Variational analysis of LCVD rod growth was made possible by a new axial convection enhanced micro-reactor design that lent itself to accurate in-process measurements of growth rate and position inside the growth region. The methodology follows a typical design of experiments approach where the effect of small perturbations to process parameters are measured in real-time. The findings are rather startling. They point to a growth rate that is not symmetrical with respect to the focal plane. In fact, the peak growth rate is consistently recorded well in front of the focal plane, at a distance one order of magnitude greater than the Raleigh range, decreases rapidly afterward, steadies across the focus, and then decreases slowly. A measure of energetic efficiency can be derived that shows a rapid decay of the amount of material deposited per Joule. A central assumption to this analysis is that growth occurs in the kinetic domain and that was confirmed experimentally. The reason for the great variability and asymmetry observed are still unknown. However, corroboration of our results would throw into question a large body of published LCVD measurements as they would have to account for the wide variability of the measured quantities within the growth region. Laser chemical vapor deposition (LCVD) utilizes a laser to localize a CVD reaction. The process involves complex physical interactions within a very small spatial region. Experimental investigations into the dynamics of the LCVD process are limited by spatial and resolution capabilities of instrumentation. Models are developed herein using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code, FLUENT, that incorporate heat transfer, fluid flow, and species transport in a single integrated modeling environment. The models are used to study the carbon deposition process. Insight is gained into the relationships among the process parameters and the deposition rates and deposition rate profiles. Phenomena such as thermal diffusion and the relative importance of mass convection and mass diffusion are explored. A designed set of model cases is executed and the results are used to develop a simple polynomial expression for relating experiment conditions to deposit attributes. 本文在S2流面流动方程中加入了"展向掺混"模型,模拟叶栅端部二次流动、湍流扩散等对局部低动量流体的展向输运效应。方法用于混流叶轮内流动分析,结果表明:由于混流叶轮子午流道的大曲率,叶轮端部的低动量流体在展向的扩散远大于轴流叶栅,叶轮出口的展向均匀化趋势更加明显。合理的选择掺混扩散系数,可以获得与三维N-S计算的周向平均值类似的子午面分布,从而提高了S2流面分析和设计的可靠性。  相似文献

堆芯模拟是压水堆水力模拟实验研究的关键技术,通常采用燃料组件──对应的模拟方式,使堆芯流量分配实验数据有一一对应关系。本文结合秦山核电二期工程介绍了电站压水堆堆芯水力模拟的一般理论和方法。在国内首次应用E.U.Khan压水堆开式栅格堆芯模拟理论,用2x2棒束模拟原型17x17棒束,用特殊研制的内磁式涡轮流量计测量堆芯入口流量分配,微型电导电极测量下空腔流动交混,完成了600MWe反应堆水力模拟堆芯的设计、实验等工作。  相似文献

The three-dimensional vortical structure and the mixing mechanism of a circular water jet were investigated by a flow visualization technique. The jet was excited by axial and azimuthal perturbations to stabilize and enhance axisymmetric and streamwise vortices. A laser fluorescent dye and a laser light sheet were used to visualize the jet. The three-dimensional views of vortical structure were constructed by applying the Taylor hypothesis to the jet cross-sectional images. The views reveal the details of the complicated vortical structure. From the three-dimensional views, the areas of jet-boundary surface were calculated to discuss the jet mixing mechanism. The areas of the unmixed region were also discussed to evaluate the mixing rate on the inside of the jet. The result suggests that the enhancement of axisymmetric and streamwise vortices is very effective to increase mixing.  相似文献

Carbon fibers were deposited by laser-assisted chemical vapor (LCVD) deposition from ethylene at sub-atmospheric pressure. Prior Raman spectroscopy analysis allowed the determination of the crystal size (average value of 3 nm in the edge region and from 8 to 113 nm in the center region). In this analysis, the microstructure of as-grown and heat treated fibers was examined using micro-Raman spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The analysis revealed the degree of three-dimensional ordering of graphite planes and that the fibers were porous.  相似文献

The rate of cwphotolytic laser chemical vapor deposition (LCVD) of platinum is measured for 350 nm as a function of the light intensity and the metalorganic vapor pressure. The growth of the metal films is studied in situ and in real time by monitoring their optical transmission. At low intensities the transmitted light decreases monotonically with time, and the LCVD process is photolytic with its rate limiting step in the surface adlayer. At higher intensities we observe two distinct time domains: Relatively slow initial photolytic deposition with its rate limiting step in the gas phase, which is followed by much faster pyrolytic LCVD. An improved method for distinguishing between adlayer and gas-phase limiting processes is demonstrated. These observations are confirmed by studying the photolytic deposition rates while varying the thickness of the adlayer.  相似文献

用三维激光多普勒测速系统测量研究了低速大尺寸单级压气机设计状态转子内尖区三维紊流流场.结果表明,设计状态下叶尖泄漏涡是造成压气机转子尖部素流脉动的主要因素,其造成的高素流区沿流向逐渐扩大,并缓慢向通道中部和低叶高方向移动,紊流强度值随旋涡的增强而增大.在泄漏涡影响区域中,径向脉动水平最高,轴向和切向脉动水平相近,三个剪切应力中,轴向一径向最大,切向一径向次之,轴向一切向最小.在叶片通道后段,泄漏涡发生破裂,导致更强、更大范围的紊流脉动,剪切应力中切向-径向应力较高.在叶尖吸力面角区后半部的角涡,紊流强度大,剪切应力也大,尤其是切向-径向剪切应力.  相似文献

The Full-Zone model of a liquid bridge encountered in crystal growth is analyzed via linear stability analysis and three-dimensional spectral element simulations, neglecting gravitational forces, for Prandtl number 0.02. The base state is axisymmetric and steady state. Linear stability predicts the character of flow transitions and the value of Re FZ , the thermocapillary Reynolds number, at which instabilities occur. Previous linear stability findings show that application of a steady, axial magnetic field stabilizes the base state. Previous three-dimensional simulations with no magnetic field predict a first transition that agrees well with linear stability theory. However, these simulations also demonstrated that continued time integration at just slightly higher Re FZ leads to what appears to be periodic flow. Closer inspection and comparison with linear stability theory revealed that this apparent periodicity was actually competition between two steady modes with different axial symmetries. Here an axial magnetic field is applied in three-dimensional simulations and it is verified that the magnetic field does have the intended effect of stabilizing the flow and removing modal competition. The azimuthal flow shows excellent agreement with eigenvectors predicted by linear stability theory.  相似文献

This paper presents an investigation of the modeling of the process of pyrolytic laser-induced chemical vapor deposition (LCVD) applied to study the Soret effect. LCVD is a thermally activated process characterized by strongly coupled mass and energy transport phenomena, together with chemical reactions, which are difficult to investigate experimentally. A physical and numerical model based on a commercial computational fluid dynamics package is developed and used to simulate a reactor operating at conditions of room temperature and pressure. The proposed numerical methodology will allow us to assess and analyze the effect of various factors controlling the process, and in particular the Soret effect. This numerical model is validated by comparison with the measured growth rate of the fiber. While several studies have proposed simulations of the LCVD process, this is among the first attempts at including the Soret effect in the numerical modeling at the micro-scale level. It is expected that the fundamental insights thus obtained will guide experimental investigations which can be applied to establish reactor design and process control guidelines.  相似文献

Dot array and line patterns of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were successfully grown by laser-induced chemical vapor deposition (LCVD) on a transparent substrate at room temperature. In the proposed technique, a Nd:YVO4 laser with a wavelength of 532 nm irradiates the backside of multiple catalyst layers (Ni/Al/Cr) through a transparent substrate to induce a local temperature rise, thereby allowing the direct writing of dense dot and line patterns of MWCNTs below 10 μm in size to be produced with uniform density on the controlled positions. In this LCVD method, a multiple-catalyst-layer with a Cr thermal layer is the central component for enabling the growth of dense MWCNTs with good spatial resolution.  相似文献

Theoretical and experimental research, on the previously unresolved instability occurring along the slip stream of a shock-wave Mach reflection, is presented. Growth rates of the large-scale Kelvin-Helmholtz shear flow instability are used to model the evolution of the slip-stream instability in ideal gas, thus indicating secondary small-scale growth of the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability as the cause for the slip-stream thickening. The model is validated through experiments measuring the instability growth rates for a range of Mach numbers and reflection wedge angles. Good agreement is found for Reynolds numbers of Re 2 x 10(4). This work demonstrates, for the first time, the use of large-scale models of the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability in modeling secondary turbulent mixing in hydrodynamic flows, a methodology which could be further implemented in many important secondary mixing processes.  相似文献

In this paper, we numerically studied the late-time evolutional mechanism of three-dimensional (3D) single-mode immiscible Rayleigh–Taylor instability (RTI) by using an improved lattice Boltzmann multiphase method implemented on graphics processing units. The influences of extensive dimensionless Reynolds numbers and Atwood numbers on phase interfacial dynamics, spike and bubble growth were investigated in details. The longtime numerical experiments indicate that the development of 3D singlemode RTI with a high Reynolds number can be summarized into four different stages: linear growth stage, saturated velocity growth stage, reacceleration stage and turbulent mixing stage. A series of complex interfacial structures with large topological changes can be observed at the turbulent mixing stage, which always preserve the symmetries with respect to the middle axis for a low Atwood number, and the lines of symmetry within spike and bubble are broken as the Atwood number is increased. Five statistical methods for computing the spike and bubble growth rates were then analyzed to reveal the growth law of 3D single-mode RTI in turbulent mixing stage. It is found that the spike late-time growth rate shows an overall increase with the Atwood number, while the bubble growth rate experiences a slight decrease with the Atwood number at first and then basically maintains a steady value of around 0.1. When the Reynolds number decreases, the later stages cannot be reached gradually and the evolution of phase interface presents a laminar flow state.  相似文献

An analytical solution was derived from a two-dimensional heat conduction model with non-uniform boundary conditions for a side-pumped, side-cooled cylindrical laser rod. The convective heat transfer coefficient and the spatially varying fluid temperature were determined from the theoretical solutions or experimental correlations of convective heat transfer in an annular passage with prescribed heat fluxes. The first term of the analytical solution coincides with the result of the one-dimensional model. The other terms indicate that the axial temperature-rise in a laser rod has positive correlations with the axial coolant temperature-rise, the radial Biot number and the length-to-radius ratio of the laser rod. Subsequently, a conjugate numerical simulation that couples up the fluid convection and the solid conduction was performed. Compared with the analytical solution, the conjugate numerical simulation better exhibits the entrance effects of flow and heat transfer; therefore, it may provide more accurate solution in specific cases. We demonstrate extended axial flow velocity detection range in a time-domain Doppler optical coherence tomography (DOCT) system using a modified Kasai velocity estimator with computations in both the axial and transverse directions. For a DOCT system with an 8 kHz rapid-scanning optical delay line, bidirectional flow experiments showed a maximum detectable speed of >56 cm/s using the axial Kasai estimator without the occurrence of aliasing, while the transverse Kasai estimator preserved the approximately 7 microm/s minimum detectable velocity to slow flow. By using a combination of transverse Kasai and axial Kasai estimators, the velocity detection dynamic range was over 100 dB. Through a fiber-optic endoscopic catheter, in vivoM-mode transesophageal imaging of the pulsatile blood flow in rat aorta was demonstrated, for what is for the first time to our knowledge, with measured peak systolic blood flow velocity of >1 m/s, while maintaining good sensitivity to detect aortic wall motion at <2 mm/s, using this 2D Kasai technique.  相似文献

用三维激光多普勒测速系统测量了低速大尺寸单级压气机小流量状态转子内尖区三维紊流流场。小流量状态下叶尖泄漏涡产生于更靠近转子叶片前缘,旋涡强度大,发展迅速,在转子内距离前缘约20%轴向弦长的截面达到最强,在80%轴向弦长附近发生破裂。泄漏涡是造成转子内尖区流动阻塞和紊流脉动的主要因素之一。在约75%弦长的轴向截面,吸力面角区发生旋涡流动,造成较强的流动阻塞和紊流脉动。  相似文献

In-plane vibrations of an elastic rod clamped at both extremities are studied. The rod is modeled as an extensible planar Kirchhoff elastic rod under large displacements and rotations. Equilibrium configurations and vibrations around these configurations are computed analytically in the incipient post-buckling regime. Of particular interest is the variation of the first mode frequency as the load is increased through the buckling threshold. The loading type is found to have a crucial importance as the first mode frequency is shown to behave singularly in the zero thickness limit in the case of prescribed axial displacement, whereas a regular behavior is found in the case of prescribed axial load.  相似文献

This paper presents an outline of the theory for the dynamics of clusters of independently supported flexible cylinders in axial flow, and an extensive discussion of the behaviour of such systems with increasing flow velocity, with special emphasis placed on the modal forms of free coupled motions of the cylinders and on the onset of instabilities. Results of an experimental study of the problem are also presented, involving systems of two, three or four cylinders supported at both ends and positioned symmetrically in the cylindrical test section of a water tunnel; experiments were conducted with different inter-cylinder gaps and support conditions. Both theory and experiment show that with increasing flow the system loses stability by buckling in one of its coupled modes, commonly in a pattern where cylinders move towards one another symmetrically, maximum displacement occurring just downstream of their midpoints. With increasing flow, theory predicts that other buckling instabilities are superimposed on the first; in the experiments the system remains buckled, changing modal patterns constantly; some of them correspond to those predicted by theory. At sufficiently high flow, oscillatory motion is observed, corresponding to theoretical flutter. Theory and experiment agree qualitatively in most essential features of the dynamical behaviour of the system, and quantitative agreement in the critical flow velocities for the onset of the first buckling instability is remarkably good.  相似文献
