A method for measuring nuclear magnetic spin-lattice relaxation in solids in the effective field He3 acting in the triply rotating frame (TRF) is described. The method advances the previously described techniques whereby nuclear magnetic resonance and relaxation in the rotating (RF) and doubly rotating frames (DRF) are measured directly. In the present work, the RF and DRF are employed for suppressing the secular part of nuclear dipole-dipole (DD) interactions in the first two orders. As a result, the higher-order DD interactions (four- and five-particle ones) were separated, and their contribution to the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation in the TRF was studied experimentally. The experiments were carried out on protons in polycrystalline benzene. With the introduced technique, an overall spin-lattice relaxation decay in the TRF was recorded continuously during a single radio-frequency pulse with a length not exceeding 1 s. The contribution of multiproton nonsecular DD interactions to the proton spin-lattice relaxation in the TRF was observed selectively as a pronounced local minimum in the temperature dependence of the relaxation timeT 1ϱϱϱ. This contribution corresponds to ultraslow motion of benzene molecules with a rate about γHe3 2π · (101-103) s-1 and is determined quantitatively by specific correlation functions corresponding to the multiparticle nonsecular DD interactions of protons. The prospects of using this method for studying ultraslow atomic and molecular dynamics in solids are discussed.  相似文献

A spectrometer is described that ensures observation of NMR and relaxation in the effective field Hc2 acting in the doubly rotating frame (DRF). Unlike conventional NMR spectrometers, the presented apparatus allows the investigation of nuclear spin dynamics and relaxation under conditions of the specially transformed effective multispin dipole-dipole interaction Hamiltonian not studied up to now. The setup is a modified version of the previously described spectrometer for direct recording of NMR in the effective field He1 in the singly rotating frame (RF), all its operating functions being retained. The new version of the apparatus is designed for the study of NMR and, especially, spin relaxation of1H and19F nuclei in solids under the magic-angle conditions in both the RF and the DRF. It enables one to obtain NMR spectra and longitudinal and transverse nuclear relaxation kinetics in the DRF field He2 directly in their final form. In all operating modes, the apparatus is coherent with respect to the NMR frequency in the laboratory frame. In transient modes, it is also coherent with respect to the NMR frequencies in both the RF and the DRF. In all cases the NMR signals are recorded continuously during a single-scan experiment, as a rule not exceeding 1 s. The sensitivity and resolution capability of the spectrometer are superior to those of the starting one. In particular modes, its sensitivity is comparable with that of conventional NMR spectrometers. The apparatus enables one to investigate in detail slow molecular motions in solids with rates ≅γHe2 ∽ 103−105 s−1 and ≅γHe1 ∽ 105−107 s−1; various motion parameters, including multiparticle correlations as well as a motion mechanism, can be extracted from the experimental data.  相似文献

In the binary Ni98.5Al1.5 alloy we observed well resolved satellite hyperfine fields at111Cd nuclear probes. The hyperfine shifts derivated are −4.0(3); −8.5(3) and ⃛14.0(3)% relative to the pure nickel value. From the relative intensity of the four components as well as from the quadrupole interaction data we identify the satellites as impurity-probe configurations containing zero, one, two or three Al impurities in the third neighbour shell only. The third neighbour contribution to the hyperfine field at Cd in nickel equals ΔH 3= +4.5kG/μ B-atom, allowing an estimate ΔH 1≃ −17.8 kG/μ B-atom for the first shell contribution, confirmed by a similar experiment on Ni98.5Pd1.5.  相似文献

Using spectroscopy of the molecular Stark effect and fluorescence spectroscopy, we study the characteristics of diflavonol 3,7-dihydroxy-2,8-di(4-dimethylaminophenyl)-4H,6H-pyrano[3,2-g]chromene-4,6-dione (DFME), which demonstrates intramolecular charge and proton phototransfer. In the ground state, this dye has only one form and, in the excited state, it has two forms, i.e., normal and phototautomeric. We found that, for the normal form of DFME, the transition dipole moment that is responsible for the absorption (m a ), the dipole moment in the equilibrium ground state (μ g ), and the change of the dipole moment upon transition of the molecule in the excited Franck-Condon state (Δ a μ) are parallel. In the ground equilibrium state, the dipole moments in 1,4-dioxane and cyclohexane are equal to μg = 12.2 × 10−30 C m and μ g = 11.0 × 10−30 C m, respectively. Upon excitation, they increase by Δ a μ = 61 × 10−30 C m and Δ a μ = 50.2 × 10−30 C m in these solvents. We study the spectral characteristics of DFME in organic solvents and erythrocyte membranes. A spectral inhomogeneity of DFME in erythrocyte ghosts is found. The inhomogeneous broadening of fluorescence spectra is manifested as a long-wavelength shift of the band of the normal form of DFME by 1640 cm−1 upon excitation at the red edge of the absorption spectrum.  相似文献

Transient nutation ESR spectroscopy has been used to study the broadening of isolated lines in the triplet of P1 nitrogen centers in disperse synthetic diamond bombarded by electrons and annealed at 670–1070 K. On the basis of measurements of the spin-spin relaxation time, it was established that at nitrogen concentrations up to 1.2×1019 cm−3 the homogeneous line width is caused by dipole interaction between the nitrogen atoms and exchange interactions make no contribution. It is shown that BR b1(1 P)→e + e )≃3.3· 10−7 and BR c1(1 P)→e + e )≃10−8. This gives realistic possibilities for searching for the production of χ b1(1 P) and ξ c1(1 P) states in e + e collisions, even on the present-day colliders, to say nothing of b and c-τ factories. Approximating the shape of the magneto-thermoelectric power (TEP) ΔS(T,H) measured in Bi2Sr2CaCu2Oy by an asymmetric linear triangle of the form ΔS(T,H)≃S p (HB ±(H)(T c T) with positive B (H) and B +(H) defined below and above T c , we observe that B +(H) ≃2B (H). To account for this asymmetry, we explicitly introduce the field-dependent chemical potential μ(H) of holes into the Ginzburg-Landau theory and calculate both an average ΔS av(T,H) and fluctuation contribution ΔS fl(T,H) to the total magneto-TEP ΔS(T,H). As a result, we find a rather simple relationship between the field-induced variation of the chemical potential in this material and the above-mentioned magneto-TEP data around T c , viz. The static conductivity σ(E) and photoconductivity (PC) at radiation frequencies ħω=10 and 15 meV in Si doped with shallow impurities (density N=1016−6×1016 cm−3, ionization energy ε1≃45 meV) with compensation K=10−4−10−5 in electric fields E=10–250 V/cm are measured at liquid-helium temperatures T. Special measures are taken to prevent the high-frequency part of the background radiation (ħω>16 meV) from striking the sample. It is found that the conductivity σ(E) is due to carrier motion along the D band, which is filled with carriers under the influence of the field E. In fields E<E q (E q ≃100–200 V/cm) the carrier motion consists of hops along localized D states in a 10–15 meV energy band below the bottom of the free band (energy ε=ε1); for E>E q carriers drift along localized D states with energy ε∞ε1−10 meV. The relative differences δ ns (n=1, 2, 3) of the spindependent conversion coefficients were measured for α-Fe and α=Fe2O3. In contrast to theoretical predictions of δ1s≃−10−5 we found δ1s≃−1.0(4)x10−2 for both α-Fe and α-Fe2O3. As a possible source for this difference we consider a dynamic coupling with the atomic spin during the conversion process.  相似文献

Two-dimensional (2D) weak localization effects at low temperatures T=0.2–4.2 K are investigated in a nonsuperconducting sample Nd1.88Ce0.12CuO4−δ and in the normal state of a superconducting sample Nd1.82Ce0.18CuO4−δ for B>B c2≃3 T. The phase coherence time τφ (≃5×10−11 s at 1.9 K) and the effective thickness d of a conducting CuO2 layer (≃1.5 Å) are estimated by fitting the expressions from the 2D weak localization theory to the magnetoresistivity data for the normal-to-plane and in-plane magnetic fields. The estimated value of the parameter d ensures the condition of strong carrier confinement and justifies a model of almost decoupled 2D metallic sheets for the Nd2−x CexCuO4−δ single crystals. The spin-spin relaxation rate 63 T 2 −1 of 63Cu nuclei in CuO2 layers is measured in the normal and superconducting states of the compound YBa2Cu3O6.9 (T c onset =94 K) subjected to radiation-induced disordering by a fast-neutron flux Φ to T c onset =68 K (Φ=7×1018 cm−2) and T c onset <4 K (Φ=12×1018 cm−2). It is found that as the structural disorder increases, the contribution of the indirect spin-spin interaction 63 T 2G −1 , which is related to the value of the spin susceptibility at the boundary of the Brillouin zone of the copper planes χs(q={π/a; π/a}), decreases slightly at the transition to the superconducting state for the initial sample and remains unchanged for the weakly disordered sample. This behavior of the short-wavelength contribution to the spin susceptibility attests to the stability of the x 2y 2 symmetry of the energy gap against structural disorder, in accordance with proposed theoretical models of Cooper pairing for high-T c cuprates. Our studies involve measuring spin-lattice relaxation times for Nd3+ ions in yttrium-aluminum garnets over the temperature range 4–50 K at 9.25 and 36.4 GHz for different orientations of the external magnetic field in relation to the crystallographic axes. The temperature dependence of the relaxation rate is described by T 1 −1 =AT n+b exp(−Δ/kT), where n varies from sample to sample, with n=1 for “perfect” samples (i.e., with the longest relaxation times). Here Δ is approximately 130 cm−1, which is the energy of the excited Kramers doublet of the neodymium ion closest to the ground state, and this makes it possible to interpret the second term in T 1 −1 as the contribution of two-stage relaxation proceeding through the intermediate level Δ. A strong field dependence of these processes has been discovered: when the frequency was increased fourfold, the relaxation rate increased by a factor of 10. The effect is a specific manifestation of the degeneracy of the excited level, breaking of the symmetry of the crystalline field due to lattice defects, and the prevalence of deformations of a certain type in the spin-lattice interaction. The x-ray spectra of a plasma generated by heating CO2 and Ar clusters with high-intensity femtosecond laser pulses with q las≃1018 W/cm2 are investigated. Spatially resolved x-ray spectra of a cluster plasma are obtained for the first time. Photoionization absorption is observed to influence the spectral line profiles. The recorded features of the x-ray emission spectra definitely indicate the existence of a large relative number of excited ions (≃10−2–10−3) with energies of 0.1–1 MeV in such a plasma. Possible mechanisms underlying the acceleration of ions to high energies are discussed. It is shown that the experimental results can be attributed to the influence of ponderomotive forces in standing waves generated by the reflection of laser radiation from the clusters. Zh. éksp. The diffusion rate of muonium in the III–V compound semiconductor GaAs has been determined from measurements of muon spinT 1 relaxation induced by motion in the presence of nuclear hyperfine interactions. It is shown for the first time in a semiconductor that (a) there is a crossover of the transport mechanism at about 90 K from stochastic to zero-phonon hopping, as evidenced by a steep rise in the hop rate at lower temperatures, and that (b) the muonium diffuses at the hop rate of 1010 s−1 (corresponding diffusion constantD≈10−6 cm2s−1) at lower temperatures as well as at room temperature.  相似文献

The field dependence of the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation (SLR) of cold implanted 82Br (T ≤ 25 mK) in α-Fe single crystals was investigated with nuclear magnetic resonance of oriented nuclei (NMR/ON) at low temperatures as experimental technique. The SLR at the lattice sites with the hyperfine fields found by earlier NMR/ON experiments was measured as a function of the applied external magnetic field B ext parallel to the three principle axes [100], [110] and [111] of the iron single crystal. The data were evaluated with the full relaxation formalism in the single impurity limit and for comparison also with the often employed model of a single exponential function with an effective relaxation time T 1′. With a phenomenological model the high field values of the relaxation rates r ∞, [100]′ = 6.6(2) · 10−15 T2sK−1, r ∞, [110] = 5.4(2) · 10−15 T2sK−1 and r ∞, [111] = 5.2(1) · 10−15 T2sK−1 were obtained.  相似文献

We study quantum (Shubnikov-de Haas and de Haas-van Alphen) oscillations and angular oscillations of the reluctance in the organic quasi-two-dimensional metal (BO)2Clx(H2O)y. We show that the Fermi surface in this compound consists of a slightly corrugated cylinder with its axis perpendicular to the conducting plane. The cross section of the cylinder in this plane is a perfect circle of radius k F≃3×107 cm−1. The effective carrier mass associated with this cylinder is m*=(1.65–2.0) m 0 in the conducting plane, while the Dingle temperature is T D=3–4 K. Zh. éksp. Teor. Ceramic samples of (1−x)SrTiO3-xSrMg1/3Nb2/3O3 and (1−x)SrTiO3-xSrSc1/2Ta1/2O3 were prepared, and their dielectric properties were studied at x=0.005–0.15 and 0.01–0.1, respectively, at frequencies 10 Hz–1 MHz and at temperatures 4.2–350 K. A giant dielectric relaxation was observed in the temperature range 150–300 K, and not so strong but well-developed relaxation was found in the temperature range 20–90 K. The activation energy U and the relaxation time τ0 were determined to be 0.21–0.3 eV and from 10−11 to 10−12 s for the high-temperature relaxation and 0.01–0.02 eV and 10−8–10−10 s for the low-temperature relaxation, respectively. The additional local charge compensation of the heterovalent impurities Mg2+ and Nb5+ (or Sc3+ and Ta5+) by free charge carriers or the host ion vacancies is suggested to be the underlying physical mechanism of the relaxation phenomena. On the basis of this mechanism, the Maxwell-Wagner model and the model of reorienting dipole centers Mg2+ (or Sc3+) associated with the oxygen vacancy are proposed to explain the high-temperature relaxation with some arguments in favor of the latter model. The polaron-like model with the Nb5+-Ti3+ center is suggested as the origin of the low-temperature relaxation. By means of π++ channelling, positive pions (π+) implanted intoTa, Mo, andW are investigated up to high temperatures. A striking observation is that the channelling effect disappears in a rather narrow temperature interval centred at 0.26 (Ta) to 0.51 (W) of the melting temperature. From studies of π+ trapping by oxygen atoms inTa estimates for the low-temperature π+ diffusivity inTa [D π(23K)=1.4·10−10±0.3 m2s−1,D π(47K)=5.7·10−10±0.3 m2s−1] as well as for the binding enthalpy of π+ to 0 atoms (H B=7·10−2 eV) have been obtained. The diffusion data are in reasonable agreement with the theory of phonon-assisted tunnelling.  相似文献

A contactless microwave method is used to measure the fast magnetic relaxation of granular ceramic samples of YBa2Cu3O7−x irradiated by neutrons with fluences of 1016–1019 cm−2. An experimental study of the time dependence of the relaxation of high-frequency (rf) absorption (f=100 MHz) after the action of an external magnetic field pulse has shown the magnetic relaxation times τ 0 to be in the time interval of 0.5–150 ms. The rf-absorption mechanism is discussed in terms of an intergranular system with a thermally activated flux of vortices and their diffusion in the granular medium. Fiz. Tverd. Summary The spin-orbit parameter Δ, spin-lattice relaxation timeT 1, and spin-mixing parameter ɛ ofF H(OH) andF H(CN) centers in several alkali halides have been studied with magnetic circular dichroism at ∼2 K. A close comparison of the experimental results before and after optically induced association of theF center with the molecular ion has been made. In crystals of NaCl structure the negative spin-orbit parameter Δ changes little betweenF andF H centers in the same host. For CsCl and CsBr two values of Δ have been derived forF H(CN) centers with axis parallel or perpendicular to the magnetic field. In all studied systems, the spin-lattice relaxation timeT 1 is already shorter before aggregation compared toF formation. The spin-mixing parameter ɛ decreases slightly forF H(OH) compared toF centers, while it increases drastically forF H(CN) defects and reaches its maximum possible value ɛ=0.5 in cesium halides.
