Considered is a system of delay differential equations modeling a time-delayed connecting network of three neurons without self-feedback. Discussing the change of the number of eigenvalues with zero real part, we locate the boundary of the stability region and finally determine the largest stability region of trivial solution. We investigate the existence of bifurcation phenomena of codimension one/two of the trivial equilibrium by considering the intersections of some parameter curves, which, in the -half parameter plane, correspond to zero root or pure imaginary roots. In particular, the equivariant bifurcation is studied because of the equivariance of the system. We also present numerical simulations to demonstrate the rich dynamical behavior near the equivariant Pitchfork-Hopf bifurcation points, Hopf-Hopf bifurcation points, and some higher codimension bifurcation points.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop an efficient approach to compute the equivariant normal form of delay differential equations with parameters in the presence of symmetry. We present and justify a process that involves center manifold reduction and normalization preserving the symmetry, and that yields normal forms explicitly in terms of the coefficients of the original system. We observe that the form of the reduced vector field relies only on the information of the linearized system at the critical point and on the inherent symmetry, and the normal forms give critical information about not only the existence but also the stability and direction of bifurcated spatiotemporal patterns. We illustrate our general results by some applications to fold bifurcation, equivariant Hopf bifurcation and Hopf-Hopf interaction, with a detailed case study of additive neurons with delayed feedback.  相似文献

Employing the theories of Turing bifurcation in the partial differential equations, we investigate the dynamical behavior of a single species reaction–diffusion model with spatiotemporal delay. The linear stability and the conditions for the occurrence of Turing bifurcation in this model are obtained. Moreover, the amplitude equations which represent different spatiotemporal patterns are also obtained near the Turing bifurcation point by using multiple scale method. In Turing space, it is found that the spatiotemporal distributions of the density of this researched species have spots pattern and stripes pattern. Finally, some numerical simulations corresponding to the different spatiotemporal patterns are given to verify our theoretical analysis.  相似文献

研究了Duffing-Van der Pol振子的主参数共振响应及其时滞反馈控制问题.依平均法和对时滞反馈控制项Taylor展开的截断得到的平均方程表明,除参数激励的幅值和频率外,零解的稳定性只与原方程中线性项的系数和线性反馈有关,但周期解的稳定性还与原方程中非线性项的系数和非线性反馈有关.通过调整反馈增益和时滞,可以使不稳定的零解变得稳定.非零周期解可能通过鞍结分岔和Hopf分岔失去稳定性,但选择合适的反馈增益和时滞,可以避免鞍结分岔和Hopf分岔的发生.数值仿真的结果验证了理论分析的正确性.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the damping characteristics of two Duffing–van der Pol oscillators having damping terms described by fractional derivative and time delay respectively. The residue harmonic balance method is presented to find periodic solutions. No small parameter is assumed. Highly accurate limited cycle frequency and amplitude are captured. The results agree well with the numerical solutions for a wide range of parameters. Based on the obtained solutions, the damping effects of these two oscillators are investigated. When the system parameters are identical, the steady state responses and their stability are qualitatively different. The initial approximations are obtained by solving a few harmonic balance equations. They are improved iteratively by solving linear equations of increasing dimension. The second-order solutions accurately exhibit the dynamical phenomena when taking the fractional derivative and time delay as bifurcation parameters respectively. When damping is described by time delay, the stable steady state response is more complex because time delay takes past history into account implicitly. Numerical examples taking time delay and fractional derivative are respectively given for feature extraction and convergence study.  相似文献

The complexity of a nonlinear dynamical system is controllable via a selection of system parameters. One representative behavior of such a complex system can be illustrated by Hopf bifurcation. This paper presents a Hopf bifurcation analysis of a kind of integro-differential equations with unbounded delay. Based on the Hopf bifurcation principle, a set of relationships among system parameters are obtained when a periodic orbit exists in the system. A numerical analysis is applied to solve the integro-differential delay equation. This paper proves the existence of Hopf bifurcation in the corresponding difference equations under the same system parameters as that in the integro-differential delay equations.  相似文献

The paper deals with the dynamical behavior of fish and mussel population in a fish farm where external food is supplied. The ecosystem of the fish farm is represented by a set of nonlinear differential equations involving the nutrient (food), fish and mussels. We have studied the boundedness, local stability and global stability of the model system. We have incorporated the discrete type gestational delay of fish and analyze effect of the delay on the dynamical behavior of the model system. The delay parameter complicates the dynamics depending on the external food from changing the stable state to unstable damped periodic trajectories leading to a limit cycle oscillation. We have studied the Hopf-bifurcation of the model system in the neighborhood of the coexisting equilibrium point considering delay as a variable bifurcation parameter. We have performed numerical simulation to verify the analytical results. The entire study reveals that the external food supply controls the dynamics of the system.  相似文献

This paper examines dynamical behavior of a nonlinear oscillator which models a quarter-car forced by the road profile. The effect of multiple time delays is studied in detail. The focus is on the influence of delay in the system. This naturally gives rise to a delay differential equation (DDE) model of the system. The domain where the control is efficient in reducing the amplitude of vibration is found by the harmonic balance method. Technical stability within definite time and asymptotic stability is derived for selected gain control parameters. The control gain parameters are chosen according to technical and asymptotic stability. The energy analysis is a combination of Lyapunov’s function and the averaging technique, and is used to analyze the Hopf bifurcation.  相似文献

In this article, a novel four dimensional autonomous nonlinear systezm called hyperchaotic Rikitake system is proposed. Basic properties of the new system are investigated and the complex dynamical behaviors, such as time series, bifurcation diagram, and Lyapunov exponents are analyzed by dynamic analysis approaches. To control the new hyperchaotic system, the delayed feedback control is introduced. Regarding the time delay as a bifurcation parameter, stability and bifurcations with respect to time delay are investigated. Conditions assuring the existence of Hopf bifurcation and the distribution of roots to the associated characteristic equation are investigated by utilizing the polynomial theorem. Besides, the Hopf bifurcation is proved to occur when the bifurcation parameter (time delay) crosses through derived critical value. The dynamical behavior of a delayed neural network with bi-directional coupling is investigated by taking the delay as the bifurcating parameter. Some parameter regions are given for conditional/absolute stability and Hopf bifurcations by using the theory of functional differential equations. As the propagation time delay in the coupling varies, stability switches for the trivial solution are found. Conditions ensuring the stability and direction of the Hopf bifurcation are determined by applying the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem. We also discuss the spatio-temporal patterns of bifurcating periodic oscillations by using the symmetric bifurcation theory of delay differential equations combined with representation theory of Lie groups. In particular, we obtain that the spatio-temporal patterns of bifurcating periodic oscillations will alternate according to the change of the propagation time delay in the coupling, i.e., different ranges of delays correspond to different patterns of neural activities. Numerical simulations are given to illustrate the obtained results and show the existence of bursts in some interval of the time for large enough delay.  相似文献

We consider a network of two coupled neurons with delayed feedback. We show that the connection topology of the network plays a fundamental role in classifying the rich dynamics and bifurcation phenomena. Regarding eigenvalues of the connection matrix as bifurcation parameters, we obtain codimension 1 bifurcations (including a fold bifurcation and a Hopf bifurcation) and codimension 2 bifurcations (including fold-Hopf bifurcations and Hopf-Hopf bifurcations). We also give concrete formulae for the normal form coefficients derived via the center manifold reduction that give detailed information about the bifurcation and stability of various bifurcated solutions. In particular, we obtain stable or unstable equilibria, periodic solutions, quasi-periodic solutions, and sphere-like surfaces of solutions. We also show how to evaluate critical normal form coefficients from the original system of delay-differential equations without computing the corresponding center manifolds.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze the dynamical behaviour of a bioeconomic model system using differential algebraic equations. The system describes a prey–predator fishery with prey dispersal in a two-patch environment, one of which is a free fishing zone and other is a protected zone. It is observed that a singularity-induced bifurcation phenomenon appears when a variation of the economic interest of harvesting is taken into account. We have incorporated a state feedback controller to stabilize the model system in the case of positive economic interest. A discrete-type gestational delay of predators is incorporated, and its effect on the dynamical behaviour of the model is analyzed. The occurrence of Hopf bifurcation of the proposed model with positive economic profit is shown in the neighbourhood of the coexisting equilibrium point through considering the delay as a bifurcation parameter. Finally, some numerical simulations are given to verify the analytical results, and the system is analyzed through graphical illustrations.  相似文献

The Hopf bifurcation of an equilibrium in dynamical systems consisting of n equations with a single time delay and translational symmetry is investigated. The Jacobian belonging to the equilibrium of the corresponding delay-differential equations always has a zero eigenvalue due to the translational symmetry. This eigenvalue does not depend on the system parameters, while other characteristic roots may satisfy the conditions of Hopf bifurcation. An algorithm for this Hopf bifurcation calculation (including the center-manifold reduction) is presented. The closed form results are demonstrated for a simple model of cars following each other along a ring.  相似文献

In this paper, a simplified congestion control model is considered to study the quasiperiodic motion induced by heterogenous time delays. Analysis for the stability of the equilibrium shows that the Hopf bifurcation curves with diverse frequencies may intersect at the so-called non-resonant double Hopf bifurcation point. Choosing the delays as the bifurcation parameters and employing the method of multiple scales, the amplitude–frequency equations or normal form equations are obtained theoretically. Based on these equations, the dynamics near the bifurcation point is classified. The values of the delays for which the quasiperiodic motion exists can be predicted with an acceptable accuracy. This result provides a reference in designing and optimizing the network systems.  相似文献

A forced scalar delay dynamical system is analyzed from the perspective of bifurcation and synchronization. In general first order differential equations do not exhibit chaos, but introduction of a delay feedback makes the system infinite dimensional and shows chaoticity. In order to study the dynamics of such a system, Galerkin projection technique is used to obtain a finite dimensional set of ordinary differential equations from the delay differential equation. We compare the results of simulation with those obtained from direct numerical simulation of the delay equation to ascertain the accuracy of the truncation process in the Galerkin approximation. We have considered two cases, one with five and the other with eight shape functions. Next we study two types of synchronization by considering coupling of the above derived equations with a forced dynamical system without delay. Our analysis shows that it is possible to have synchronization between two such systems. It has been shown that the chaotic system with delay feedback can drive the system without delay to achieve synchronization and the opposite case is also equally valid. This is confirmed by the evaluation of the conditional Lyapunov exponents of the systems.  相似文献

In this paper a system of three delay differential equations representing a Hopfield type general model for three neurons with two-way (bidirectional) time delayed connections between the neurons and time delayed self-connection from each neuron to itself is studied. Delay independent and delay dependent sufficient conditions for linear stability, instability and the occurrence of a Hopf bifurcation about the trivial equilibrium are addressed. The partition of the resulting parametric space into regions of stability, instability, and Hopf bifurcation in the absence of self-connection is realized. To extend the local Hopf branches for large delay values a particular bidirectional delayed tri-neuron model without self-connection is investigated. Sufficient conditions for global existence of multiple non-constant periodic solutions are obtained for such a model using the global Hopf-bifurcation theorem for functional differential equations due to J. Wu and the Bendixson criterion for higher dimensional ordinary differential equations due to Li and Muldowney, and following the approach developed by Wei and Li.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the dynamical properties for a model of delay differential equations, which describes a virus‐immune interaction in vivo. By analyzing corresponding characteristic equations, the local stability of the equilibria for infection‐free, antibody‐free, and antibody response and the existence of Hopf bifurcation with antibody response delay as a bifurcation parameter at the antibody‐activated infection equilibrium are established, respectively. Global stability of the equilibria for infection‐free, antibody‐free, and antibody response, respectively, also are established by applying the Lyapunov functionals method. Using the method of multiple scales, the nonlinear instability problem of two superposed dielectric fluids is studied. The applied electric filed is taken into account under the influence of external modulations near a point of bifurcation. A time varying electric field is superimposed on the system. In addition, the viscosity and variable gravity force are considered. A generalized equation governing the evolution of the amplitude is derived in marginally unstable regions of parameter space. A bifurcation analysis of the amplitude equation is carried out when the dissipation due to viscosity and the control parameter are both assumed to be small. The solution of a nonlinear equation in which parametric and external excitations are obtained analytically and numerically. The method of generalized synchronization is applied to determine the equations that describe the modulation of the amplitude and phase. These equations are used to determine the steady state equations. Frequency response curves are presented graphically. The stability of the proposed solution is determined applying Liapunov's first method. Numerical solutions are presented graphically for the effects of the different equation parameters on the system stability, response and chaos.  相似文献
