A global analysis of solar (including the recent SNO result), atmospheric, and reactor neutrino data is presented in terms of three-and four-neutrino oscillations. We first present the allowed regions of solar and atmospheric oscillation parameters assuming three-neutrino families, showing that in this framework it is possible to reconcile the two anomalies and providing an unified fit of all the observables at a time. Then, we consider scenarios where a sterile neutrino is added to the three standard ones and the mass spectra present two separate doublets. We evaluate the allowed active-sterile admixture in both solar and atmospheric oscillations, showing that, although the Super-Kamiokande data disfavor both the pure νμ→ν s atmospheric channel and, in combination with SNO, the pure ν e →ν s solar channel, the result from the combined analysis still favors close-to-pure active and sterile oscillations and disfavors oscillations into a near-maximal active-sterile admixture.  相似文献

Since the energy of a reactor neutrino is a few MeV, all , and oscillations are accessible by reactor neutrino experiments. KamLAND observed the oscillation and currently Double Chooz, RENO and Dayabay experiments are under construction aiming to detect oscillation. There are still good prospects for future reactor neutrino experiments after them. For example, there is room to further improve sin22θ13 accuracy at a baseline of ∼1.5 km, a very precise sin22θ12 measurement and the determination of mass hierarchy may be possible at a baseline ∼50 km, and if KamLAND is enlarged to the SuperKamiokande size, better measurement of and sin22θ12 will be anticipated. It is important to take into account such possibilities when planning future neutrino program after θ13 is measured by current experiments.  相似文献

It is shown that future solar neutrino experiments (SNO, Super-Kamiokande and others), in which high energy neutrinos will be detected (mostly from 8B decay), may allow to answer in a model independent way the question whether there are transitions of solar ve's into sterile states. No assumptions about the initial flux of 8B neutrinos are made. Lower bounds for the probability of transition of solar ve's into all sterile states are derived and expressed through measurable quantities.  相似文献

We investigate symmetries in Dirac and Majorana mass matrices of neutrinos in a three-generation scenario. We show that if we invokeL e +L μ-L τ x S 2R symmetry, one combination of right-handed neutrino states remains massless which can be interpreted as a sterile neutrino. Next we consider a SU2L x U(1)y x U(l)R gauge model and show how higher-dimensional operators can induce mixing between left- and right-handed states which explains solar, atmospheric and LSND experimental results.  相似文献

Working with a flavor symmetry, we show how the hierarchical structure in the charged fermion sector and a democratic approach for neutrinos that yields large solar and atmospheric neutrino mixings can be simultaneously realized in the MSSM framework. However, in SU(5) due to the unified multiplets we encounter difficulties. Namely, democracy for the neutrinos leads to a wrong hierarchical pattern for charged fermion masses and mixings. We show that, in the framework of three light neutrino species with hierarchical masses and assuming no fine tuning between the entries of the neutrino mass matrix, one can use the solar neutrino data to obtain information on the element U(e3) of the lepton mixing matrix. Conversely, a measurement of U(e3) in atmospheric or long baseline accelerator or reactor neutrino experiments would help discriminate between possible oscillation solutions of the solar neutrino problem.  相似文献

We consider the problem of determination of the neutrino mass ordering via precise study of the vacuum neutrino oscillations in the JUNO and other future medium baseline reactor neutrino experiments. We are proposing to resolve neutrino mass ordering by determination of the neutrino oscillation parameters from analysis of the data of the reactor experiments and comparison them with the oscillation parameters obtained from analysis of the solar and KamLAND experiments.  相似文献

We study the stability of the results of the three-neutrino oscillation analysis of atmospheric and reactor neutrino data under departures of the one dominant mass scale approximation. In order to do so we perform the analysis of atmospheric and reactor neutrino data in terms of three-neutrino oscillations where the effect of both mass differences is explicitly considered. We study the allowed parameter space resulting from this analysis as a function of the mass splitting hierarchy parameter which parameterizes the departure from the one dominant mass scale approximation. We consider schemes with both direct and inverted mass ordering. Our results show that in the analysis of the atmospheric data the derived range of the largest mass splitting, , is stable, while the allowed ranges of mixing angles and are wider than those obtained in the one dominant mass scale approximation. Inclusion of the CHOOZ reactor data in the analysis results in the reduction of the parameter space in particular for the mixing angles. As a consequence the final allowed ranges of the parameters from the combined analysis are only slightly broader than when obtained in the one dominant mass scale approximation. We point out the possibility that reactor measurement of θ13, when combined with high-statistics νe appearance accelerator experiments, can detect leptonic CP violation. Our proposal is based on a careful statistical analysis under reasonable assumptions on systematic errors, assuming 2 years running of the neutrino mode J-PARC → Hyper-Kamiokande experiment and a few years running of a reactor experiment with 100 t detectors at the Kashiwazaki–Kariwa nuclear power plant. We show that the method can be arranged to be insensitive to the intrinsic parameter degeneracy but is affected by the one due to unknown sign of Δm231.  相似文献

We investigate prospects of building a future accelerator-based neutrino oscillation experiment in China, including site selection, beam optimization and tau neutrino physics aspects. CP violation, non-unitary mixing and non-standard neutrino interactions are discussed. We simulate neutrino beam setups based on muon and beta decay techniques and compare Chinese laboratory sites by their expected sensitivities. A case study on the Super Proton–Proton Collider and the China JinPing Laboratory is also presented. It is shown that the muon-decay-based beam setup can measure the Dirac CP phase by about 14.2° precision at 1σ CL, whereas non-unitarity can be probed down to ∣αij∣ ≲ 0.37 (ij = 1, 2, 3) and non-standard interactions to $| {epsilon }_{{ell }{ell }^{prime} }^{m}| lesssim $ 0.11 (${ell }ne {ell }^{prime} =e$, μ, τ) at 90% CL, respectively.  相似文献
