A magnetic field-pressure-temperature (H-P-T) phase diagram for first-order antiferromagnetic (AFM) to ferromagnetic (FM) transitions in Fe(49)(Rh(0.93)Pd(0.07))(51) has been constructed using resistivity measurements under simultaneous application of magnetic field (up to 8 T) and pressure (up to 20 kbar). The temperature dependence of resistivity (ρ-T) shows that the width of the transition and the extent of hysteresis decreases with pressure and increases with magnetic field. By exploiting opposing trends of dT(N)/dP and dT(N)/dH (where T(N) is the first-order transition temperature), the relative effects of temperature, magnetic field and pressure on disorder-broadened first-order transitions has been studied. For this, a set of H and P values are chosen for which T(N)(H(1),P(1)) = T(N)(H(2),P(2)). Measurements for such combinations of H and P show that the temperature dependence of resistivity is similar, i.e. the broadening (in temperature) of transition as well as the extent of hysteresis remains independent of H and P. Isothermal magnetoresistance measurements under various constant pressures show that even though the critical field required for AFM-FM transition depends on applied pressure, the extent of hysteresis as well as transition width (in magnetic field) remains constant with varying pressure.  相似文献

Below its ordering temperature (T N = 90 K), bulk bcc Eu has a helical magnetic state with propagation vectors along the three equivalent 〈100〉 directions. In contrast, epitaxial (110)Eu films exhibit a unique magnetic ordering: the domain with a magnetic helix propagating along the in-plane [001] direction vanishes on cooling, at the expense of other domains with helices propagating along [100] and [010]. This paper is devoted to the study of the stability of the magnetic domains in an external magnetic field using neutron scattering experiments and macroscopic magnetization measurements. The helix propagating along the [001] direction can be restored by the application of an external field along this direction. On the contrary, when a magnetic field is applied along an intermediate direction, specifically [10], the domain with a helix propagating along [001] is suppressed. Both effects depend on the film thickness. They are explained if one considers that, because of the low magnetic anisotropy of Eu, a helix with a propagation vector parallel to (or close to) the applied magnetic field is energetically more favourable than cycloidal structures with unchanged propagation vectors. Finally, the amplitudes of the propagation vectors and their directions (that are modified in films compared to bulk) do not vary under magnetic field.  相似文献

The ac susceptibility of single crystalline tetragonal EuFe2As2, EuFe2As1.4P0.6, and EuFe1.715Co0.285As2 has been measured over the temperature and hydrostatic (He-gas) pressure ranges 10–60 K and 0–0.8 GPa, respectively. For all three samples the magnetic ordering temperature (17–19 K) from the Eu sublattice increases linearly with pressure, presumably due to the enhanced exchange coupling between Eu-layers. No evidence for a superconducting transition was observed in the susceptibility for any sample over the measured temperature/pressure range.  相似文献

We studied the structural properties of an orbital-spin-coupled spinel oxide, MnV2O4, mainly by single-crystal x-ray diffraction measurement. It was found that a structural phase transition from cubic to tetragonal and ferrimagnetic ordering occur at the same temperature (Ts,TN=57 K). The structural phase transition was induced also by magnetic field above Ts. In addition, magnetic-field-induced alignment of tetragonal domains results in large magnetostriction below Ts. We also found that the structural phase transition is caused by the antiferro-type ordering of the V t2g orbitals.  相似文献

This paper presents the results of a study of the thermal properties of monoclinic single-crystal RbDy(WO4)2 at temperatures of 2–15 K and in magnetic fields up to 6 T. From the results of measurements of the heat capacity and thermograms, two structural phase transitions are detected, at T c1=4.9 K and T c2=9.0 K. The transformation from the high-temperature phase to the low-temperature phase occurs via an intermediate phase. The field dependences of the critical temperatures are found for various magnetic-field orientations. H-T phase diagrams are constructed for Ha and Hc. An anomalous increase (by almost an order of magnitude) of the relaxation time of the system, associated with structural instability of the crystal lattice, is detected in the region of the structural phase transitions. The effect of an external dc electric field on the electrodynamic properties of a one-dimensional magnetic photonic crystal (MPC) with antiferromagnetic interlayer ordering is analyzed within the effective-medium method with regard to the quadratic magneto-optical interaction. The magnetizations of adjacent tangentially magnetized ferromagnetic layers are antiparallel. In particular, the effect of a magnetic compensation point on the character of polariton dynamics in this type of MPCs is revealed.  相似文献

Magnetic ordering and Kondo behavior coexist in three (Ce,Al)-based compounds: CeAl2, Ce3Al, and Ce3Al11. A common feature apparently independent of crystal structures also prevails in terms of the size-induced transition between these two magnetic phenomena. As the particle size is reduced to nanoscale, the specific heat anomaly associated with the magnetic ordering diminishes. Although the Kondo temperature also decreases, the entropy associated with Kondo anomaly exhibits a large increase. This results in an enhancement of the Kondo behavior and an increased coefficient gamma of the linear term in specific heat. For example, in 80 A CeAl2 the extrapolated r(0) reaches 9000 mJ mol Ce-1 K-2.  相似文献

Switching behaviors of magnetic vortex cores under external magnetic field in submicron circular permalloy disks have been systematically studied by using micromagnetic simulations. Simulation results show that the vortex core is stable in out-of-plane field even when it is located at the edge of the disk. The out-of-plane switching field Hsw is strongly dependent on the thickness of the disk. The core polarity and the vortex chirality can be modulated simultaneously on purpose by using a tilted field far smaller than the out-of-plane switching field Hsw. Moreover, it is found that the core polarities in asymmetric disks do not follow the direction of the z projection of the external saturation field.  相似文献

The charge-transfer complex MEM(TCNQ)2 is a spin-Peierls system with a non-magnetic, singlet ground state at T=0. We report high-field magnetization data which provide some evidence for a new magnetic spin-Peierls phase at fields above 190 kOe. The three-dimensional ordering temperatures of the quasi-one-dimensional antiferromagnet (CH3)4NMnCl3 containing 0, 0.13, 0.25 and 0.48 at% Cu2+ ions were studied as a function of an external magnetic field up to 60 kOe by means of proton NMR. A strong increase of TN(H) with H was found even for the impure system. The TN versus H curve for the pure system cam be explained by introducing a simple form for the effect of the field on the correlation length, ξ(T, H) = ξ(T) × [1+(λJ/kT)H2], while that for the impure system is unlike the one for the pure system.  相似文献

In Sr2RuO4 the spin excitation spectrum is dominated by incommensurate fluctuations at q = (0.3 0.3q(z)), which arise from Fermi-surface nesting. We show that upon Ti substitution, known to suppress superconductivity, a short range magnetic order develops with a propagation vector (0.307 0.307 1). In Sr2Ru0.91Ti0.09O4, the ordered moment points along the c direction. This finding shows that superconducting Sr2RuO4 is extremely close to an incommensurate spin density wave instability.  相似文献

By using the concept of negativity, we investigate the thermal entanglement of a two-spin (1/2, 3/2) mixed-spin Heisenberg XX chain with an inhomogeneous external magnetic field. We obtain the analytical results of entanglement of this model. For the case of uniform magnetic field, we find that the critical temperature is higher than the results of the spin-1/2 chain and (1/2,1) mixed-spin chain. And by adjusting the nonuniform parameter b, one is able to obtain more entanglement at a higher temperature.  相似文献

In a circular dot of permalloy with an appropriate size, a vortex structure with perpendicular (turned-up) magnetization at the core is realized. The existence of the perpendicular magnetization spot has been confirmed and the direction of the magnetization, up or down, has been determined by magnetic force microscopy (MFM) for permalloy dots with the diameter of 0.1–1 μm. The switching field of turned-up magnetization is determined by applying external fields perpendicularly and in tilted directions to the plane. By comparing the MFM results and the magnetization curves measured by a SQUID magnetometer, the switching process of turned-up magnetization is argued.  相似文献
