The global minimization of a large-scale linearly constrained concave quadratic problem is considered. The concave quadratic part of the objective function is given in terms of the nonlinear variablesx R n , while the linear part is in terms ofy R k. For large-scale problems we may havek much larger thann. The original problem is reduced to an equivalent separable problem by solving a multiple-cost-row linear program with 2n cost rows. The solution of one additional linear program gives an incumbent vertex which is a candidate for the global minimum, and also gives a bound on the relative error in the function value of this incumbent. Ana priori bound on this relative error is obtained, which is shown to be 0.25, in important cases. If the incumbent is not a satisfactory approximation to the global minimum, a guaranteed-approximate solution is obtained by solving a single liner zero–one mixed integer programming problem. In this article we give a complete global classification of the class QSess of planar, essentially quadratic differential systems (i.e. defined by relatively prime polynomials and whose points at infinity are not all singular), according to their topological behavior in the vicinity of infinity. This class depends on 12 parameters but due to the action of the affine group and re-scaling of time, the family actually depends on five parameters. Our classification theorem (Theorem 7.1) gives us a complete dictionary connecting very simple integer-valued invariants which encode the geometry of the systems in the vicinity of infinity, with algebraic invariants and comitants which are a powerful tool for computer algebra computations helpful in the route to obtain the full topological classification of the class QS of all quadratic differential systems.  相似文献

The compartmental model is one of the important applications in economic and social dynamic systems which are made of numbers of units-subsystems. Stabilization of economic compartmental switched systems with compartmental subsystems is studied in this paper. A quadratic Lyapunov function is introduced to construct switching law in order to stabilize these kinds of mathematical economic and social models. Necessary and sufficient conditions of stabilization are presented for both asynchronous and synchronous switching. Precisely, after a proper change in state space, stabilization conditions can be expressed in terms of matrix inequalities. At the same time, definitions, theorems and corollaries as well as a detailed simulation result of one example are presented to show the effectiveness of the main result obtained.  相似文献

We discuss bifurcation of periodic orbits in discontinuous planar systems with discontinuities on finitely many straight lines intersecting at the origin and the unperturbed system has either a limit cycle or an annulus of periodic orbits. Assume that the unperturbed periodic orbits cross every switching line transversally exactly once. For the first case we give a condition for the persistence of the limit cycle. For the second case, we obtain the expression of the first order Melnikov function and establish sufficient conditions on the number of limit cycles bifurcate from the periodic annulus. Then we generalize our results to systems with discontinuities on finitely many smooth curves. As an application, we present a piecewise cubic system with 4 switching lines and show that the maximum number of limit cycles bifurcate from the periodic annulus can be affected by the position of the switching lines.  相似文献

In the area of broad-band antenna array signal processing, the global minimum of a quadratic equality constrained quadratic cost minimization problem is often required. The problem posed is usually characterized by a large optimization space (around 50–90 tuples), a large number of linear equality constraints, and a few quadratic equality constraints each having very low rank quadratic constraint matrices. Two main difficulties arise in this class of problem. Firstly, the feasibility region is nonconvex and multiple local minima abound. This makes conventional numerical search techniques unattractive as they are unable to locate the global optimum consistently (unless a finite search area is specified). Secondly, the large optimization space makes the use of decision-method algorithms for the theory of the reals unattractive. This is because these algorithms involve the solution of the roots of univariate polynomials of order to the square of the optimization space. In this paper we present a new algorithm which exploits the structure of the constraints to reduce the optimization space to a more manageable size. The new algorithm relies on linear-algebra concepts, basic optimization theory, and a multivariate polynomial root-solving tool often used by decision-method algorithms.This research was supported by the Australian Research Council and the Corporative Research Centre for Broadband Telecommunications and Networking.  相似文献

Summary The aim of this Letter is to show that the singularities of integrable Hamiltonian systems, besides being important for such systems themselves, also have many applications in the study of near-integrable systems. In particular, we will show how they are related to Kolmogorov’s nondegeneracy condition (in the famous KAM theorem), the Poincaré-Melnikov function and its generalizations, topological entropy, and nonintegrability criteria.  相似文献

Iterative solvers appear to be very promising in the development of efficient software, based on Interior Point methods, for large-scale nonlinear optimization problems. In this paper we focus on the use of preconditioned iterative techniques to solve the KKT system arising at each iteration of a Potential Reduction method for convex Quadratic Programming. We consider the augmented system approach and analyze the behaviour of the Constraint Preconditioner with the Conjugate Gradient algorithm. Comparisons with a direct solution of the augmented system and with MOSEK show the effectiveness of the iterative approach on large-scale sparse problems. In this paper, we consider the quadratic stabilizability via state feedback for a particular class of switched systems that evolve on a non-uniform time domain by introducing time scales theory. The system considered switches between a continuous-time subsystem with variable lengths and a discrete-time subsystem with variable discrete step sizes. Necessary and sufficient conditions are derived to guarantee the quadratic stability of this class of switched systems via a switching state feedback law based on the existence of a common positive definite matrix satisfying the quadratic stabilizability condition by considering that the two subsystems are unstable. By state feedback, we mean that the switching among subsystems depends on the system states. Current results for this kind of state switching feedback control are derived only for switched systems evolving on a continuous time domain or a discrete time domain with fixed step’s size. These results are not applicable for the particular class of switched systems where there is a mixing between the continuous and discrete dynamics. This motivates the derivation of a new and more general state feedback control law for switched systems in this work. A numerical example illustrating the results is presented.  相似文献

This article is about weak singularities of quadratic differential systems, that is, non-degenerate singular points with traces of the corresponding linearized systems at such points equal to zero. These could be foci, centers or saddles. Necessary and sufficient conditions for a real quadratic system to possess a fixed number of weak singularities of a specific order are given. The conditions are stated in terms of affine invariant polynomials in the 12-dimensional space of the coefficients.  相似文献
