We adapt our previous results for the “partition function” of the superintegrable chiral Potts model with open boundaries to obtain the corresponding matrix elements of eα H , where H is the associated Hamiltonian. The spontaneous magnetization ℳ r can be expressed in terms of particular matrix elements of eα H S 1 r eβ H , where S 1 is a diagonal matrix. We present a conjecture for these matrix elements as an m by m determinant, where m is proportional to the width of the lattice. The author has previously derived the spontaneous magnetization of the chiral Potts model by analytic means, but hopes that this work will facilitate a more algebraic derivation, similar to that of Yang for the Ising model.  相似文献

We study quantum (Shubnikov-de Haas and de Haas-van Alphen) oscillations and angular oscillations of the reluctance in the organic quasi-two-dimensional metal (BO)2Clx(H2O)y. We show that the Fermi surface in this compound consists of a slightly corrugated cylinder with its axis perpendicular to the conducting plane. The cross section of the cylinder in this plane is a perfect circle of radius k F≃3×107 cm−1. The effective carrier mass associated with this cylinder is m*=(1.65–2.0) m 0 in the conducting plane, while the Dingle temperature is T D=3–4 K. Zh. éksp. Teor. A search for the axioelectric absorption of 5.5-MeV solar axions produced in the p + d → 3He + γ (5.5 MeV) reaction was performed with two BGO detectors placed inside a low-background setup. Constraints on the axion-electron coupling constant were obtained for axions with masses in the (0.1–1.0)-MeV range: g Ae ≤ (1.8–9.0) × 10−7. The solar positron flux from A → e + e+ decay was determined for axions with masses m A > 2m e. Using the existing experimental data on the interplanetary positron flux, a new constraint on the axion-electron coupling constant for axions with masses in the (1.2–5.4)-MeV range was obtained: g Ae ≤ (1–5) × 10−17.  相似文献

The Mellin-Barnes representation is used to improve the theoretical estimate of mass corrections to the width of a light pseudoscalar meson decay into a lepton pair, Pl + l . The full resummation of the terms ln(m l 22)(m l 22) n and (m l 22) n to the decay amplitude is performed, where m l is the lepton mass and Λ ≈ m ρ is the characteristic scale of the P → γ*γ* form factor. The total effect of the mass corrections for the e + e channel is negligible and, for the μ+μchannel, its order is of a few percent. The text was submitted by the authors in English.  相似文献

The polarization operator of an axion in a degenerate gas of electrons occupying the ground-state Landau level in superstrong magnetic fields HH 0=m e 2 c 3/eℏ=4.41×1013 G is investigated in a model with a tree-level axion-electron coupling. It is shown that a dynamic axion mass, which can fall within the allowed range of values 10−5 eV≲m a≲102 eV, is generated under the conditions of strongly magnetized neutron stars. Charge transfer ΔQ = 0.35e at the Si-N bond in silicon nitride is determined experimentally using photoelectron spectroscopy, and the ionic formula of silicon nitride Si3+1.4N4−1.05 is derived. The electronic structure of α-Si3N4 is studied ab initio using the density functional method. The results of calculations (partial density of states) are compared with experimental data on X-ray emission spectroscopy of amorphous Si3N4. The electronic structure of the valence band of amorphous Si3N4 is studied using synchrotron radiation at different excitation energies. The electron and hole effective masses m e *m h * ≈ 0.5m e are estimated theoretically. The calculated values correspond to experimental results on injection of electrons and holes into silicon nitride.  相似文献

The oscillator representation is applied to calculate the energy spectrum of three-body Coulomb systems with total angular momentum J. For three-body Coulomb systems with J = 1 and arbitrary masses the region of stability is determined. For the systems (A + A e ), (pe C +), (pB e ), and (D + e e +), the values of the critical masses of the particles A, B, C, and D are obtained as m A = 2.22m e , m B = 1.49m e , m C = 2.11m e and m D = 4.15m e . It is shown that BR b1(1 P)→e + e )≃3.3· 10−7 and BR c1(1 P)→e + e )≃10−8. This gives realistic possibilities for searching for the production of χ b1(1 P) and ξ c1(1 P) states in e + e collisions, even on the present-day colliders, to say nothing of b and c-τ factories. The thermal expansion coefficient a and structure of C60 films with thickness t∼3–10 nm were investigated in the temperature interval from room to liquid-nitrogen temperature by electron-optical methods. The thermal expansion coefficient was determined from the temperature shift of the diffraction maxima in the electron diffraction patterns. The objects of investigation were epitaxial C60 films condensed in vacuum on a (100) NaCl cleavage surface and oriented in the (111) plane. A surface-induced size effect in the thermal expansion coefficient was observed. It was established that as t decreases α f increases and is described well by the relation α f=17·10−6 K−1+8.3·10−5 nm K−1 t −1. This relation was used to estimate the linear expansion coefficient α s of the C60 surface in the (111) plane as α s=60·10−6K−1, which is several times larger than the bulk value. The experimental results agree satisfactorily with the theoretical calculations of the mean-square displacements of molecules located in a region near the surface. Zh. éksp. Teor. The dominant one-loop electron contribution to the mass operator of an axion in a crossed field in the asymptotic limits of the parameters q 2/m e 2 and is calculated. The corresponding electromagnetic mass of the axion is compared with the quantum-chromodynamic mass due to mixing with π. Expressions are derived for the probability of pair creation ae + e , and the fundamental conclusion is reached that refractive effects are present in the propagation of an axion in an external electromagnetic field. The hadronic events from the e  +  e  −  annihilation data at the centre-of-mass energies ranging from 60 to 197 GeV were studied. The AMY and OPAL Collaborations offered a unique opportunity to test QCD by measuring the energy dependence of different observables. The coupling constant, α s, was measured by two different methods: first by employing the three-jet observables. Combining all the data, the value of as at next-to-next leading order (NNLO) was determined to be 0.117 ± 0.004(hard) ± 0.006(theo). Secondly, from the event-shape distributions, the strong coupling constant, α s, was extracted at NNLO and it’s evaluation was tested with the energy scale. The results were consistent with the running of α s, expected from QCD predictions. Averaging over different observables, α s was determined to be 0.115 ± 0.007(hard) ± 0.003(theo).  相似文献

A new type of correlated wave function for the normal helium is proposed in the form:ψ(r1, r2)=Σc mφm withφ m=exp]−α(r 1+r 2)]/(br 12+a) m wherea, b, α are non-linear variational parameters. Optimizing these parameters by the Monte-Carlo technique, an energy eigen-value of −2.903645(a.u.) is obtained withonly three terms in the basis expansion alongwith satisfactory cusp condition, compared to the essentially exact non-relativistic value of −2.903724 as given by Freundet al (Phys. We consider axion formation processes in the synchrotron (e e a) and annihilation (e e +a) channels in a constant crossed field F μν Fμν=Fμν*F μν =0, which approximates constant fields of other configurations in the ultrarelativistic asymptotic limit. The probability and intensity of axion emission are obtained, and we analyze the energy and field asymptotics. A comparison with the characteristic neutrino channel yields the constraints on the axion mass and the energy scale for Peccei-Quinn symmetry breaking. The results of the search for ν μ ν e oscillations in the NOMAD experiment at CERN are presented. The experiment looked for the appearance of ν e in a predominantly ν μ wideband neutrino beam at the CERN SPS. No evidence for oscillations was found. The 90% confidence limits obtained are Δm 2<0.4 eV2 for maximal mixing and sin2(2θ)<1.4×10−3 for large Δm 2. This result excludes the LSND allowed region of oscillation parameters with Δm 2≳10 eV2. We revisit the determination of α S (m τ 2) using a fit to inclusive τ hadronic spectral moments in light of (1) the recent calculation of the fourth-order perturbative coefficient K 4 in the expansion of the Adler function, (2) new precision measurements from BABAR of e+e annihilation cross sections, which decrease the uncertainty in the separation of vector and axial-vector spectral functions, and (3) improved results from BABAR and Belle on τ branching fractions involving kaons. We estimate that the fourth-order perturbative prediction reduces the theoretical uncertainty, introduced by the truncation of the series, by 20% with respect to earlier determinations. We discuss to some detail the perturbative prediction of two different methods: fixed-order perturbation theory (FOPT) and contour-improved perturbative theory (CIPT). The corresponding theoretical uncertainties are studied at the τ and Z mass scales. The CIPT method is found to be more stable with respect to the missing higher order contributions and to renormalization scale variations. It is also shown that FOPT suffers from convergence problems along the complex integration contour. Nonperturbative contributions extracted from the most inclusive fit are small, in agreement with earlier determinations. Systematic effects from quark-hadron duality violation are estimated with simple models and found to be within the quoted systematic errors. The fit based on CIPT gives α S (m τ 2)=0.344±0.005±0.007, where the first error is experimental and the second theoretical. After evolution to M Z we obtain α S (M Z 2)=0.1212±0.0005±0.0008±0.0005, where the errors are respectively experimental, theoretical and due to the evolution. The result is in agreement with the corresponding N3LO value derived from essentially the Z width in the global electroweak fit. The α S (M Z 2) determination from τ decays is the most precise one to date.  相似文献

A method of improving perturbation theory in QCD is developed which can be applied to any polarization operator. The case of the polarization operator Π(q 2), corresponding to the process e + e → hadrons, is considered in detail. By the use of the analytical properties of Π(q 2) and a perturbation expansion of Π(q 2) for q 2<0, the function ImΠ(q 2) at q 2>0 is defined in such a way that the infrared pole is eliminated. The convergence of the perturbation series for R(q 2)=σ(e + e →hadrons)/(e + e μ + μ ) is improved. After substitution of R(q 2) into the dispersion relation an improved Adler function D(q 2) is obtained, having no infrared pole and a frozen α s (q 2). Good agreement with experiment is achieved. An expression for the recombination coefficient α B in a weakly nonideal ultracold plasma in a high magnetic field has been proposed. According to this expression, α B T e −1.5 B −2, where T e is the temperature of electrons and B is the strength of the magnetic field. Comparison of calculated values with experimental data including the results of the recent experiments on recombination in antihydrogen confirms the theoretical dependence.  相似文献

We re-evaluate the electromagnetic corrections to η→3π decays at next-to-leading order in the chiral expansion, arguing that effects of order e 2(m u m d ) disregarded so far are not negligible compared to other contributions of order e 2 times a light-quark mass. Despite the appearance of the Coulomb pole in ηπ + π π 0 and cusps in η→3π 0, the overall corrections remain small.  相似文献

Charged particle momentum distributions are studied in the reaction e+e → hadrons, using data collected with the AMY detector at center of mass energy of 58 GeV. The measured distributions and derived quantities in combination with the corresponding results obtained at both lower and higher center of mass energies are compared to QCD predictions in theoretical approach to study the energy dependence of the strong interaction, and to test QCD as the theory describing it. To achieve this, the mean charged particle multiplicity, the charged particle momentum spectrum and its peak position are compared with predictions of the modified-leading logarithmic approximation. In general, good agreement is observed between the data and the above approximation in the regions where the model is expected to be valid. In addition the strong coupling constant α s is determined from a fit of the QCD prediction to x p distribution of the Feynman scaling. When we leave α s as a free parameter in the fit we obtain α s = 0.115 ± 0.008.  相似文献
