A capillary electrophoresis (CE) method with ultraviolet/visible (UV–Vis) spectroscopy for iron speciation in lithium ion battery (LIB) electrolytes was developed. The complexation of Fe2+ with 1,10-phenantroline (o-phen) and of Fe3+ with ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) revealed effective stabilization of both iron species during sample preparation and CE measurements. For the investigation of small electrolyte volumes from LIB cells, a sample buffer with optimal sample pH was developed to inhibit precipitation of Fe3+ during complexation of Fe2+ with o-phen. However, the presence of the conducting salt lithium hexafluorophosphate (LiPF6) in the electrolyte led to the precipitation of the complex [Fe(o-phen)3](PF6)2. Addition of acetonitrile (ACN) to the sample successfully re-dissolved this Fe2+-complex to retain the quantification of both species. Further optimization of the method successfully prevented the oxidation of dissolved Fe2+ with ambient oxygen during sample preparation, by previously stabilizing the sample with HCl or by working under counterflow of argon. Following dissolution experiments with the positive electrode material LiFePO4 (LFP) in LIB electrolytes under dry room conditions at 20°C and 60°C mainly revealed iron dissolution at elevated temperatures due to the formation of acidic electrolyte decomposition products. Despite the primary oxidation state of iron in LFP of +2, both iron species were detected in the electrolytes that derive from oxidation of dissolved Fe2+ by remaining molecular oxygen in the sample vials during the dissolution experiments.  相似文献

It remains challenging to rationally synthesize iron/nitrogen-doped carbon (Fe/N-C) catalysts with rich Fe−Nx atomic active sites for improved oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) electrocatalysis. A highly efficient Fe/N-C catalyst, which has been synthesized through a spatial isolation strategy, is reported. Derived from bioinspired polydopamine (PDA)-based hybrid microsphere precursors, it is a multifunctional carrier that loads atomically dispersed Fe3+/Zn2+ ions through coordination interactions and N-rich melamine through electrostatic attraction and covalent bonding. The Zn2+ ions and melamine in the precursor efficiently isolate Fe3+ atoms upon pyrolysis to form rich Fe−Nx atomic active sites, and generate abundant micropores during high-temperature treatment; as a consequence, the resultant Fe-N/C catalyst contains rich catalytically active Fe−Nx sites and a hierarchical porous structure. The catalyst exhibits improved ORR activity that is superior to and close to that of Pt/C in alkaline and acidic solutions, respectively.  相似文献

A fundamental understanding of the nature of nuclearity effects is important for the rational design of superior sub-nanocatalysts with low nuclearity, but remains a long-standing challenge. Using atomic layer deposition, we precisely synthesized Fe sub-nanocatalysts with tunable nuclearity (Fe1–Fe4) anchored on N,O-co-doped carbon nanorods (NOC). The electronic properties and spin configuration of the Fe sub-nanocatalysts were nuclearity dependent and dominated the H2O2 activation modes and adsorption strength of active O species on Fe sites toward C−H oxidation. The Fe1-NOC single atom catalyst exhibits state-of-the-art activity for benzene oxidation to phenol, which is ascribed to its unique coordination environment (Fe1N2O3) and medium spin state (t2g4eg1); turnover frequencies of 407 h−1 at 25 °C and 1869 h−1 at 60 °C were obtained, which is 3.4, 5.7, and 13.6 times higher than those of Fe dimer, trimer, and tetramer catalysts, respectively.  相似文献

Density functional theory (DFT) is employed to: 1) propose a viable catalytic cycle consistent with our experimental results for the mechanism of chemically driven (CeIV) O2 generation from water, mediated by nonheme iron complexes; and 2) to unravel the role of the ligand on the nonheme iron catalyst in the water oxidation reaction activity. To this end, the key features of the water oxidation catalytic cycle for the highly active complexes [Fe(OTf)2(Pytacn)] (Pytacn: 1‐(2′‐pyridylmethyl)‐4,7‐dimethyl‐1,4,7‐triazacyclononane; OTf: CF3SO3?) ( 1 ) and [Fe(OTf)2(mep)] (mep: N,N′‐bis(2‐pyridylmethyl)‐N,N′‐dimethyl ethane‐1,2‐diamine) ( 2 ) as well as for the catalytically inactive [Fe(OTf)2(tmc)] (tmc: N,N′,N′′,N′′′‐tetramethylcyclam) ( 3 ) and [Fe(NCCH3)(MePy2CH‐tacn)](OTf)2 (MePy2CH‐tacn: N‐(dipyridin‐2‐yl)methyl)‐N′,N′′‐dimethyl‐1,4,7‐triazacyclononane) ( 4 ) were analyzed. The DFT computed catalytic cycle establishes that the resting state under catalytic conditions is a [FeIV(O)(OH2)(LN4)]2+ species (in which LN4=Pytacn or mep) and the rate‐determining step is the O?O bond‐formation event. This is nicely supported by the remarkable agreement between the experimental (ΔG=17.6±1.6 kcal mol?1) and theoretical (ΔG=18.9 kcal mol?1) activation parameters obtained for complex 1 . The O?O bond formation is performed by an iron(V) intermediate [FeV(O)(OH)(LN4)]2+ containing a cis‐FeV(O)(OH) unit. Under catalytic conditions (CeIV, pH 0.8) the high oxidation state FeV is only thermodynamically accessible through a proton‐coupled electron‐transfer (PCET) process from the cis‐[FeIV(O)(OH2)(LN4)]2+ resting state. Formation of the [FeV(O)(LN4)]3+ species is thermodynamically inaccessible for complexes 3 and 4 . Our results also show that the cis‐labile coordinative sites in iron complexes have a beneficial key role in the O?O bond‐formation process. This is due to the cis‐OH ligand in the cis‐FeV(O)(OH) intermediate that can act as internal base, accepting a proton concomitant to the O?O bond‐formation reaction. Interplay between redox potentials to achieve the high oxidation state (FeV?O) and the activation energy barrier for the following O?O bond formation appears to be feasible through manipulation of the coordination environment of the iron site. This control may have a crucial role in the future development of water oxidation catalysts based on iron.  相似文献

The effect of the calcination temperature on the properties of supported iron oxide catalysts for hydrogen sulfide oxidation prepared by impregnation of silica with iron(III) nitrate has been studied. An increase in the calcination temperature was found to diminish the catalytic activity of the Fe2O3/SiO2 catalysts in hydrogen sulfide oxidation. This behavior can be explained by the agglomeration of iron oxide particles and by a decrease in the surface concentration of active sites. It has been shown that an increase in the calcination temperature makes the catalyst more stable towards the sulfidation of the active component (Fe2O3) to the iron disulfide phase.  相似文献

The reduction behavior of silica supported iron and platinum-iron catalysts were studied by combinedin situ temperature programmed reduction (TPR)-M?ssbauer Spectroscopy (MBS). The results indicated that the TPR profiles of the supported Fe catalysts were different from that of bulk α-Fe2O3. There existed an interaction between the Pt and Fe metals and the SiO2 support for the Pt−Fe/SiO2 catalyst. On the supported iron-containing catalysts, the Fe3+ species were highly dispersed on the SiO2 supported before reduction. No Fe0 and Fe2+ in octahedral vacancy were found in the reduction of SiO2 supported iron-containing catalysts. Addition of Pt to the Fe/SiO2 catalyst could promote the reduction of the iron species.  相似文献

Iron oxide‐supported gold samples were prepared by co‐precipitation from HAuCl4 and Fe(NO3)3. The activities of the samples as CO oxidation catalysts were tested without thermal treatment and following treatments in flows of He and O2 at various temperatures. It was found that the untreated samples and those treated in a flow of He at 150 °C were more active than samples that had been treated at 400 °C in either a flow of O2 or of He. Infrared spectra recorded during CO oxidation catalysis indicate the presence of bonded CO molecules to cationic gold on all samples, whereas spectra of the least active catalysts indicate a predominant presence of Fe2+ carbonyls, which were highly stable under the conditions of our experiments. Our results indicate that in the least active samples the Fe2+‐bound CO blocks sites that would otherwise be available for oxygen activation.  相似文献

Recent studies on iron-based heterogeneous catalysts for selective oxidation of hydrocarbons are reviewed with emphasis on the partial oxidation of methane and the epoxidation of alkenes. High dispersion of iron sites is essentially important for the selective oxidations. The effective catalysts include immobilized or encapsulated iron complexes, iron-doped metal oxides such as Fe3+-doped silica, iron-containing microporous and mesoporous materials, and iron-containing compounds with isolated iron sites typified by iron phosphate. The structure-reactivity relationships and the factors affecting the catalytic performances are discussed with the aim to uncover the requirements of the active iron sites in target-selective oxidation.  相似文献

The effect of the structure of a mixture of industrially produced iron and iron oxide on the decomposition of trichloroethylene (TCE) was investigated by gas chromatography, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, energy dispersive X-ray analysis, X-ray diffractometry, and 57Fe-Mössbauer spectroscopy. The concentration of 10 mg L?1 TCE aqueous solution decreased to 0.41, 0.52, 0.26, and 0.09 mg L?1 when stirred for 7 days with iron–iron oxide mixtures having mass ratios of 2:8, 3:7, 4:6, and 5:5, respectively. The Mössbauer spectra of the mixtures after leaching were composed of two sextets with respective isomer shifts (δ) and internal magnetic fields (H) of 0.29±0.01 mm s?1 and 48.8±0.1 T, and 0.64±0.01 mm s?1 and 45.5±0.1 T, attributed to the Fe3+ species in tetrahedral (T d) and the Fe2+ and Fe3+ mixed species (Fe2.5+) in octahedral (O h) sites, respectively. Mössbauer spectra of a 3:7 mass ratio iron–iron oxide mixture showed a gradual decrease in the absorption area (A) of zero valent iron (Fe0) from 40.6. to 12.6, 13.2, 3.8 2.8, and 1.0±0.5 % and an increase in A of Fe3O4 from 31.8 to 59.4, 71.4, 93.2, 95.6, and 98.0±0.5 % after leaching with 10 mg L?1 TCE aqueous solution for 1, 2, 3, 7, and 10 days, respectively. Consistent values of the first-order rate constant were calculated as 0.32 day?1 for Fe0 oxidation, 0.34 day?1 for Fe3O4 production, and 0.30 day?1 for TCE decomposition, which indicates that the oxidation of Fe0 was the rate-controlling factor for Fe3O4 production and TCE decomposition. It is concluded from the experimental results that an iron–iron oxide mixture is very effective for the decomposition of TCE.  相似文献

Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) with ammonia has been considered as the most promising technology, as its effect deals with the NOX. Novel Fe-doped V2O5/TiO2 catalysts were prepared by sol–gel and impregnation methods. The effects of iron content and reaction temperature on the catalyst SCR reaction activity were explored by a test device, the results of which revealed that catalysts could exhibit the best catalytic activity when the iron mass ratio was 0.05%. It further proved that the VTiFe (0.05%) catalyst performed the best in denitration and its NOX conversion reached 99.5% at 270 °C. The outcome of experimental procedures: Brunauer–Emmett–Teller surface area, X-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, temperature-programmed reduction and adsorption (H2-TPR, NH3-TPD) techniques showed that the iron existed in the form of Fe3+ and Fe2+ and the superior catalytic performance was attributed to the highly dispersed active species, lots of surface acid sites and absorbed oxygen. The modified Fe-doped catalysts do not only have terrific SCR activities, but also a rather broad range of active temperature which also enhances the resistance to SO2 and H2O.  相似文献

Hexacoordinated non‐heme iron complexes [FeII(L1)2](ClO4)2 ( 1 ) and [FeII(L2)2](PF6)2 ( 2 ) have been synthesized using ligands L1 = (E)‐2‐chloro‐6‐(2‐(pyridin‐2ylmethylene) hydrazinyl)pyridine and L2 = (E)‐2‐chloro‐6‐(2‐(1‐(pyridin‐2‐yl)ethylidene)hydrazinyl) pyridine]. These complexes are highly active non‐heme iron catalysts to catalyze the C (sp3)?H bonds of alkanes. These iron complexes have been characterized using ESI?MS analysis and molecular structures were determined by X‐ray crystallography. ESI ? MS analysis also helped to understand the generation of intermediate species like FeIII?OOH and FeIV=O. DFT and TD?DFT calculations revealed that the oxidation reactions were performed through high‐valent iron center and a probable reaction mechanism was proposed. These complexes were also utilized for the degradation of orange II and methylene blue dyes.  相似文献

The oxidation of carbon monoxide on xMgO · yFe2O3 catalysts was studied over the temperature range 440–660 K. The catalysts contained 5, 40, and 75 at % Fe and the spinel MgFe2O4 and MgO phases. Complete CO conversion on compact and deposited (on γ-Al2O3) catalysts containing 75 at. % Fe occurred at 650–660 K. The kinetics of interaction of CO with adsorbed oxygen was studied on catalysts with 5 and 40 at % Fe below and above the Curie point (T c = 593 ± 10 K). The differences in the reaction orders with respect to gaseous CO and adsorbed oxygen below and above T c were explained as follows. In the ferromagnetic state of the active MgFe2O4 phase, oxidation involved adsorbed oxygen localized at oxygen vacancies in the environment of Fe3+ ions, whereas, in the paramagnetic state, superexchange interactions were absent in spinel structure fragments.  相似文献

The catalytic performance of tetra‐n‐butylammonium salts of Keggin and Wells–Dawson sandwich‐type polyoxotungstates, [M4(PW9O34)2]m? and [M4(P2W15O56)2]n? (M = Mn2+, Fe3+, Co2+, Ni2+, Zn2+), in the oxidation of cyclooctene and cyclohexene with 30% hydrogen peroxide under various conditions was investigated. In comparison, Wells–Dawson sandwich‐type polyoxometalates were found to be less active than Keggin ones. In both of them, those containing Zn and Fe gave higher conversions for different oxidation conditions. These catalysts showed very good reusability in the oxidation reaction. Isomorphously substituted (MeDM) and impregnated metal-containing MCM-41 (MeOx/IM) catalysts, in which Me = Co, Cu, Cr, Fe or Ni, have been prepared. Structural and textural characterizations of the catalysts were performed by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), chemical analysis, Raman spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), N2 adsorption isotherms and temperature programmed reduction (TPR). Cu2+, Co2+, and Cr4+/Cr3+ species were found over the catalysts as cations incorporated in the MCM-41 structure (MeDM) or highly dispersed oxides on the surface (MeOx/IM). The MeDM catalysts exhibited a good performance in the dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene with CO2. However, MeOx/IM catalysts had a low performance in styrene production (activity less than 15 × 10?3 mmol h?1 and selectivity for styrene less than 80%) due to the high reducibility of the metals species. However, Ni2+ or Fe3+ coordinated with the MCM-41 framework, as well as NiOx and Fe2O3 extra-framework species, is continuously oxidized by the CO2 to maintain the active sites for dehydrogenating ethylbenzene. Deactivation studies on the FeDM sample showed that Fe3+ species produced active sp2 carbon compounds, which are removed by CO2; the referred sample is catalytically selective for styrene and stable over 24 h of reaction. In contrast, highly active Ni2+ and Ni0 species produced a large amount of polyaromatic carbonaceous deposits from styrene, as identified by TPO, TG and Raman spectroscopy. An acid–base mechanism is proposed to operate to adsorb ethylbenzene and abstract the β-hydrogen. CO2 plays a role in furnishing the lattice oxygen to maintain the Fe3+ active sites in the dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene to form styrene.  相似文献

Redox‐inactive metal ions play important roles in tuning chemical properties of metal–oxygen intermediates. Herein we report the effect of water molecules on the redox properties of a nonheme iron(III)–peroxo complex binding redox‐inactive metal ions. The coordination of two water molecules to a Zn2+ ion in (TMC)FeIII‐(O2)‐Zn(CF3SO3)2 ( 1 ‐Zn2+) decreases the Lewis acidity of the Zn2+ ion, resulting in the decrease of the one‐electron oxidation and reduction potentials of 1 ‐Zn2+. This further changes the reactivities of 1 ‐Zn2+ in oxidation and reduction reactions; no reaction occurred upon addition of an oxidant (e.g., cerium(IV) ammonium nitrate (CAN)) to 1 ‐Zn2+, whereas 1 ‐Zn2+ coordinating two water molecules, (TMC)FeIII‐(O2)‐Zn(CF3SO3)2‐(OH2)2 [ 1 ‐Zn2+‐(OH2)2], releases the O2 unit in the oxidation reaction. In the reduction reactions, 1 ‐Zn2+ was converted to its corresponding iron(IV)–oxo species upon addition of a reductant (e.g., a ferrocene derivative), whereas such a reaction occurred at a much slower rate in the case of 1 ‐Zn2+‐(OH2)2. The present results provide the first biomimetic example showing that water molecules at the active sites of metalloenzymes may participate in tuning the redox properties of metal–oxygen intermediates.  相似文献

The trivalent metal cations Al3+, Cr3+, and Fe3+ were each introduced, together with Sc3+, into MIL‐100(Sc,M) solid solutions (M=Al, Cr, Fe) by direct synthesis. The substitution has been confirmed by powder X‐ray diffraction (PXRD) and solid‐state NMR, UV/Vis, and X‐ray absorption (XAS) spectroscopy. Mixed Sc/Fe MIL‐100 samples were prepared in which part of the Fe is present as α‐Fe2O3 nanoparticles within the mesoporous cages of the MOF, as shown by XAS, TGA, and PXRD. The catalytic activity of the mixed‐metal catalysts in Lewis acid catalysed Friedel–Crafts additions increases with the amount of Sc present, with the attenuating effect of the second metal decreasing in the order Al>Fe>Cr. Mixed‐metal Sc,Fe materials give acceptable activity: 40 % Fe incorporation only results in a 20 % decrease in activity over the same reaction time and pure product can still be obtained and filtered off after extended reaction times. Supported α‐Fe2O3 nanoparticles were also active Lewis acid species, although less active than Sc3+ in trimer sites. The incorporation of Fe3+ into MIL‐100(Sc) imparts activity for oxidation catalysis and tandem catalytic processes (Lewis acid+oxidation) that make use of both catalytically active framework Sc3+ and Fe3+. A procedure for using these mixed‐metal heterogeneous catalysts has been developed for making ketones from (hetero)aromatics and a hemiacetal.  相似文献

A series of Fe-Y zeolite catalysts with different Fe loading were prepared by ferrocene sublimation under solvent and water-free conditions. The dispersion, structure and morphology of the iron species on the Fe-Y catalysts were characterized by XRD,TEM and UV-Vis.The catalytic activities of Fe-Y samples were measured in selective catalytic reduction of NO with ammonia(NH3-SCR).The results showed that the iron species on the HY zeolite support were mainly made up of isolated Fe3+ions,Fex Oy oligomers and a little amount of<3 nm spherical Fe2O3particles.Isolated Fe3+ions are predominating among all the Fe-Y catalysts. The sum of isolated Fe3+ions and Fex Oy oligomers took up more than 90%percent of total iron species on the Fe-Y till 10.0 wt%loading of Fe.  相似文献

An iron(III)–catecholate complex [L1FeIII(DBC)] ( 2 ) and an iron(II)–o‐aminophenolate complex [L1FeII(HAP)] ( 3 ; where L1=tris(2‐pyridylthio)methanido anion, DBC=dianionic 3,5‐di‐tert‐butylcatecholate, and HAP=monoanionic 4,6‐di‐tert‐butyl‐2‐aminophenolate) have been synthesised from an iron(II)–acetonitrile complex [L1FeII(CH3CN)2](ClO4) ( 1 ). Complex 2 reacts with dioxygen to oxidatively cleave the aromatic C? C bond of DBC giving rise to selective extradiol cleavage products. Controlled chemical or electrochemical oxidation of 2 , on the other hand, forms an iron(III)–semiquinone radical complex [L1FeIII(SQ)](PF6) ( 2ox‐PF6 ; SQ=3,5‐di‐tert‐butylsemiquinonate). The iron(II)–o‐aminophenolate complex ( 3 ) reacts with dioxygen to afford an iron(III)–o‐iminosemiquinonato radical complex [L1FeIII(ISQ)](ClO4) ( 3ox‐ClO4 ; ISQ=4,6‐di‐tert‐butyl‐o‐iminobenzosemiquinonato radical) via an iron(III)–o‐amidophenolate intermediate species. Structural characterisations of 1 , 2 , 2ox and 3ox reveal the presence of a strong iron? carbon bonding interaction in all the complexes. The bond parameters of 2ox and 3ox clearly establish the radical nature of catecholate‐ and o‐aminophenolate‐derived ligand, respectively. The effect of iron? carbon bonding interaction on the dioxygen reactivity of biomimetic iron–catecholate and iron–o‐aminophenolate complexes is discussed.  相似文献
