We study nilmanifolds admitting Anosov automorphisms by applying elementary properties of algebraic units in number fields to the associated Anosov Lie algebras. We identify obstructions to the existence of Anosov Lie algebras. The case of 13-dimensional Anosov Lie algebras is worked out as an illustration of the technique. Also, we recapture the following known results: (1) Every 7-dimensional Anosov nilmanifold is toral, and (2) every 8-dimensional Anosov Lie algebra with 3 or 5-dimensional derived algebra contains an abelian factor.  相似文献

We introduce obstructions to the existence of a calibrated G2-structure on a Lie algebra g of dimension seven, not necessarily nilpotent. In particular, we prove that if there is a Lie algebra epimorphism from g to a six-dimensional Lie algebra h with kernel contained in the center of g, then h has a symplectic form. As a consequence, we obtain a classification of the nilpotent Lie algebras that admit a calibrated G2-structure.  相似文献

Let L be an n-dimensional non-abelian nilpotent Lie algebra and $ s(L) = \frac{1} {2}(n - 1)(n - 2) + 1 - \dim M(L) $ s(L) = \frac{1} {2}(n - 1)(n - 2) + 1 - \dim M(L) where M(L) is the Schur multiplier of L. In [Niroomand P., Russo F., A note on the Schur multiplier of a nilpotent Lie algebra, Comm. Algebra (in press)] it has been shown that s(L) ≥ 0 and the structure of all nilpotent Lie algebras has been determined when s(L) = 0. In the present paper, we will characterize all finite dimensional nilpotent Lie algebras with s(L) = 1; 2.  相似文献

We compute the set of all rational forms up to isomorphism for some real nilpotent Lie algebras of dimension 8. This is part of the classification of nilmanifolds admitting an Anosov diffeomorphism in dimension at most 8. We find examples of nilpotent n-Lie algebras and prove n-Lie analogs of classical group theory and Lie algebra results. As an example we show that a nilpotent ideal I of class c in a n-Lie algebra A with A/I 2 nilpotent of class d is nilpotent and find a bound on the class of A. We also find that some classical group theory and Lie algebra results do not hold in n-Lie algebras. In particular, non-nilpotent n-Lie algebras can admit a regular automorphism of order p, and the sum of nilpotent ideals need not be nilpotent.  相似文献

We study the group of nonlinear automorphisms for (k, n) quadrics. We prove that this group is nilpotent and describe the multiplication law for this group in terms of the corresponding Lie algebra. For nonlinear automorphisms of (3,3) quadrics, explicit formulas are obtained.Translated fromMatematicheskie Zametki, Vol. 59, No. 2, pp. 164–173, February, 1996.  相似文献

Over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero simple Lie algebras admit outer automorphisms of order 3 if and only if they are of type D4. Moreover, thereare two conjugacy classes of such automorphisms. Among orthogonal Lie algebras over arbitrary fields of characteristic zero, only orthogonal Lie algebras relative to quadratic norm forms of Cayley algebras admit outer automorphisms of order 3. We give a complete list of conjugacy classes of outer automorphisms of order 3 for orthogonal Lie algebras over arbitrary fields of characteristic zero. For the norm form of a given Cayley algebra, one class is associated with the Cayley algebra and the others with central simple algebras of degree 3 with involution of the second kind such that the cohomological invariant of the involution is the norm form.  相似文献

We construct examples of two-step and three-step nilpotent Lie groups whose automorphism groups are ``small' in the sense of either not having a dense orbit for the action on the Lie group, or being nilpotent (the latter being stronger). From the results we also get new examples of compact manifolds covered by two-step simply connected nilpotent Lie groups which do not admit Anosov automorphisms.

One of the most profound results in the theory of Lie algebras states that any two Cartan subalgebras of a finite-dimensional Lie algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0 are conjugate relative to the group of special automorphisms generated by the exponents of nilpotent inner derivations. Using some new ideas, we prove an analog of this statement for n-ary n-Lie algebras. Other interesting properties of Cartan algebras, which are known to be shared by Lie algebras, are carried over to n-Lie algebras.Translated fromAlgebra i Logika, Vol. 34, No. 4, pp. 405–419, July-August, 1995.  相似文献

We classify the (n ? 5)-filiform Lie algebras which have the additional property of a non-abelian derived subalgebra. Moreover we show that if a (n ? 5)-filiform Lie algebra is characteristically nilpotent, then it must be 2-abelian.  相似文献

In this paper, we study sheets of symmetric Lie algebras through their Slodowy slices. In particular, we introduce a notion of slice induction of nilpotent orbits which coincides with the parabolic induction in the Lie algebra case. We also study in more detail the sheets of the non-trivial symmetric Lie algebra of type G2. We characterize their singular loci and provide a nice desingularization lying in so 7.  相似文献

Let L be a Lie algebra, and Der z (L) denote the set of all central derivations of L, that is, the set of all derivations of L mapping L into the center. In this paper, by using the notion of isoclinism, we study the center of Der z (L) for nilpotent Lie algebras with nilindex 2. We also give a characterization of stem Lie algebras by their central derivations. In fact we show that for non-abelian nilpotent Lie algebras of finite dimension and any nilpotent Lie algebra with nilindex 2 (not finite dimensional in general), Der z (L) is abelian if and only if L is a stem Lie algebra.  相似文献

In 1990 Kantor defined the conservative algebra W(n) of all algebras (i.e. bilinear maps) on the n-dimensional vector space. If n>1, then the algebra W(n) does not belong to any well-known class of algebras (such as associative, Lie, Jordan, or Leibniz algebras). We describe automorphisms, one-sided ideals, and idempotents of W(2). Also similar problems are solved for the algebra W2 of all commutative algebras on the 2-dimensional vector space and for the algebra S2 of all commutative algebras with trace zero multiplication on the 2-dimensional vector space.  相似文献

We construct all solvable Lie algebras with a specific n-dimensional nilradical nn,3 which contains the previously studied filiform (n-2)-dimensional nilpotent algebra nn-2,1 as a subalgebra but not as an ideal. Rather surprisingly it turns out that the classification of such solvable algebras can be deduced from the classification of solvable algebras with the nilradical nn-2,1. Also the sets of invariants of coadjoint representation of nn,3 and its solvable extensions are deduced from this reduction. In several cases they have polynomial bases, i.e. the invariants of the respective solvable algebra can be chosen to be Casimir invariants in its enveloping algebra.  相似文献

The set of all m-ary algebra structures on a given vector space affords, by the change of basis action, a representation of the general linear group. The invariants of a given subgroup are identified with those algebras admitting that subgroup as algebra automorphisms. Any finite dimensional representation of the additive group as automorphisms is obtained as the exponential of a nilpotent derivation. The latter can be embedded in the Lie algebra sl(2) so that the maximal vectors in an irreducible decomposition of the set of algebras as an sl(2) module are the invariants of the given action of the additive group. Dimension formulas and explicit bases are computed for the space of algebras with certain additive group actions. Employing the equivalence of the categories of m-ary algebras and systems of autonomous mth order homogeneous differential equations, the algebraic results are connected to the construction of first integrals and semi-invariants.  相似文献

We study codimension growth of infinite dimensional Lie algebras over a field of characteristic zero. We prove that if a Lie algebra L is an extension of a nilpotent algebra by a finite dimensional semisimple algebra then the PI-exponent of L exists and is a positive integer.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We study the varieties of Lie algebra laws and their subvarieties of nilpotent Lie algebra laws. We classify all degenerations of (almost all) five-step and six-step nilpotent seven-dimensional complex Lie algebras. One of the main tools is the use of trivial and adjoint cohomology of these algebras. In addition, we give some new results on the varieties of complex Lie algebra laws in low dimension.  相似文献
