This paper describes a DC surface corona discharge designed to modify the airflow around a flat plate. The electrode configuration consisted of two thin copper layers placed on each side of the plate's attack edge. Discharge optical measurements with a photomultiplier tube indicated that the light emitted by the plasma is pulsating at a frequency that increases with applied voltage. Moreover, with voltage higher than a threshold value, the electric discharge changes regime with brighter pulses. This discharge also induced an “ionic wind” whose velocity was measured with a pressure sensing probe (up to 1 m/s). Experiments with the particle image velocimetry system in a subsonic wind tunnel showed that this discharge can reduce the separated airflow on the flat plate for a flow of 14 m/s (Reynolds number of 187,000).  相似文献

An electrohydrodynamic (EHD) atomization from a point-to-plate system, with a wet porous point as a corona electrode, has been studied. And the atomized water droplets from the wet porous point, as well as the water droplet traces, the water droplet charge-to-mass ratios, and the water droplet number concentrations, were investigated. It was observed that the wet porous point can atomize abundant amounts of water droplet, 2.8, 2.6 and 2.2 mg/min for negative, AC and positive corona, respectively. The migrated water droplet traces were observed. The positive wet porous point atomized very fine water droplets than those obtained with the negative wet porous point. Moreover, the water droplets atomized from the AC corona showed granular-like larger traces. A weak corona discharge can atomize water droplets very effectively. On the other hand, an intensive corona discharge can eject more water droplets. As a result with the wet porous point, the maximum corona-current-based and corona-power-based water droplet atomization yields of YC = 3.34, 3.32 and 3.25 μg/μAs and YP = 0.35, 0.40 and 0.27 mg/Ws have been obtained for the negative, AC and positive corona discharges.  相似文献

In this study, a unipolar charger for generating highly charged microparticles was designed and its performance was evaluated both theoretically and experimentally. The measured particle charge number and corona current of the charger were in good agreement with the theoretical results from FLUENT. The experimentally determined average particle charge number of 1 μm PSL under an applied voltage of 8 kV was 128, which agreed well with the theoretically predicted and simulated values of 118 and 121, respectively. Computational calculations revealed the average charge of 10 μm particles to be 7560 at an applied voltage of 8 kV.  相似文献

The design of a micro-force sensor suitable for the measurement of corona drag and other low velocity drag studies in a small laboratory wind tunnel facility is described. Example drag data are given for dc corona discharge generated by sharp parallel electrodes mounted on a microscope glass slide with discharge parallel to the air flow. The arrangement simulates two-dimensional flow over a flat plate useful for theoretical analysis. Measurements of free stream wind velocities in the range 0–210 cm/s with attendant drag down to 10−7 N can be detected in this facility depending on the calibration. The force sensor utilizes two strain gages mounted on a 0.127 mm stainless steel “feeler gage” in a cantilever arrangement. A bridge circuit provides sensitivities in the range 40–250 N/mV using a gravitational calibration technique. Anomalous effects from suspension wires and the interaction of electrostatic forces with the surroundings are discussed.  相似文献

Mixing layer height measurements with an elastic-backscattered lidar were carried out in Hefei, China, during the total solar eclipse of 22 July, 2009. The mixing layer height evolution is studied with the observation of changes in near-ground temperature, relative humidity and wind speed. The lidar emits the laser at the wavelengths of 532 and 355 nm, respectively, and obtains the backscattered signal with the resolution of 10 m. The whole eclipse witnessed the mixing layer change similar to that occurring during sunset. The results also show the mixing layer height decreased to 287 m rapidly during the total eclipse within only more than 1 min from the initial 354 m. The entrainment thickness reached the minimum of 43 m in the eclipse, indicating the weakening of the penetrative convection. Thereafter the thickness kept a constant value of 180 m. The temperature in the whole eclipse is uptrend, increasing only by 0.5 °C as a whole. The wind speed decreased and simultaneously the wind direction changed. The wind speed reached its minimum of 2 m/s at the end of the eclipse.  相似文献

Current–voltage (IV) data for positive and negative polarity point-to-plane geometries are reported for gas flows transverse to the axis of the emitters. Air and nitrogen flows of 0–5 m/s were considered in the experiments and temperatures in ranges of 213–493 K in nitrogen and 283–493 K in air. Entrainment of charge carriers from the individual corona and positive–negative polarity emitter-pairs was considered towards understanding the static elimination process for downstream targets in the gas flows.  相似文献

A liquid stub tuner was developed to transmit a MW level of RF power continuously in the KSTAR (Korean Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research) ICRF (ion cyclotron range of frequencies) heating and current drive systems. It is made of a 9–3/16″ coaxial transmission line, and the property of the RF wavelength difference in a liquid and in a gas due to their different dielectric constants is utilized. Silicon oil with a relative dielectric constant of 2.74 was used as the liquid, because of its low vapor pressure and low dielectric loss. The liquid stub tuner components were equipped with electrostatic probes, thermocouples, and a humidity sensor to measure the RF voltages, the liquid temperature, and the humidity in the coaxial transmission line, respectively. The level of the liquid for the liquid stub tuner can be changed from 0 to 2.8 m, which corresponds to 2.0 m mechanical length variation at 30 MHz. The RF power test of the liquid stub tuner was performed with various conditioned silicon oils at 30 MHz to compare the high voltage characteristics among various conditioned silicon oils. The stand-off voltage of 43.82 kV (average) was achieved for the liquid stub tuner during the 300 s operation.  相似文献

In this paper, a mid-/long-wave dual-band detector which combined PπMN structure and unipolar barrier was developed based on type-II InAs/GaSb superlattice. A relevant 320 × 256 focal plane array (FPA) was fabricated. Unipolar barrier and PπMN structure in our dual band detector structure were used to suppress cross-talk and dark current, respectively. The two channels, with respective 50% cut-off wavelength at 4.5 μm and 10 μm were obtained. The peak quantum efficiency (QE) of mid wavelength infrared (MWIR) band and long wavelength infrared (LWIR) band are 53% at 3.2 μm under no bias voltage and 40% at 6.4 μm under bias voltage of −170 mV, respectively. And the dark current density under 0 and −170 mV of applied bias are 1.076 × 10−5 A/cm2 and 2.16 × 10−4 A/cm2. The specific detectivity of MWIR band and LWIR band are 2.15 × 1012 cm·Hz1/2/W at 3.2 μm and 2.31 × 1010 cm·Hz1/2/W at 6.4 μm, respectively, at 77 K. The specific detectivity of LWIR band maintains above 1010 cm·Hz1/2/W at the wavelength range from 4.3 μm to 10.2 μm under −170 mV. The cross-talk, selectivity parameter at 3.0 μm, about 0.14 was achieved under bias of −170 mV. Finally, the thermal images were taken by the fabricated FPA at 77 K.  相似文献

A precise DC high-voltage divider was designed and constructed for use as a standard. The ratio of the divider for precise measurement must be known accurately independent of voltage and time. The changes in total resistance of a divider with voltage and time should be considered before design and construction. The divider consists of 100 wire-wound resistors with a total resistance of about 100 MΩ as the high-voltage arm and one wire-wound resistor with resistance of 100 kΩ as the low-voltage arm. The high voltage and ground electrodes were designed to prevent electric field concentration and corona formation at high voltages. A current measuring instrument with 6.5 digit resolution was developed to allow comparison of entering and existing currents for detection of current leakage. Considering the sources of error, a relative uncertainty of 66 ppm (parts per million) was obtained with coverage factor k = 2 for the constructed DC high-voltage divider.  相似文献

The process of synthesis of carbon fiber from hydrocarbon vapours in low-current electrical-discharge plasma was investigated in the paper. The carbon fibers were effectively synthesised in discharge of positive polarity generated between a stainless steel needle and a plate made of nickel alloy, for the discharge current ranged from 1 mA up to 3 mA. The experiments were carried out at normal pressure in cyclohexane vapours with argon as carrier gas. The diameter of produced fibers varied from about 20 to 70 μm. The growth rate of the fiber was about 0.25 mm/s.  相似文献

Indium tin oxide (ITO) films as the low emissivity coatings of Ni-based alloy at high temperature were studies. ITO films were deposited on the polished surface of alloy K424 by direct current magnetron sputtering. These ITO-coated samples were heat-treated in air at 600–900 °C for 150 h to explore the effect of high temperature environment on the emissivity. The samples were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), SEM and EDS. The results show that the surface of sample is integrity after heat processing at 700 °C and below it. A small amount of fine crack is observed on the surface of sample heated at 800 °C and Ti oxide appears. There are lots of fine cracks on the sample annealed at 900 °C and a large number of various oxides are detected. The average infrared emissivities at 3–5 μm and 8–14 μm wavebands were tested by an infrared emissivity measurement instrument. The results show the emissivity of the sample after annealed at 600 and 700 °C is still kept at a low value as the sample before annealed. The ITO film can be used as a low emissivity coating of super alloy K424 up to 700 °C.  相似文献

An efficient method is proposed for the computation of the electric field strength and of the space-charge density in configurations of at least three ionising and non-ionising electrodes. The physical model is derived under the assumptions commonly accepted for the study of corona fields. The mathematical model makes use of a conformal mapping that converts the actual boundary-free field zone into a rectangular domain with well-defined boundary conditions. The finite-difference method is then used for solving the differential equations that describe the ionic space-charge and electric field distribution. The computational procedure was employed for studying the simple case of the drift zone of the corona discharge generated between a so-called dual electrode and a grounded plate. The dual electrode consisted of an ionising wire (diameter 0.22 mm) located at 20 mm from a tubular metallic support (diameter 25 mm). The computed current–voltage characteristic and current density distribution at the surface of the collector plate were in good agreement with the experimental data obtained for this combined corona–electrostatics electrode arrangement.  相似文献

An investigation was performed to study the electrical effects on the soot deposition in a co-axial wire cylinder with cooled walls. Experiments were performed for applied voltages from 0 to ?5 kV or +5 kV and a diesel exhaust mass flow rate of 20 kg/h or Reynolds number of approximately 9000. The outer wall was cooled using water with a temperature of approximately 40 °C, and the experiments were performed for exposure times of 2 h. The soot deposition layer thickness was measured using a non-destructive neutron radiography technique at the end of each experiment. The results show that the electric field had a significant effect on the soot deposition and increases it by a factor of approximately 4 at the applied voltage of 5 kV before spark on-set. The soot thickness was similar for the positive and negative polarities and the results show that there was significant deposition on the wire as well as the outer wall for both polarities. Since soot deposition even occurs on both corona wire and grounded pipe below corona on-set voltages of the clean system, there may be a significant pre-charging of the diesel soot with both polarities in the diesel exhaust gas as has been observed by the recent measurements of Marieq [On the electrical charge of motor vehicle exhaust particles, Journal of Aerosol Science 37 (7) (2006) 858–874].  相似文献

A twin bow-tie polymer-based photonic quasi-crystal fiber with high birefringence, high nonlinearity and low dispersion as well as maintaining single mode operation is presented in the wavelength range 1.8–2.2 μm. Through optimizing fiber structure parameter using a full-vector finite-element method combined with perfectly matched layers boundary condition, the birefringence is as high as 2.43 × 10−3, the nonlinearity is as high as 118 W−1 km−1, and the dispersion is only 25 ps/nm/km at 2 μm with the holes pitch of 3.3 μm. From the point of fabrication, the influences of deviation of each air hole diameter are discussed to verify the robustness of the photonic quasi-crystal fiber designed.  相似文献

The influence of stiffeners on plate vibration and noise radiation induced by turbulent boundary layers is investigated by wind tunnel measurements. Plates with and without stiffeners are tested under the flow speed of 60 m/s, 71 m/s and 86 m/s, respectively. The stiffeners are set either perpendicular or parallel to the direction of the free stream. Measured vibration and noise levels are compared with theoretical calculations, where wall pressure cross-spectra are described by the Corcos model. For the plates tested, it is evident that stiffeners perpendicular to the direction of the free stream could increase noise radiation, but have almost no influence on vibration level of plates.  相似文献

In the present study, we use X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis to clarify how different polarities of corona initiate various changes in the surfaces of polypropylene (PP) electrets subject to corona discharge. The samples were charged in three-electrode corona discharge system using positive and negative corona polarities at both −20 and 75 °C temperatures. The tests were divided into four groups. The surface potentials of the electret samples were measured using the vibrating electrode method with compensation. XPS studies were carried out by means of a VG ESCALAB Mk II electronic spectrometer using an Al Kα excitation source (=1486.6 eV). The spectra of C1s, O1s and N1s lines for all groups and for untreated samples were recorded and analyzed. The investigations that we carried out show that for negative-corona-charged samples, the oxygen content is approximately 2.4 times higher than that in positive-corona-charged samples. Based on the results we have obtained, we may assume that the changes in oxygen content in samples charged by different polarity coronas lead to the formation of different surface local levels. This assumption agrees well with the experimental measurement made on the electrets.  相似文献

We investigate the feasibility of cutting and drilling thin flex glass (TFG) substrates using a picosecond laser operating at wavelengths of 1030 nm, 515 nm and 343 nm. 50 μm and 100 μm thick AF32®Eco Thin Glass (Schott AG) sheets are used. The laser processing parameters such as the wavelength, pulse energy, pulse repetition frequency, scan speed and the number of laser passes which are necessary to perform through a cut or to drill a borehole in the TFG substrate are studied in detail. Our results show that the highest effective cutting speeds (220 mm/s for a 50 μm thick TFG substrate and 74 mm/s for a 100 μm thick TFG substrate) are obtained with the 1030 nm wavelength, whereas the 343 nm wavelength provides the best quality cuts. The 515 nm wavelength, meanwhile, can be used to provide relatively good laser cut quality with heat affected zones (HAZ) of <25 μm for 50 μm TFG and <40 μm for 100 μm TFG with cutting speeds of 100 mm/s and 28.5 mm/s, respectively. The 343 nm and 515 nm wavelengths can also be used for drilling micro-holes (with inlet diameters of ⩽75 µm) in the 100 μm TFG substrate with speeds of up to 2 holes per second (using 343 nm) and 8 holes per second (using 515 nm). Optical microscope and SEM images of the cuts and micro-holes are presented.  相似文献

High resolution chronoamperometry has been used to characterize the effect of two non-ionic surfactants, Triton® X-100 and NCW®-1002, on cavitation in aqueous solutions exposed to ~1 MHz sound field. Specifically, using ferricyanide as the electroactive species, temporal variation of current during its reduction on a 25 μm Pt microelectrode has been measured and is used to elucidate transient cavity behavior. The chronoamperograms for solutions exposed to megasonic field show current ‘peaks’ riding on the baseline current. These current ‘peaks’ have been attributed to the diffusion of ferricyanide species concentrated at the liquid–vapor interface of a transient cavity at the end of its collapse. In the presence of surfactants, the frequency of occurrence of current ‘peaks’ with magnitude ?0.3 μA is found to increase indicating a higher number of transient cavity collapses. A simple mathematical model based on diffusion developed previously by the authors has been used to extract the maximum cavity size and range of distances between the center of the collapsing cavity and the electrode surface in the surfactant solutions.  相似文献

This study showed that temperature influences the rate of separation of fat from natural whole milk during application of ultrasonic standing waves. In this study, natural whole milk was sonicated at 600 kHz (583 W/L) or 1 MHz (311 W/L) with a starting bulk temperature of 5, 25, or 40 °C. Comparisons on separation efficiency were performed with and without sonication. Sonication using 1 MHz for 5 min at 25 °C was shown to be more effective for fat separation than the other conditions tested with and without ultrasound, resulting in a relative change from 3.5 ± 0.06% (w/v) fat initially, of −52.3 ± 2.3% (reduction to 1.6 ± 0.07% (w/v) fat) in the skimmed milk layer and 184.8 ± 33.2% (increase to 9.9 ± 1.0% (w/v) fat) in the top layer, at an average skimming rate of ∼5 g fat/min. A shift in the volume weighted mean diameter (D[4,3]) of the milk samples obtained from the top and bottom of between 8% and 10% relative to an initial sample D[4,3] value of 4.5 ± 0.06 μm was also achieved under these conditions. In general, faster fat separation was seen in natural milk when natural creaming occurred at room temperature and this separation trend was enhanced after the application of high frequency ultrasound.  相似文献

In this paper, quantum efficiency (QE) measurements performed on type-II InAs/GaSb superlattice (T2SL) photodiodes operating in the mid-wavelength infrared domain, are reported. Several comparisons were made in order to determine the SL structure showing optimum radiometric performances: same InAs-rich SL structure with different active zone thicknesses (from 0.5 μm to 4 μm) and different active zone doping (n-type versus p-type), same 1 μm thick p-type active zone doping with different SL designs (InAs-rich versus GaSb-rich and symmetric SL structures). Best result was obtained for the p-type doped InAs-rich SL photodiode, with a 4 μm active zone thickness, showing a QE that reaches 61% at λ = 2 μm and 0 V bias voltage.  相似文献
