The stability of large Fröhlich bipolarons in the presence of a static magnetic field is investigated with the path integral formalism. We find that the application of a magnetic field (characterized by the cyclotron frequence ω c) favors bipolaron formation: (i) the critical electronphonon coupling parameter α c (above which the bipolaron is stable) decreases with increasing ω c and (ii) the critical Coulomb repulsion strength U c (below which the bipolaron is stable) increases with increasing ω c. The binding energy and the corresponding variational parameters are calculated as a function of α, U and ω c. Analytical results are obtained in various limiting cases. In the limit of strong electron-phonon coupling (α ? 1) we obtain for ω c ? 1 that E estim ? E estim(ω c = 0) + c(u)ω c/α 4 with c(u) an explicitly calculated constant, dependent on the ratio u = U/α where U is the strength of the Coulomb repulsion. This relation applies both in 2D and in 3D, but with a different expression for c(u). For ω c ? α 2? 1 we find in 3D E estim ? ω c - α 2 A(u) ln2(ω c/α 2), (also with an explicit analytical expression for A(u)) whereas in 2D E estim 2D ? ω c - αω cπ(u-2-√2)/2. The validity region of the Feynman-Jensen inequality for the present problem, bipolarons in a magnetic field, remains to be examined.  相似文献

We review the methods of calculating the effective activation energy Ueff(T,B,J) for both transport measurements and magnetic decay, together with some theoretical models. Then, we apply these methods to our Hg-1223 single-phase superconductor to obtain the activation energy. Transport results give that the magnetic field and temperature dependence of the Ueff can be well described as U0B−α(1−T/Tc)m. Magnetic relaxation shows that the current density dependence of U(J) can be scaled onto a single curve, which can be considered as the activation energy at some temperature T0. The pinning mechanism in the measured temperature range does not change, and the activation energy depends separately on the three variables: T, B, and J, are responsible for the magnetic decay data scaling onto a single curve at various temperatures. As temperatures close to zero and near Tc, thermally assisted flux motion model is no longer valid since other processes dominate.  相似文献

Elastic scattering of electrons by cut-off Coulomb potential Uc(r) is investigated, where Uc(r) = 0, for r > rc and Uc(r) = ?1/r + 1/rc for rrc. This is first considered in terms of classical, and later quantum mechanical (partial wave) methods in the low energy range 0 ≦ ? ? 1/rc, where ? is the energy of the free electron. Scattering in this energy region displays a number of particular characteristics, such as back scattering, at certain energies. It can be concluded that some agreement does exist between the classical and quantum mechanical results.  相似文献

A comparative study is made for Λc5He and Λc9Be charmed nuclei versus Λ5He and Λ9Be hypernuclei. The Λc(Λ)+α and Λc(Λ)+α+α systems are treated in a microscopic way. Within certain range of the ΛcN interaction strength, the energy properties of Λc+α and Λc+α+α are calculated and discussed. Similarity between the energy spectra of the noted charmed nuclei and hypernuclei is suggested.  相似文献

The Faddeev-Volkov model is an Ising-type lattice model with positive Boltzmann weights where the spin variables take continuous values on the real line. It serves as a lattice analog of the sinh-Gordon and Liouville models and intimately connected with the modular double of the quantum group Uq(sl2). The free energy of the model is exactly calculated in the thermodynamic limit. In the quasi-classical limit c→+∞ the model describes quantum fluctuations of discrete conformal transformations connected with the Thurston's discrete analogue of the Riemann mappings theorem. In the strongly-coupled limit c→1 the model turns into a discrete version of the D=2 Zamolodchikov's “fishing-net” model.  相似文献

The elastic scattering of electrons on the cut-off Coulomb potential Uc(r) = ?1/r + 1/rc, for rrc and Uc(r) = 0, for r > rc, has been considered. It has been shown that for ε > 0.5/rc (ε is the energy of free electrons in atomic units) the analytical quasi-classical expressions describe quite well the behaviour of transport, differential and total cross sections for elastic scattering. It has been shown moreover, that in the energy range considered, transport cross section could be determined with practically the same accuracy already by means of classical, analytical expressions. Born approximations show larger deviations from exact quantum calculations.  相似文献

We present the possible mixing effects associated with the low-energy limit of a Standard-Model extension by two abelian gauge groups U1(1)×U2(1). We derive general formulae and approximate expressions that connect the gauge eigenstates to the mass eigenstates. Applications using the well-studied groups UB(1), U(1)BL, U(1)LαLβ (Lα being lepton flavor numbers), and UDM(1) (a symmetry acting only on the dark matter sector) are discussed briefly.  相似文献

Light-front quantization of the conformally gauge-fixed Polyakov D1 brane action in the presence of a constant background scalar axion field C(τ, σ) and an U(1) gauge field A α (τ, σ) is studied. The axion field C and the U(1) gauge field A α , are seen to behave like the Wess–Zumino (WZ) fields and the term involving these fields is seen to behave like a WZ term for this action.  相似文献

Using the double-Regge formalism and a supercritical pomeron with αP(0)=1+Δ, we analyse the energy dependence of inclusive cross sections for negatively charged particles (c) and Ks0 at CM rapidity y=0 in the CERN PS-Sp̄pS collider energy range. The values of Δ(c)=0.170±0.008 and Δ(Ks0)=0.167±0.024 are found to be very close to each other and compatible with estimates of Δ derived from the total cross sections.  相似文献

We present a supersymmetricSU(5)×U(1) model. This model has the following features. The gauge hierarchy is naturally generated by the quadratically divergent nature of the Fayet-IliopoulosD term. TheSU(5)×U(1) gauge symmetry breaks uniquely intoSU(3) W ×SU(2) c ×U(1) y at an energy scale of 1017–18GeV. The non-vanishing vacuum expectation value of an auxiliary field component ofU(1) gauge vector multiplet induces the breaking ofSU(2) W ×U(1) y . It gives a mass of 102–3GeV to scalar quarks and scalar leptons at the tree level. The renormalization group analysis shows that the color fine structure constant α C (M W ) becomes somewhat small and the Weinberg angle sin2θ W (M W ) somewhat too large in a simple version of the model.  相似文献

The SU c (3) ? SU L(2) ? SU R(2) ? U(1) left-right symmetric gauge model has been briefly reviewed. The possibility of the detection of signals from the production of the W R boson in pp-collisions at the Large Hadron Collider has been discussed. Constraints on the masses of the W R-boson and heavy neutrino obtained by analyzing the recent experimental data from the Compact Muon Solenoid detector with the total energy of collisions E tot = 8 TeV have been reviewed.  相似文献

The effect of the ratio of fluctuation field (Hf) to coercivity (Hc) on the temperature coefficient of coercivity [α(Hc)] was investigated for Co55Cr15.5Pt28B1.5/Co63Cr37/Cr, Co69Cr19Pt9Ta3/Cr, and Co86Cr10Ta4/Cr thin films (longitudinal recording media) with very small average grain volume (Vphy). α(Hc) increases markedly with increase in temperature between near 250 and 350 K for Co55Cr15.5Pt28B1.5/Co63Cr37/Cr thin films. α(Hc) is approximately proportional to the ratio Hf/Hc for all thin films, as in the case of advanced data backup tapes prepared from ultrafine particles. α(Hc) and the ratio Hf/Hc increase as Vphy decreases. Smaller Hf/Hc values are necessary for small α(Hc) values, which is very important for the thermal stability of high-density recording media with very small Vphy.  相似文献

We explore the phenomenological structure of E 6-inspired grand unified group with the gauge group SU(3)c×SU(2)L×U(1)Y×U(1), the emphasis being laid upon its implications for Higgs boson observation. In particular, we discuss the probability for the mass eigenstate Z 2 to decay into a Higgs particle and a bound state composed of heavy quarks. We have constructed the first “realistic candidate” preon model with low composite scale satisfying complementarity between the Higgs and confining phases. The model is based onSU(4) metacolor and predicts four generations of ordinary quarks and leptons together with heavy neutrinos at the level of the standard gauge groupSU(3) c ×SU(2) L ×U(1) Y . A new parafermionic algebra associated with the homogeneous space A(2)2/U(1) and its corresponding Z-algebra have been recently proposed. In this paper, we give a free boson representation of the A(2)2 parafermion algebra in terms of seven free fields. Free field realizations of the parafermionic energy–momentum tensor and screening currents are also obtained. A model based on a low energySU(3)c×SU(2)1×SU(2)2×U(1) H gauge group is considered. Theb-quark couples mainly to thec-quark via a new heavyW-boson and thet-quark is omitted altogether. The model is shown to be compatible with low energy charged current data. \(B_d^0 - \bar B_d^0 \) mixing occurs through the exchange of the heavyW-boson and through gluino exchange in the supersymmetric version of the model. The calculated mixing is much smaller in both cases than the observed effect and the model is, therefore, ruled out.  相似文献
