本文利用传输矩阵法得到了微环耦合谐振光波导的色散关系,讨论了耦合损耗、传输损耗及耦合系数对微环耦合谐振光波导色散的影响,改变耦合损耗、传输损耗及耦合系数可控制其色散曲线的形状、位置、以及带宽,色散曲线的变化及控制对微环耦合谐振光波导在滤波、光信号延迟及缓存等方面的应用有重要意义. 关键词: 光波导 微环光波导 传输矩阵法  相似文献

将两单负材料耦合后,再与一双负材料交替生成光子晶体。然后利用传输矩阵法对该光子晶体的能带和缺陷模进行了研究。结果表明:这种结构的光子晶体具有一种新型的光子带隙,不随晶格常数的缩放而移动;当引入普通电介质缺陷层时,缺陷模对入射角的改变不敏感,但缺陷模个数随着缺陷层厚度的增加而增多。  相似文献

The paper provides theoretical analysis of planar antiresonant reflecting optical waveguides (ARROWs) with thin cores. It is shown that the appropriate choice of the cladding system parameters enables fabrication of thin-core ARROWs with all desired properties, such as low-loss single-mode operation and high refractive-index sensitivity of ARROW mode attenuation.  相似文献

The extended boundary condition method is applied to both circular and elliptical regions for calculating cutoff frequencies Vc of weakly guiding optical waveguides, which consist of a uniform cladding and a core with arbitrary shape and index profile. The frequency shift formula method is explained by means of the extended boundary condition method on circular regions. Comparing the method with analytic and other rigorous methods, we show that it is indeed a powerful tool. Numerical results confirm that the mode designation and arrangement order in elliptical and rectangular waveguides are, in general, dependent on the aspect ratio.  相似文献

提出求解有缓冲层的多层金属包层介质光波导的一个准解析方法,它应用渐近开展理论将传播常数展开成一个小参数的级数,这一方法本身是精确的,它能达到任意所需的精度,然而四层和五层波导结构的数值计算实例表明,仅二阶近似解就足够精确了。这一方法的优点是简单并且不同层数波导结构以及TE和TM膜的解有相同的表达式形式。  相似文献

Engineered photonic waveguides have provided in the past decade an extremely rich laboratory tool to visualize with optical waves the classic analogues of a wide variety of coherent quantum phenomena encountered in atomic, molecular or condensed‐matter physics. As compared to quantum systems, optics offers the rather unique advantage of a direct mapping of the wave function evolution in coordinate space by simple fluorescence imaging or scanning tunneling optical microscopy techniques. In this contribution recent theoretical and experimental advances in the field of quantum‐optical analogies are reviewed. Special attention is devoted to some relevant optical analogies based on the use of curved photonic structures, including: coherent destruction of tunneling in driven bistable potentials; coherent population transfer and adiabatic passage in laser‐driven multilevel atomic systems; quantum decay control and Zeno dynamics; electronic Bloch oscillations and Zener tunneling, Anderson localization and dynamic localization in crystalline potentials.  相似文献

A multi-beam module using optical waveguides has been studied for a laser scanning optical system. Laser diodes with a wavelength of 780 nm are assembled on a silicon substrate. The beams emitted from the laser diodes are directly coupled into waveguides. This multi-beam module is assembled on a metal substrate with a photodiode. The photodiode controls the power of each laser diode on the silicon substrate. The multi-beam module is able to increase the output speed of high-density image printings, and the speed for high-speed color printings. We have developed the four-beam module with beam divergence angles of 11 degrees and spatial beam interval of 24 μm. Additional heat sink and optimizing tip-bonding between the laser diode and solder pad on the silicon substrate is useful to stabilize laser power against rising temperature.  相似文献

The light intensity transmission of GaAlAs strip waveguides is sensitively dependent on the strength of the electric field inside the waveguide, when the photon energy is close to the band gap (Franz-Keldysh effect). In a waveguide embedded in a pn-junction the transmitted light itself induces the field changes through the photoelectric effect. This photo-induced Franz-Keldysh effect causes a non-linear intensity transmission of the waveguide. Light power levels far below 1 mW are sufficient to give strong non-linearities. Possible application schemes for modulation and all-optical switching in integrated optics and optoelectronics are discussed.  相似文献

Abstract

With the advent of fiber in the loop, transmission of power ceases to be through the traditional communications medium, and the objective of powering voice lines over fiber with the same reliability goals as plain old telephone service (POTS) raises several technological, regulatory, and business issues. In order to power the optical network unit (ONU) and provide backup power for it during commercial power outages, three strategies are identified: 1) providing loop powering from a ?48 volt CO/CEV power plant; 2) providing power and backup power locally, from or near the end of the loop in proximity to the OW; and 3) providing power from the curb or a power node. This paper constructs economic models to determine the worth of a watt at the 5-volt logic level at an ONU for each of the powering strategies. By normalizing all costs to the worth of a watt, comparisons can be made and appropriate architectures can be selected for various applications.  相似文献

Optical polymers are a promising material of choice in the development of hybrid silicon photonics devices. Particularly, recent progress in electro‐optic (EO) active polymers has shown a strong Pockels effect. A ring resonator modulator is a vital building block for practical applications, such as signal processing, routing, and monitoring. However, the properties of the hybrid silicon and EO polymer ring modulators are still far from their theoretical limits. Here, we demonstrate a unique design of a hybrid ring resonator modulator simply located onto a silicon‐on‐insulator (SOI) substrate. Extra doping and etching of the SOI wafer is not required, even so we measured an in‐device electro‐optic coefficient r33 = 129 pm/V. The ring modulator exhibited a high sensitivity of the electrically tunable resonance, which enabled a 3 dB bandwidth of up to 18 GHz. The proposed technique will enable efficient mass‐production of the micro‐footprint modulators and promote the development of integrated silicon photonics.  相似文献

A computer controlled mode coupling analyser is conceived and described in detail to characterize and to analyse mode coupling in all known kinds of cylindrical, multimode, step index, optical waveguides (CMSIOWs) by experimental measurement. These waveguides can be present in many ways like simple fibres, multimode fibre-optic sensors (MFOS) or other optical components like couplers or modulators. The computer processed results of measurements lead to transfer matrices and modulation transfer matrices. The transfer matrices describe the light distribution in the far field of these waveguides depending on the direction and power of the light that is injected into it. By visualizing the modulation transfer matrices in the form of mesh diagrams, the influence of external physical parameters, like a measured variable, on the mode coupling mechanisms inside CMSIOWs can be shown directly. The computer controlled mode coupling analyser will make the optimization of MFOS more efficient and, moreover, it will ease modelling of CMSIOWs and define their properties. The potential field of applications for the mode coupling analyser will be in engineering and optimization of intrinsic multimode fibre-optic sensors and their components.  相似文献

A realistic design of evanescent field optical sensors, constituted by three different kinds of planar waveguides covered by a sensing polymeric overlay, is performed. More precisely, the slab, the embedded strip and the ridge waveguides are considered. The sensor operation is simulated, in both the cases of lossy guided and leaky mode propagation, via a home made computer code. The optimal waveguide transverse section and length are identified, the advantages and drawbacks are shown. The ridge waveguide sensor exhibits appreciable characteristics: for a concentration C w = 200 ppm of toluene in water, the absorbance pertaining to a device L = 2.6 cm long and for the guided quasi-TE00 mode is A ≅ 5, while it is A ≅ 0.054 for a device long L ≅ 24.1 μm and the leaky quasi-TE10 mode. The simulation results suggest that a selective excitation of the suitable propagation mode can enhance the sensor performance.  相似文献

采用二维时域有限差分(FDTD)法,分析并对比了弯曲分叉部分的形状分别为正弦形和圆弧形的基于金属-绝缘体-金属(MIM)型表面等离子体光波导的Y形分束器的反射率、传输率以及能量分束比随几何结构参数的变化关系。数值计算表明,波导宽度对这两种Y形分束器传输特性的影响较为明显,两个输出分支的偏移量和弯曲分叉部分的长度对这两种Y形分束器传输特性的影响比较微弱。在600~1500nm波长范围内,弯曲分叉部分为圆弧形的Y形分束器的传输特性比弯曲分叉部分为正弦形的好。对于非对称型Y形分束器,当弯曲分叉部分为正弦形时,偏移量对反射率、传输率和能量分束比的调节作用较为明显,能量分束比最大可达到2∶1。当弯曲分叉部分为圆弧形时,偏移量对反射率、传输率和能量分束比的调节作用较为微弱。  相似文献
