We study the classical motion of an atom in the vicinity of an infinite straight wire which carries an oscillating uniform charge. This system has been proposed as a mechanism for trapping cold neutral atoms. The parameters of the problem are the magnitude Q and frequency of oscillation of the charge, the mass M and polarizability of the atom, and the angular momentum L of the atom about the wire. For 0 and 2MQ 2 greater than, but close to, L 2, we prove that the atom's radial motion is periodic (with period 2/), and that the atom moves in a helical path around the wire. For 2MQ 2 L 2 we prove that the atom must either collide with the wire or else escape to infinity in the radial direction.  相似文献

In this paper, we paraquantize the spinning string theory in the Neveu-Shwarz model. Unlike the Ardalan and Mansouri work [Phys. Rev. D, Vol. 9, (1974) 3341], the paraquantum system is such that both the center of mass variables and the excitation modes of the string verify paracommutation relations. The commutators of the Poincaré algebra are satisfied, except the [p ,p ] one, since one can only write [p ,p ]= 0, for Q1. Because of the relation [x ,x ] =,0 and with the sole use of the trilinear relations, we find existence possibilities of spinning strings defined in a noncommutative space-time at space-time dimensions other than D=10.  相似文献

We employ QCD sum rules to calculate the coupling constant g by studying the three point -correlation function. Our result complements the analysis of this coupling constant utilizing the experimental value of the 00 decay rate studied within the framework of chiral perturbation theory including vector meson and meson intermediate states.  相似文献

For automorphism groups of operator algebras we show how properties of the difference t – ' t are reflected in relations between the generators , . Indeed for a von Neumann algebraM with separable predual we show that if t – 't 0.28 for smallt, then = 0(+)°-1 where is an inner automorphism ofM and is a bounded derivation ofM. If the difference t – ' t =O(t) ast ; 0, then = + and if t – ' t 0.28 for allt then =. We prove analogous results for unitary groups on a Hilbert space andC 0,C 0 * groups on a Banach space. This paper subsumes an earlier work of the same title which appeared as a report from Z.I.F. der Universität BielefeldWith partial support of the U.S. National Science Foundation  相似文献

The grand canonical ensemble of a two-dimensional Coulomb system with±1 charges is proved to have screening phenomena in its high-temperature region. The Coulomb potential in a finite region is assumed to be (–)–1, where is the Laplacian with zero boundary conditions on. The hard-core condition is not assumed. The model is set up by separating (–)–1 into a shortrange part and a long-range part depending on a parameter. The self-energies are subtracted only for the short-range part and therefore a choice of is a choice of subtraction of self-energies. The method of proof is in general the same as that of Brydges-Federbush Debye screening, except that here a modification for the short-range part of the potentials is needed.  相似文献

Let denote the conformally invariant neutral free scalar field on ×S n. The naive lightcone Hamiltonian for a p interaction is given by cp, where C denotes a lightcone in ×S n, and the Wick power is relative to the free vacuum. We show that this sesquilinear form annihilates the free vacuum if n3 is odd, p>2, and p(n–1)0 mod 4.  相似文献

The strength of Einstein's empty-space field equations is computed anew and shown to be equal to the amount of initial data required for a local solution of the equations. This same amount of initial data is shown to be precisely that required for a set of 16 unknown first-order differential equations containing 10 field variables and having six identities of second order. The 10 field variables must be functions of second order in the metric coefficients. The 16 field equationsC , = 0 whereC is Weyl's conformal tensor, are shown to have the same properties as those of the unknown equations, suggesting thatC = 0 is a satisfactory local first-order formulation of Einstein's second-order empty-space field equations.  相似文献

The forceF of mutual interaction of two species of charged particles in relative motion with velocityU is, forU higher than the mean thermal velocities of particles, a decreasing function ofU. This property ofF(U) can give rise to the excitation of electrostatic oscillations.

The reaction p K0+ was measured in the photon energy range from threshold up to 2.6 GeV with the SAPHIR detector at the electron stretcher facility, ELSA, in Bonn. Results are presented on the reaction cross-section and the polarization of the + as a function of the kaon production angle in the centre-of-mass system, cosc.m.K, and the photon energy. The cross-section is lower and varies less with photon energy and kaon production angle than that of p K+0. The + is polarized predominantly at cosc.m.K 0. The data presented here are more precise than previous ones obtained with SAPHIR and extend the photon energy range to higher values. They are compared to isobar model calculations.  相似文献

We derive the hydrodynamic (Euler) approximation for the harmonic time evolution of infinite classical oscillator system on one-dimensional lattice 1 It is known that equilibrium (i.e., time-invariant attractive) states for this model are translationally invariant Gaussian ones, with the mean 0, which satisfy some linear relations involving the interaction quadratic form. The natural parameter characterizing equilibrium states is the spectral density matrix function (SDMF)F(), [– , ). Time evolution of a space profile of local equilibrium parameters is described by a space-time SDMFF(t;x, ) t, xR 1. The hydrodynamic equation forF(t; x, ) which we derive in this paper means that the normal mode profiles indexed by are moving according to linear laws and are mutually independent. The procedure of deriving the hydrodynamic equation is the following: We fix an initial SDMF profileF(x, ) and a familyP ,>0 of mean 0 states which satisfy the two conditions imposed on the covariance of spins at various lattice points: (a) the covariance at points close to the value –1 x in the stateP is approximately described by the SDMFF(x, ); (b) The covariance (on large distances) decreases with distance quickly enough and uniformly in. Given nonzerotR 1, we consider the states P –1 ,>0, describing the system at the time moments –1 t during its harmonic time evolution. We check that the covariance at lattice points close to –1 x in the state P –1 is approximately described by a SDMFF(t;x, ) and establish the connection betweenF(t; x, ) andF(x,).  相似文献

A standard random walk on a one-dimensional integer lattice is considered where the probability ofk self-intersections of a path =(0, (1),..., (n) is proportional toe k . It is proven that for <0,n –1/3(n) converges to a certain continuous random variable. For >0 the formulas are given for the asymptotic Westerwater velocity of a generic path and for the variance of the fluctuations about the asymptotic motion.  相似文献

High-spin states of 136La have been investigated with the reaction 130Te( 11B, 5n) at a beam energy of 60 MeV. The level scheme with three collective bands has been updated with spin up to 20 . The observed h11/2 h11/2 band shows -instability with increasing spin according to the TRS calculations. The band crossing and the signature splitting and inversion have been discussed. Other two collective bands based on 12-and 16+ levels were proposed as oblate deformation with -60°. They most probably originate from four- and six-quasiparticle configurations, that is, h11/2 g7/2h11/22 and g7/2 g7/22d5/2h11/22 respectively.  相似文献

The mean square tilt angle of a nematic slab with finite anchoring energy and periodic boundary conditions has been theoretically investigated, as a function of the slab geometry and of the reduced extrapolation length. If the anchoring strength is free-surfacelike, the contrast is affected by a loss 10% at room temperature if the ratio between the anchoring pitch and the cell thickness is 0.5.Glossary anchoring pitch - h cell thickness - /h - ( = x/, = y/h) reduced coordinates - (, ) local tilt angle - elastic constant - wa anchoring energy anisotropy - b=/w a de Gennes-Kleman extrapolation length - B=b/h reduced extrapolation length - T NI nematic-isotropic transition temperature - :=(T/T NI ) – 1 reduced temperature - easy axis direction - MAX - ± 2 mean square tilt angle along the boundary - () absorbance coefficients of the p-dye - r /: dichroic ratio - c contrast - G contrast gain - S order parameter  相似文献

The binding energy of the double hypernucleus Be10 analyzed using an -particle model. A relationship is found between B, the binding energy of two -particlcs, and ¯V, the - potential integral. For the experimental value B = 17.5 Me V ¯V varies from 250 to 850 MeV-F3 according to the form of the - potential used.In conclusion, I wish to thank S. N. Bohr's 1930 derivation of the uncertainty relation c 2 m th bears a close relationship to Einstein's 1913 derivation of the gravitational redshift via the equivalence principle. A rewording of Bohr's argument is presented here, not taking the last step of acceleration as equivalent to a uniform gravity field, thus yielding a derivation of the formula c 2 m th, avoiding Treder's 1971 objection.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to review and to extend, wherever possible, the Kramers-Kronig relations, sum rules, and symmetry properties for the electrodynamic transport tensors of a linear plasma medium. For complete generality, we consider both nonrelativistic and relativistic plasmas with and without external magnetic fields. Our study is carried out first within the framework of classical electrodynamics. We then exploit the statistical-mechanical fluctuation-dissipation theorem to further obtain the Onsager symmetry relations and Kubo sum-rule frequency moments. Of special significance is the emergence of a variety of new Kramers-Kronig formulae andf-sum rules for the inverse dispersion tensor.Nomenclature E(k,) electric field intensity - Ê(k,) electric field in absence of plasma particles, - (k,) electric field due to the plasma particles (=E-Ê) - B(k,) magnetic induction - D(k,) electric induction - H(k,) magnetic field strength - B 0 constant external magnetic field - A 0 vector potential corresponding toB 0 - (k,),j(k, co) charge and current densities due to the plasma particles - (k,),J(k,) charge and current densities of the external agency - (k,,B 0) dielectric tensor of the plasma medium in the presence of B0 - (k,,B 0) diamagnetic tensor - (k, co,B 0) (k,,B 0) – 1, electric polarizability tensor - (k,,B 0) magnetic polarizability tensor - (k,,B 0) ordinary conductivity tensor - (k,,B 0) external conductivity tensor - D(k,,B 0) n2T–(k,,B 0), dispersion tensor, where T=1-kk is the transverse projection tensor (k being the unit vector in the direction ofk) andn = kc/ the index of refraction - n2T – 1, = vacuum wave operator (value of D in vacuum) - 1/2( + ), Hermitian part of - ^ 1/2( – ), Anti-Hermitian part of a - , real and imaginary parts of a - R(r,t) dissipated power per unit volume of plasma - U total energy absorbed by the plasma - R(k,) E*(k,) · (k,,b 0) ·E(k,) corresponding spectral energy density - W(r,t) 1/20E2(r, 0 + (l/20) B2(r,t), field energy density - W(k,) 1/20E*k,) ·E(k,) + (l/20)B *(k,) · B(k,), energy content in a certain domain of (k,)-space for a single mode - x i,p i,v i coordinate, momentum, and velocity of ith electron - i [1–(i 2/c2)]–1/2 - X j,P j,V j coordinate, momentum, and velocity of jth ion - {A q}, {Eq} field coordinates and momenta - jk(t),J k(t) perturbations in the microscopic electron and ion current densities due to the presence of the small external vector potential agencyâ(r,t) = (1/L3) âk(t) expi k ·r - Liouville distribution function = 0 + - 0 macrocanonical distribution function characterizing the equilibrium state of the system in the infinite past - small perturbation due toA - H0 Hamiltonian of equilibrium system which includes interaction - H Hamiltonian for the interaction between the system and the small external perturbing agencyA - 0 = dR()0 expectation value of any quantity over the equilibrium ensemble (dR is an element of hypervolume in -phase space) - G(12) two-particle distribution function - F(1) one-particle distribution function - g(¦x2 – x1 ¦) [G(12)/F(1)F(2)] – 1, pair correlation function - N total number of electron in volume L3 - n 0 equilibrium density (of electrons) - –1 temperature (in energy units) - 0 (n0e2/m0)1/2, equilibrium electron plasma frequency - c ¦e ¦–B 0/m, electron frequency - –1 ( 0/n0e2)1/2, Debye length - 0 (n0Ze2/M0)1/2, equilibrium ion plasma frequency - c ZeB0/M, ion cyclotron frequency  相似文献

The reaction K+XeK0pX is investigated in a meson-exchange model including rescattering of the secondary protons with the aim to analyze the evidence for the +(1540)-resonance reported by the DIANA Collaboration. We confirm that the kinematical cuts introduced by the DIANA Collaboration efficiently suppress the background to the K+nK0p reaction which may contribute to the +(1540) production. We find that these kinematical cuts do not produce a narrow structure in the K0p effective-mass spectra near 1540 MeV. We study the effect of a narrow +-resonance of both positive and negative parity in comparison with the DIANA data. We show that the K+XeK0pX calculations without + contribution as well as the results obtained with a + width of 1 MeV are in comparably good agreement with the DIANA results. More dedicated experiments are called for to establish this exotic baryon resonance.  相似文献

We consider gradient systems of infinitely many particles in one-dimensional space interacting via a positive invariant pair potential with a hard core. The main assumption is that is strictly convex within the rangeR of (whereR is a fixed number ). Under some technical conditions we prove the following theorems: Let the initial distribution be given by a translation invariant point process onR 1. Then there exists only one extreme equilibrium state with a given intensityI() satisfyingI()R –1, and all ergodic initial distributions with an intensityI()R –1 converge weakly ast to the extreme equilibrium state with the same intensity.  相似文献
