在中性原子的磁囚禁实验中,磁阱线圈的电流噪声会激发磁阱中的原子运动,势必对原子团的温度和寿命产生不可忽视的影响。对于非简谐阱,这种激发具有能量选择特性,它又取决于电流噪声的频谱分布。选择了实验中常用的四极阱为研究对象,用直接模拟蒙特卡罗方法来模拟四极阱中原子运动的参变激发现象,得到了原子温度与原子数损失随激发频率的变化关系,并进一步计算了两个共振峰处原子温度随调制时间和调制深度的变化曲线。此外,还研究了弹性碰撞速率对参变激发过程中原子温度上升的影响。这些结果对四极阱参变激发的实验有较好的参考价值。  相似文献

When parametrically excited, a harmonic system reveals a nonlinear dynamical behaviour which is common to non-deterministic phenomena. The ion motion in a Penning trap -- which can be regarded as a system of harmonic oscillators -- offers the possibility to study anharmonic characteristics when perturbed by an external periodical driving force. In our experiment we excited an electron cloud stored in a Penning trap by applying an additional quadrupole r.f. field to the endcaps. We observed phenomena such as individual and center-of-mass oscillations of an electron cloud and fractional frequencies, so-called subharmonics, to the axial oscillation. The latter show a characteristic threshold behaviour. This phenomenon can be explained with the existence of a damping mechanism affecting the electron cloud; a minimum value of the excitation amplitude is required to overcome the damping. We could theoretically explain the observed phenomenon by numerically calculating the solutions of the damped differential Mathieu equation. This numerical analysis accounts for the fact that for a weak damping of the harmonic system we observed an even-odd-staggering of the the different orders of the subharmonics in the axial excitation spectrum.Received: 22 September 2003, Published online: 2 December 2003PACS: 52.27.Jt Nonneutral plasmas - 82.80.Qx Ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry  相似文献

We have examined experimentally the motional spectrum of an electron cloud confined in a Penning trap. When the axial oscillation is excited by a radio frequency field the resonance exhibits a double structure. Both components depend differently on the number of trapped electrons and have different shape and width. We conclude that one of them corresponds to the excitation of the individual electrons while the other is the center-of-mass mode of the cloud. The threshold behaviour of the center-of-mass resonance suggests that it is a parametric instability of a Mathieu type equation of motion. Antihydrogen production by charge exchange reaction between positronium (Ps) and antiprotons requires an efficient excitation of Ps atoms up to high-n levels (Rydberg levels). We propose a two-step laser light excitation, the first from ground to n?=?3 and the second from this level to a Rydberg level n?>?15. In this study it is assumed that a Ps cloud is produced by positrons hitting a target converter located in a Penning-Malmberg trap within a uniform ~ 1 T magnetic field. We model the optical transition structure by taking into account Doppler and motional Stark effects. The predicted efficiency for population deposition in high n states is of ~30%.  相似文献

We report the direct excitation of the highly forbidden (6s2) 1S0 <--> (6s6p) 3P0 optical transition in two odd isotopes of neutral ytterbium. As the excitation laser frequency is scanned, absorption is detected by monitoring the depletion from an atomic cloud at approximately 70 microK in a magneto-optical trap. The measured frequency in 171Yb (F=1/2) is 518,295,836,591.6 +/- 4.4 kHz. The measured frequency in 173Yb (F=5/2) is 518,294,576,847.6 +/- 4.4 kHz. Measurements are made with a femtosecond-laser frequency comb calibrated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology cesium fountain clock and represent nearly a 10(6)-fold reduction in uncertainty. The natural linewidth of these J=0 to J=0 transitions is calculated to be approximately 10 mHz, making them well suited to support a new generation of optical atomic clocks based on confinement in an optical lattice.  相似文献

Using the eigenmode analysis, we show that the frequency shift of the radiation emitted from a spherical cloud of two-level atoms in a scalar photon theory model, the dynamical Cooperative Lamb Shift (CLS), is dependent on the size of the sphere, the angle of emission, the instant of observation, the degree of initial excitation and the form of the initial state function.  相似文献

This paper observes the parametric excitation on atom chip by measuring the trap loss when applying a parametric modulation. By modulating the current in chip wires, it modulates not only the trap frequency but also the trap position. It shows that the strongest resonance occurs when the modulation frequency equals to the trap frequency. The resonance amplitude increases exponentially with modulation depth. Because the Z-trap is an anharmonic trap, there exists energy selective excitation which would cause parametric cooling. We confirm this effect by observing the temperature of atom cloud dropping.  相似文献

The electron and nuclear dynamics of C60 fullerenes irradiated with femtosecond laser pulses are investigated with photoelectron and photoion spectroscopy. The focus of this work is the detailed exploration of the population mechanism of Rydberg levels within the excitation process of neutral C60. The effect of excitation wavelength, intensity, chirp, and polarization on the kinetic energy distribution of photoelectrons in single-pulse experiments gives first insight into the underlying processes. In combination with time-resolved two-color pump-probe spectroscopy depending on either pump, or probe pulse intensity, a more complete picture of the interaction can be drawn. The results point towards a very interesting but nevertheless complex behavior including four steps: (i) non-adiabatic multielectron excitation of the HOMO (hu) → LUMO+1 (t1g) transition; (ii) thermalization within the hot electron cloud on a time scale below 100 fs, followed by a coupling of energy to vibrational modes of the molecule via doorway state(s); (iii) population of electronically excited Rydberg states by multiphoton absorption, and (iv) single photon ionization from the excited Rydberg states. This excitation process results in a characteristic sequence of photoelectron lines in the photoemission spectra. The comparison of the experimental results with recent theoretical work gives convincing evidence that non-adiabatic multielectron dynamics (NMED) plays a key role for the understanding of the response of C60 to short-pulse laser radiation.  相似文献

Spontaneous excitation of a dust-particle density wave is observed in a dust cloud levitating in the region of the diffused edge of an rf inductive low-pressure gas-discharge plasma. The main physical parameters of this wave and of the background plasma are measured. The analytic model proposed for the observed phenomenon is based on the theory of dust sound and successfully correlates with experimental data in a wide range of experimental conditions. The effect of variable charge of dust particles on the evolution of the observed dust-plasma instability is studied analytically. It is shown that the necessary condition for the development of the dust-acoustic instability is the presence of a dc electric field in the dust cloud region.  相似文献

We study surface modes of the condensate in the presence of a rotating thermal cloud in an axisymmetric trap. By considering collisions that transfer atoms between the condensate and the noncondensate, we find that m>0 modes, which rotate in the same sense as the thermal cloud, damp less strongly than m<0 modes, where m is the polarity of the excitation. We show that above a critical angular rotation frequency, equivalent to the Landau stability criterion, m>0 modes become dynamically unstable, leading to the possibility of vortex nucleation. We also generalize our stability analysis to treat the case where the stationary state of the condensate already possesses a single vortex.  相似文献

We report on polariton condensation in photonic molecules formed by two coupled micropillars. We show that the condensation process is strongly affected by the interaction with the cloud of uncondensed excitons and thus strongly depends on the exact localization of these excitons within the molecule. Under symmetric excitation conditions, condensation is triggered on both binding and antibinding polariton states of the molecule. On the opposite, when the excitonic cloud is injected in one of the two pillars, condensation on a metastable state is observed and a total transfer of the condensate into one of the micropillars can be achieved. Our results highlight the crucial role played by relaxation kinetics in the condensation process.  相似文献

经式8-羟基喹啉铝(mer-Alq3)是一种光电性能优良的小分子有机半导体发光材料.本文采用密度泛函理论(DFT)B3LYP/6-31G*方法和基组对其进行结构优化,计算并研究了该分子的红外光谱、拉曼光谱和前线轨道.计算得到的红外光谱、拉曼光谱均与实验相符.前线轨道表明基态最高占据轨道(HOMO)的电子云主要集中在苯酚环,最低未占据轨道(LUMO)的电子云主要集中在吡啶环.用含时密度泛函理论(TDDFT)计算得到紫外-可见吸收光谱,采用空穴-电子分析法研究了电子激发特征.结果表明:电子从基态到激发态的跃迁,主要是8-羟基喹啉环内或环间的电荷转移,以π-π*跃迁为主,包括局域激发和电荷转移激发两种类型.本工作对mer-Alq3分子发光机理提出更深入的认识,能为进一步提高该分子发光效率和调控分子的发光范围提供一定的理论指导.  相似文献

First experimental investigations are reported on nonlinear beam shaping due to the interaction between an intense laser beam and a cloud of laser cooled rubidium atoms. Resonant excitation of the F = 3 ↔ F = 4 hyperfine transition is considered. The single-pass interaction through the cold vapor causes an increase in the laser beam intensity in the forward direction (zero transverse wavevector component) when observed in Fourier space, for sufficiently high values of saturation. A qualitative explanation of the observations based on a two-level model for a resonantly excited transition proves acceptable. The observations are compatible with an interpretation based on nonlinear index-induced focusing of an incident beam with curved wavefront, as is used in z-scan measurements. Simple physical considerations allow us to deduce the conditions for the observability of optical patterns in the beam transmitted by a cold atomic cloud.  相似文献

Experimental studies of the photomeson production on the nucleon provide an abundant amount of data to address key issues of its structure. Depending on the selected channels and kinematics, different aspects can be investigated. The measurements of charged channels at low t constitute a large part of the cross section and exhibit a special sensitivity of the meson cloud. These contributions can be strongly suppressed by using a polarized beam and target. Instead, the excitation of resonances are emphasized in this case. The choice of neutral channels in the final state shows also dominant sensitivities for resonance excitation. The sequential decay of resonances can be studied systematically for the first time.  相似文献

+ ions. The Ca+ ions are trapped in a miniature rf Paul trap and irradiated by light from a frequency-doubled diode laser at 397 nm and by light from a diode laser at 866 nm. We are able to cool a single ion and observe its fluorescence continuously with the laser diode locked to the external frequency-doubling cavity. Quantum jumps in the fluorescence light of a single ion and of a small cloud of five ions have been induced by driving the “clock” transition at 729 nm. 应用提拉法技术,采用BeO∶Al2O3∶MnO摩尔比为100∶99.85∶0.30的化学组分配比和二次化料过程,选用约60℃的固液界面温度梯度与1 mm/h生长速度等工艺参量,成功地生长出了Mn2 离子掺杂、无气泡、无云层和核心、尺寸约45 mm×80mm的粉红色Mn2 ∶BeAl2O4晶体。测定了不同部位晶体的激发光谱与荧光光谱。沿着晶体生长方向,晶体颜色逐步变深。在Mn2 ∶BeAl2O4荧光谱中观测到发光中心为543nm的荧光带,这归属于Mn2 的4T1(4G)→6A1(6S)能级跃迁所产生。在其激发光谱中观测到218nm的激发峰,这归属于电子从Mn2 基态到导带的电荷转移跃迁所致。从Mn2 离子的绿色发射情况可以推断Mn2 处于晶体中四面体场中,它取代晶体中Be2 离子的格位。从不同部位晶体的激发峰强度与颜色变化可以得到Mn2 在BeAl2O4晶体中的有效分凝系数小于1。  相似文献

We have performed systematic measurements of the dynamics of laser-cooled 40Ca+ ions confined in a Penning trap and driven by a rotating dipole field (‘rotating wall’). The trap used is a copy of the one used in the SPECTRAP experiment located at the HITRAP facility at GSI, Germany. The size and shape of the ion cloud has been monitored using a CCD camera to image the fluorescence light resulting from excitation by the cooling laser. We have varied the experimental conditions such as amplitude and frequency of the rotating wall drive as well as the trapping parameters. The rotating wall can be used for a radial compression of the ion cloud thus increasing the ion density in the trap. We have also observed plasma mode excitations in agreement with theoretical expectations. This work will allow us to define the optimum parameters for high compression of the ions as needed for precision spectroscopy of forbidden transitions.  相似文献

在广东沿海地区,用无狭缝光栅摄谱仪获得了云对地闪电回击过程的光谱。经过光谱特征分析和谱线辨认,依据测得的谱线相对强度以及多组态Dirac-Fock方法得到的谱线跃迁参数,采用多谱线法,对每个闪电回击通道不同高度处的温度进行了定量计算。结果表明,强闪电放电过程对应的通道温度较高;分析通道不同高度处的温度值,发现对大多数闪电,同一回击通道随高度的增加温度略呈减小趋势;与青海高原相比,广东沿海地区强闪电较多, 光谱上激发能高的一次电离氧离子的跃迁谱线明显增多。  相似文献
