We establish global existence and uniqueness theorems for the two-dimensional non-diffusive Boussinesq system with anisotropic viscosity acting only in the horizontal direction, which arises in ocean dynamics models. Global well-posedness for this system was proven by Danchin and Paicu; however, an additional smoothness assumption on the initial density was needed to prove uniqueness. They stated that it is not clear whether uniqueness holds without this additional assumption. The present work resolves this question and we establish uniqueness without this additional assumption. Furthermore, the proof provided here is more elementary; we use only tools available in the standard theory of Sobolev spaces, and without resorting to para-product calculus. We use a new approach by defining an auxiliary “stream-function” associated with the density, analogous to the stream-function associated with the vorticity in 2D incompressible Euler equations, then we adapt some of the ideas of Yudovich for proving uniqueness for 2D Euler equations.  相似文献

This paper furthers the study of Adhikari et al. (2010) [2] on the global regularity issue concerning the 2D Boussinesq equations with vertical dissipation and vertical thermal diffusion. It is shown here that the vertical velocity v of any classical solution in the Lebesgue space Lq with 2?q<∞ is bounded by C1q for C1 independent of q. This bound significantly improves the previous exponential bound. In addition, we prove that, if v satisfies , then the associated solution of the 2D Boussinesq equations preserve its smoothness on [0,T]. In particular, implies global regularity.  相似文献

This paper aims at the global regularity of classical solutions to the 2D Boussinesq equations with vertical dissipation and vertical thermal diffusion. We prove that the Lr-norm of the vertical velocity v for any 1<r<∞ is globally bounded and that the L-norm of v controls any possible breakdown of classical solutions. In addition, we show that an extra thermal diffusion given by the fractional Laplace δ(−Δ) for δ>0 would guarantee the global regularity of classical solutions.  相似文献

The goal of this work is to study the Boussinesq equations for an incompressible fluid in R2, with diffusion modeled by fractional Laplacian. The existence, the uniqueness and the regularity of solution has been proved.  相似文献

The main purpose of this paper is to justify the Stokes-Blasius law of boundary-layer thickness for the 2-D Boussinesq equations with vanishing diffusivity limit in the half plane, i.e., we shall prove that the boundary-layer thickness is of the value δ(ε)=εα with any α∈(0,1/2) for small diffusivity coefficient ε>0. Moreover, the convergence rates of the vanishing diffusivity limit are also obtained.  相似文献

The incompressible Boussinesq equations not only have many applications in modeling fluids and geophysical fluids but also are mathematically important. The well-posedness and related problem on the Boussinesq equations have recently attracted considerable interest. This paper examines the global regularity issue on the 2D Boussinesq equations with fractional Laplacian dissipation and thermal diffusion. Attention is focused on the case when the thermal diffusion dominates. We establish the global well-posedness for the 2D Boussinesq equations with a new range of fractional powers of the Laplacian.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the two‐dimensional (2D) incompressible Boussinesq equations with fractional Laplacian dissipation and thermal diffusion. Attention is focused on the subcritical case when the velocity dissipation dominates. More precisely, we establish the global regularity result of the 2D Boussinesq equations in a new range of fractional powers of the Laplacian, namely with . Therefore, this result significantly improves the previous work 31 which obtained the global regularity result for with , where is an explicit function.  相似文献

The dynamical behaviors of vacuum states for one-dimensional compressible Navier-Stokes equations with density-dependent viscosity coefficient are considered. It is first shown that a unique strong solution to the free boundary value problem exists globally in time, the free boundary expands outwards at an algebraic rate in time, and the density is strictly positive in any finite time but decays pointwise to zero time-asymptotically. Then, it is proved that there exists a unique global weak solution to the initial boundary value problem when the initial data contains discontinuously a piece of continuous vacuum and is regular away from the vacuum. The solution is piecewise regular and contains a piece of continuous vacuum before the time T>0, which is compressed at an algebraic rate and vanishes at the time T, meanwhile the weak solution becomes either a strong solution or a piecewise strong one and tends to the equilibrium state exponentially.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with existence of global weak solutions to a class of compressible Navier-Stokes equations with density-dependent viscosity and vacuum. When the viscosity coefficient μ is proportional to ρθ with , a global existence result is obtained which improves the previous results in Fang and Zhang (2004) [4], Vong et al. (2003) [27], Yang and Zhu (2002) [30]. Here ρ is the density. Moreover, we prove that the domain, where fluid is located on, expands outwards into vacuum at an algebraic rate as the time grows up due to the dispersion effect of total pressure. It is worth pointing out that our result covers the interesting case of the Saint-Venant model for shallow water (i.e., θ=1, γ=2).  相似文献

We consider a system coupling the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations to the Vlasov-Fokker-Planck equation. The coupling arises from a drag force exerted by each other. We establish existence of global weak solutions for the system in two and three dimensions. Furthermore, we obtain the existence and uniqueness result of global smooth solutions for dimension two. In case of three dimensions, we also prove that strong solutions exist globally in time for the Vlasov-Stokes system.  相似文献

We prove regularity criteria for the 3D generalized MHD equations. These criteria impose assumptions on the vorticity only. In addition, we also prove a result of global existence for smooth solution under some special conditions.  相似文献

This paper investigates the global regularity issue concerning a model equation proposed by Hou and Lei (2008) [9] to understand the stabilizing effects of the nonlinear terms in the 3D axisymmetric Navier-Stokes and Euler equations. We establish the global regularity of a generalized version of their model with a fractional Laplacian when the fractional power satisfies an explicit condition. This condition is exactly the same as in the case of the 3D generalized Navier-Stokes equations and is due to the balance between a more regular nonlinearity and a less effective (five-dimensional) Laplacian.  相似文献

In this paper we give a new proof of the partial regularity of solutions to the incompressible Navier-Stokes equation in dimension 3 first proved by Caffarelli, Kohn and Nirenberg. The proof relies on a method introduced by De Giorgi for elliptic equations. This work was supported in part by NSF Grant DMS-0607953.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the Yudovich type solution of the 2D inviscid Boussinesq system with critical and supercritical dissipation. For the critical case, we show that the system admits a global and unique Yudovich type solution; for the supercritical case, we prove the local and unique existence of Yudovich type solution, and the global result under a smallness condition of θ0θ0. We also give a refined blowup criterion in the supercritical case.  相似文献

We prove that a smooth solution of the 3D Boussinesq system with zero viscosity in a bounded domain breaks down, if a certain norm of vorticity blows up at the same time. Here this norm is weaker than the bmo-norm.  相似文献

In this paper, local well-posedness for the density dependent incompressible Euler equations is established in Besov spaces. We also obtain a blow-up criterion for the corresponding solution.  相似文献

We consider a non-Newtonian fluid governed by stationary, incompressible Navier–Stokes equations with shear-dependent viscosity. Using a fixed point argument in an appropriate functional setting, we establish the existence of a strong solution for small and suitably regular data. Uniqueness results are obtained under similar conditions.  相似文献

In this paper we study the super-critical 2D dissipative quasi-geostrophic equation. We obtain some regularization effects allowing us to prove a global well-posedness result for small initial data lying in critical Besov spaces constructed over Lebesgue spaces Lp, with p∈[1,∞]. Local results for arbitrary initial data are also given.  相似文献
