In many situations time series models obtained from noise-like data settle to trivial solutions under iteration. This Letter proposes a way of producing a synthetic (dummy) input, that is included to prevent the model from settling down to a trivial solution, while maintaining features of the original signal. We firstly propose the interesting results of a dark soliton pulse propagating within the nonlinear micro and nano waveguides. The system consists of nonlinear micro and nano ring resonators, whereas the dark soliton is input into the system and traveling within the waveguide. A continuous dark soliton pulse is chopped to be the smaller pulses by the nonlinear effects known as chaos. The nonlinear behaviors such as chaos, bistability and bifurcation are analyzed and discussed. In recent years, unconventional metamaterial properties have triggered a revolution of electromagnetic research which has unveiled novel scenarios of wave‐matter interaction. A very small dielectric permittivity is a leading example of such unusual features, since it produces an exotic static‐like regime where the electromagnetic field is spatially slowly‐varying over a physically large region. The so‐called epsilon‐near‐zero metamaterials thus offer an ideal platform where to manipulate the inner details of the “stretched” field. Here we theoretically prove that a standard nonlinearity is able to operate such a manipulation to the point that even a thin slab produces a dramatic nonlinear pulse transformation, if the dielectric permittivity is very small within the field bandwidth. The predicted non‐resonant releasing of full nonlinear coupling produced by the epsilon‐near‐zero condition does not resort to any field enhancement mechanism and opens novel routes to exploiting matter nonlinearity for steering the radiation by means of ultra‐compact structures.
We have investigated the switching performance of a gained (nonlinear directional coupler) NLDC switch in the presence of
both 2nd and 4th order gain nonlinearities. In this system, we have achieved a nearly complete pulse switching at half beat
length of the coupler which implies about 40% reduction in the switching length as compared to the switching length reported
in Trillo et al. (1988). We have shown that at the half beat length the output energy of each branch is equal to that of the
input energy and hence the gained NLDC switches have ability to be cascaded. Our initial investigations reveal that this gained
NLDC switch has remarkable performance and potential to be used in ultra-fast optical communication systems. 相似文献
Silicon nanostructures are dispersed into an organic solvent and the third order optical properties of the system are studied by z-scan technique under 1064 nm and 532 nm excitations. The experiment results show that the silicon nanostructures exhibit self-focus and saturable absorption with both excitation wavelengths. Nonlinear absorption results suggest that a new optical bleaching band exists under 532 nm excitation, and a two-step mechanism is tentatively put forward to explain the saturable absorption under 1064 nm excitation. 相似文献

The nonlinear optical response of three new organometallic compounds was studied by z-scan method under picosecond excitation at 1064 and 532 nm. The compounds showed self-focus effect at both wavelengths, and effective reverse saturation absorption at 532 nm and strong two-photon absorption at 1064 nm occurred. Through calculating and comparing the nonlinear optical indexes of the compounds, we found that the third-order nonlinear susceptibility was enhanced by two-fold for one photon transition resonant effect, and incorporating different heavy metal atoms in the delocalized organic system slightly influenced the nonlinear optical indexes. 相似文献
The nonlinear responses and optical limiting performance of a dye type acid, called fast green FCF, are investigated under irradiation of 35 mW continuous wave He-Ne Laser. The second order refractive index and nonlinear absorption coefficient are measured by use of z-Scan technique. The optical limiting behavior is investigated by transmission measurement through the sample.
