A family of nonlinear conservative finite difference schemes for the multidimensional Boussinesq Paradigm Equation is considered. A second order of convergence and a preservation of the discrete energy for this approach are proved. Existence and boundedness of the discrete solution on an appropriate time interval are established. The schemes have been numerically tested on the models of the propagation of a soliton and the interaction of two solitons. The numerical experiments demonstrate that the proposed family of schemes is about two times more accurate than the family of schemes studied in [Kolkovska N., Two families of finite difference schemes for multidimensional Boussinesq paradigm equation, In: Application of Mathematics in Technical and Natural Sciences, Sozopol, June 21–26, 2010, AIP Conf. Proc., 1301, American Institute of Physics, Melville, 2010, 395–403].  相似文献

In this paper, we develop and validate a numerical procedure for solving a class of initial boundary value problems for the improved Boussinesq equation. The finite element method with linear B-spline basis functions is used to discretize the nonlinear partial differential equation in space and derive a second order system involving only ordinary derivatives. It is shown that the coefficient matrix for the second order term in this system is invertible. Consequently, for the first time, the initial boundary value problem can be reduced to an explicit initial value problem to which many accurate numerical methods are readily applicable. Various examples are presented to validate this technique and demonstrate its capacity to simulate wave splitting, wave interaction and blow-up behavior.  相似文献

In this paper, a new high-order energy-preserving scheme is proposed for the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation. The proposed scheme is constructed by using the Hamiltonian boundary value methods in time, and Fourier pseudospectral method in space. Exploiting this method, we get second-order and fourth-order energy-preserving integrators. The proposed schemes not only have high accuracy, but also exactly conserve the total mass and energy in the discrete level. Finally, single solitary wave and the interaction of two solitary waves are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed schemes.  相似文献

An implicit finite-difference method based on rational approximants of second order to the matrix-exponential term in a three-time level recurrence relation has been proposed for the numerical solution of the improved Boussinesq equation already known from the bibliography. The method, which is analyzed for local truncation error and stability, leads to the solution of a nonlinear system. To overcome this difficulty a predictor–corrector (P–C) scheme in which the predictor is also a second order implicit one is proposed. The efficiency of the proposed method is tested to various wave packets and the results arising from the experiments are compared with the relevant ones known in the bibliography.  相似文献

In this paper, a new one-dimensional space-fractional Boussinesq equation is proposed. Two novel numerical methods with a nonlocal operator (using nodal basis functions) for the space-fractional Boussinesq equation are derived. These methods are based on the finite volume and finite element methods, respectively. Finally, some numerical results using fractional Boussinesq equation with the maximally positive skewness and the maximally negative skewness are given to demonstrate the strong potential of these approaches. The novel simulation techniques provide excellent tools for practical problems. These new numerical models can be extended to two- and three-dimensional fractional space-fractional Boussinesq equations in future research where we plan to apply these new numerical models for simulating the tidal water table fluctuations in a coastal aquifer.  相似文献

In this paper, numerical methods for solving the good Boussinesq equation (G. B.) are considered. A fourth order accurate, difference scheme which satisfies the conservation laws is proposed. Under certain condition, the proof of stability, convergence and error estimation of this scheme is given. Some other problems related to Boussinesq are illustrated.  相似文献

In this paper, we implement alternating direction strategy and construct a symmetric FVE scheme for nonlinear convection-diffusion problems. Comparing to general FVE methods, our method has two advantages. First, the coefficient matrices of the discrete schemes will be symmetric even for nonlinear problems. Second, since the solution of the algebraic equations at each time step can be inverted into the solution of several one-dimensional problems, the amount of computation work is smaller. We prove the optimal H1-norm error estimates of order O(△t2 + h) and present some numerical examples at the end of the paper.  相似文献

A fourth order in time and second order in space scheme using a finite-difference method is developed for the non-linear Boussinesq equation. For the solution of the resulting non-liner system a predictor-corrector pair is proposed. The method is analyzed for local truncation error and stability. The results of a number of numerical experiments for both the single and the double-soliton waves are given.  相似文献

In this paper, anH 1-Galerkin mixed finite element method is used to approximate the solution as well as the flux of Burgers’ equation. Error estimates have been derived. The results of the numerical experiment show the efficacy of the mixed method and justifies the theoretical results obtained in the paper.  相似文献

A parametric scheme is proposed for the numerical solution of the nonlinear Boussinesq equation. The numerical method is developed by approximating the time and the space partial derivatives by finite-difference re placements and the nonlinear term by an appropriate linearized scheme. The resulting finite-difference method is analyzed for local truncation error and stability. The results of a number of numerical experiments are given for both the single and the double-soliton wave.  相似文献

We propose and analyze a numerical scheme for nonlinear degenerate parabolic convection–diffusion–reaction equations in two or three space dimensions. We discretize the diffusion term, which generally involves an inhomogeneous and anisotropic diffusion tensor, over an unstructured simplicial mesh of the space domain by means of the piecewise linear nonconforming (Crouzeix–Raviart) finite element method, or using the stiffness matrix of the hybridization of the lowest-order Raviart–Thomas mixed finite element method. The other terms are discretized by means of a cell-centered finite volume scheme on a dual mesh, where the dual volumes are constructed around the sides of the original mesh. Checking the local Péclet number, we set up the exact necessary amount of upstream weighting to avoid spurious oscillations in the convection-dominated case. This technique also ensures the validity of the discrete maximum principle under some conditions on the mesh and the diffusion tensor. We prove the convergence of the scheme, only supposing the shape regularity condition for the original mesh. We use a priori estimates and the Kolmogorov relative compactness theorem for this purpose. The proposed scheme is robust, only 5-point (7-point in space dimension three), locally conservative, efficient, and stable, which is confirmed by numerical experiments. This work was supported by the GdR MoMaS, CNRS-2439, ANDRA, BRGM, CEA, EdF, France.  相似文献

Parallel domain decomposition methods are natural and efficient for solving the implicity schemes of diffusion equations on massive parallel computer systems. A finite volume scheme preserving positivity is essential for getting accurate numerical solutions of diffusion equations and ensuring the numerical solutions with physical meaning. We call their combination as a parallel finite volume scheme preserving positivity, and construct such a scheme for diffusion equation on distorted meshes. The basic procedure of constructing the parallel finite volume scheme is based on the domain decomposition method with the prediction‐correction technique at the interface of subdomains: First, we predict the values on each inner interface of subdomains partitioned by the domain decomposition. Second, we compute the values in each subdomain using a finite volume scheme preserving positivity. Third, we correct the values on each inner interface using the finite volume scheme preserving positivity. The resulting scheme has intrinsic parallelism, and needs only local communication among neighboring processors. Numerical results are presented to show the performance of our schemes, such as accuracy, stability, positivity, and parallel speedup.© 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The inherent heterogeneities of many geophysical systems often gives rise to fast and slow pathways to water and chemical movement. One approach to model solute transport through such media is by fractional diffusion equations with a space–time dependent variable coefficient. In this paper, a two-sided space fractional diffusion model with a space–time dependent variable coefficient and a nonlinear source term subject to zero Dirichlet boundary conditions is considered. Some finite volume methods to solve a fractional differential equation with a constant dispersion coefficient have been proposed. The spatial discretisation employs fractionally-shifted Grünwald formulas to discretise the Riemann–Liouville fractional derivatives at control volume faces in terms of function values at the nodes. However, these finite volume methods have not been extended to two-dimensional and three-dimensional problems in a natural manner. In this paper, a new weighted fractional finite volume method with a nonlocal operator (using nodal basis functions) for solving this two-sided space fractional diffusion equation is proposed. Some numerical results for the Crank–Nicholson fractional finite volume method are given to show the stability, consistency and convergence of our computational approach. This novel simulation technique provides excellent tools for practical problems even when a complex transition zone is involved. This technique can be extend to two-dimensional and three-dimensional problems with complex regions.  相似文献

In this article, we propose a Fourier pseudospectral method for solving the generalized improved Boussinesq equation. We prove the convergence of the semi‐discrete scheme in the energy space. For various power nonlinearities, we consider three test problems concerning the propagation of a single solitary wave, the interaction of two solitary waves and a solution that blows up in finite time. We compare our numerical results with those given in the literature in terms of numerical accuracy. The numerical comparisons show that the Fourier pseudospectral method provides highly accurate results. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
