Letf be an analytic Banach algebra valued function and suppose that the contour integral of the logarithmic derivativef′f ?1 around a Cauchy domainD vanishes. Does it follow thatf takes invertible values on all ofD? For important classes of Banach algebras, the answer is positive. In general, however, it is negative. The counterexample showing this involves a (nontrivial) zero sum of logarithmic residues (that are in fact idempotents). The analysis of such zero sums leads to results about the convex cone generated by the logarithmic residues. 相似文献

In a commutative Banach algebraB the set of logarithmic residues (i.e., the elements that can be written as a contour integral of the logarithmic derivative of an analyticB-valued function), the set of generalized idempotents (i.e., the elements that are annihilated by a polynomial with non-negative integer simple zeros), and the set of sums of idempotents are all the same. Also, these (coinciding) sets consist of isolated points only and are closed under the operations of addition and multiplication. Counterexamples show that the commutativity condition onB is essential. The results extend to logarithmic residues of meromorphicB-valued functions. 相似文献

Necessary and sufficient conditions are found for the possibility of an extension of Invertibility Symbols from a dense subalgebra to its closure. It is proved that such an extension is possible if and only if the closure does not have any Kakutani elements. The extension of Invertibility Symbols from a Banach algebra to the matrix-valued case is also considered. Algebras with Polynomial Identities play an important role here. Applications to algebras generated by two idempotents and to algebras generated by singular integral operators are suggested. 相似文献

This paper is a continuation of [GK3] where the theory of Invertibility Symbol in Banach algebras was developed. In the present paper we generalize these results for the case when the Invertibility Symbol is defined on a subalgebra of the Banach algebras. The difficulty which arises here in this more general case is connected with the fact that some elements of the subalgebra may have the inverses which do not belong to the subalgebra. This generalization of the theory allows us to study the Fredholm Symbols of linear operators. Applications to subalgebras generated by two idempotents and to algebras generated by singular integral operators are presented. 相似文献

This paper is concerned with algebras generated by two idempotents P and Q satisfying (PQ)m=(QP)m and (PQ)m-1≠(QP)m-1. The main result is the classification of all these algebras, implying that for each m?2 there exist exactly eight nonisomorphic copies. As an application, it is shown that if an element of such an algebra has a nondegenerate leading term, then it is group invertible, and a formula for the explicit computation of the group inverse is given. 相似文献

The main purpose of this paper is to study the continuity of several kinds of generalized inverses of elements in a Banach algebra with identity. We first obtain a sufficient and necessary condition for the lower semi-continuity of reflexive generalized inverses as set-valued mappings. We show that every finite sum of idempotents in a Banach algebra can be represented as the logarithmic residue of some analytic Banach algebra valued function defined on any, given bounded Cauchy domain. We prove that, for a large class of Banach or quasi-Banach spaces E of X-valued sequences, the sets E-?q∈Γ?q(X), where Γ is any subset of (0,∞], and E-c0(X) contain closed infinite-dimensional subspaces of E (if non-empty, of course).
