Norm inequalities for fractional powers of positive operators   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
It is shown that ifA, B andX are operators on a Hilbert space such thatA andB are positive andX belongs to a norm ideal associated with some unitarily invariant norm |·|, then for 0 r 1 we have |A r XB r | |X|1-r |AXB| r . This is an extension of the classical Heinz-Kato inequality which was originally proved for the usual operator norm. Other related inequalities are also discussed.  相似文献

The Hubbard model describes a lattice system of quantum particles with local (on-site) interactions. Its free energy is analytic when t is small, or t 2/U is small; here, is the inverse temperature, U the on-site repulsion, and t the hopping coefficient. For more general models with Hamiltonian H=V+T where V involves local terms only, the free energy is analytic when T is small, irrespective of V. There exists a unique Gibbs state showing exponential decay of spatial correlations. These properties are rigorously established in this paper.  相似文献

Finite-size rounding of the magnetization discontinuity at the magnetic phase transition atH=0 (T<T c ) in 2d Ising-type strips of sizeL ×L , with ± boundary conditions alongL inducing an interface of lengthL , is studied by phenomenological considerations and transfer matrix techniques. Scaling expressions are derived forL =O(L ) and also in the infinite strip limitL . Most of the results can be extended to the 3d case.  相似文献

Various thermal equilibrium and nonequilibrium phase transitions exist where the correlation lengths in different lattice directions diverge with different exponentsv ,v : uniaxial Lifshitz points, the Kawasaki spin exchange model driven by an electric field, etc. An extension of finite-size scaling concepts to such anisotropic situations is proposed, including a discussion of (generalized) rectangular geometries, with linear dimensionL in the special direction and linear dimensionsL in all other directions. The related shape effects forL L but isotropic critical points are also discussed. Particular attention is paid to the case where the generalized hyperscaling relationv +(d–1)v =+2 does not hold. As a test of these ideas, a Monte Carlo simulation study for shape effects at isotropic critical point in the two-dimensional Ising model is presented, considering subsystems of a 1024x1024 square lattice at criticality.Visiting Supercomputer Senior Scientist at Rutgers University.  相似文献

The notion of tensor product of a family (A i ) i I of Banach algebras is generalized to the case whenI is a topological space; in this case A i is generated by some elements x i , the family (x i ) being subjected to certain conditions: for instance the functioni x i must be continuous. A quantum spin system is discussed where a heat flow between infinite reservoirs takes place in a finite region. A time-dependent force may also be acting. Our analysis is based on a simple technical assumption concerning the time evolution of infinite quantum spin systems. This assumption, physically natural but currently proved for few specific systems only, says that quantum information diffuses in space-time in such a way that the time integral of the commutator of local observables converges: 0 dt [B, t A]<. In this setup one can define a natural nonequilibrium state. In the time-independent case, this nonequilibrium state retains some of the analyticity which characterizes KMS equilibrium states. A linear response formula is also obtained which remains true far from equilibrium. The formalism presented here does not cover situations where (for time-independent forces) the time-translation invariance and uniqueness of the natural nonequilibrium state are broken.  相似文献

The central limit theorem of Cushen and Hudson is reformulated on the algebra of the CCR. Namely, for a gauge invariant state , the weighted convolutions n of the central limit tend to the quasi-free reduction Q of pointwise. It is proved that if the initial relative entropy S(, Q ) is finite, then S( n , Q ) goes to 0 and so n Q 0. No restriction on the dimension of the test function space is made.  相似文献

Semi-infinite systems are considered with long-range surface fields B z –(1+r) for large distancesz from the surface. The influence of such fields on the global phase diagram and on the critical singularities of depinning transitions is studied within Landau theory. For |B|0, the correlation length diverges as b –1/2 withb=|Bln|B–(1+r). For finiteB, t v withv =(2+r)/(2+2r) wheret measures the distance from bulk coexistence. In the latter case, a Ginzburg criterion leads to the upper critical dimensiond *=(2+3r)/(2+r).  相似文献

For automorphism groups of operator algebras we show how properties of the difference t – ' t are reflected in relations between the generators , . Indeed for a von Neumann algebraM with separable predual we show that if t – 't 0.28 for smallt, then = 0(+)°-1 where is an inner automorphism ofM and is a bounded derivation ofM. In the Yang-Mills formulation of gravitational dynamics based uponSL(2,C) spin transformations acting on Dirac spinors, the vacuum field equations are R +C R = 0 and and . The general kinetic characteristics of copper fracture in the presence of surface-active bismuth-lead baths during creep and elongation under tension are explained. It is shown that the subcritical stage of crack development controls the process, whereupon the effects of stresses , temperature, strain rate , surface energy at the copper-bath interface SL, and surface energy at the grain boundaries b on the rate of crack development l/ are analyzed. The basic conclusions are that: a)l/=(–) ( and being constants here); b) the crack development activating energy ) the reduction of energy b, achieved by intergranular internal adsorption of 0.5% antimony, lowers the value of about 50 times; d) a 30% increase in surface energy SL reduces the cracking rate 30 times, according to the relation (where A=6 · 10–15 cm2); and e) .Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 5, pp. 7–15, May, 1976.  相似文献

We prove that the relative entropy is decreasing under a trace-preserving expectation inB(K 1), and we show the connection between this theorem and the strong subadditivity of the entropy. We show that such a representation exists if and only if 1. Moreover, for <1 these representations are unitarily equivalent to the Fock representation (obtained for =0). On the other hand representations obtained for different unit vectors are disjoint. We show that the universal C*-algebra for the relations has a largest proper, closed, two-sided ideal. The quotient by this ideal is a naturalq-analogue of the Cuntz algebra (obtained forq=0). We discuss the conjecture that, ford<, this analogue should, in fact, be equal to the Cuntz algebra itself. We develop a gauge theory of gravity on the basis of the principal fiber bundle over the four-dimensional space-timeM with the covering group 0 of the proper orthochronous Poincaré group. The field components are constructed with the connection coefficients , and with a Higgs-type field. A Lorentz metricg is introduced with , which are then identified with the components of duals of the Vierbein fields. Associated with there is a spinor structure onM. For Lagrangian densityL, which is a function of , ,, matter field , and oftheir first derivatives, we give the conditions imposed by the requirement of the gauge invariance. The Lagrangian densityL is restricted to be of the formL =L tot (, T klm ,R klmn , k , ), in whichT klm ,R klmn are the field strengths of , , respectively. Identities and conservation laws following from the gauge invariance are given. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that the energy momentum conservation law follows from theinternal translational invariance. The field equation of is automatically satisfied, if those of and of are both satisfied. The possible existence of matter fields with intrinsic energy momentum is pointed out. When is a field with vanishing intrinsic energy momentum, the present theory practically agrees with the conventional Poincaré gauge theory of gravity, except for the seemingly trivial terms in the expression of the spin-angular momentum density. A condition leading to a Riemann-Cartan space-time is given. The field holds a key position in the formulation.  相似文献
