zn(II) from hydrobromic acid solutions into benzene solutions of the liquid anion exchanger Amberlite LA-2 and those into methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) have been investigated. The distribution equilibria of this system have been also studied. Under the used experimental conditions the extracted species of Zn(II) have been proposed. The kinetic data indicated a first order reaction with respect to Zn(II) in both systems, nearly one with respect to HBr and from 0–0.38 for LA-2. In case of extraction of Zn(II) with methyl isobutyl ketone, MIBK, the reaction order with respect to MIBK was found to be 4 and with respect to HBr inverse first order. The rate constants of these extraction processes were determined and the rate determining steps were discussed in the light of the obtained results.  相似文献

Kinetic investigations on Ru(III)‐catalyzed oxidation of cyclopentanol and cyclohexanol by acidic solution of N‐bromoacetamide (NBA) in the presence of mercury(II) acetate as a scavenger have been carried out in the temperature range of 30–45°C. Similar kinetics was followed by both the cyclic alcohols. First‐order kinetics in the lower concentration range of NBA was observed to tend to zero order at its higher concentrations. The reaction exhibits a zero‐order rate dependence with respect to each cyclic alcohol, while it is first order in RuIII. Increase in [H+] and [Cl?] showed positive effect, while successive addition of acetamide exhibited negative effect on the reaction rate. Insignificant effect of sodium perchlorate, D2O, and mercury(II) acetate on the reaction velocity was observed. Cationic bromine has been proposed as the real oxidizing species. Various thermodynamic parameters have been computed. A suitable mechanism in agreement with the kinetic observations has been proposed. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Whole air sampling using containers such as flexible bags or rigid canisters is commonly used to collect samples of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in air. The objective of this study was to compare the stability of polyester aluminum (PEA) and polyvinyl fluoride (PVF, brand name Tedlar®) bags for gaseous VOC sampling. Eight VOC standards (benzene, toluene, p-xylene, styrene, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone, butyl acetate, and isobutyl alcohol) were placed into each bag at storage times of 0, 2, and 3 days prior to analyses by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). From each bag representing each storage day, samples of 3 different mass loadings were withdrawn and analyzed to derive response factors (RF) of each chemical between the slope of the GC response (y-axis) vs. loaded mass (x-axis). The relative recoveries (RR) of VOC, if derived by dividing RF value of a given storage day by that of 0 day, varied by time, bag type, and VOC type. If the RR values after three days are compared, those of methyl isobutyl ketone were the highest with 96 (PVF) and 99% (PEA); however, the results of isobutyl alcohol were highly contrasting between the two bags with 31 and 94%, respectively. Differences in RR values between the two bag types increased with storage time, such that RR of PEA bags (88 ± 10%) were superior to those of PVF bags (73 ± 22%) after three days, demonstrating that VOC in PEA bags were more stable than in PVF bags.  相似文献

Kinetic investigations of oxidation of dextrose by N-bromophthalimide (NBP) in acidic medium in the presence of mercuric(II) acetate as a scavenger have been studied. In both the absence and presence of surfactants, the oxidation kinetics of dextrose by NBP shows a first-order dependence on NBP, fractional order on dextrose, and negative fractional order dependence on sulfuric acid. The determined stoichiometric ratio was 1:1 (dextrose:NBP). The variation of Hg(OAC)2 and phthalimide (reaction product) have an insignificant effect on reaction rate. Effects of surfactants, added acrylonitrile, added salts, and solvent composition variation have been studied. Activation parameters for the reaction have been evaluated from Arrhenius plot by studying the reaction at different temperature. The rate law has been derived on the basis of obtained data. A plausible mechanism has been proposed from the results of kinetic studies, reaction stoichiometry and product analysis. The role of anionic and non-ionic micelle was best explained by the Berezin’s model.  相似文献

Summary A method has been developed for the simultaneous formation and solvent extraction of cobalt (II), copper (II), iron (II) and vanadium (IV) complexes of bis (acetylpivalylmethane)ethylenediamine (H2APM2en) in methyl isobutyl ketone. The complexes are eluted from a reversed phase HPLC column with a mixture of methanol:water:acetonitrile and detection was at 260 nm. The method has been applied to the simultaneous determination of cobalt, copper, iron and vanadium in crude petroleum oils at the ng level.  相似文献
