A retrial queue accepting two types of positive customers and negative arrivals, mixed priorities, unreliable server and multiple vacations is considered. In case of blocking the first type customers can be queued whereas the second type customers leave the system and try their luck again after a random time period. When a first type customer arrives during the service of a second type customer, he either pushes the customer in service in orbit (preemptive) or he joins the queue waiting to be served (non-preemptive). Moreover negative arrivals eliminate the customer in service and cause server’s abnormal breakdown, while in addition normal breakdowns may also occur. In both cases the server is sent immediately for repair. When, upon a service or repair completion, the server finds no first type customers waiting in queue remains idle and activates a timer. If timer expires before an arrival of a positive customer the server departs for multiple vacations. For such a system the stability conditions and the system state probabilities are investigated both in a transient and in a steady state. A stochastic decomposition result is also presented. Interesting applications are also discussed. Numerical results are finally obtained and used to investigate system performance.  相似文献

We analyze an unreliable M/M/1 retrial queue with infinite-capacity orbit and normal queue. Retrial customers do not rejoin the normal queue but repeatedly attempt to access the server at i.i.d. intervals until it is found functioning and idle. We provide stability conditions as well as several stochastic decomposability results.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a single server retrial queue where the server is subject to breakdowns and repairs. New customers arrive at the service station according to a Poisson process and demand i.i.d. service times. If the server is idle, the incoming customer starts getting served immediately. If the server is busy, the incoming customer conducts a retrial after an exponential amount of time. The retrial customers behave independently of each other. The server stays up for an exponential time and then fails. Repair times have a general distribution. The failure/repair behavior when the server is idle is different from when it is busy. Two different models are considered. In model I, the failed server cannot be occupied and the customer whose service is interrupted has to either leave the system or rejoin the retrial group. In model II, the customer whose service is interrupted by a failure stays at the server and restarts the service when repair is completed. Model II can be handled as a special case of model I. For model I, we derive the stability condition and study the limiting behavior of the system by using the tools of Markov regenerative processes.Visiting from Department of Applied Mathematics, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Cheongryang, Seoul, Korea.  相似文献

An M/G/1 retrial queue with two-phase service and feedback is studied in this paper, where the server is subject to starting failures and breakdowns during service. Primary customers get in the system according to a Poisson process, and they will receive service immediately if the server is available upon arrival. Otherwise, they will enter a retrial orbit and are queued in the orbit in accordance with a first-come-first-served (FCFS) discipline. Customers are allowed to balk and renege at particular times. All customers demand the first “essential” service, whereas only some of them demand the second “multi-optional” service. It is assumed that the retrial time, service time and repair time of the server are all arbitrarily distributed. The necessary and sufficient condition for the system stability is derived. Using a supplementary variable method, the steady-state solutions for some queueing and reliability measures of the system are obtained.  相似文献

This paper deals with the steady state behaviour of an Mx/G/1 queue with general retrial time and Bernoulli vacation schedule for an unreliable server, which consists of a breakdown period and delay period. Here we assume that customers arrive according to compound Poisson processes. While the server is working with primary customers, it may breakdown at any instant and server will be down for short interval of time. Further concept of the delay time is also introduced. The primary customer finding the server busy, down or vacation are queued in the orbit in accordance with FCFS (first come first served) retrial policy. After the completion of a service, the server either goes for a vacation of random length with probability p or may continue to serve for the next customer, if any with probability (1 − p). We carry out an extensive analysis of this model. Finally, we obtain some important performance measures and reliability indices of this model.  相似文献

We consider anM/G/1 retrial queue with infinite waiting space in which arriving customers who find the server busy join either (a) the retrial group with probabilityp in order to seek service again after a random amount of time, or (b) the infinite waiting space with probabilityq(=1–p) where they wait to be served. The joint generating function of the numbers of customers in the two groups is derived by using the supplementary variable method. It is shown that our results are consistent with known results whenp=0 orp=1.  相似文献

In this paper we characterize the queue-length distribution as well as the waiting time distribution of a single-server queue which is subject to service interruptions. Such queues arise naturally in computer and communication problems in which customers belong to different classes and share a common server under some complicated service discipline. In such queues, the viewpoint of a given class of customers is that the server is not available for providing service some of the time, because it is busy serving customers from a different class. A natural special case of these queues is the class of preemptive priority queues. In this paper, we consider arrivals according the Markovian Arrival Process (MAP) and the server is not available for service at certain times. The service times are assumed to have a general distribution. We provide numerical examples to show that our methods are computationally feasible. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

A retrial queue accepting two types of customers with correlated batch arrivals and preemptive resume priorities is studied. The service times are arbitrarily distributed with a different distribution for each type of customer and the server takes a single vacation each time he becomes free. For such a model the state probabilities are obtained both in a transient and in a steady state. Finally, the virtual waiting time of an arbitrary ordinary customer in a steady state is analysed.  相似文献

This paper studies a discrete-time Geo/G/1 retrial queue where the server is subject to starting failures. We analyse the Markov chain underlying the regarded queueing system and present some performance measures of the system in steady-state. Then, we give two stochastic decomposition laws and find a measure of the proximity between the system size distributions of our model and the corresponding model without retrials. We also develop a procedure for calculating the distributions of the orbit and system size as well as the marginal distributions of the orbit size when the server is idle, busy or down. Besides, we prove that the M/G/1 retrial queue with starting failures can be approximated by its discrete-time counterpart. Finally, some numerical examples show the influence of the parameters on several performance characteristics. This work is supported by the DGINV through the project BFM2002-02189.  相似文献

The main aim of this paper is to study the steady state behavior of an M/G/1-type retrial queue in which there are two flows of arrivals namely ingoing calls made by regular customers and outgoing calls made by the server when it is idle. We carry out an extensive stationary analysis of the system, including stability condition, embedded Markov chain, steady state joint distribution of the server state and the number of customers in the orbit (i.e., the retrial group) and calculation of the first moments. We also obtain light-tailed asymptotic results for the number of customers in the orbit. We further formulate a more complicate but realistic model where the arrivals and the service time distributions are modeled in terms of the Markovian arrival process (MAP) and the phase (PH) type distribution.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a retrial queueing model with the server subject to starting failures. We first present the necessary and sufficient condition for the system to be stable and derive analytical results for the queue length distribution as well as some performance measures of the system in steady state. We show that the general stochastic decomposition law forM/G/1 vacation models also holds for the present system. Finally, we demonstrate that a few well known queueing models are special cases of the present model and discuss various interpretations of the stochastic decomposition law when applied to each of these special cases.Partially supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, grant OGP0046415.Partially supported by internal research grant of Mount Saint Vincent University.

This paper concerns a discrete-time Geo/Geo/1 retrial queue with both positive and negative customers where the server is subject to breakdowns and repairs due to negative arrivals. The arrival of a negative customer causes one positive customer to be killed if any is present, and simultaneously breaks the server down. The server is sent to repair immediately and after repair it is as good as new. The negative customer also causes the server breakdown if the server is found idle, but has no effect on the system if the server is under repair. We analyze the Markov chain underlying the queueing system and obtain its ergodicity condition. The generating function of the number of customers in the orbit and in the system are also obtained, along with the marginal distributions of the orbit size when the server is idle, busy or down. Finally, we present some numerical examples to illustrate the influence of the parameters on several performance characteristics of the system.  相似文献

We consider anM 2/G 2/1 type queueing system which serves two types of calls. In the case of blocking the first type customers can be queued whereas the second type customers must leave the service area but return after some random period of time to try their luck again. This model is a natural generalization of the classicM 2/G 2/1 priority queue with the head-of-theline priority discipline and the classicM/G/1 retrial queue. We carry out an extensive analysis of the system, including existence of the stationary regime, embedded Markov chain, stochastic decomposition, limit theorems under high and low rates of retrials and heavy traffic analysis.Visiting from: Department of Probability, Mechanics and Mathematics, Moscow State University, Moscow 119899, Russia.  相似文献

We consider a single server retrial queueing system in which each customer (primary or retrial customer) has discrete service times taking on value Dj with probability , and . An arriving primary customer who finds the server busy tries later. Moreover, each retrial customer has its own orbit, and the retrial customers try to enter the service independently of each other. We call this retrial queue an M/{Dn}/1 retrial queue. A necessary and sufficient condition for this system stability is given. In the steady state, we derive the joint distribution of the state of the server and the number of customers in the retrial orbits. The explicit expressions of some performance measures are given. In addition, the steady-state distribution of the waiting time is discussed.  相似文献

This paper deals with a single server retrial queueing system subject to active and independent breakdowns. The objective is to extend the results given independently by Aissani [1] and Kulkarni and Choi [15]. To this end, we introduce the concept of fundamental server period and an auxiliary queueing system with breakdowns and option for leaving the system. Then, we concentrate our attention on the limiting distribution of the system state. We obtain simplified expressions for the partial generating functions of the server state and the number of customers in the retrial group, a recursive scheme for computing the limiting probabilities and closed-form formulae for the second order partial moments. Some stochastic decomposition results are also investigated. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

An M/G/1 retrial queueing system with disasters and unreliable server is investigated in this paper. Primary customers arrive in the system according to a Poisson process, and they receive service immediately if the server is available upon their arrivals. Otherwise, they will enter a retrial orbit and try their luck after a random time interval. We assume the catastrophes occur following a Poisson stream, and if a catastrophe occurs, all customers in the system are deleted immediately and it also causes the server’s breakdown. Besides, the server has an exponential lifetime in addition to the catastrophe process. Whenever the server breaks down, it is sent for repair immediately. It is assumed that the service time and two kinds of repair time of the server are all arbitrarily distributed. By applying the supplementary variables method, we obtain the Laplace transforms of the transient solutions and also the steady-state solutions for both queueing measures and reliability quantities of interest. Finally, numerical inversion of Laplace transforms is carried out for the blocking probability of the system, and the effects of several system parameters on the blocking probability are illustrated by numerical inversion results.  相似文献
