The anisotropic characteristics of an iron silicide (Fe3Si) epitaxial thin magnetic film grown on a Si(111) silicon vicinal surface with a misorientation angle of 0.14° have been measured by the ferromagnetic resonance method. It has been shown that the polar and azimuth misorientation angles of the crystallographic plane of the substrate can be determined simultaneously from the angular dependences of the ferromagnetic resonance field of the epitaxial film. The effective saturation magnetization of the film M eff = 1105 G and the constant of the cubic magnetocrystalline anisotropy K 4 = 1.15 × 105 erg/cm3 have been determined. The misorientation of the substrate plane leads to the formation of steps on the film surface and, as a result, to the appearance of uniaxial magnetic anisotropy of the magnetic dipole nature with the constant K 2 = 796 erg/cm3. Small unidirectional magnetic anisotropy (K 1 = 163 erg/cm3), which may be associated with symmetry breaking on the steps of the film and is due to the Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction, has been detected.  相似文献

The second optical harmonic generation and magnetooptical Kerr effect are investigated for the light (λ=800 nm) reflected by ferromagnet-semiconductor heterostructures CaF2/MnAs/Si(111). The observed change in the second-harmonic intensity is odd in magnetization. A phenomenological analysis of possible contributions to the second harmonic is carried out, and the sources of optically nonlinear signals are determined from the experimental azimuthal dependences of the light intensity at double frequency. The difference in the field dependences of the second harmonic and the magnetooptical Kerr effect is observed.  相似文献

Properties of phase transitions in a magnetic field H parallel to the easy axis have been investigated, and it has been shown, in particular, that the nature of the transition of the magnetic subsystem from the antiferromagnetic phase to the angular phase depends on the “sign” of the Dzyaloshinskii interaction. The conditions for orientation of the antiferromagnetism vector l in the basis plane in fields larger than the threshold field have been determined. It is shown that the transition from the angular phase to the state where the resulting magnetic moment m is parallel to the easy axis takes place in the field corresponding to a spin-flip transition. From an analysis of the configuration of the magnetic subsystem for arbitrary orientation of the external magnetic field, it follows that the values of the critical angle (ψ cr ) for which a first-order phase transition takes place satisfy the condition in the case in which the anisotropy constant f in the basis plane is of the order of the first anisotropy constant b. Usually so that the tricritical point in the phase diagram H y ,H z satisfies the condition H y H z . Fiz. Tverd. Tela (St. Petersburg) 41, 2044–2046 (November 1999)  相似文献

An effect of nonpolarized white light on the modulated magnetic structure of a FeBO3:Mg single crystal, which arises in this light-plane weak ferromagnet in the low temperature range during technical magnetization, has been revealed. It has been found that the degree of the light action on the magnetic state of FeBO3:Mg depends both on its duration and on the orientation of the spontaneous magnetization vector M of the crystal during illumination. Interpretation of the results obtained has been performed in the context of the “magnetic ripple” theory on the assumption that the absorbed light induces additional uniaxial magnetic anisotropy in the easy plane of the crystal and that the anisotropy axis is collinear to the vector M during illumination.  相似文献

The specific heat of a V3Si single crystal (T c=17 K, H c2=20 T) in magnetic fields up to 8 T isinvestigated experimentally for three orientations of the field relative to the crystallographic directions — H∥〈001〉, H∥〈110〉, and H∥〈111〉. Both the upper critical magnetic field and the specific heat of the mixed state are observed to depend on the orientation of the magnetic field relative to the crystallographic directions (anisotropy): The critical field reaches its maximum value and the specific heat its minimum value in a field along the 〈001〉 direction. The anisotropy scale in both phenomena increases as the magnetic field and reaches 3% in a 6 T field. The interrelationship of the upper critical field anisotropy and the specific-heat anisotropy in type-II superconductors is studied. It is shown that the anisotropy of the specific heat in the mixed state in weak fields can serve as a criterion for nontrivial pairing. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor. Precise temperature and polarization dependences of Raman spectra have been investigated for fully oxygenated twin-free YBa2Cu3O7 single crystals. We have found a striking superconductivity-induced xy anisotropy in the temperature behavior of the 340 cm−1 line: the magnitudes of the softening and broadening are quite different in the xx-and yy-polarizations. This anisotropy suggests a contribution of the CuO-chain superconductivity with a pairing symmetry different from that for the CuO2 plane, or indicates that the superconducting gap amplitudes are different in the k x and k y directions. The d+s gap symmetry is the only realistic symmetry in the case of Δx≠Δy. Fiz. Tverd. Tela (St. Petersburg) 40, 403–412 (March 1998) Published in English in the original Russian journal. Temperature and field dependences of the magnetization of VBO3 and CrBO3 single crystals with the magnetic field applied parallel and perpendicular to the (111) basal plane were measured. VBO3 was found to have a considerable uniaxial anisotropy with a field Ha≈6.25 T. CrBO3 was shown to exhibit not only uniaxial but also hexagonal anisotropy. The experimental anisotropy constants were estimated, and their temperature dependences are presented.  相似文献

We study phase transitions induced by a static magnetic field in magnetically uniaxial films with a small positive anisotropy constant. The phase diagram of these objects is determined in the H -H plane, where H and H are, respectively, the components of the magnetizing field along and perpendicular to the surface normal. The stability boundary is located for all of the main types of domain configurations observed: a simple stripe domain structure, a stripe domain structure with periodic bending by surface distortions in the profile of the domain walls, and hexagonal lattices of cylindrical magnetic bubbles. The relative intensities of vibronic splitting components of the3A2g1T2g optical electronic dipole transition induced by odd local vibrations and spin-orbit interaction are calculated for an impurity center with O h point-group symmetry. The polarization dependences and magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) are found for the vibronic components in an external magnetic field. In contrast with the previous works, the calculation is not confined to the nearest-term approximation. It is shown that measurements of the polarization dependences and MCD allow one to identify unambiguously the vibronic components. A comparison with the experiment is carried out for theNi 2+ ion in CaO. A. M. Gor'kii Ural State University. The drift of stripe-domain walls in a (111) ferrite-garnet plate with orthorhombic anisotropy and quality factor Q < 1 in an alternating magnetic field of 30–1000 Hz was investigated. The obtained experimental dependences of the domain wall drift velocity on the magnetic field frequency and amplitude are compared to the corresponding theoretical dependences.  相似文献

The orientational dependence for different groups of secondary electrons — quasi-elastically scattered, inelastically reflected with excitation of a plasmon and with ionization of the core level M 4.5, and the Auger electrons M 4.5 VV — are measured in the primary electron energy range 0.6–1.5 keV. The data are obtained for a Nb (100) single crystal by varying the azimuthal angle of incidence of the primary beam, with complete collection of secondaries. A relationship is established between the processes of focusing and defocusing of the electrons that have penetrated into the crystal in the 〈110〉 and 〈133〉 directions, which differ substantially in the atomic packing density. Specific details of the Auger orientation effect, due to the focusinginduced variation of the flux density of the reflected electrons, are identified and explained. The contributions, both of anisotropy of ionization of the core level and of variation of the backscattering intensity, to the angular dependence of Auger emission and reflection with ionization loss are estimated. The possibilities of using such orientational dependences for an element-sensitive analysis of the local atomic structure of surfaces are assessed. Zh. Tekh. Fiz. 67, 117–123 (August 1997)  相似文献

The colossal (more than threefold) decrease in the dielectric constant ɛ in the easy-plane SmFe3(BO3)4 ferroborate in a magnetic field of ∼5 kOe applied in the basal ab plane of the crystal has been found. A close relation of this effect to anomalies in the field dependence of the electric polarization has been established. It has been shown that this magnetodielectric effect is due to the contribution to ɛ from the electric susceptibility, which is related to the rotation of spins in the ab plane, arises in the region of the antiferromagnetic ordering T < T N = 33 K, and is suppressed by the magnetic field. A theoretical model describing the main features of the behavior of ɛ and electric polarization in the magnetic field has been proposed, taking into account the additional anisotropy in the basal plane induced by the magnetoelastic stresses.  相似文献

Circular dichroism, which changes sign under magnetization reversal and exhibits a 120° periodicity, is observed in the reflection of light from the (111) plane of a noncentrosymmetric LiFe5O8 crystal in the transverse geometry kM, where the linear Kerr effect is forbidden. It is shown that this phenomenon is due to the manifestation of optical magnetoelectric susceptibility and a Kerr effect of third order in the magnetization. The spectral dependences of the circular dichroism in the range 1.4–3.1 eV show that this phenomenon is of a resonance character. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor. Within a wide temperature range of 1.8–300 K, the Hall effect in holmium dodecaboride is investigated. The measurements of the angular dependences of the Hall resistance ρH(φ, T, H) for HoB12 performed in a high magnetic field up to 80 kOe at helium and intermediate temperatures made it possible to separate the normal and anomalous contributions to the Hall effect. Analysis of the anomalous component behavior in the paramagnetic and Néel phases suggests the appearance of the 5d-state magnetic polarization (the spin polaron effect) and makes it possible to compare the revealed features of the Hall coefficient R H(T, H) with the H-T magnetic phase diagram of HoB12. The possibility of resonance during elastic intravalley scattering in n-type semiconductors is investigated in connection with the crossing (due to anisotropy of the effective mass) of the energy levels of excited states of a shallow donor as functions of the magnetic field. The hybridization of states of different frequencies in the vicinity of a crossing is attributed to the emergence of a nonzero dipole moment of the excited impurity atom and, accordingly, a long-range potential, which creates carrier-transport anomalies. The lower part of the donor spectrum is calculated as a function of the magnetic field in Si with B∥〈001〉 and in Ge with B∥〈111〉 or B∥〈110〉. A crossing occurs in Ge in the field range 9.9 T<B<16.7 T and in Si in the field range 10.5 T<B<37.7 T. The characteristic longitudinal relaxation time and the transverse conductivity, which are determined by scattering at excited donors in the presence of the hybridization of states, are calculated. The angular dependences of the ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) field in (111)-oriented films are analyzed with the use of resonance relations and the conditions for equilibrium orientation of the magnetization. Based on the results obtained, an FMR method is proposed for determining the sign of the cubic anisotropy and the position of the crystallographic axes. Zh. Tekh. A theoretical study of the magnetic susceptibility of multilayered carbon nanotubes in fields both parallel, H , and perpendicular, H , to the tube axis has been carried out disregarding electron-electron interaction. The temperature dependences of the magnetic susceptibility obtained exhibit a nontrivial form for H , which is related to the quasi-one-dimensionality of such a system as the nanotube. The dependences of the magnetic susceptibility on chemical potential χ(μ) have also been derived. At low temperatures, χ(μ) has sharp peaks in fields H , which is connected with the presence of singularities in the density of states of nanotubes. The effect of interlayer coupling on magnetic susceptibility of small-radius tubes has been investigated numerically. Fiz. Tverd. Tela (St. Petersburg) 40, 1950–1954 (October 1998)  相似文献

A study is reported of the anisotropy in magnetic-field-induced linear polarization in (001) CdTe/Cd1−x MnxTe quantum wells. The observed limiting anisotropy is shown to be due to the low C 2v symmetry of the quantum well. The relations obtained for the C 2v point group are in a good agreement with experiment. Considered on the microscopic scale, the effect is associated with the heavy-hole g-factor anisotropy in the well plane. Fiz. Tverd. Tela (St. Petersburg) 41, 903–906 (May 1999)  相似文献

The behavior of a straight Abrikosov vortex in an anisotropic uniaxial London superconductor is studied. Analytical expressions are derived that approximately describe the magnetic field in three regions: the asymptotic region, where the distance r from the vortex line is greater than λΓ (λ is the London length and Γ is the anisotropy constant), the intermediate region λ<r<λΓ, and the region r<λ. It is found that in the intermediate region with high anisotropy the component of the magnetic field along the vortex line changes sign for a certain interval of angles between the vortex line and the anisotropy axis. Because of this the interaction of parallel vortices whose plane is parallel to the anisotropy axis has a minimum and a maximum. This means that numerous metastable vortex lattices can exist. Additional terms in the vortex self-energy are obtained, and although they are smaller than the leading logarithmic term, they display a different dependence on the angle between the vortex line and the anisotropy axis.
