The effects of Cr doping on Mn sites in the electron-doped manganites La0.9Te0.1MnO3 have been studied by preparing the series La0.9Te0.1Mn1−xCrxO3 (0.05≤x≤0.20). Upon Cr doping, both the Curie temperature TC and magnetization M are suppressed. The resistivity measurements indicate that there exists a weak metal-insulator (M-I) transition for the sample with x=0.05, with an increase in the doping level, the M-I transition disappears and the resistivity increases. Thermopower S(T) exhibits a maximum near TC for all samples. By fitting the S(T) and ρ(T) curves, it is found that the temperature dependences of both S(T) and ρ(T) in the high temperature paramagnetic (PM) region follow the small polaron conduction (SPC) mechanism for all samples. The fitting parameters obtained imply changes of both the average-hopping distance of the polarons and the polaron concentration with Cr doping in our studied samples. In the case of the thermal conductivity κ(T), the variation of κ(T) is analyzed based on the combined effects due to the suppression of the local Mn3+O6 Jahn-Teller (JT) lattice distortion because of the substitution of Cr3+ for Mn3+ ions, which results in the increase in κ, and the introduction of the disorder due to Cr-doping, which contributes to the decrease in κ.  相似文献

The effect of Cr doping on magnetic and electrical properties in the bilayer manganites La1.4Sr1.6(Mn1−yCry)2O7 (y=0-0.1) has been investigated. When y≤0.025, Cr doping enhances the three-dimensional magnetic transition temperature TC and the insulator-metal transition temperature TIM as well as decreases the peak resistivity at TIM, and the saturated magnetization decreases slightly. When y≥0.035, TIM decreases gradually accompanied by the increase of peak resistivity, but TC remains nearly constant, and the saturated magnetization decreases heavily. In the whole doping region, the two-dimensional magnetic transition temperature T? monotonously decreases with an increasing of Cr doping level. These results can be explained by considering different magnetic (including ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic) interactions between Mn ions and Cr ions.  相似文献

The magnetic properties and the Griffiths singularity were investigated in Mn-site doped manganites of La0.45Sr0.55Mn1−xCoxO3 (x=0, 0.05, 0.10 and 0.15) in this work. The parent sample La0.45Sr0.55MnO3 undergoes a paramagnetic-ferromagnetic transition at TC=290 K and a ferromagnetic-antiferromagnetic transition at TN=191 K. The doping of Co ions enhances the ferromagnetism and suppresses the antiferromagnetism. The enhanced ferromagnetism results from the fact that the Co doping enhances the Mn3+-Mn4+ double-exchange interaction and induces the Co2+-Mn4+ ferromagnetic superexchange interaction. Detailed investigation on the magnetic behavior above TC exhibits that the Griffiths singularity takes place in this series of Mn-site doped compounds. The correlated disorder induced by the Co ionic doping, together with the phase competition from the ferromagnetic and the antiferromagnetic interactions among Mn ions, is responsible for the Griffiths singularity.  相似文献

Magnetization and susceptibility were investigated as a function of temperature and magnetic field in polycrystalline Mn[Cr0.5Ga1.5]S4 spinel. The dc susceptibility measurements at 919 Oe showed a disordered ferrimagnetic behaviour with a Curie-Weiss temperature θCW=−55 K and an effective magnetic moment of 5.96 μB close to the spin-only value of 6.52 μB for Cr3+ and Mn2+ ions in the 3d3 and 3d5 configurations, respectively. The magnetization measured at 100 Oe revealed the multiple magnetic transitions with a sharp maximum at the Néel temperature TN=3.9 K, a minimum at the Yafet-Kittel temperature TYK=5 K, a broad maximum at the freezing temperature Tf=7.9 K, and an inflection point at the Curie temperature TC=48 K indicating a transition to paramagnetic phase. A large splitting between the zero-field-cooled (ZFC) and field-cooled (FC) magnetizations at a temperature smaller than TC suggests the presence of spin-glass-like behaviour. This behaviour is considered in a framework of competing interactions between the antiferromagnetic ordering of the A(Mn) sublattice and the ferromagnetic ordering of the B(Cr) sublattice.  相似文献

A series of self-doped La0.9MnO3+δ compounds have been fabricated by the solid-state reaction method with different post-annealing and oxygenation processes. The temperature dependence of resistivity measured at several magnetic fields indicated that all of these samples have an insulator–metal transition with a large negative colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) ratio. The resistivity, maximum CMR ratio and peak position are dominated by the oxygen content. As the oxygen content increases, the resistivity decreases, the peak position shifts to higher temperature and the maximum CMR ratio increases, respectively; meanwhile the peak number in the R–T curve is changed from 1 to 2, then from 2 to 1. The temperature dependencies of magnetization and specific heat show the evidence of magnetic phase transition in these samples. We think that two peaks contributed by the different oxygen-induced ferromagnetic phases resulted in the phase separation of the sample.  相似文献

Two methods—the solid-phase high-temperature (1300 °C) and the liquid-phase low-temperature (750 °C) routes—were used to synthesize the complex oxide La1.25Sr0.75MnCoO6, which has the structure of rhombohedral perovskite and is characterized by a disordered distribution of Mn and Co in structural sites. It was found by means of X-ray absorption near edge spectroscopy (XANES) at the K-edge that mixed valence states of Co2+/Co3+ and Mn3+/Mn4+, exist in both phases. Measurements of dc magnetization and real (χ′) and imaginary (χ″) parts of the ac susceptibility showed that the magnetic properties of these oxides are determined by a ferromagnetic transition at TC=217 K and a frequency-dependent transition at Tg<100 K. The high frequency dependence of Tg is indicative of the cluster-glass behavior of La1.25Sr0.75MnCoO6 (7 5 0) at T<TC within the ferromagnetic state.  相似文献

Double-layered manganite La1.4Ca1.6Mn2O7 has been synthesized using the solid-state reaction method. It had a metal-to-insulator transition at temperature TM1≈127 K. The temperature dependence of ac susceptibility showed a broad ferromagnetic transition. The two-dimensional (2D)-ferromagnetic ordering temperature (TC2) was observed as ≈245 K. The temperature dependence of its low-field magnetoresistance has been studied. The low-field magnetoresistance of double-layered manganite, in the temperature regions between TM1 and TC2, has been found to follow 1/T5. The observed behaviour of temperature dependence of resistivity and low-field magnetoresistance has been explained in terms of two-phase model where ferromagnetic domains exist in the matrix of paramagnetic regions in which spin-dependent tunneling of charge carriers occurs between the ferromagnetic correlated regions. Based on the two-phase model, the dimension of these ferromagnetic domains inside the paramagnetic matrix has been estimated as ∼12 Å.  相似文献

Cerium-doped Y1−xCexMnO3 compounds have been prepared in single-phase form for x=0 to 0.10. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns could be analyzed by using P63cm space group. Temperature variations of ac susceptibility and magnetization measurements show that these Ce-doped materials exhibit weak ferromagnetic transition. The observed ferromagnetic transition is attributed to the double exchange ferromagnetic interaction between Mn2+ and Mn3+ ions due to electron doping. The MH loops exhibit hysteresis along with linear contribution and were analyzed based on bound magnetic polaron (BMP) model. Increase in saturation magnetization and decrease in BMP concentrations have been observed with increase in Ce doping.  相似文献

We present here a detailed study of electronic transport properties of the metallic-ferromagnetic compounds Cu1+xCr2Te4, having excess Cu atoms with x=0-1, from 2 to 400 K. The stuffing of the copper atoms in the parent structure reduces the ferromagnetic ordering temperature TC from 325 to 156 K, while for the entire range the dependence of the electrical resistance and the thermopower with temperature and the anomalies in them on the magnetic ordering remain similar. All the compounds show a magnon-drag contribution in thermopower as a positive maximum around TC/3, and a T2 - dependence of resistivity at low temperatures. The increasing effects of the short range magnetic ordering in the paramagnetic resistivity are seen with the increase in the stuffing of atoms in these compounds. The transport properties are explained by the current carriers —the holes in a wide energy band dominated by the p-state of Te-atoms, which are scattered by the spindisorder in the paramagnetic phase and from the magnons in the ferromagnetic phase.  相似文献

The effect of the variation of oxygen content on structural, magnetic and transport properties in the electron-doped manganites La0.9Te0.1MnOy has been investigated. All samples show a rhombohedral structure with the space group The Curie temperature TC decreases and the paramagnetic-ferromagnetic (PM-FM) transition becomes broader with the reduction of oxygen content. The resistivity of the annealed samples increases slightly with a small reduction of oxygen content. Further reduction in the oxygen content, the resistivity maximum increases by six orders of magnitude compared with that of the as-prepared sample, and the ρ(T) curves of samples with y=2.86 and y=2.83 display the semiconducting behavior (dρ/dT<0) in both high-temperature PM phase and low-temperature FM phase, which is considered to be related to the appearance of superexchange ferromagnetism and the localization of carriers. The results are discussed in terms of the combined effects of the increase in the Mn2+/(Mn2++Mn3+) ratio, the partial destruction of double exchange interaction, and the localization of carriers due to the introduction of oxygen vacancies in the Mn-O-Mn network.  相似文献

A series of Mn–Zn Ferrite nanoparticles (<15 nm) with formula MnxZn1−xFe2O4 (where x=0.00, 0.35, 0.50, 0.65) were successfully prepared by citrate-gel method at low temperature (400 °C). X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the formation of single cubic spinel phase in these nanoparticles. The FESEM and TEM micrographs revealed the nanoparticles to be nearly spherical in shape and of fairly uniform size. The fractions of Mn2+, Zn2+ and Fe3+ cations occupying tetrahedral sites along with Fe occupying octahedral sites within the unit cell of different ferrite samples are estimated by room temperature micro-Raman spectroscopy. Low temperature Mossbauer measurement on Mn0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 has reconfirmed the mixed spinel phase of these nanoparticles. Room temperature magnetization studies (PPMS) of Mn substituted samples showed superparamagnetic behavior. Manganese substitution for Zn in the ferrite caused the magnetization to increase from 04 to18 emu/g and Lande's g factor (estimated from ferromagnetic resonance measurement) from 2.02 to 2.12 when x was increased up to 0.50. The FMR has shown that higher Mn cationic substitution leads to increase in dipolar interaction and decrease in super exchange interaction. Thermomagnetic (MT) and magnetization (MH) measurements have shown that the increase in Mn concentration (up to x=0.50) enhances the spin ordering temperature up to 150 K (blocking temperature). Magnetocrystalline anisotropy in the nanoparticles was established by Mossbauer, ferromagnetic resonance and thermomagnetic measurements. The optimized substitution of manganese for zinc improves the magnetic properties and makes these nanoparticles a potential candidate for their applications in microwave region and biomedical field.  相似文献

A study of the half-metallic character of the semi Heusler alloys Co1−xCuxMnSb (0?x?0.9) is presented. We investigated the saturation magnetization MS at temperatures from 5 K to room temperature and the temperature dependence of the DC magnetic susceptibility χ above Curie temperature TC. The magnetic moments at 5 K, for most compositions are very close to the quantized value of 4 μB for Mn3+ ion, the compound with 90% Co substituted by Cu is still ferromagnetic with MS (5 K)=3.78 μB/f.u. These results emphasize the role of Co atoms in maintaining the ferromagnetic order in the material. The Curie temperature is decreased from 476 K to about 300 K as the Cu content increases from 0% to 90%. Above TC, the χ−1 vs T curves follow very well the Curie–Weiss law. The effective moment μeff and paramagnetic Curie temperature θ are derived. A comparison between the values of MS at 5 K and μeff shows a transition from localized to itinerant spin system in these compounds.  相似文献

La0.7Sr0.3Mn1−xCoxO3 (x=0, 0.05, 0.1) nanoparticles, prepared by sol-gel method, were studied by means of X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, resistivity, magnetoresistance, thermal expansion and magnetostriction measurements. Results show that partial substitution of Mn by Co leads to a reduction in lattice parameters, enhancement of resistivity and room temperature magnetoresistance MR, decrease of metal-insulator transition temperature TMI and TC, an increase in thermal expansion coefficient, volume magnetostriction and anisotropic magnetostriction. The latter increases about one order of magnitude with 10% Co substitution. In comparison with Mn ions, the Co ions possess higher anisotropy energy, larger magnetostriction effect, smaller ionic size and spin state transitions with increase in temperature and magnetic field; this suggests that Co substitution leads to double-exchange interaction weakening, resulting in suppression of ferromagnetic long-range order and metallic state and increase of magnetic anisotropy. Furthermore, our samples have a relatively lower TMI and TC, higher resistivity and MR, compared with the reported values for similar compounds with larger particle sizes. This is attributed to the nanometric grain size and spin-polarized tunneling between neighboring grains.  相似文献

Based on Mn-doped chalcopyrites CdGeAs2, ZnGeAs2 and ZnSiAs2 the new dilute magnetic semiconductors with p-type conductivity were produced. Magnetization, electrical resistivity, magnetoresistance and Hall effect of mentioned compositions were studied. Their curves of temperature dependence of magnetization have the similar form in spite of complicated character, for which the concentration and mobility of the charge carriers are responsible. Thus, for T<15 K, these curves are characteristic for superparamagnetics and for T>15 K for a frustrated ferromagnetics. In compounds with Zn these two states dilute by spinglass-like state. This specific feature is assigned to an attraction of Mn ions occupying neighboring sites and to the competition between the carrier-mediated exchange and superexchange interactions. Curie temperatures of these compounds are above room temperature. These are the highest Curie temperatures in the AIIBIVCV2:Mn systems.  相似文献

Studies on La0.7Sr0.3Co1−xMnxO3 (x=0-0.5) compounds evidence that the interaction between Mn and Co ions in this system is antiferromagnetic super-exchange and not ferromagnetic (FM) double-exchange (DE). As a result, antiferromagnetism and magnetic glassiness develop steadily with increasing Mn content and the system becomes a spin glass at x∼0.1. Analyses of high-field magnetization data indicate that the system consists of two major phases: a metallic FM phase which magnetically saturates in rather low field, and an insulating non-FM phase which has a linear dependence of magnetization on magnetic field. In the low doping regime, the fraction of the non-FM component expands with temperature at the expense of the FM phase and becomes maximal at TC. Ferromagnetism reappears in highly doped (x≥0.2) compounds due to the presence of DE interaction between the Mn ions. The small volume fraction of the FM phase derived from the M(H) data in high-field region supports the coexistence of insulating and FM behaviors in the highly doped samples.  相似文献

The temperature dependences of the residual magnetization in narrow-band manganites (Pr0.67Ca0.33MnO3, Sm0.55Sr0.45Mn18O3, Sm0.55Sr0.45Mn16O3, and (NdEu)0.55Sr0.45Mn18O3) have been studied. All compounds studied are characterized by a fairly high residual magnetization M R (about 0.5 μB/Mn) at 4.2 K, which vanishes upon sample heating to the temperature T RE ≈ 30–35 K, which is much lower than the temperature T C of the ferromagnetic transition. However, upon magnetization of the samples at T RE < T < T C , the residual magnetization (smaller in magnitude) remains up to T C . For the composition (NdEu)0.55Sr0.45Mn18O3, the residual magnetization remains at T < T C , independent of the temperature of magnetization. The disappearance of the residual magnetization found at intermediate temperatures is apparently related to the destruction of the magnetic field-induced ferromagnetic ordering (which contains an additional contribution of the rare-earth sublattice).  相似文献

Magnetic properties and magnetic entropy change ΔS were investigated in Heusler alloy Ni43Mn43Co3Sn11. With decreasing temperature this alloy undergoes a martensitic structural transition at TM=188 K. The incorporation of Co atoms enhances ferromagnetic exchange for parent phases. Austenitic phase with cubic structure shows strong ferromagnetic behaviors with Curie temperature TCA at 346 K, while martensitic phase shows weak ferromagnetic properties. An external magnetic field can shift TM to a lower temperature at a rate of 4.4 K/T, and a field-induced structural transition from martensitic to austenitic state takes place at temperatures near but below TM. As a result, a great magnetic entropy change with positive sign appears. The size of ΔS reaches 33 J/kg K under 5 T magnetic field. More important is that the ΔS displays a table-like peak under 5 T, which is favorable for Ericsson-type refrigerators.  相似文献

For the polycrystalline samples of Mn1?xCuxCr2S4 (x = 0.85, 0.90, 0.95) the magnetization was measured in the temperature range between 77 K and the Curie temperature, TC, using a magnetic balance (Faraday's method) and pulsed magnetic fields up to 2.0 T. The magnetic susceptibility was measured between TC and about 600 K. The Curie temperatures were obtained using the kink point method. In the temperature range between 4.2 and 77 K the magnetization was measured in stationary magnetic fields up to 14 T. The data indicate a noncollinear ferrimagnetic structure. The compounds under investigation can be treated as CuCr2S4 slightly doped with Mn, with a valence distribution Mn2+1?xCu1+xCr3+2?xCr4+xS2?4.  相似文献

The influence of dc biasing current on temperature dependence of resistivity and low-field magnetoresistance (MR) of La0.67Ba0.33MnO3 bulk sample is reported. A prominent finding is the change in resistivity around the insulator-to-metal transition temperature (TIM) and the change in MR around the ferromagnetic transition temperature (TC). The decrease in MR around TC at higher biasing current indicates a strong interaction between carrier spin and spin of Mn ions resulting in a higher alignment of Mn ion spins. Change in resistivity around TIM is interpreted in the framework of percolative conduction model based on the mixed phase of itinerant electrons and localized magnetic polarons.  相似文献

A new mixed magnet, Mn1−xNixCl2·H2O, is examined by dc magnetization and susceptibility measurements across the entire composition range. The pure components are quasi-one-dimensional Heisenberg antiferromagnets ordering at 2.17 K (Mn) and 5.65 K (Ni) due to weaker interchain exchange supplementing the dominant exchange along MCl2MCl2M… chemical and structural chains. High temperature magnetic susceptibilities yield Curie and Weiss constants in χM=C/(Tθ). C(x) is linear but θ(x) displays curvature, which is analyzed to show that unlike-ion exchange is ferromagnetic and similar in size to like-ion. Most notable is the absence of antiferromagnetic susceptibility maxima down to 1.6 K from x=0.10 to 0.95. For x=0.05 a susceptibility maximum appears, with Tmax almost 20% lower than in the pure Mn component but Tc reduced by 2%. The size of the susceptibility is enhanced by admixture, the effect of disrupted antiferromagnetic tendencies. Magnetization isotherms evolve with composition. Larger values of magnetization, under the same measuring conditions, occur for mixtures than for pure components, consistent with frustration, which weakens antiferromagnetic alignment tendencies. The competing ferromagnetic (Ni) and antiferromagnetic (Mn) intrachain interactions, along with disorder and low dimensional characteristics, presumably lead to the absence of magnetic order over a remarkably broad composition range.  相似文献
