Let K be a field of characteristic p>0 and let f(t 1,…,t d ) be a power series in d variables with coefficients in K that is algebraic over the field of multivariate rational functions K(t 1,…,t d ). We prove a generalization of both Derksen’s recent analogue of the Skolem–Mahler–Lech theorem in positive characteristic and a classical theorem of Christol, by showing that the set of indices (n 1,…,n d )∈? d for which the coefficient of \(t_{1}^{n_{1}}\cdots t_{d}^{n_{d}}\) in f(t 1,…,t d ) is zero is a p-automatic set. Applying this result to multivariate rational functions leads to interesting effective results concerning some Diophantine equations related to S-unit equations and more generally to the Mordell–Lang Theorem over fields of positive characteristic.  相似文献

We show that the recent results of Prasad and Rapinchuk (Adv. Math. 207(2), 646–660, 2006) on the existence and uniqueness of certain global forms of semisimple algebraic groups with given local behaviour in the case of number fields still hold in the case of global function fields.  相似文献

In (Letter to J.-P. Serre, 12 June 1991) Colliot-Thélène conjectures the following: Let F be a function field in one variable over a number field, with field of constants k and G be a semisimple simply connected linear algebraic group defined over F. Then the map has trivial kernel, denoting the set of places of k.The conjecture is true if G is of type 1A∗, i.e., isomorphic to SL1(A) for a central simple algebra A over F of square free index, as pointed out by Colliot-Thélène, being an immediate consequence of the theorems of Merkurjev-Suslin [S1] and Kato [K]. Gille [G] proves the conjecture if G is defined over k and F=k(t), the rational function field in one variable over k. We prove that the conjecture is true for groups G defined over k of the types 2A∗, Bn, Cn, Dn (D4 nontrialitarian), G2 or F4; a group is said to be of type 2A∗, if it is isomorphic to SU(B,τ) for a central simple algebra B of square free index over a quadratic extension k′ of k with a unitary k′|k involution τ.  相似文献

Let k be a global field of characteristic p. A finite group G is called k-admissible if there exists a division algebra finite dimensional and central over k which is a crossed product for G. Let G be a finite group with normal Sylow p-subgroup P. If the factor group G/P is k-admissible, then G is k-admissible. A necessary condition is given for a group to be k-admissible: if a finite group G is k-admissible, then every Sylow l-subgroup of G for lp is metacyclic with some additional restriction. Then it is proved that a metacyclic group G generated by x and y is k-admissible if some relation between x and y is satisfied.  相似文献

Let be a global field of positive characteristic, and let be a smooth projective curve. We study the zero-dimensional cycle group and the one-dimensional cycle group , addressing the conjecture that is torsion and is finitely generated. The main idea is to use Abhyankar's Theorem on resolution of singularities to relate the study of these cycle groups to that of the -groups of a certain smooth projective surface over a finite field.

It is shown in this paper that ifG is the group ofk-points of a semisimple algebraic groupG over a local fieldk of positive characteristic such that all itsk-simple factors are ofk-rank 1 and Γ ⊂G is a non-cocompact irreducible lattice then Γ admits a fundamental domain which is a union of translates of Siegel domains. As a consequence we deduce that ifG has more than one simple factor, then Γ is finitely generated and by a theorem due to Venkataramana, it is arithmetic.  相似文献

For a smooth geometrically integral algebraic variety X over a field k of characteristic 0, we define the extended Picard complex UPic(X¯). It is a complex of length 2 which combines the Picard group Pic(X¯) and the group U(X¯):=k¯[X¯]×/k¯×, where k¯ is a fixed algebraic closure of k and X¯=X×kk¯. For a connected linear k-group G we compute the complex UPic(G¯) (up to a quasi-isomorphism) in terms of the algebraic fundamental group π1(G¯).
