The effects of variable fluid properties and variable heat flux on the flow and heat transfer of a non-Newtonian Maxwell fluid over an unsteady stretching sheet in the presence of slip velocity have been studied. The governing differential equations are transformed into a set of coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations and then solved with a numerical technique using appropriate boundary conditions for various physical parameters. The numerical solution for the governing non-linear boundary value problem is based on applying the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method coupled with the shooting technique over the entire range of physical parameters. The effects of various parameters like the viscosity parameter, thermal conductivity parameter, unsteadiness parameter, slip velocity parameter, the Deborah number, and the Prandtl number on the flow and temperature profiles as well as on the local skin-friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number are presented and discussed. Comparison of numerical results is made with the earlier published results under limiting cases.  相似文献

A novel finite volume method is developed to investigate the axisymmetric convection flow and heat transfer of fractional viscoelastic fluid past a vertical cylinder. Fractional cylindrical governing equations are formulated by fractional Maxwell model and generalized Fourier's law. The velocity slip and temperature jump boundary conditions are considered across the fluid-solid interface. Numerical results are validated by exact solutions of special case with source terms. The effects of fractional derivative parameter and boundary condition parameters on flow and heat transfer characteristics are discussed. The viscoelastic fluid performs evident shear thickening property in the fractional Maxwell constitutive relation. Moreover, the boundary condition parameters have remarkable influence on velocity and temperature distributions.  相似文献

On the boundary slip of fluid flow   总被引:5,自引:1,他引:4
For hundreds of years, in all the textbooks of classical fluid mechanics and lubrica- tion mechanics it is assumed that there was no wall slip (boundary slip) at a liquid-solid interface, i.e. no relative motion between liquid and solid at the interface. This is the no-slip boundary condition. It has been widely applied to engineering and experiments and to almost all the rheology or viscosity measurements of fluids. Rheology is one of the most important bases for fluid mechanics and lubricati…  相似文献

In the present study, the effect of slip boundary condition on the rotating electroosmotic flow (EOF) of Oldroyd-B fluid in a microchannel under high zeta potential is considered numerically. The potential distribution of the electric double layer (EDL) is acquired by solving the nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann equation. The numerical solution of velocity profile is obtained by using a finite difference method. The effects of rotating Reynolds number, electric width, viscous parameter, slip parameter etc on velocity and boundary stress for Oldroyd-B fluid EOF are discussed, which show that the slip boundary effect can reduce the boundary stress and promote the development of flow.  相似文献

The paper aims to investigate the unsteady natural convection flow and heat transfer of fractional Maxwell viscoelastic nanofluid in magnetic field over a vertical plate. The effect of nanoparticle shape is first introduced to the study of fractional Maxwell viscoelastic nanofluid. Fractional shear stress and Cattaneo heat flux model are applied to construct the governing boundary layer equations of momentum and energy, which are solved numerically. The quantities of physical interest are graphically presented and discussed in detail. It is found that particle shape and fractional derivative parameters have profound influence on the flow and heat transfer.  相似文献

Analysis is carried out to study the convection heat transfer in an upper convected Maxwell fluid at a non-isothermal stretching surface. This is a generalization of the paper by Sadeghy et al. [21] to study the effects of free convection currents, variable thermal conductivity and the variable temperature at the stretching surface. Unlike in Sadeghy et al., here the governing nonlinear partial differential equations are coupled. These coupled equations are transformed in to a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations and are solved numerically by a finite difference scheme (known as the Keller-Box method) and the numerical results are presented through graphs and tables for a wide range of governing parameters. The results obtained for the flow and heat transfer characteristics reveal many interesting behaviors that warrant further study of nonlinear convection heat transfer.  相似文献

In the present study, the unsteady Hartmann flow with heat transfer of a dusty viscous incompressible electrically conducting fluid under the influence of an exponentially decreasing pressure gradient is studied without neglecting the ion slip. The parallel plates are assumed to be porous and subjected to a uniform suction from above and injection from below while the fluid is acted upon by an external uniform magnetic field applied perpendicular to the plates. The equations of motion are solved analytically to yield the velocity distributions for both the fluid and dust particles. The energy equations for both the fluid and dust particles including the viscous and Joule dissipation terms, are solved numerically using finite differences to get the temperature distributions.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to establish the analytical solutions corresponding to two types of unsteady flows of fractional Maxwell fluid in a duct of rectangular cross-section. The fractional calculus approach is used in solving the problems. With the help of the methods of separation of variables and Laplace transforms, the expressions for the velocity field and the volume flux are presented under series forms in terms of the generalized G functions. Similar solutions for Newtonian and ordinary Maxwell fluids, performing the same motions, are also obtained as the limiting cases of our solutions. Furthermore, the influence of pertinent parameters on the flows is delineated and appropriate conclusions are drawn.  相似文献

Radiative heat transfer in the steady two-dimensional flow of Walters' B fluid with a non-uniform heat source/sink is investigated. An incompressible fluid is bounded by a stretching porous surface. The convective boundary condition is used for the thermal boundary layer problem. The relevant equations are first simplified under usual boundary layer assumptions and then transformed into a similar form by suitable transformations. Explicit series solutions of velocity and temperature are derived by the homotopy analysis method(HAM). The dimensionless velocity and temperature gradients at the wall are calculated and discussed.  相似文献

This Letter presents a numerical study of the flow and heat transfer of an incompressible FENE-P fluid over a non-isothermal surface. The governing partial differential equations are converted into ordinary differential equations by a similarity transformation. The effects of the thermal radiation are considered in the energy equation, and the variations of dimensionless surface temperature and dimensionless surface temperature gradient, as well as the heat transfer characteristics with various physical parameters are graphed and tabulated. Two cases are studied, namely, (i) the sheet with prescribed surface temperature (PST case) and (ii) the sheet with prescribed heat flux (PHF case). Moreover, the mechanical characteristics of the corresponding flow are also presented.  相似文献

In this paper, we perform a numerical simulation of the cavitating flow around an underwater hemispherical-head slender body running at a high speed. For the first time, the slip boundary condition is introduced into this problem, and we find that the slip boundary condition has a big influence on the cavitation in the flow-separation zone. By simulating the cavitating flow under different cavitation numbers, we demonstrate that the slip boundary condition can effectively reduce the intensity of cavitation, as represented by the length of cavitation bubbles. The present paper provides a new method for utilization of new surface materials to control the cavitation on the underwater moving objects.  相似文献

An analysis is carried out for dual solutions of the boundary layer flow of Maxwell fluid over a permeable shrinking sheet. In the investigation, a constant wall mass transfer is considered. With the help of similarity transformations, the governing partial differential equations(PDEs) are converted into a nonlinear self-similar ordinary differential equation(ODE). For the numerical solution of transformed self-similar ODE, the shooting method is applied. The study reveals that the steady flow of Maxwell fluid is possible with a smaller amount of imposed mass suction compared with the viscous fluid flow. Dual solutions for the velocity distribution are obtained. Also, the increase of Deborah number reduces the boundary layer thickness for both solutions.  相似文献

The effect of Hall current on the steady magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) flow of an electrically conducting, incompressible Burgers' fluid between two parallel electrically insulating infinite planes is studied. The MHD flow is generated by applying constant pressure gradient. An external uniform magnetic field normal to the disks is applied. The disks are kept at two different constant temperatures. Exact solutions are obtained for the governing momentum and energy equations. The effects of Hartmann number M, Reynolds number Re, Prandtl number Pr, Eckert number Ec, pressure gradient dp/dx and Hall parameter η are examined.  相似文献

The problem of steady two-dimensional laminar flow in slip flow regime of a viscous incompressible and electrically conducting fluid through an inclined channel of rectangular cross-section in presence of a transverse magnetic field has been considered. The walls of the channel are assumed to have prescribed temperatures and finite conductivities. The expressions for the velocity component, induced magnetic field and the temperature are obtained and their numerical results are shown graphically.  相似文献

We develop a mathematical modeling for an electrically conducting non-Newtonian Maxwell fluid flow occurring between two coaxially parallel stretchable rotating disks at constant distant apart. The pressure and heat transfer analysis is carried out subject to the effects of axial magnetic field and temperature dependent thermal conductivity. The stretching and rotating rates of both disks are assumed different from each other. The two diverse phenomena, such as, when both disks are rotating with different angular velocities in the same as well as in the opposite directions are discussed. The similarity procedure adopted by von Kármán is utilized to reduce the governing momentum and energy equations into nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The solution of the governing problem is obtained numerically using bvp4c scheme in Matlab. The effects of active parameters including stretching rates, Deborah number, magnetic number, Prandtl number, thermal conductivity parameter and Reynolds number are examined for same as well as opposite rotation direction for radial, azimuthal, and axial flows, pressure and temperature fields. The classical flow pattern happening between the disks is significantly altered by the stretching action which is a main physical significances of this study. The azimuthal flow is observed higher for the same direction of disks rotation as compared to opposite disks rotation. The pressure field drops near the lower disk with increasing values of Reynolds number. The role of thermal conductivity parameter is quite useful to enhance the fluid temperature.  相似文献

A boundary layer analysis is presented for non-Newtonian fluid flow and heat transfer over a nonlinearly stretching surface. The Casson fluid model is used to characterize the non-Newtonian fluid behavior. By using suitable transformations, the governing partial differential equations corresponding to the momentum and energy equations are converted into non-linear ordinary differential equations. Numerical solutions of these equations are obtained with the shooting method. The effect of increasing Casson parameter is to suppress the velocity field. However the temperature is enhanced with the increasing Casson parameter.  相似文献

We show that for a fermion in a bounded background potential in a finite box, eigenvalues of the total charge are independent of whether the potential is solitonic and depend only on the boundary condition: half-odd integral or integral for charge conjugation (C) invariant boundary conditions and an arbitrary fraction forC non-invariant boundary conditions. Fractional fermion numbers for infinite space Jackiw-Rebbi and Goldstone-Wilczek Hamiltonians are reproduced in finite space by using boundary conditions different from the periodic ones of Rajaraman and Bell.  相似文献

The hydromagnetic slip flow of a viscous incompressible and electrically conducting fluid through an inclined channel of rectangular cross section in the presence of a transverse magnetic field has been analysed. The walls of the channel are assumed to have prescribed temperatures and finite conductivities. The boundary conditions for both velocity and temperature are properly rectified. The expressions for the velocity, induced magnetic field and the temperature are obtained both analytically and numerically.  相似文献
