A novel finite volume method is developed to investigate the axisymmetric convection flow and heat transfer of fractional viscoelastic fluid past a vertical cylinder. Fractional cylindrical governing equations are formulated by fractional Maxwell model and generalized Fourier's law. The velocity slip and temperature jump boundary conditions are considered across the fluid-solid interface. Numerical results are validated by exact solutions of special case with source terms. The effects of fractional derivative parameter and boundary condition parameters on flow and heat transfer characteristics are discussed. The viscoelastic fluid performs evident shear thickening property in the fractional Maxwell constitutive relation. Moreover, the boundary condition parameters have remarkable influence on velocity and temperature distributions.  相似文献

The aim of this article is to present the effects of transpiration on the unsteady two-dimensional boundary layer flow of non-Newtonian fluid passing through a stretching sheet in the presence of a first order constructive/destructive chemical reaction. The upper-convected Maxwell (UCM) model is used here to characterize the non-Newtonian behavior of the fluid. Using similarity solutions, the governing nonlinear partial differential equations are transformed into ordinary ones and are then solved numerically by the shooting method. The flow fields and mass transfer are significantly influenced by the governing parameters. The fluid velocity initially decreases as the unsteadiness parameter increases and the concentration decreases significantly due to the increase in the unsteadiness. The effect of increasing values of transpiration (suction) and the Maxwell parameter is to suppress the velocity field; however, the concentration is enhanced as transpiration (suction) and the Maxwell parameter increase. Also, it is found that the fluid velocity decreases as the magnetic parameter increases; however, the concentration increases in this case.  相似文献

In this paper, the classical von Kármán swirling flow problem due to a rotating disk is modeled and studied for the rate type Maxwell nanofluid together with heat and mass transfer mechanisms. The model under consideration predicts the relaxation time characteristics. The novel aspects of thermophoresis and Brownian motion features due to nanoparticles are investigated by employing an innovative Buongiorno’s model. The analysis further explores the impact of linear Rosseland radiation on heat transfer characteristics. The concept of boundary layer approximations is utilized to formulate the basic governing equations of Maxwell fluid. The dimensionless form of a system of ordinary differential equations is obtained through similarity approach adopted by von Kármán. The system of equations is integrated numerically in domain [0,∞) by using bvp midrich scheme in Maple software. The obtained results intimate that higher rotation raises the radial and angular velocity components. The nano-particles concentration enhances with Brownian motion parameter. Further, the heat transfer rate at the disk surface diminishes with thermophoresis parameter. The achieved numerical computations of velocity profiles, friction coefficient and Nusselt number are matched in limiting cases with previously published literature and an outstanding agreement is observed.  相似文献

The current study centralizes on unsteady free convection slip flow of Casson fluid past a vertical permeable plate with Hall current, radiative heat flux, and variable suction. The nonlinear convection is subjected to quartic order. Perturbation method is used to convert the non-linear coupled partial differential equation of the momentum and energy to a system of ordinary differential equations. The dimensionless governing equations are solved analytically for velocity and temperature profiles. The graphs are plotted for sundry parameters for variations in the distinct flow fields w.r.t distance from the plate. Variation in the skin friction for the axial and transverse cases are presented in the form of graphs for various parameters. It is observed that with the increase in the order of non-linear convection and value of radiation parameter, the velocity field increases in Casson fluid. The increase in heat absorption parameter and Prandtl number decreases the temperature profile and increase in radiative heat flux parameter increases the temperature profile.  相似文献

The present note deals with the effects of radiative heat transfer and free convection in MHD for a flow of an electrically conducting, incompressible, dusty viscous fluid past an impulsively started vertical non-conducting plate, under the influence of transversely applied magnetic field. The heat due to viscous dissipation and induced magnetic field is assumed to be negligible. The governing linear partial differential equations are solved by finite difference technique. The effects of various parameters (like radiation parameter N, Prandtl number Pr, porosity parameter K) entering into the MHD Stokes problem for flow of dusty conducting fluid have been examined on the temperature field and velocity profile for both the dusty fluid and dust particles.  相似文献

The purpose of the present paper is to investigate the flow and heat transfer of a double fractional Maxwell fluid with a second order slip model. The fractional governing equations are solved numerically by using the finite difference method. By comparing the analytical solutions of special boundary conditions, the validity of the present numerical method is examined. The effects of the two slip parameters and the fractional parameters on the velocity and temperature distribution are presented graphically and discussed. The results reveal that the fractional Maxwell fluid exhibits a stronger viscosity or elasticity for different fractional parameters, and the oscillation phenomenon will gradually decrease as expected with an increase in slip parameters.  相似文献

In this letter, a mathematical model for transient nature thin film flow of Maxwell nanofluid over a rotating disk is studied in the presence of a uniform magnetic field and non-linear thermal radiation. The Brownian motion and thermophoresis features due to nanofluid are captured by adopting the Buongiorno model. The prime emphasize is to explore the temperature field and nanoparticles volume fraction in nanofluid thin film flow. The reduced system of differential equations is solved numerically by finite difference based method namely bvp4c. The numerical outcomes regarding film thickness, Nusselt number, Sherwood number, velocity, temperature, and concentration are revealed for varying estimation of involved physical parameters. It is shown that the film thickness decreases with increasing values of the magnetic number. Further, the impact of thermophoresis and thermal radiation parameters is worthwhile in enhancing the fluid temperature. The Solute concentration is found to decrease with Brownian motion and Schmidt number.  相似文献

Laminar unsteady multilayer axial flows of fractional immiscible Maxwell fluids in a circular cylinder are investigated. The flow of fluids is generated by a time-dependent pressure gradient in the axial direction and by the translational motion of a cylinder along his axis. The considered mathematical model is based on the fractional constitutive equation of Maxwell fluids with Caputo time-fractional derivatives. Analytical solutions for the fractional differential equations of the velocity fields with boundary and interfaces conditions have been determined by using the Laplace transform coupled with the Hankel transform of order zero and the Weber transform of order zero. The influence of the memory effects on the motion of the fluid has been investigated for the particular case of three fractional Maxwell fluids. It is found that for increasing values of the fractional parameter the fluid velocity is decreasing. The memory effects have a stronger influence on the velocity of the second layer.  相似文献

The present work is performed to study the effect of heat generation on fully developed flow and heat transfer of micropolar fluid between two parallel vertical plates. The rigid plates are assumed to exchange heat with an external fluid by convection. The governing equations are solved by using Crank–Nicolson implicit finite difference method. The effects of governing parameters such as transient, heat generation, micropolar parameter, Prandtl number, Biot number, and Reynolds number on the velocity and temperature profiles are discussed. It is found that the presence of heat generation enhances the velocity and temperature of the micropolar fluid at the middle of the channel.  相似文献

An analysis is carried out to study the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow and heat transfer characteristics of an electrically conducting dusty non-Newtonian fluid, namely, the upper convected Maxwell (UCM) fluid over a stretching sheet. The stretching velocity and the temperature at the surface are assumed to vary linearly with the distance from the origin. Using a similarity transformation, the governing nonlinear partial differential equations of the model problem are transformed into coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations and the equations are solved numerically by a second order finite difference implicit method known as the Keller-box method. Comparisons with the available results in the literature are presented as a special case. The effects of the physical parameters on the fluid velocity, the velocity of the dust particle, the density of the dust particle, the fluid temperature, the dust-phase temperature, the skin friction, and the wall-temperature gradient are presented through tables and graphs. It is observed that, Maxwell fluid reduces the wall-shear stress. Also, the fluid particle interaction reduces the fluid temperature in the boundary layer. Furthermore, the results obtained for the flow and heat transfer characteristics reveal many interesting behaviors that warrant further study on the non-Newtonian fluid flow phenomena, especially the dusty UCM fluid flow phenomena.  相似文献

An analysis is performed to study the free convective flow over a moving vertical porous plate with variable temperature under the influence of magnetic field and thermal radiation. The fluid considered here is a gray, absorbing-emitting radiation, but a nonscattering medium. The dimensionless governing equations are solved using the Laplace transform technique. The velocity, temperature, skin friction and Nusselt number are studied for different parameters like the radiation parameter, Grashof number, Prandtl number, magnetic field parameter, permeability parameter, and time. It is observed that the velocity decreases with increasing radiation parameter.  相似文献

The transient electro-osmotic flow of a generalized Maxwell fluid with fractional derivative in a narrow capillary tube is examined. With the help of an integral transform method, analytical expressions are derived for the electric potential and transient velocity profile by solving the linearized Poisson-Boltzmann equation and the Navier-Stokes equation. It was shown that the distribution and establishment of the velocity consists of two parts, the steady part and the unsteady one. The effects of relaxation time, fractional derivative parameter, and the Debye-Hückel parameter on the generation of flow are shown graphically and analyzed numerically. The velocity overshoot and oscillation are observed and discussed.  相似文献

Unsteady laminar flows and heat transfer of n-immiscible fractional Maxwell fluids in a channel are investigated under influence of time-dependent pressure gradient. The isothermal channel walls have translational motions in their planes with time-dependent velocities. Governing equations of the mathematical model are based on the generalized constitutive equations for shear stress and thermal flux described by the time-fractional Caputo derivative. Analytical and semi-analytical solutions for velocity, shear stress, and temperature fields are obtained by using finite sine-Fourier and Laplace transforms. In the case of semi-analytical solutions, the inverse Laplace transforms are obtained numerically by employing the Talbots algorithms. Using the software Mathcad, numerical calculations have carried out and results are presented in graphical illustrations in order to analyze the memory effects on the fluid temperature and motion. It is found that in fluids with thermal memory the heat transfer is slower compared with the ordinary fluid, while the fractional velocity parameters act as braking/accelerating factors of the fluids.  相似文献

The paper aims to investigate the unsteady natural convection flow and heat transfer of fractional Maxwell viscoelastic nanofluid in magnetic field over a vertical plate. The effect of nanoparticle shape is first introduced to the study of fractional Maxwell viscoelastic nanofluid. Fractional shear stress and Cattaneo heat flux model are applied to construct the governing boundary layer equations of momentum and energy, which are solved numerically. The quantities of physical interest are graphically presented and discussed in detail. It is found that particle shape and fractional derivative parameters have profound influence on the flow and heat transfer.  相似文献

In the process of filtration, fluid impurities precipitate/accumulate; this results in an uneven inner wall of the filter, consequently leading to non-uniform suction/injection. The Riemannian–Liouville fractional derivative model is used to investigate viscoelastic incompressible liquid food flowing through a permeable plate and to generalize Fick’s law. Moreover, we consider steady-state mass balance during ultrafiltration on a plate surface, and a fractional-order concentration boundary condition is established, thereby rendering the problem real and complex. The governing equation is numerically solved using the finite difference algorithm. The effects of the fractional constitutive models, generalized Reynolds number, generalized Schmidt number, and permeability parameter on the velocity and concentration fields are compared. The results show that an increase in fractionalorderαin the momentum equation leads to a decrease in the horizontal velocity. Anomalous diffusion described by the fractional derivative model weakens the mass transfer; therefore, the concentration decreases with increasing fractional derivativeγin the concentration equation.  相似文献

The effects of variable fluid properties and variable heat flux on the flow and heat transfer of a non-Newtonian Maxwell fluid over an unsteady stretching sheet in the presence of slip velocity have been studied. The governing differential equations are transformed into a set of coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations and then solved with a numerical technique using appropriate boundary conditions for various physical parameters. The numerical solution for the governing non-linear boundary value problem is based on applying the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method coupled with the shooting technique over the entire range of physical parameters. The effects of various parameters like the viscosity parameter, thermal conductivity parameter, unsteadiness parameter, slip velocity parameter, the Deborah number, and the Prandtl number on the flow and temperature profiles as well as on the local skin-friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number are presented and discussed. Comparison of numerical results is made with the earlier published results under limiting cases.  相似文献

Nanofluids are forthcoming new generation heat transfer fluids, which have been scrutinized precisely, in current years. Thermophysical assets of these fluids have noteworthy impact on their heat transfer features. In this current investigation a mathematical relation for two dimensional (2D) flow of magnetite Maxwell nanofluid influenced by a stretched cylinder is established. To visualize the stimulus of Brownian moment and thermophoresis phenomena on Maxwell fluid Buongiorno's relation has been considered. Moreover, heat sink/source and convective condition are also presented for heat transport mechanism. The homotopic scheme has been developed for the solutions of nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODEs). The achieved outcomes are planned and consulted in aspects for somatic parameters. It is noteworthy that the velocity of Maxwell fluid display conflicting performance for curvature parameter and Deborah number. It is also reported that the liquid velocity decays for magnetic parameter, whereas the nanoliquid temperature and concentration field enhance for magnetic parameter. Furthermore, the liquid temperature intensifies for the progressive values of thermophoresis parameter and Brownian motion. Additionally, endorsement of current significances is organized via benchmarking with earlier famous limiting situations and we pledge a marvelous communication with these outcomes.  相似文献

This article numerically examines the boundary layer flow due to an exponentially stretching surface in the presence of an applied magnetic field. Casson fluid model is used to characterize the non-Newtonian fluid behavior. The flow is subjected to suction/blowing at the surface. Analysis is carded out in presence of thermal radiation and prescribed surface heat flux. In this study, an exponential order stretching velocity and prescribed exponential order surface heat flux are accorded with each other. The governing partial differential equations are first converted into nonlinear ordinary differential equations by using appropriate transformations and then solved numerically. The effect of increasing values of the Casson parameter is to suppress the velocity field. However the temperature is enhanced when Casson parameter increases. It is found that the skin-friction coefficient increases with increasing values of suction parameter. Temperature also increases for large values of power index n in both suction and blowing cases at the boundary. It is observed that the thermal radiation enhances the effective thermal diffusivity and hence the temperature rises.  相似文献
